If I could give this place 6 stars, I would! My husband and I planned on tent camping in Yellowstone for a week until our trip was interrupted by a wet and heavy snow storm, rain and hail. We were about to pack up and go home after just two nights when we found the Gardiner Guest House. Nancy welcomed us with open arms, hot tea and cookies upon arrival. The historic home is clean, well appointed, very cozy and reasonably priced (cheap compared to most other cities). We enjoyed getting to know the other guests & spent hours at the breakfast table talking with Nancy, Richard & the other guests. The food is INCREDIBLE (pumpkin pancakes, apple sausage, eggs, sweet breads, granola, yogurt etc) and coffee, tea and treats are available around the clock. The first night we shared a bathroom and were moved into a different room the second night that had its own bathroom. It was no problem to share the bathroom -it's spacious and set-up to accommodate separate areas for different guests' toiletries. The shared bathroom has a magnificent claw foot soaking tub. Water was hot & pressure was high... perfect for the cold days! You can't get much closer to the north entrance of Yellowstone, either, as it's just a stone's throw away from the arch. We've decided any future trips to Yellowstone are not complete without a stay at the Gardiner Guest House!
While moving from Seattle to Washington, DC we took a detour down to Yellowstone and found the Gardiner Guest House via yelp when we were just a few hours away. Nancy was super accommodating and had a comfortable bed waiting for us when we rolled in past 9pm. We stayed two nights in order to have a day at Yellowstone, and this location was absolutely perfect. We received lots of great tips, and even borrowed an audio tour CD to take with us as we drove down to Old Faithful. While we were gone Nancy went above and beyond by watching over our cat, who was especially pleased with the guest house after a few days in the car. Breakfast was superb, the rooms were cozy, and the personal interaction was a great bonus. I completely recommend for travelers that want a comfortable base for Yellowstone that feels like home.
First, let me apologize to Nancy and Richard for a tardy review! Second-- this place deserves about 500 more rave reviews. My boyfriend and I were on a cross country drive and found ourselves a few hours outside of the northern entrance of Yellowstone with nowhere to stay. I called Richard and Nancy (via a Yelp review I found) and they pleasantly confirmed availability despite the fact that we would be getting in relatively late (10 pm). Nancy welcomed us with open arms (literally) and showed us around the guest house, which was by far more comfortable than any space we'd stayed in during our journey. Not a detail was missed-- lotions, hand towels, cozy blankets, heavenly beds, movies, and the breakfast-- oh, the breakfast. Every morning, they prepare a spread for their guests. Their food is only matched by their great company and conversation at the table! They were wonderfully accommodating and provided us with great tips for our day in the park. By the end of breakfast, we had decided to stay another day. The Gardiner Guest House, as mentioned, is literally at the mouth of the northern gate to Yellowstone. We woke up, took a walk, and stood at the feet of the mountains in the morning. Very refreshing! The town itself is quaint and friendly, with more dining options during the season. i would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone planning to make a trip to the area. What a gem!

I must say for a bar in the middle of nowhere it was pretty damn cool. First off when you walk in you notice a wheel you can spin for prizes. I spun it and won 2 dollars in nickels lol. Then they had a casino in the back where my fiancé player keno for 3 hours. While you play the slots you get free drinks lol. So my fiancée liked that. I watched and was her dd that night. But the female bartender was so nice. She was from New Jersey and told me I was so polite. She hooked my fiancée up with a bigger margarita. The manager of the place who wears glasses was also so sweet and nice. I wish we would have won something because they deserved a huge tip. They even came out from behind the bar to see if we were ok while playing the slots. The place and people were so nice there. A plus plus plus for effort and cool people.
Great atmosphere and decent food. Watch the male bartender because you will pay more than you wanted for your food. Watched him slip a $20 but didn't want to argue.
Great service, food, people, and atmosphere. They treat the locals right and welcome all travelers as well. Best place in town for a drink hands down.

Man, this place is goofy-lookin'. If you sit inside the dining room, you'll notice there's a weird slope to the floor leading up to the kitchen. There's also a pull-up bar in that doorway. I guess the chefs work out while not grilling up burgers? Anyway, I had a bison burger that hit the spot after a long day of hiking. The bacon was ON-POINT. If you're looking to refuel after a day at Yellowstone, this is a good option. Note: To get to the restroom, you'll need to go outside the dining room. It's around the back.
If you're staying in Gardiner during your trip to Yellowstone, you have got to eat here! Hands-down best burger I've ever eaten. I ordered the bison burger which consisted of a 1/2 lb of juicy tender bison, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and red onion, all piled on a soft bun, grilled with butter, that was just dense enough to hold its own against the burger behemoth. Not to be outdone, the hand cut fries were thin and crispy, salted perfectly, and were probably fried with bacon fat. No ketchup needed on the burger or fries as everything was so delicious as is! Topped the meal with a tasty Graham Slam milkshake. The meal total came to roughly $20, but was worth every penny. We ate outside on the picnic tables, looking out over the breathtaking Gallatin mountain range. The only bad part of this meal is that we're leaving town tomorrow and won't get to eat here more than once! So sorry I can only give 5 stars, it's worth so much more.
This place is all around fantastic! I started with a Moose Tracks milkshake (which had mini peanut butter cups in the bottom) then a burger with all the fixings. The burger was the best I have had in a long time; perfectly cooked fresh patty topped with melted pepper jack cheese, thick sliced bacon and sautéed mushrooms on a toasted bun. The fries did not disappoint either- thin, crispy and delicious. On top of all this, the service was wonderful. Our waitress was attentive and friendly, even bringing me a to-go cup for my shake. The only downside is that I don't live close to here, I would eat here all the time!

