I used to eat at the original Sean Kelly's on a regular basis. Back then, and before they changed their menu to include Indian-inspired cuisine, the food and service was consistently satisfying and I was always comfortable recommending them to anyone who asked. When they first made alterations to their menu, I was sad to see a few of my favorites go, but the new menu items featuring an east Indian flair sounded appetizing and so I gave it a try. I fell in love with the coconut curry vegetable soup with Jasmine rice the first time I had it and eagerly talked it up to whomever would listen. A few weeks later, I ordered the soup again and was disappointed to find it was markedly worse; the broth was less cream and more oil and it had separated out, the rice was soggy (and I don't think it was even Jasmine rice that time, which is what is advertised on the menu), and the whole thing was more or less flavorless. I also ordered the Thai peanut chicken skewers and found those to be largely dry and flavorless as well (bummer, because I love a good peanut sauce). Fast-forward several months to the opening of the Stone of Accord: I'm excited because they have all the originals back! Shephard's pie, corned beef and cabbage, bangers n' mash, pasties with Guinness gravy, fish & chips, and pot pies... at first, I was loving it. My friends and I got addicted to the Reuben sandwich and the Fettuccine Coalmaker. The cheesy chips were our favorite appetizer. All was well for a while... until last night. My uncle and aunt wanted to take me out to dinner and I recommended the Stone of Accord as they had never been there before. I assured them it was marvelous and they wouldn't regret it. Boy, was I wrong. Our waiter was prompt and nice enough. I will admit that I was pleased with the wine she suggested I try, but that was the only positive aspect of our dining experience. For an appetizer, we ordered the cheesy chips, an old favorite of mine. The pub chips are tossed with asiago and gorgonzola cheese and baked, then covered in a garlic & gorgonzola sauce and sprinkled with scallions. The sauce was cold, but I shrugged it off because the appetizer still tasted pretty good and I assumed the entrees would be wonderful. I ordered the Fettuccine Coalmaker, my aunt ordered the pot pie, and my uncle got the fish & chips. It took a little longer than I would have liked to get our food, and the first thing to disappoint me when the food was set down in front of us was the quality of the fish & chips. I'd ordered this same dish before at the old Sean Kelly's and the 4 pieces of fish that came with the large order were substantial in size and looked breaded and battered by hand. The four little pieces of fish on my uncle's plate looked like glorified Van den Kamp's frozen fish sticks atop a rather ungenerous portion of fries. This is a $14 entree, mind you. I noticed within the first few bites of my Fettuccine that the Asiago cream sauce was severely lacking and the cook seemed to have compensated for that with a hefty dose of pure grease. When my aunt cut into her pot pie, there was nothing but dry vegetables and meat-- not a drop of gravy to be found (the menu advertises "a creamy sauce"). At this point, I was profoundly embarrassed to have promoted this restaurant to them with so much enthusiasm. About halfway through dinner, my uncle accidentally knocked his heavy pint glass of ice water against the lip of the dainty little glass his Glenlivet had been served in and shattered half the rim. When our waiter came back to check on us, my uncle pointed it out to her and asked if he could have a replacement, perhaps served in a more heavy duty glass. The waiter asked him if he was sure he didn't want to finish it out of the original (now broken) glass. I'll admit that there's a chance that she might have been joking, but her face looked pretty serious, and my uncle had to explain to her that he was not comfortable finishing a drink that potentially had bits of broken glass in it. Our waiter then analyzed the amount of scotch left in the glass and proclaimed that it appeared to be half gone, so she was only willing to comp half of it rather than replace it outright. My uncle graciously agreed to this, but I was annoyed at how stingy this seemed. For dessert, we shared the Sticky Toffee Pudding, which is really a piece of some kind of dry cake served with not nearly enough toffee sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Also, I had a sour stomach for a few hours afterward, I assume from the massive amounts of grease in my meal. I probably won't return to the Stone of Accord anytime in the near future, and I can assure you my uncle and aunt will never go back there again. Indeed, they're probably wary of my taste in restaurants and my idea of good quality. Bad form, Stone of Accord.

