Like Greek? Go here. Like great food on a budget? Go here. John's Grecian Delight is tucked away in the old Southroads mall complex and whips up some delightfully good Greek Food. The owner is incredibly friendly and smiley and knows what he's doing in the kitchen. You can get gyro with fries for a little over $5! Not too shabby in my book, and they aren't those small shoe string fries, it's the BIG steak fries! Yumm! He also has amazing roasted chicken that's juicy fall off the bone chicken! It's seasoned perfectly and comes with potatoes and pita for a mere $4.50!! You really get the biggest BANG for your BUCK if you like Greek food! They have specials everyday and have a good amount of tables in the restaurant too. It's been awhile since I've been out here, but if you can you should definitely check this place out. They make all my lists for a five star hole in the wall eatery: 1) Amazing customer service!!!! 2) Delicious food!! 3) Great portion sizes! 4) Biggest BANG for your BUCK! Now go now and thank me later =)

I love this place! Too bad it's slightly hard to find, if it's your first time here-- and you have no one to show you the way :/....maybe that makes it's more appealing though? It's like finding a hidden gem. It's inside the dead mall in Bellevue, on the 1st floor-- next door to the "bellevue police" station in the mall. If you go in the main entrance of the mall- take a right, John's is like....one of 5-10 businesses left open in this mall. I'm surprised he hasn't moved to a better location-- but I"m guessing the rent is cheap? Either way, don't let the creepy abandoned mall deter you-- this place is worth it! You build your salad, if you get a meal-- a salad is included, and then order. Once you order you go, get your drink and then sit down where ever you want. Your number will be called, at which point you will go to the counter to pick up your food. (I wrote this, because if I had not gone with more seasoned people....I would've been confused as heck on how the order/pay process went) Everything is good here, your simple gyro-- other dishes I can't remember how to pronounce, the special salad dressing, the greek desserts (that you order separate, totally worth it!). Oh and did I mention it's SUPER CHEAP! I'm talking full meal (main corse, your salad, and drink) all for about $5-6. Yeah-- it's worth it; get out there and try this hidden gem. John, the owner, is always there (he's the cook usually) and friendly-- he's super happy to answer any questions or give you recommendations.

Yeah I got to review this place. Best GYROS anywhere I believe in my opinion. Super ultra cool location as half the adventure is finding it but when you do you will be back for more if your a fan of GYROS.

Honestly this is the best Greek food I've ever had. I started going there when my boyfriend and I started dating. I never heard of the place and now it's a one of my favorites to go to. The gyros are the most tasteful gyros I've ever tasted. I hope he's around for more years to come my my two little ones can meet john himself, and eat the amazing food.

I have been eating at John's for almost 30 years. John is a great guy and I love the food. Everything is good but the gyro supreme and the greek steak sandwich are my favorites. Make sure you try the baklava.

  • A B.

I've been coming here since 1996. John's is one of those places that may not be pretty like one of the fancy chains, but the food is fantastic! More akin to a diner than a restaurant, the atmosphere is friendly and inviting. John's is on the first floor of a very desolate Southroads mall, which is primarily filled with Ameritrade people. John cooks himself, is from Greece, and brings that authenticity only a native can. The menu is straight Greek, with souvlaki, gyros, chicken riganato and an excellent Greek salad dressing. The baklava is super. Is John's Grecian worth a trip? Yes.

I went to High School in Athens and this is as good as it gets. Love the tzaziki...awesome real deal stuff. Alot of places use sour cream..agh!! You will love the food here. I also get to speak the little greek I know because John is the real deal. He is also at the Greek Festival..Let's keep him in business because I will cry if he ever leaves...LOL

  • Jennifer W.

You should do yourself a favor and eat here. As a young kid I ran around Southroads Mall with my friends....going to movies and shopping and stopping in to John's for great food. Today, when there is no other reason to stop by Southroads....I still swing in for John's great food, great prices and great service. You will not regret going out of your way to the Lower Level of Southroads for Amazing Greek Food.

I went here for a gyro b.c. it says the location is close to where I was staying, but I couldn't find it and I called them and no one picked up the phone. Are they even still open? The only thing I saw was a gym. Since I couldn't find it my experience is I didn't taste the food but if it's so hard to find I can't sample it, plus they didn't pick up the phone so that sucked. Went to king kong instead. Take out drive thru. Maybe the food is good here but if you can't find the place & they don't answer the phone... it's not good customer service I called 2 times.

It's located in an old mall. We almost didn't find it. Now I'm glad we did. We were looking to try something new. The restaurant was quiet and we were the only ones there as they were like 20 mins from closing but very welcoming. We went in and tried the gyros and they were delicious. It's an affordable restaurant. They don't have a very big menu but still my family were each able to order something they wanted. We all enjoyed our meal and our experience there. We will be going back.

