Butte, Montana: "Definitely a hole-in-the-wall, but the bartenders and staff are wonderful and the layout is nice." "Oh the Silver Dollar Saloon, how I miss your honkey-tonkin' ways. This place is one of my absolute favorite night spots in all of Butte, with an eclectic crowd of locals, and excellent live music. I have NEVER had a bad time at "The Dollar" as the locals call it. ..." - Oct 6, 2007
This place is excellent. My wife and I stopped in on a Wednesday night while traveling through and had a great time. The bartender is a pro (says she's been bartending for almost 50 years) and runs the bar with a calm, friendly demeanor. Got some great beers for 3.50 each, and mixed drinks and well drinks for cheap! There was also an open mic that was really fun. Definitely a great way to meet the cool part of Butte.
We loved this place. I agree with the earlier review - if this bar was in Portland, it'd be crawling with hipsters. As it is, it's a great mix of people and a cool bar. Nice bartenders. Friendly crowd. There was nothing to dislike about this bar.

Great Harvest Bread

Reviews:
Were on trip visiting family in Butte and stopped in the great harvest. We ended up having about 10 people (family & friends show up). We tried some amazing bread & pastries and between us ordered several lunch items and breakfast items (both were really good). Our favorite thing were the scones!! Overall the customer service was good, atmosphere was very casual and cool and the food was outstanding!
Absolutely loved the breakfast. My fiancé had the Philly sandwich and he enjoyed the entire plate lol. Good honest people and amazing food. We felt so comfortable here and the people at the counter made it inviting. On top of it all the price two you just can't beat.
Passing through Montana and stopped to get fuel in Butte. Yelp said this place was good with fair prices so we tried it out. Phenomenal! The bread is fantastic! I had the best French dip in my life and husband had an epic breakfast biscuit sandwich. The cinnamon rolls and brownies are generous in portion and very tasty. coleslaw was dry, but would be the best ever with more dressing mixed in. Well worth stopping by and even driving a little out of your way to stop here. Friendly staff. Fast service. Nice interior with kids area. Mixes, syrups, etc. for sale. Free WiFi with password. Parking in back. Not suitable for RVs/trailers; however, you can find parking on one of the streets behind the restaurant.

This place is so amazing compared to all the other B&Bs we stayed in on our trip - I can't believe it is so affordable. Be sure to take the tour (9:00-4:00 - free for guests) when you check in so you can see and experience the history of the whole house. It's like staying in a stunning museum. You have to adapt a little to century old bathroom styles - bathtub but no shower, need to pull a floorlamp over to provide bright light to shave by, etc. But it all adds to the spirit of being a part of history. The owners are friendly and treat you like family, while diligently working to keep this living treasure going - a huge job. Breakfast was tasty and enjoyable in the beautiful dining room with other interesting guests. You do need to be prepared to have your room tour-ready (luggage packed or out) by 9:00. We came back from breakfast and the room had been cleaned and made ready. So just plan to be packed if checking out or organized if not by 9:00. After 4:00 the house is all yours. This B&B was truly a highlight of our trip and I highly recommend it.
I had never seen the Copper King Mansion. It was after 5 on Saturday and we stopped to see if they gave tours on Sunday as it is the off season in the area. The sign on the door stated no Sunday tours during the winter season. So we walked around the outside, admiring the beautiful architecture. A gentleman was in the yard doing fall clean up, he acknowledged us and explained he was the owner. We chatted a bit and he took us inside for a quick tour of the main floor and then we discovered it was a B&B. To our delight there was one room left. We quickly booked our room and had a wonderful stay. The owners make you feel so at home and you get a tour in the morning that is absolutely amazing.
I had a great experience here. The architecture in this place is incredible. The details that have not been removed from this house are beautiful. If you want a modern 5 star hotel this is not what you're looking for. If you're willing to take in the beauty and history of this fabulous old home and want a homey, welcoming experience give this a try. Several of the bedrooms share a bathroom, the old multi head shower is amazing. If you're an architecture and history nerd you'll love it.

pretty good pizza. not a fan of the crust. meat was yummy. i had pepperoni on my pizza. wouldn''t have the food again.
We got a gluten free 'land fill' pizza and it was really good. The staff was pretty friendly too. It's not waited, you grab a menu, seat yourself, order, and they bring it out to you.
Holy smokes, Trimbo's "Off the Hook" Pizza really is some tasty pizza. Crisp crust, generous toppings, and diet mountain dew. It's official, I can now begin the move. Whole pies, by the slice, calzones, sandwiches, and salads. They even have a (small) salad bar that works well as a combo special with a slice.