The food and ambience is good. Service is alright. Definitely not a favorite but the pasties are worth going back for.

Lots of good choices here!! The food is great and I like the fact that there isn't just the "norm" to choose from. The drinks are awesome too. If you like spicy I recommend the Caesar with sriracha infused vidka!! My wife had it and it's really good. The staff is pretty good too. Fairly quick service, but it isn't the type of place you go to if you only have 30 minutes anyway... Go here for stellar breakfast too.

Good food not bad prices. It's your standard Irish dishes. The Dubliner is a solid sandwich and the pub chips are always delicious.

I have had really great service here and really bad service here. Obviously someone is screwing up the waitstaff training, or they just don't care. Breakfast is a complete mess here. They are trying to be cute and throw there own "Irish" version on the menu but at some point it is just confusing. I DO NOT want mashed potatoes for breakfast. What I do want is hash browns. On a couple of the plates they serve what they call home-fries. This is so far from the truth they should be water boarded. What they are is a salt infused little squares that look as if they where previously frozen, which I believe they are. They are totally inedible. Dinner on the other hand is very decent. The Schnitzel was great as was the gravy on it. The Fettuccine with garlic and sausage was also very good. As for JJM's assertion that the Shepard's Pie was mean. Meh, it is made with beef and not Lamb, boring. I will never eat breakfast here again but I will pop in for dinner once and awhile. I wish I could remember the name of the male waitstaff who actually has an Irish sounding name but I can't. Amazing waiter for our table of seven on a busy Friday night. Jenna on the other hand for breakfast on a day that was not busy was slow with mediocre service.

Delicious! I ordered the Fettucini Curry and loved every bite! There was plenty to have as leftovers as well. The servers are really friendly and were great on making sure we were enjoying our meal. Highly recommend!

Terrible service. Truly one of the worst dining experiences I have had in my entire life. 20 minutes before they even asked for our drink order. Just straight up bad. Avoid. Edit: The Reuben made several members of my family sick. Seriously avoid.

The original Sean Kelly's, downtown (which may be closed now) stood out as a real neighborhood bar where there were regulars and a bit of community. It felt welcoming and I enjoyed the food. However, I've been to this location twice and I'm just not feeling it. Service was great both times, so they definitely get points for that. And the salad I had on my last visit boosted them from 2 to 3. However the fish & chips were way too greasy, and the pasties were 90% puff pastry and very little filling. Bathrooms are wheelchair accessible.

I was passing thru to new job and the lady at the hotel suggested The Stone of Accord, which was next door and no driving, very convenient. She did me right. The bartender was knowledgeable and friendly. Decent selection of beers and the Saurbraten (spelling?) was fantastic. If in Missoula again will definitely stop.

I've come here a few times and the one thing that stood out was that the servers recognized me, which is rare in a restaurant. They make a mean shephard's pie, a great tuna melt and some of the other no-quite Irish dishes they make are superb, such as their curry shrimp and noodle dish. They have random drink specials that are often pretty unique - a basil-styled refreshment comes to mind. Others have noted that their portions have reduced in size - I'm not sure what these people are talking about, or if they are expecting their entire day's caloric intake in the first spoonful? The portions are plenty, unless you are severely overweight, of which you should probably put the fork down anyhow. Others also note poor service, but I've never had this experience - it might be that these folks are used to fast-food. Burger King is just down the road, maybe they should go there if they want their party of 5 to be served within two minutes! The service is perfect and the times I've been there when they are swamped, they have been clear to me of the situation and it's never been a big deal. Great place, great people, great food.

Had dinner and drinks here last night. Great place Bangers and mash was real good. Waitress was great fast service.

So many flavored vodkas. Had a great time experimenting with new drinks. Excellent service and a fun crowd. I wish I could pick this bar up and move it to Seattle so I could be a regular!

