We hired Colleen to cater our wedding in July. We liked her from the first time we met her. She was easy to work with and very accommodating for what we wanted, plus her prices are very reasonable. Her staff were friendly and flexible. Even though the timing of the day ended up differing slightly from what we had originally told her because of how things went earlier in the day, dinner still ran smoothly and she adjusted easily and without complaint. Even with being slightly over salted, the food was delicious and we had several guests tell us how much they enjoyed the meal. We would absolutely recommend her services to anyone looking for a caterer!

The Black Crow

I was impressed to find this dining option in such a tiny town. The decor was tasteful, kind of interesting with the dead crows, but nice. Low lighting, could even be considered a little intimate. I loved that the tablecloth was a big piece of paper to color on. For some people, that might not be as appealing. Before we understood it, we looked at each other like uhh where's the nice white tablecloth. This is until we discovered the crayon basket. Life changing. Maybe we came on a bad day or at a bad time because I heard this was a great place. I ordered the salad nicoise, my friend had the stir fry special. When our bread basket came, it was pretty dry. My friend was not happy with her meal. She said the broccoli was raw and the "stir fry" sauce was basically brown gravy. I did enjoy my salad- smoked salmon, olives, eggs, potatoes, onions, broccoli and dressing- but how hard is that to mess up? I think the menu options are pretty impressive for the community and if I would try this place again.
I personally believe this is the best place for lunch in Beatrice. The Stromboli is amazing! I have never had a bad experience here and would recommend it to everyone!
Probably 4.5 stars, but, finding this in the town of Beatrice bumps it up to 5. I read a few of the reviews on Yelp and TripAdvisor before trying this place. Dont' get to Beatrice very often, but, it was between this and the Mexican joint. I gotta say, I'm happy I tried Black Crow. Most of the negative reviews I read had to do with it being higher priced... Well, let me say, if this was in Lincoln or Omaha, most dishes would be $5 to $10 higher pretty easily. Most dinner dishes are just under the $20 range although a couple were closer to $15 and there were some closer to $25. Can't recall what the Pizza's cost. I had the Shrimp Rissotto dish along with the House Salad. The house vinigarette dressing was awesome. Shrimp Rissotto dish was very solid. Good-sized portion and seasoned quite well. Who would think you could get Rissotto in Beatrice, NE? Not me for sure. I'd be interested to come back at lunch as I heard they serve Gyro's. I would have to think a gyro at this quality of place would be amazing.

Playa Azul Authentic Mexican Restaurant

Reviews:
Playa Azul is another one of those restaurants that aren't unique in what they offer foodwise. It's usually good no matter what you order, but it just seems that you've had this meal before in another small town Mexican food restaurant. The servers are all very nice and the service is fast. They are very kid friendly with their fish tank, chips and salsa right away, and usually the servers will stop and talk with the kids which my 4 year old son just loves If you're in the mood for Mexican, don't expect something completely unique foodwise, but you can expect consistently good service, food, and drinks.
My mom always brings me here when I come to visit her in Kansas. Being from San Francisco, I have pretty high standards when it comes to food. This place is fabulous! I love that they have fresh avocado available for many of their dishes. Avocado is a must have for me! Also, their margaritas are delicious and an excellent deal! It does kinda disturb me how BRIGHT GREEN they are, but what can you expect when it's served out of a slushie machine? This place is not as spicy as I'm used to getting in California, but that's okay because I'm not a big fan of spiciness. I got a chicken tostada with poblano peppers, it was delicious and enormous. The ingredients seem really fresh and tasty! The cherry on top is the great service! I look forward to coming back when I'm in town again.
just......ok. Not sure why its so highly rated. Not bad......just O.K.

The food is served hot and delicious. What I like most about this place is how you can customize your order and they're so willing to accommodate you. Want to add extra vegetables to your dish? Want to add vegetables to a dish that normally doesn't have vegetables? Extra sauce? Less sauce? Just let them know. Prices are very reasonable. Portions are large enough that you can have leftovers the next day.
Hot food. Nothing special.
I don't eat a lot of Chinese food, but went here to try their seafood special I had heard about, and was very pleased. Shrimp, scallops, and crab meat in a brown sauce which was rich and not "twangy", with broccoli, carrots, etc., with a big pile of steamed rice. Very good.

Back Alley Eatery

513 Court St
Beatrice, 68310
Reviews:
The decor is dated but the food was good. Stick to the smoked fare and the homemade pies. The steak is cooked in an electric char broiler. The service is good, but don't tell them it's OK, you might get slapped. I recommend you try it
Back alley is (thankfully) a place that you can get something with real flavor and doesn't taste like it just came out of the microwave. The BBQ is great for the area. They have a variety of different sauces that you put on yourself rather than getting your meat slathered in it in the back. The decor is nothing to write home about and frankly, kind of confusing for a barbecue place, but everything seems clean and we'll cared for. The service there is always good. I always seem to get a server that reminds me of a grandma. She's always right there the second you need something, always suggesting things for you to try and always trying to convince you you have a little more room for pie(which you need to at least try to leave room for). If you're like me and always seem to bring home half of your meal in a box, it always tastes as good to me as it did the day before. As others have said the cheesecakes and pies are fantastic, so at least split a piece with whoever you're with. The location seems a bit odd and tucked away after the moved on the east side of town, but it's worth the trip if you are in the mood for barbecue!
I stopped in here with my family on a recent trip home and was not disappointed. I tried were the fried apples this time, which were DELICIOUS, all warm and cinnamon-y, as well as the white bean chili (I think that's what it was...) which was also EXTREMELY delicious. Another successful visit!

There are tons of flies and the high school employees working there were playing around while they were cleaning the dinning area. Would recommend to pass on this one!
