BEST BURGER JOINT IN LIBBY! Friendly staff, great burgers, full ice cream bar, clean bathrooms, did I mention the friendly staff (they really were super cool, and definitely could tell we were not local). Anyhow, some people kinda poo poo the place because of one bad person or thing, this place was awesome! Don't let anything stop talking from coming.
Great stop!! Friendly, clean and very generous portions! Tasty too!!! Kids meals are fun and wrap was huge.
A great option for kids! Good burgers, great fries and a full ice cream counter! The kid's meals come in cool car boxes. The place is modern, clean, the people were friendly and it made for a great stop along the highway. We have an RV and parked along the side street...super easy.

We celebrated my husband's birthday with some friends at the Red Dog. We honestly could not have found a better place! It's winter, so the place wasn't bustling like it in the summer and it is a not so well hidden restaurant. When you visit the Red Dog, you just have to have the pizza. When I saw on the menu that the crusts are gluten free I was a little worried. Don't be. It is a crisp chewy mouthful of goodness! So, if you reading this, you are probably thinking you are going to try the pizza ( although the menu has a good variety). But the pizza you HAVE to have is the BBQ Chicken and Pineapple. To die for! The BBQ sauce is a spicy sweet explosion of flavors in your mouth. Add in the chicken, pineapple, and cheese and you are wondering why you never tried this before! The relaxed atmosphere and the food is a great, wear your loose jeans experience. If you are coming in the summer, take a drive through the Yaak afterwards. You will be awed by the beauty!
The pizza rocks! The fried food platter and nachos were good, too! Friendly staff! Heard the salads are good so I will be back.
Wow! So I'm visiting this incredibly small town in Montana for Thanksgiving. My friends take us out for pizza at the Red Dog. The pizza gets a B+ for a tangy sauce and plenty of veggies. We had cheap pitchers of beer (kokanee) which also earns some points (for being cheap). HOWEVER, the greatest thing about this place are the ladies who work there! They were awesome! Our server was funny, polite, and kept replacing our mugs, keeping them nice and frosty! The locals we met were also really friendly. Since Libby is a place most people drive through, it might be nice to swing by here on your way to one of the ski towns.

Great diner! I was in town for a week & I think I had breakfast here every day. There lunch specials are also great. I will be back!
Solid little cafe with very reasonable prices. When is the last time you paid $1.00 for a cup of coffee? Good food and friendly prompt service. Our food came out way before I was expecting it. You won't be disappointed.
Diner food at it's worst...at least for lunch. We had had breakfast at Henry's in the past and it was pretty good, so now that our favorite diner in Troy is closed, we decided to give it a try. My stomach is really sorry we did. We were greeted by a rather surly waiter, who although efficient, acted like he would rAther be anywhere but where he was. An eye roll when I opted for water as my drink sure didn't help his case. I ordered the egg salad sandwich on wheat with fries, my husband the chicken salad. He asked for grilled, he got fried. My fries arrived a cold greasy mound of...well, slop. The waiter, having perked up by now, apologized and got me a new plate... Of hot, greasy, floppy, undercooked fries. Ugh. You had to search for the egg salad within the sandwich. ( I think the lettuce was thicker), but the single beet garnish really made the plate ( not ). My husbands salad was small and nothing special. Portion was small and he was so hungry afterwards that he came home and made a sandwich. He did like the iced tea though. My advice, stick to breakfast, or skip it all together.

The huckleberry flapjacks are amazing! Great staff, great vibe! I highly recommend!
Truly a diamond in the rough way out in the far reaches of northwest Montana. The people were friendly and helpful. The food was plentuful and cooked with care and gooood. The atmosphere was like being at home with family and friends. The best part was the homemade Huckleberry syrup for the pancakes. The menu was a entertainment in itself. A local artist adds humor with reality...
We were going through town and decided to get off the main road and go to the old downtown. My experience has to taught me that this is usually the best way to mix with the locals and have hometown cooking. I couldn't be more wrong. The place was only 1/3 full, so we expected to be in and out of there in no time. We waited 75 minutes for our breakfast to come. 2 other people where seated next to us when we arrived and their wait was just as long. What made matters worse was the owner was seating at the counter talking politics the whole time and didn't lift a finger to help in the kitchen, despite the fact that he was dressed in cooking attire. We both ordered eggs over medium. Mine came runny and my partners came hard. I am not a big eater, so I choice only 1 pork chop instead of 2. Should have ordered 2. That was the thinnest pork chop in the world. Dry as could be. The coffee was thin and watered down. I felt sorry for the waitress, she was very attentive. Stay on highway 2. Go to one of the other cafes in town.

