We stayed here for four nights recently, and after a bit of a rocky start, we had a great stay. I'd called and made a reservation about 10 days before we were due to arrive, and I'll admit I wondered if I should call the day before and remind them we were coming, but I didn't. Well, I guess I should have, because they entirely forgot about us, which we found out when we arrived to a darkened house at 8:30 pm. Apparently the doorbell doesn't work, so we had to call from our cell phone to get them to let us in! However, once they were reminded that we had, in fact, made a reservation (which turned out to be written in their reservation book after all), they welcomed us with open arms and had our room cleaned and ready in about 10 minutes. Since they hadn't made any menus out, they actually asked us what we wanted to eat for breakfast and had it ready for us the next morning. The room itself was very lovely and well-maintained. We were in the Canterbury Room, which features a clawfoot bathtub, and it was very spacious and well-decorated. The rest of the house was also in tip-top shape, and while we were there, we got to see the St. Patrick's Day decorations come down and the many, many Easter decorations go up. The breakfasts after the first day were wonderful three-course affairs, with fruit salad, pancakes and breakfast meats, and even a pastry for dessert. Brad and Jackie were excellent hosts, and I would urge anyone visiting the area to stay here rather than in one of the Harvey motels. At only $100 a night, it's definitely worth the extra money. Just remember to call the day before and confirm your reservation!