    1) The good: Service was pleasant and quick. Decent atmosphere, although seems to be kind of cookie cutter knock-off Irish bar. It was crowded, so I had high hopes for my meal. The portions were very big, plenty of leftovers. 2) The bad: I got the ribs, their specialty?, which the waiter talked up. They came with cornbread, sauteed veggies, and mashed potatoes (all delicious). It was covered in onion crumbs (meh) and smothered in gravy (also meh). Finally I was on to the main event; the ribs. They were absolutely disgusting. They were cooked to the point where there was not a drop of moisture left in them, and they kind of broke apart in flakes. Even smothered in gravy, onions, and mashed potatoes, they were barely edible. Undoubtedly the worst ribs I have ever had. 3) Bottom line: Some of the other peoples food looked good, and I've heard really good things about the breakfast, but I wont be back. Fool me once...

Great food, good service, and probably the coldest beer in town. If you are looking for something different but good stop in.

  • Nathan S.

Great breakfast, good soda bread, excellent ham, bacon, blueberry pancakes, brown gravy, and a good blend of coffee. I will eat breakfast here again... and again.

This comes across, at first, as a fairly ordinary strip-mall Irish pub made from the pieces that come with the Irish Pub Starter Kit. It's in new tilt-up construction in a part of town where everything looks like it was all built one night while everyone was asleep. But once you get inside it's clear that the place has a lot to offer. Yes, compared to downtown Missoula, the architectural charm is absent. But the staff is very friendly and great at their jobs. More importantly, the food is really good. Lots (if perhpas not 100%) of local ingredients. I had the duck fettucine. While the noodles certainly weren't handmade, ya wouldn't expect that--and the duck was delectable. Rich and flavorful, and, best of all, completely ungreasy. I'm adding a star for the duck fett. It was a special, though. They maintain a good lineup of draft and bottled beers, with a laudable emphasis on MT-brewed offerings. I would definitely hit this place again, though downtown is the place to go for places with a bit more personality.

Grumbling bellies led us here and they were most assuredly filled. Pasties had a super flaky crust and that was odd because I expected a more traditional pie-like crust. They just fell apart and were hard to eat. The flavor was decent though. The champs were strangely stiff and lukewarm but tasted good. Our other dish was a Dubliner pirogue special that had a broth with chopped corned beef. That was the better dish by far. Overall you just feel like you're at the Denny's of Irish Grub. The food is decent and filling but uninspired. This place was also loud. Super freakin' loud. The bright spot of the evening was our waitress. I especially appreciated her 'drum roll' when listing off their brews once she got to 'Bud Light'. We agreed that we'd give them another try on a night that wasn't so busy.

  • Nicole L.

Unfortunate service and the staff were largely unaffected by our concerns. They messed up our drink order (after 20 minutes of waiting), forgot a sandwich, told us they wouldn't charge us for the sandwich and then did, and then gave us attitude when we asked them to correct the mistake. The quality of food did not make up for the terrible service either. Icing on the cake... The only people that had the rueben got very sick shortly after lunch, so it's safe to assume their sickness came from that (this was literally the only thing that differed from everything that we ate yesterday). It was really a disappointing experience.

  • Jackie W.

Food was worth coMing back for but unfortunately the service could've been better. Got wrong wine, missed salad completely, & kind of fly by attitude after that. Noisy environment of you 're looking for a quiet meal.

It is now the only place in town to get Irish food, the one downtown has a redesigned menu. I've come here a lot and enjoyed the food every single time! There is a private room here and is great for a large group of people. I constantly order from the specials menu and have never been disappointed. It is also a great place to come for drinks and appetizers!

My fiancee and I enjoyed our second meal at Sean Kelly's Stone of Accord last night. Once again, I was impressed. We came at the noonhour while the brunch-rush was still on. Instead of waiting for a table, the two of us grabbed a stool at the bar. We were greeted promptly and had our drinks in no time flat. I order a turkey sandwich and my fiancee ordered the bangers and mash. Now, if you're coming in for traditional bangers in mash, you'll be disappointed. But if you are willing to suspend your expectation for a meal, you be delighted by the excellence of the Sean Kelly's take on a mainstay of Irish "cuisine". The price was reasonable and the atmosphere is better than the orignal Sean Kelly's downtown. If you're looking for a pleasant dining experience, head to Stone of Accord. If you're looking for a bar, head downtown.