This was a good recommendation! Great food, drinks, appetizers, and great service. If you're not a local try the huckleberry margarita or long island ice tea. Salad bar and soups were great, real fresh! Prime rib dinner was generous, and so was my sandwich-the club.
All-You-Can-Eat Salad Bar was nothing more than a glorified tossed salad. It lacked the traditional eggs, cheese, etc. The soup however was okay. The Western Burger had but one onion ring on it. The bread a little dry. Best part of the meal? The sweet potato fries - they were delicious! NOTE: No Dr. Pepper served here. :\
This place was the black sheep of my trip.... I was hungry as usual and told my husband to stop in the next restaurant to grab some food. He saw this place and thought it may be decent. The staff was friendly and polite. I feel sorry for them for working at a place that just don't have good food! My husband had the special of the night a sirloin steak in a type of mushrooms sauce. He was smart. He ordered something that they made that day. I on the other hand was not that smart. I ordered a lasagna and who knows when they made it. The lasagna wasn't that bad. It was just not fresh. It looked like those frozen ones that you get from a grocery store. The sodas they brought to my husband were so clear. It looked like they put water on them . Hopefully I won't ever had to come back here!

Bleh. That about sums it up. I didn't expect the moon and stars when I pulled into this place. The service was decent. Mediocre Chicken Caesar Salad, even though I'm pretty sure the dressing was ranch...glad I got it on the side. Chicken was obviously pre-cooked frozen chicken with fake grill marks, but the crumbled bacon on the salad was awesome. My favorite part was when the person I was dining with asked prior to ordering "is the potato salad homemade?" The waitress replied, "sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't, not sure about today." Um ok. The food fills your belly and the service is friendly, but don't expect too much.
Ate there on June 26th and all looked good walking in. Where to start? The spaghetti sauce was canned and made my kid ill, frozen fries were reheated in grease and not cooked all the way through (soggy and gross), hamburgers had a strange aftertaste, the bacon appeared to have been pre-cooked then reheated and plunked on the burger, a grease soaked bun and flat soda pop. Other than that the booth was comfortable and the restrooms were clean. Next time we'll stop at McDonalds, at least we know what we'll get from them..
Ok, so I'm a relativist. What I would rate 4 stars in NYC would blow this place out of the water, of course... but you're in rural Montana and you're lucky to find a place with edible food that isn't filled with smoke and slot machines. And the best part...? One of the only 2 FRESH salad bars in Libby. And it is well stocked. If you tire of Montana fare (Someone say "Beef?") and want to give your microvilli a rest - this place is great. I don't know where they get all the fresh veggies because I haven't seen this many in one place anywhere else within state lines, but they are a welcome break from, well, beef. Staff is slightly less friendly when they know you're "not from around here," but hang out long enough and you are likely to spot a (often quite large) Mennonite family, bonnets and all. They come in from the woods to this one spot, maybe it's the veggies? And there is cool real log cabin architecture. Pancakes are fantastic and the prices are great. Nice big booths are great for getting some take-home paperwork done or chilling with a big group.

Pizza with a side of Jesus! It's surprisingly hard to find pizza in Libby but I did find Young Guns. I walked in and placed a to go order. Sat in the dining room to wait for my food. This restaurant is obviously a residential home that has been converted. The dining room is quite small and the decor has to be experienced but includes large soda coolers being used to store food, rad paint colors, posters on the ceiling, and vinyl table cloths. I was treated to Christian music coming from a CD that was repeating the same song over and over at an above acceptable volume level. About 15 minutes into my 35 minute wait the dining room suddenly turned into a bible study area that included who I assume was the owner. Sure was awkward. Finally I received my food and left. My pizza was missing a topping but I wasn't about to go back. The pizza and sides were average to slightly above average overall. I'd be willing to try Young Guns Pizza again but I would definitely use the drive-through window this time and I suggest you do the same!
