Chicken fried steak and ribeye, both excellent. CFS nice batter & flavor, ribeye a little tough but great flavor. Better than anything back home in Florida so far.

Dear Gordon Ramsey please come help this place. The staff is terrible and we have been Waiting for our food for over 40 mins. Drink empty. Salad plates sitting in front of us.

There really is not much good about this place but when you visit Ainsworth there are not many options except too camp in Long Pine and grill out. I've been to the Golden Steer about once or twice a year during the hunting season for the past 40 years. This place has gotten steadily worse over that time. The food is horrible i don't care what you order. If you say it is not then you haven't tasted good or great. The salad bar is a joke, the Chicken Fried Steak tastes like a frozen entree, the steaks taste like they were rode at the last rodeo and to top it all off my last visit the waitress flashed a rather large Plumbers Butt......yikes! .And the community of Ainsworth must like their Tennis because most of the TV's were showing ESPN's coverage of the US Open...at that point it couldn't get any worse. But hey, the beer was cold!

I am passing through Ainsworth and it is the only place that one can get a drink with dinner. I ordered the Angus burger as close to medium rare as they can cook it and it came out well done. The server offered to knock a dollar off . :-) Their version of a garden salad as a side with the burger is a small plate of ice burg lettuce with a few croutons on it. I am sorry, but since when is lettuce considered a salad? On the up side the two server / bar tenders in the bar area could not have worked harder to please. I left a $7.00 tip on a tab of $22.62. As they are working their butts off to service this place. If the burger had been cooked as I had ordered it, it would have been good.

Always have the New York Strip if you are in the mood for a good steak and if its a burger you're after you can't beat the swiss and shroom. Also try the special seasoning and ketchup they provide on the table.