I have been coming to this place for as long as I can remember. I have enjoyed my fair share of chicken nuggets and fries as a child here. This was also when the mall was full of people and businesses. A lot has changed since then, the mall is now a ghost town and I have graduated to gyros but John's is still great!! The meat is tender and full of flavor. The tzatziki, tomatoes, and onions are plentiful. Large portions for an unbelievable price. John is always very friendly and will even remember you depending on how often you visit. This place truly is a hidden gem.

Cleanliness 4 Service 5 Food 5 Overall 5 Just had lunch here. A little out of the way and you would never find it since it is in an old mall that doesn't get much traffic. However it is highly worth the trip. I went on lunch break with a co-worker that frequents the place. The menu is simple, nothing too fancy. However the food is amazing. I had the steak gyro, twice since it was so good. The white cream sauce on it was really good and a bit salty, but I really liked it. The steak had great flavor as well. Best gyros I have ever had hands down. The head cook is John who knows his traditional Greek food! Highly recommend a try, as I will go back when I get the chance!

  • Nel P.

Great food. Kinda hidden from the main mall (or what's left of it). The prices were really reasonable and the food was good. Definitely going back. Might have to try the other items on their menu.

Oh my!! What a great gyro place! I was getting my car worked on at Firestone next to Southroads technology Park, and they suggested I get luck at John's Grecian Delight for lunch while I wait. Little did I know, I had actually bookmarked this place a few months ago when I visited Omaha! The gyro meat was tender, flavorful, and you definitely get a lot of it with your order! The tzatziki sauce had a kick, and was so delightful. I ate there an hour ago, and the amazing flavor from that gyro is still lingering on my tastebuds! The service was very friendly, and I enjoyed talking to the owner. They are close to the military base, and although the mall area looks like a scene from walking dead since there are lots of closed stores and the escalators don't work, I recommend this place to anyone!

  • Bill S.

I ate at John's today, after reading all of the great reviews. When the other reviews said this place is hidden they wherent joking. I first tried to go into the door under the cosentry sign, that want it. You want the door in between the cosentry sign and the paradigm signs. Now to the food. While I will say the gyro was good it wasn't the best I've ever had. Maybe I had a bad batch of tzaiki but I found it too salty. Also, the menu said they had Greek salad, maybe I just got the regular salad but it was just a salad bar with iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, and croutons, maybe this is stereotypical of me but I was expecting feta of some sort. I would return but only for a gyro and mostly because for the price it was good and im cheap some times.

    (3)
  • Kristina A.

Not the best gyro I've had (I prefer my meat crispier) but it was very good and the prices can't be beat. A gyro plate (comes with a salad and fries), gyro supreme, 2 nuggets and fries, a burger and fries, and 2 sodas came to $24. I will echo others on the owner being super nice too.

  • Chad K.

I've been eating here off and on for the last 15 years. As most reviews indicate, this place is a bit of a hidden gem in a "dead" mall. Definitely make the effort to find the place and enjoy some gyros. Gyros sandwich is excellent. Tzatziki can be a bit on the salty side sometimes, but is still very good. He also has these potatos he serves that he marinades in something. Whatever they are... they're awesome. They are usually paired with chicken. Both sell out quickly. Don't forget to order a piece of baklava. One criticism I have is that dinner is not as good as lunch. That is, the place closes at 7PM, so, not wanting to waste food, items that run out are not replenished and are just no longer available for purchase that day. Additionally, the pitas can get a little dry toward the end of the day. So, if you're going to eat at John's then come for lunch. I got a laugh out of the "Smoking Permitted" signs on the North wall. Smoking has been banned in restaurants in Nebraska for about 7 years now. So, in 7 years John hasn't gotten around to taking the signs down. I'm tempted to buy a pack of smokes and light up and when somebody says something I'll just point at the sign. Restaurant is always clean and generally well-maintained. You have to use the mall restrooms at the far Northwest corner as John's does not have restrooms of its own

  • William A.

Best gyro you will ever eat!! The sauce is absolutely amazing!! John himself is also the best, nicest guy ever.

    (5)
  • Abby S.

John is great, he's always smiling, efficient, and effective. I've never had a poor experience. I always get a chicken gyro with everything on it with extra sauce and a side of onion rings. It is damn good, very filling and way too cheap! It's a little inconvenient to have to go down to the lower level of the southroads business building it's seriously worth it, tenfold =]

    (5)
  • Alyssa M.

Hands down- THE BEST gyros in town. THE BEST... THE BEST! His supreme gyros are the best. I remember going here as a child but I thought they closed when Southroads Mall went under. Imagine my surprise when I found they were still open for business. I have been to practically all the gyro places in Omaha, and this remains the best in Omaha and surrounding areas. Other meals are equally as yummy... his grilled chicken is GREAT!