Starbucks

Regular Bucks of Star. But always wonderfully friendly service. There's outdoor seating. Close to the Butte Plaza Mall and right on the Fourth of July parade route. Walking distance from a few hotels, including the Hampton Inn.
Stopped in on a Saturday morning around 10, relatively busy store, being the only Starbucks in town. My biggest complaint is that there was only ONE barista pulling shots, and six others wandering around like Stevie Wonder in a where's Waldo book. Poor girl was SWAMPED, which lead to hurried coffee, which consequently tasted awful. Waited over 20 minutes for two drinks, as well as about a dozen others in there. Everyone was frustrated. Poorly managed
We have been traveling across the state a lot lately, and this has become a regular stop for us. The service is super friendly. My daughter and I usually get the oatmeal. I lose track of which Starbucks has the fresh blueberry offering for the oatmeal, but this spot is always super helpful and gets my daughter whichever combination of goodies for her oatmeal that she wants. My husband and I often get the decaf mocha made with coconut milk, which is ok. We have tasted this same drink across Montana and Washington, and no where in Montana really has a fantastic version of this drink. This location does a good job, though.

Casagranda’s Steakhouse and Guido’s Bar

I decided to visit this warehouse-turned-restaurant on May 23, 2013 on the recommendation of a local resident. I was seated right away by staff that almost seemed excited to see me. It was very welcoming. The menu is simple but nearly every fish and meat dish had me tempted. My server was clearly a foodie and seemed just as interested in the menu selections as I was. It was also a good sign that she actually had eaten some of the foods and could describe how that nights' special tasted. I decided to go with seafood paella. I am a sucker for Spanish food. I really appreciated how carefully it was plated. The bright yellow saffron infused risotto contrasted nicely with the purposely placed sea scallop, pink prawn, and shimmering green mussel shell. All the seafood was cooked beautifully, no rubbery mussels here. What was especially nice was the discovery that an equal number of sea creatures were hidden under the risotto. My only complaint is that the risotto had that 'refrigerator-smell' taste. Maybe it is seasoned fresh but is it possible the rice had already been cooked and refrigerated or frozen? I would come back simply to try the many other delicious sounding entrees on the menu.
I just went to Casagranda's for sushi night which is just on Thursdays. I was a little skeptical being from Denver and ordering sushi in a town without a major airport. They get their shipment of fish along with Bozeman's once a week, so it's fresh. I have to tell you they had a FULL menu of specialty rolls, standard rolls sushi and sashimi and it was all very good. the seaweed salad was one of the best I've had. They really go all out including ingredients like mango and habanero peppers in the rolls. When I'm in Butte I will be found here on Thursdays! And make reservations because they pack the house.
I had dinner here a few times while traveling for work. Of all the places to eat in Butte, I'd rank Casagranda's near the top, but only if you order a steak for the main course. The bread and soup of the day are always excellent. I would be pretty happy if all I had to eat was a big bowl of their soup. With regards to the main courses, I've ordered the ribeye au poivre and the chicken oscar. Both came in large portions. I've had better steak elsewhere, but this has got to be the best steak in the area. The chicken oscar, though, was sub-par. A co-worker had the duck a la orange and found it nearly inedible. I wouldn't recommend straying from the steaks. The service here is good, but occasionally clumsy. All in all, it's a great place for a casual meal and a business dinner.

Stopped by on our way through Montana in the recommendation of other yelp reviews. Great service with none of the nonsense. The place has this dive-y vibe but inside it feels like you're at grammy's table. Very homey. Get the cinnamon rolls!
Service 3/10: the waitress took 30 minutes after our meal was done Food 1/10: Fries were soggy, meat was dry, biscuits were not crispy Environment: 2/10: The place was old and felt like it was falling apart
The staff is super friendly and I'm assuming the older gentleman that came and spoke to us after we had eaten was the owner! He was superb! The nostalgic feeling you'll get after entering the front door is of the 1950's / 60's. The decor is original and the upkeep is great! Try the biscuits and gravy... So good! Stick with breakfast items and the coffee is pretty good. This is a local spot so try it out and enjoy all the history in the display cases as you enter!

All I have to say is Wop Chop. So good. Didn't need ketchup or mayo or anything like that. Just pure deep fried goodness. Our the woman behind the counter was super nice. Plus I loved the Evel Knieval decor. Loved it!
With all the great reviews, and the fact the restaurant was on Man Vs Food, I was excited to try this famously talked about wop chop. However, I was disappointed with both the sandwich and the fries. The sandwich lacked in flavor and was even burnt. I didn't even bother finishing the fries because they were soaked in grease and were not appetizing whatsoever. This is not a place I would go back to. I gave it three stars in light of how many people like the restaurant. I will say that the service is friendly and the prices are very cheap. I would only recommend this place to someone who simple wants a cheap meal.
It's a dive bar. That's what it is. But thanks to Adam Richman, it's the place I want to drive through Butte, Montana again for. If you don't know, they have a sandwich called the "Wop Chop". What it is is a battered/fried pork sandwich. We don't know what they use in the batter, but it's addictive like CRACK. Service is delightful. I think the cost is $5.25 or $5.75 for one. Me and my (then) fiancee (now wife) were driving through and grabbed one. SHOULD HAVE GRABBED TWO (or more). Remember, it's a tiny little dive bar, so if you want to try it make sure you remember that's what it looks like and that you don't let the exterior make you think twice. This is the place!
