Went with a few friends who live in Brevard. I was not really a fan. I ordered the fried Flounder and wasn't thrilled with the taste, the tartar sauce was too warm for my taste and my wife got the shrimp which she didn't like too much, and we must have gotten the bad waitress because she kept forgetting things we ordered. And the price wasn't that great either. I wouldn't go again.

When my Dad said he wanted to go to the 'Fish Camp" for lunch....I thought...."I've been to Brevard before....what is a Fish Camp"? Well I found out. It's a cool little hole in the wall type place just outside Brevard. This review is for Friday, Oct 2nd, 2009 So we went in, myself, my Dad, and my step-Mom. I looked at the inside and thought "Oh no! It's the Chelsea Soldiers Home cafeteria!" That would be the Chelsea Soldiers Home in Chelsea, MA. Where my Dad worked for over 40 years. Anyways, I had expected "the worst"....cause occasionally my Dad isn't shopping for "taste" on his restaurant picks. What a surprise for me! Had the Grilled Scallops, which came with green beans and hush puppies, and added a salad from their small, but very fresh and good salad bar. The scallops were good. Not Legal Sea Food good, but they were done to a golden brown on each side and the green beans, nice. The salad also helped out. I was good with the choice. It's not Legal Sea Food....but the prices aren't with Legal either. We may have spent $14 ea. I'd definitely go back to see if they can do it again.

Great food, decent prices, so-so service. I have visited this location twice. On both visits I was happy with the food, price, and atmosphere. The service was lacking though.

Fish Camp is hit or miss. On their best days the food is OK, not good but not bad; but on their worst days you just want to avoid. Unfortunately this is the only dedicated seafood restaraunt in town, but others do have a lot better options individually. (Trout at Hawg Wild for example.)

Food is consistently mediocre but the service is good and friendly. Very sad that they don't even serve trout but I guess they can't get it frozen and pre-breaded for their deep fryer. Fresh fish (I.e. non-frozen) doesn't seem to be their thing. There are better places to eat in town but if you like cheap diner food it is worth a try. The salad bar/all-you-can eat deal is not too bad.

So, I know it's easy to want to eat at a place with a name so easily manipulated into fun and games... But I have to forewarn anyone in the Brevard area, you should not have eaten at Pisgah's. I don't know what Chris H. was on when he went here, but for all you fairly lucid people out there, pisgah fish camp is not an experience one can easily recover from. I honestly think I could have ignited my saliva after eating my meal and my stomach felt as though a small person was struggling to escape from its confines. I'll also need to be using all 43 of the Biltmore's private restrooms. Everything was greasy and my fried chicken leaked all over me. The fish was jiggly, like jello,. I don't think fish is supposed to jiggle, especially when it's fried. The hush puppies were like a mouthful of sand.. Seriously, I think I have an idea of what freeze dried astronaut cornmeal must taste like. The biggest issue was the psychological mind games played with us. We ordered onion rings, and they were "aight" as the kids (which there were none of at Pisgahs, only a huge amount of geriatrics) say these days. That along with sweet tea that was pretty ok really made me feel comfortable... And the meal completely surprise destroyed my most intimate stomach parts. In short, should've gone to hawg wild.

Stopped in for a late lunch. Fish & chips and a shrimp dinner. We also had an appetizer of their onion rings. The homemade Ranch dipping sauce was a great compliment to the OR. Food was hot and fresh as well as tasty. Overall experience was positive. My only complaint is that over the years the decor etc. has become quite outdated and due for an upgrade.

I was pleasantly surprised! The last time I ate at Pisgah Fish Camp was in the middle 1980's when my children were Brevard College students, and the restaurant was in another location in an old building. Yesterday we were in the Brevard area for a weekend hiking trek in Dupont State Forest, and we were in the mood for seafood. We stopped at the Visitors' Center at the Chamber of Commerce, and the ladies there recommended Pisgah and told us how to find the "new" location. It was clean, spacious, and the decor was fish campy. Hubby ordered fried oysters and shrimp. I ordered fried flounder (kids menu). Our sides were baked potato, potato salad, slaw, & green beans. Everything was delicious! Tasty hush puppies too. Don't know when we'll be in Brevard again, but we'll eat at Pisgah Fish Camp.

The waitress we had was phenomenal. Super helpful with my sons food allergies and very nice and helpful every time she came by. The food is really just fine - typical cheap fried fish you find everywhere. If you are looking for a fancy fresh-caught fish restaurant, go somewhere else.

I would say that this is about 3.5 out of 5. There are no halves so I will round up. We went on a Sunday and were the youngest people there by about 30 years (I am in my early 40s). I was thinking, "Oh no, not another Shells or Bay Breeze." However, I will say that it was a pleasant experience. :) My wife got the rainbow trout and although it wasn't crazy with flavor, it was prepared perfectly as it was moist and flaky. Really good. We also ordered onion rings that were also good. I got a fish sandwich which had almost no fish in it. It was skimpy... and the kids got macaroni and cheese which had a little cheese on it, but no flavor. Think of making Kraft Macaroni and using a third of the powdered cheese. That was what the kids thought. We finished with the strawberry rhubarb pie and that was out of this world.... will go back for that. Other than that, the fish was good and the sides were acceptable... not amazing, but decent. I will probably go back but won't be a regular stop. Prices are very reasonable for going out for a meal.

I am from Brevard and moved to Oklahoma years ago. The first stop on my list for food on our vacation was "the Pisgah Fish Camp" Unfortunately, one of the greatest things about my favorite fishcamp since childhood was missing...... The tartar Sauce had been changed!!!!! Please bring back Pisgah Fish Camp tartar sauce!!!! It's just not the same. Everything else is FABULOUS, but I can't comee back until I know the old original tartar sauce is back!

Food is decent, service slow, definitely not a good value, be prepared to leave hungry.