Very cool place, the Cuban sandwich was awesome. It's definitely a "locals" type of place but bartender and other patrons were very friendly.

Ive only been here once for brunch, but it was amaze-balls. I had the soda bread and Guinness gravy with eggs. DELISH! I loved all their brunch options and the service was great! It's pretty far away for us to come to, but we were not disappointed!

Kind staff, but food is way way too over priced. The food was also so salty I didn't want to eat it. But because it was so expensive I forced myself to choke it down.

Not too shabby. Only went here for a quick lunch, and got the tuna melt sammich, and it was really pretty tasty. The fries were super good too. Service was good. Um, kinda, nuff said!

Hello from Missoula, Sean Kelly's used to have better service and quality of food. Hopefully, it is just a temporary burp in an other wise excellent record. Food seldom tastes as good in real life as it does in your imagination, but it should not be that much different! Hope they get things back on track. Judy H. Wright,

Stopped here passing through town. Very busy and a bit understaffed but cool atmosphere and HUGE menu!! Homemade soup was awesome. All the breakfast and lunch foods looked delicious.

I am a solo traveler having driven a long way, so I sat at the bar. The bar tender was OK, but not very engaging. I am a Guinness Drinker and they charge $5/pint. It's too high. The food was good but pricey for what it was. Would I go there again? No. There is better food, friendlier service and better value elsewhere. Skip it.

Sean Kelly's has awesome brunch and I try to go there every time I am Missoula. I love their Club Benny (an Eggs Benedict with turkey, bacon and tomato) with a spicy Bloody Mary. It is a great place to go with big groups for brunch and dinner too. There are some very unique items on the menu, delicious appetizers and a wide selection of beers on tap. However, the last two times that I have been here (always on Sunday mornings) the service has been horrible. Most recently, my 2 friends and I almost left after receiving our coffee and sitting for 15 minutes. The restaurant was only about half full and we knew what we wanted before she had even brought the coffee out. After finally asking another waitress to take our order, our original waitress came over and said "Sorry ladies!", giggled and walked off. When it came time to pay the bill, my friend had to literally poke her head in the kitchen to ask someone for it. Prior to these two visits, the service has been great. The staff is very attentive, suggesting new menu items and brews, and it is generally very quick. I'm not sure what happened the last couple times, but I hope they get it figured out!

Great breakfast, awesome soda bread with honey butter and neat atmosphere. Wish they had breakfast in the winter but well worth the wait until Summer.

This is a great place and when in Missoula do not miss it! Food is great, hot and served in timely manner. Bar is fully stocked and has the great local brew Big Sky on tap. The bar tenders are friendly, like most of the folks in Missoula. On this trip I had the Bangers and Mash, the gravy on this was one of the best I have ever had. I wish they had put just a bit more on the serving. This is not the kind of bar I would just sit and hang out in, I would go down town for that, but it was good to sit at the bar, meet other travelers and enjoy my dinner.

My gf and I were in the area on vacation and saw the Stone of Accord on the way to our hotel. We stopped in on Friday around 7pm. We were seated promptly. After about 5 minutes we were brought some water. About 5 minutes later the waitress stopped by and apologized for the wait. She took our drink and dinner order - my gf ordered the clam chowder and a caesar salad; I ordered a house salad and the shepherds pie). Another 10 minutes passed and my gf received her clam chowder (no drinks, yet). She said the chowder was very good. Our drinks arrived about 5 minutes later. My salad was brought several minutes later. Pretty standard house salad including the thousand island dressing. Our main course was delivered a couple of minutes later while I was still eating my salad (ok, so they are still working out the kitchen timing). The shepherds pie included mushrooms which was not mentioned in the menu. I don't care for mushrooms so I spent most of my time picking them out. Given the inconsistent service (long wait and disjointed course delivery), I'd give this restaurant some time to work things out.