    (5)
  • Ivy H.

This is the best Greek food! Always fresh & tastes delish! You can choose from gyro sandwiches, salads, souvlaki, chicken sandwiches & wonderful Greek desserts including baklava & milopita. The owner John is the nicest guy you could meet. My husband & I always make it a point to visit John's Grecian Delight when we are in the area. It is located in an old what used to be shopping mall. Unfortunately there are no signs pointing to this great place but eventually you should find it. If you can't find it there are usually some mall walkers you can ask. This is a great place once you do find it I'm sure you will be going back a lot!!

    (5)
  • Joe L.

Real good food for a real good price. John packs on the meat with the gyro and its as original as it gets. It is hard to find. It is located inside an old abandoned mall straight out of the 80s. Other than that, I'll go back.

    (4)
  • Chris N.

I've been going here since I was a little kid! He always remembers me and the rest of my family! The food is amazing!! And it's the best baklava ever!

Best gryos in town. Little hidden in South roads mall but well worth taking the time to find it. Wish i cold give a higher rating.

  • Mark C.

Okay - so this place is not easy to find - no signs - inside of the old Southroads Mall - you'd never know it was there. This is a hidden gem. Go find it. Great Greek food. Regular Gyro and Chicken Gyro were what was eaten for lunch and they were outstanding. The menu is not large, but it more than covers the bases when you have a hankering for Greek. Owner said he had been in business for 31 years. Hope that he will stay in business for many more. If you have never been, give it a try.

    (5)
  • Sara L.

Tiny place, hidden away in the old Southroads mall. I never would have known it was there if I hadn't worked at the gym down the hall! Fast, casual, affordable.. And John is the kindest, most caring owner! Just give it a try... help keep the place on the map!

    (5)
  • Patricia C.

I thought I'd written a review of John's but don't see it, so here goes- this place iis great fast casual. He has Greek food as well as American things like Hamburgers, and the food is a great price, with a daily special from the menu on sale. The Gyro is made to order, so if you don't like onions, he'll leave them off. The Chicken and potatoes are absolutely delicious and Gryros and Tziki sauce are out of this world. Generous portions fill you up. John is very pleasant and remembers you. He has been in this location in the lower level of Southroads for years and I am praying he doesn't retire any time soon.

One reason you should stop in to Southroads Mall: JOHN'S GRECIAN DELIGHT! Reasons why you need to try John's Grecian Delight at least once: 1) The first, and I think the most important reason I think--the most awesome customer service! John is so personable and friendly, that you just can't NOT order something from him :-) He also is from Greece, so I'm pretty sure he knows what Greek food tastes like, so he is most likely delivering us authentic Greek food! 2) The food is SUPER inexpensive! I got the Wednesday special which included a salad, roasted chicken, potatoes, and pita bread for $4.50. My sister ordered the slovaki on pita that had lamb kabobs for $3.95. My daughter wanted fries, we got a basket for $1.00. All together, we paid a whopping $10.59! Just AMAZING! We also splurged and ended up getting a chocolate cheesecake pastry for $1.55. 3) The food is really good! I am quite a picky eater and I am afraid to try other Greek restaurants because I don't particularly like the chicken at other Greek restaurants. We tried John's today because my sister was craving Greek food. I can say I was really impressed! The chicken was tasty and tender, not too much on the bitter side, which is why I don't really like Greek chicken to begin with! Wow. Reopened my eyes to Greek food. The potatoes where just mouthwatering! I don't really know what's inside them, but they sure do beat regular old mashed potatoes. They don't need anything extra, that's for sure. The pita bread, by itself, was absolutely delicious! Wow, I don't think I can say I would just eat a pita bread by itself, but here, I would! The salad was great too. Not sure what type of dressing I got. It was orange, but it was good. It took us almost a whole hour to just finish our food. We had to savor every moment we had! And now, the pastry! Super good! The sugar topping was just so yummy! The inside, the chocolate cheesecake filling, was also to die for! And the crust? Well, I am a big fan of crispy and flaky crusts. It was good. So good, I will definitely be eating here again. So, in summary, you should at least TRY John's Grecian Delight at least once. I'm pretty sure you'd come back!

LOVE this place! I am often amazed that John's isn't a forgotten eatery - after all, it is located in the almost deserted Southroads Mall... With the exception of the folks at TD Ameritrade, does anyone else go there? I kid, I kid. John's is a place where I go when I want a gyro and keep it close to the work place. While it's not exactly authentic, it is tasty... If you can, enjoy all that John's has to offer. If you like gyros, check John's out...You can't ever be disappointed when you've got gyros and the best tzatziki!