Dark little bar with a divey ambiance and good pints. Our bartender was very friendly. We weren't aware that they offered food service and, based on the looks of the place, I'm not sure if I would be comfortable eating here. This place seems like a townie bar but no one was unfriendly to us tourists.
Even though they no longer serve food, the bar is still a fantastic place grab a drink and get a little taste of the locale. Locals and tourists alike bump elbows day and night, sharing stories and a few great micro brews and liquor. Beautiful front window views of Yellowstone National Park create a relaxing setting in the afternoon between shopping and animal watching.
How can you go wrong with a small town saloon with friendly locals? The drinks were cheap and they have video poker and Big Buck Hunter. Our bartender was a sweetheart and chatted with us about things to do around Yellowstone.

The Elk meatloaf rocked! Bacon, caramelized onions & sweet potato tots. AJ had the Brie burger. Don't lets the ingredients fool you. He sucked it down great local brews on tap too. I had the tumbleweed IPA out of Helena. Hit this joint before you hard into the park. Might be your last gold meal. ;-)
No no no no. To drink fine. Don't eat. Unless your into frozen pre made wing and fries.
A true highlight of our trip to Yellowstone -- our group drove the 5 miles or so to eat two successive nights at the Antler Pub & Grill. Not only did we enjoy a wonderful array of sandwiches and burgers, but a great selection of Montana micro-brews as well. And the staff ensured our whole experience was FUN! Especially note the Nacho Salad too -- I loved it. And one night some of us shared a couple of the Brownie a la mode desserts -- to die for. Sharing this info with other friends heading that way next month.

Two Bit Saloon

This place is rad! We love Jesse and Jack! They fed us poor wary travelers at midnight and they fed us well! These guys are awesome and the beer is good and cold! And you can play the slots or play pool!
We've been back a couple more times and the last time will probably be the last time. The service is a disaster and my beloved portobello veggie was ill prepared. Do Gardiner and West Yellowstone have a ton of food options? No, but there are choices...and Two Bit needs to remember that since not everyone is a tourist nor a sit-at-the-bar to watch hockey crowd, that they may be turning away repeat business that I would think anyone can ill-afford to do.
A group of us were trying to look for a place to eat in around town. Our first choice was actually KBAR. However, KBAR had a full house. We were wandering around and decided to visit Two Bit Saloon. The place looks cool and would definitely be a cool place to watch sports and have a few drinks. Wen we entered into the saloon, we were not greeted. We were not sure whether we were supposed to wait to be seated or to take a table of our own and sit down. We stood around for a few minutes while no one looked over at us. Eventually, we decided to take a seat at an empty table. We finally ordered some beers and ordered our dinners right away. We did not get our beers on time. It was close to 10 minutes. C'mon. How hard is it to pour beers into the glass? The place was not too busy, but there were some rowdy folks around us drinking and playing pool. Some were a bit obnoxious and were cursing, but they did not pose any harm to my group. I recommend that the owner hire additional folks to serve his/her customers. As far as the food goes, my philly was good. However, the fries were not that great. They were once freshly cut, but it tasted like frozen fries that were reheated.

Wish we had gone to The Raven .... Service sucked. The kids wanted the brown bag lunch to eat in, but the waitress said it was "too difficult" for the cooks to make it on a plate rather than in a bag. She said that we could only order it to go. Really. So we ordered it to go and it took 25 minutes to receive it. It was not busy when we arrived (or when we left).
Service very slow. Took more than 25 minutes to get a hamburger. Even though the staff was very apologetic, 25 minutes plus to get lunch is ridiculous.
I appreciate that they are open past 2pm when everything else in Gardnier is closed. You enter through a smoky entrance that divides the restaurant and the "casino." The service was the best that we had in Gardnier (which I would take with a grain of salt), but was friendly and prompt. You can order breakfast all day, which was great for our tablemate who ordered an omelet. The bison burgers were a little small, but what makes this 4 stars in addition to the service was their blueberry pie a la mode! The homemade pie and local ice cream was a big hit that everyone at our table enjoyed. It was the best desert of our entire trip. Yum! They have you pay at the little gift shop and they ladies in there are also friendly and chatty. This was a surprising gem despite its dated interior and exterior.

The calzone And the pizza were very good. Service was very slow. It took 10 to 15 minutes before the waiter came to our table. It was a long wait for the food. The waitstaff seemed very inexperienced and new. I would give this place another chance.
If you are staying in the area, this is a decent place to grab dinner - nothing fancy, and just the basics, but it will do you fine. Service was nice, but not great. Mistakes were made on our order and no apology was offered, and the offer to remake the pizza was almost accusatory. (Seriously - doesn't everyone know how to do a pizza with different toppings on one half? What is so tough about that.... this is a pizza place after all!)
On a brief foray out of Yellowstone for gas and groceries, we stopped here for a bite. A reasonable break (and our cheapest restaurant meal during our Yellowstone visit), but our extra-cheese pizza wasn't that good. The crust is thick and spongy, sort of like Pizza Hut but less oily. The sauce is heavily flavored with oregano. The cheese is the kind that doesn't stretch much even when melted.

Headwaters of the Yellowstone B & B and Cabins

Gardiner, 59030

We stayed at the standalone cabin in summer. Pros: quiet, pretty clean, relatively well kept, speakers with iPod dock, bright bathroom lights, lots of plates. Cons: It's very inconvenient to use this kitchen and breakfast is not included. There's one usable pot because the rest are flaking Teflon, which is a health hazard. Some of the plastic water cups are cracked and leak. No Tupperware. Tea kettle is rusted inside. No toaster. Bathroom ceiling is covered in dead bugs. Same with all windows. Have to go downstairs for bathroom in the middle of the night. Front door doesn't lock.