Fabulous menu. Always something new. Even the usual things are always good. Quick service and easy, sort of, access from I-90. The place can get a bit noisy during peak times.

OMG...I went last Sunday for brunch and had the Carmel Cinnamon French Toast, it was pretty much one of the best things I have ever eaten! Their food is always good breakfast, lunch and dinner, the only problem I ever have is deciding what to eat.

So I have been here a few times before because I have some friends who really like it. The menu is all over the place (traditional Irish miked with some random other dishes-mostly over priced) and seems to change frequently. I finally found a dish I liked (roasted pork stovies) but when I ordered it the other day it didn't come out well. The potatoes were cooked soggy and it didn't include everything listed on the menu. It also just looked really sloppy!!! It did not look so tasty anymore. The disappointment of not getting what I ordered was not the worst part. The service was horrible!!! After ordering and getting our drinks our server asked us to move tables!!! Keep in mind that you don't seat yourself at this restaurant. She asked us to move because she had a group coming in. This was really frustrating for us especially since she decided to basically ignore us the rest of the night. Never refilling my water or asking us if we needed anything or if the food tasted okay. To top it off, there was no large group that came in and they sat another couple in our previous booth. I will not be going back! Huge waste of money!

5 of us dining for breakfast in early August. We had some great food, good variety, at a great price. Just opened in 2009. Convenient to I-90 in Missoula too.

Great place to have a comfortable meal with family and friends. It was cozy and warm with quite a few customers very late on Easter night when most of the town was shut. So many restaurants crowd you into tiny booths or tables right next to each other that you can barely walk around but here you can spread out and and get cozy with the comfort food. Very nice beer selection, the taps were all local brews and our waitress was very helpful with her descriptions and recommendations of the beers. The serving sizes of entres as well as appetizers were very generous. I had stroganoff with steak and mushroom, my hubby got meatloaf with mash and gravy. Both dishes were completely fantastic. Also had the fried green beans with cajun sauce. Delish! Daughter got chicken lasagna which looked incredible but I didn't personally try it and Son got fish and chips which he said was just so-so. Great staff, great food and great beer.

My wife and I went to Stone of Accord while visiting Missoula in August 2015. The first time we had a good experience. The second time were in Missoula we stopped in for afternoon drinks. My wife had the Guinness, It tasted thin, like it had been watered. Later that night we came back for dinner. She got wine because watered Guinness tasted like swill, and I got a pint of Smithicks beer. This time my beer taste thin and watery. Nope. I don't go to places that water the beer. I can't prove that the beer was watered. I'm just saying what it tasted like to us, and we both drink enough beer to know when its good -- or not. Their food was OK, but I don't go there.

I think everything on the menu looks amazing. Maybe it's because I was starving but LITERALLY the whole menu looks amazing. Portion sizes are huge. I had a half order of sausage, mushroom fettuccine with a creamy garlic sauce and split it with my husband...me still had leftovers. Crazy!! My only irritant was the bar tender was talking so loudly that we could here him across the restaurant. Ugh it was just one of those voices. But again, I think I was irritated because I was hungry. That stuff normally doesn't bother me. For the cost. This can't be beat.

I'm continuously impressed. I visit often & I have yet to have a disappointing meal. Menu includes traditional Irish dishes & flavors that haven't been matched in Missoula. Corned beef is always perfectly seasoned & it always tastes fresh. The soup specials are always creative - bland options such as tomato, potato, blah blah bore me. Every time I ask for the soup special it's likened to some bewitched ingredients blended from the holy hand mixers of a goddess...this is a good thing. My favorite dishes are bangers & mash, pork stovies, or any sandwich that includes brie. Expect to pay about $12 per person. Soda bread can be ordered by the loaf (I believe the price is $25), but orders must be made a day in advance. Not sure if it's made following a traditional Irish recipe; nevertheless, delicious & I always ask for more. Various liquor & IPA's available at the bar. I've heard the Moscow Mule is top notch here.