  • Jim D.

This was an establishment that I have frequented on many occasions when PayPal was located at Southroads. Me and the guys had a nickname for this place, Yak Face. The food is delicious and you will not be disappointed! John is a very nice guy and I need to get back there!!

  • Ian W.

Johns food is hands down the best Greek in town. I've had just about everything Greek you can get in omaha its all good, but Johns has bigger portions, bigger flavor, and smaller price! Give it a try and see what I'm talking about!

  • Summer M.

Best Gyro Ever!!! This place is hidden at the bottom of the Southroads Mall in Bellevue. When Ameritrade leaves the mall I hope they move to a better location because I would hate to see them go out of business. And the prices are CHEAP for the amount of food you get!! Love love loved it! :-)

    (5)
  • Michael B.

If you really don't want to drive to the Greek district in Omaha then these gyros will really do the trick. I would say for overall dining experience to go to Greek Islands. Additionally this place is buried in a practically closed down mall. Kinda creepy.

  • Carla J.

I used to go to this place all the time when I was a kid (when Southroads actually had stores) and a few years ago someone told me it closed. When I learned through yelp that it was still open, I was so excited! I was worried that it wouldn't taste as good as I remembered, but it was better! Gyros, baklava, fries, everything is great. I want to try the spanakopita next time. It was fun to see that the same guy was still pretty much running the place single-handedly. Thank you John's for still being in business! The hours are in one of the photos posted, but I'll post them too... Mon-Fri 9-7 Sat 11-3

I've been coming here off an on for about a year now and have always been pretty happy with the food. Typically I'd call this a 3.5 star operation but today I had the best gyro since my last trip to Greece five years ago. The flavors were all spot on and really delicious. The gyro was packed full and the pita bread was super soft and wonderful. The fries are also quite tasty. The salad is meh but it comes with the Gyro Plate special so whatever. Don't be deceived by the location. It really is in the basement of this old abandoned mall.

  • Jesse B.

Absolutely amazing food. John that runs the place is truly Greek and is very friendly. The Gyro Supreme is my staple, which has peppers, onions, Tzatziki sauce, tomatoes, and gyro meat (which is a mixture of lamb and beef, mostly beef), all on a flatbread. The fries are the big thick steak fries and are satisfying. It is in the middle of a dead mall, but finding it is not difficult. Prices are definitely cheap, I feel like I should be paying more because of the quality of the food and service.

My wife and I had heard about John's from several friends and seen the reviews on Yelp, but we finally went there yesterday and wish it hadn't taken us so long. The food was delicious, the service was quick, and John is the friendliest owner/operator I have met in a restaurant. We both had the Gyro Plate, which comes with a gyro, fries, and a salad. The salad is your average fare, but the potatoes we got were great, roasted to perfection and then simmered in a garlicky-lemon and olive oil sauce. I think the potatoes were actually another dish entirely, but John let us substitute them for the fries and I highly recommend doing that. The gyros were also delicious, with meat cut freshly from the gyro log, pitas grilled to perfection while you watch, and THE best tzatziki I have ever had (don't tell my wife!). The tzatziki alone is a reason to return to John's; I have eaten at numerous Greek restaurants, from Seattle to San San Diego, and I have never encountered such a great tzatziki; it was the perfect compliment to the feta and lamb on the gyro. The gyro itself was so full it was impossible to close properly, so make sure to grab napkins: you'll get messy but you won't care. The price at John's was excellent as well: 2 gyro plates totalled just over $12, which is a steal for the amount of food we recieved. The only downside of John's is its location: the basement of the (nearly closed down?) Southroads Mall is not doing John any favors. My recommendation is to park out back of the mall and go downstairs once you're inside. You can't miss John's: it's the only place that is open and you'll smell the cooking lamb. As difficult as it is to find (there are no signs outside to advertise!), John's is definitely worth the trip, as well as all the subsequent return trips!

I had no idea that an excellent Greek restaurant was hiding in the depths of ye olde Southroads Mall, or the Southroads Technology Center or whatever it is called since Ameritrade is there. The decor is pretty basic (okay, quite dated) but the friendly service and delicious food will make you forget you are sitting in a half-empty mall watching grandparents powerwalk past you. There are spinning meats, flatbreads, salads, fantastic tzatziki, and all your classic good stuff. This is not food-court Greek food. Servings are generous, prices are very good. You will leave happy and full and probably take some of your order home for later. The restaurant is in the south end of the mall, not the Ameritrade end.

John's is fabulous and cheap! I have been going to John's since I was a little kid in the mall. I love his food and he is a nice and friendly guy too. They have great daily specials. This is just a fabulous little privately owned Greek restaurant.