Eat here every time I'm in Missoula. Menu has much to choose from but always go with Bangers and mash. Portions are huge and it goes perfect with the cold smoke beer which is on tap.

  • Guy H.

Very tasty. Well prepared. Bangers and mash had appropriate texture and flavor, not mushy as served in some restaurants. Would return if in Missoula again. Atmosphere was a bit loud, but that is to be expected in an Irish Pub setting on the first night of the NFL draft. A very enjoyable setting.

The first time I went there, I ordered the shepherd's pie. It came with soup that tasted like they dumped a whole tin of pepper in it. Not liking pepper, I did not like the soup. The waiter insisted on switching it out for the other soup - Cheesy Artichoke. Failed to mention it was made with beer. Don't like beer. The Shepherds Pie - again with the pepper. However, the appetizers - Cheesy Chips and their special Arancini (rice balls) with Sun Dried Tomato Aioli were amazing. Second time, I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Wrap, not so good. Extremely dry. But again amazing Cheesy Chip - I'm addicted! Third trip - I struck gold. They had this special Elk Meatballs with Penne and a Gorganzolla Cheese sauce. Out of this world, the best dish I have ever had. They became my favorite restaurant that day. I have not had a bad meal since then. Just wish they would make the Rice Balls again

If you are passing through and need a place to go...EAT HERE. We ordered potato skins and spinach artichoke dip for apps.we both got the jambalaya. I don't like spinach artichoke dip and I ate 1/4 of it. The jambalaya was amazing! I ate enough to make myself miserable. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and they did a great job when choosing what andouille to use. The service was pretty aloof and I have a feeling it's like that because the food is so freakin good. But IDC, it's that good.

  • Jean V.

Food was OK. Fish and chips were edible and the flatbread pizza was acceptable if not outstanding. We had to ask for a wine and beer list and the server, though adequate, was not very helpful unless asked a specific question. She was more of an "Automatron. The ambience of the restaurant was nice enough. It just didn't quite measure up to our expectations.

Good breakfast, interesting restaurant and even better Huckleberry pancakes. We ordered a plate for the table. Service was slow and nothing special and the place was fairly empty.

Best Moscow Mules in town!! Bartenders got it down on making their drinks there!!! Great atmosphere there kick back and relax!

We had shepherd pie and sesame encrusted ahi tuna. The beef in the pie had different spices than usual, but very delicious. The ahi was cooked to perfection and with golden brown red skin potatoes. Yum! We also had the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Excellent list of beverages from the bar. The atmosphere is great, the service is super friendly, and food hits the table very quickly. It is our new Missoula favorite.

Not a bad little Irish place near the c'mon inn. Good Irish menu: I had the pasties which were great. Guinness was not bad but had bubbles on the head... Sacrilege! Drop one star for a bit of funky smell. Staff are nice. Casino and liquor store attached.

Hello... customer service please!!! Where are you customer service??? Only thing good here was the beer, Blackfoot IPA. Wanted a a simple burger and fries. Requested my burger be medium to mid-rare and as you can see in the pic it was well done... Cardboard! I showed my server extremely overlooked burger and off he went to the kitchen. He returned and told me that the cook stated he could not serve a burger under 140 degrees. I stated that clearly my burger was cook well above that based on what I received. I even attempted to show my server pics of what a correctly cooked burger would look like when cooked at 140 degrees. (iPhone - looked up the Montana food regulations. I also found several pics of what ground beef looks like when cooked at 140 degrees to 150, 160 and hotter). It had a nice pink to reddish center which clearly mine did not. My server seemed impressed I was able to pull up everything on my iPhone and yet he did nothing to fix the situation. The most disturbing part of my experience was the fact that the cook clearly lied and my server made no attempt to satisfy their customer. They could care less about their customers here. It's extremely disappointing...
