This place is a food oasis. The burger is insane and perfect. Well done chef! Even though the chicken wrap is the worst thing to order at this place I did it just to test the waters. The chicken was perfectly cooked and the fiend greens were fresh and crisp. They have 5-6 local beers on tap and a solid little wine list. The wait staff are a little like ordering from a rough-neck or roustabout but I think that's the charm. Great job!!!!!

The huckleberry pulled pork was overwhelmingly sweet and not worth eating. Everything else was fine but very middle of the road. (e.g. the beet salad was standard) The house ketchup wasn't my thing either. It was too sweet and tasted like it was made with pumpkin pie spice. Given my other eating experiences in Billings, I know why this place is so highly rated. Is it one of the best places to eat in Billings, YES! Is it the best, NO.

What a little treasure here in Billings. We went here for Sunday brunch after the 4th of July. How cute is the industrial, country chic decor. Service was wonderful. Our server was cheerful and seemed happy to be working at this cafe. She seemed enthusiastic about the food they serve. The food was quite tasty. My husband had the chorizo black bean burrito, which was large. The chorizo wasn't super spicy, which my husband liked. He added avocado, which was a nice creamy element. I had the Benedict with bacon, grape tomatoes, and hollandaise. The hollandaise was creamy. The bacon was not cut evenly, so one end was nice and crispy (how I like it) and the other was underdone. The fat could have been rendered down a bit more. My eggs were poached, one was over and the other was perfect. At little more attention could be paid to food consistency in my opinion. I also got a side of potatoes. They are like home fries. It was served with homemade ketchup, which had a nice zip. No Tabasco was available, however to add extra spice, just sriracha. Overall is was a good experience, but keep the food consistent.

We were passing through Billings and this menu caught my eye. Wow! Am I ever glad we stopped. My husband and I ordered off the sides menu and decided to share. Everything we ordered was fantastic!! Fresh, tasty, original with favors perfectly balanced in each dish. A must stop if you are in Billings!

Amazing, quick service from a very friendly staff. I really love the small menu , it shows that they truly focus on each ingrediant. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. I had the steak special and subbed Brussels for the asparagus. Not that I don't love asparagus but I really wanted brussels. However my husband ordered the special and got the asparagus...do good! Although the cheese plate is good, it is VERY small!

Excellent dining experience with slower service because of an event in town. Exceptional food with creative use if flavor a and local ingredients. Dinner was so good we came back for brunch!

Today is Mother's Day, we have forgotten since we've been on a Road Trip for almost 3 weeks! In Billings, we decided to stop for lunch, but of course, many restaurants are packed with families trying to spend Mother's Day brunches with their moms, and reservations are necessary, or THEY'RE CLOSED! The next one to call, instead of just walking in like normal people do . . . they were about to close in 30 mins. but they have seats available for us @ the bar. We got there in less than 3 mins. We were seated right away, and got served right away. Our server was very prompt, and knowledgeable about their menu, I was very lucky to get the last one of their Seafood Special, it came with aspagus & black forbidden rice and two eggs. Mine was DELICIOUS! I've never heard of black forbidden rice before, but both me & my husband liked it a lot! He ordered the Eggs Benedict. He thought it was absolutely wonderful! Best he'd ever had. The restroom were clean, think about this one: they must have been busy earlier, but we're the last customers (there are still a lot left), but we're 2nd to the last to enter, but when I got to the bathroom, they were still CLEAN! I was just taking notes, on my iPhone when our very friendly & polite server came by to make sure we got everything we needed, when I told her, how pleased we were! It sure was a gourmet treat, found by accident, for a Mother's Day celebration! Thank you!

Fantastic service! Delicious food! And a great atmosphere. I had the steak special with roasted potatoes and peblano puree. The steak was cooked perfectly. I ordered medium and it came out light pink and soo Juicy! Though the peblano puree was the star of the show! Another must try is the French roast coffee. Best cup of coffee that I've had in a long while. Very bold in flavor but does not overpower you with taste. Perfect cup of Joe with cream and sugar. Shout out to Jarod (waiter) he was attentive funny and helpful! If your anywhere close to Billings this is a must stahp for breakfast!

So, it took us about 6 months, but we went back - and I'm so glad we did. The beet salad was better than ever. Then, my husband and I did something we almost never do - we both ordered entrees. We still split them, but they were great! I chose the duck and he selected the scallop special. The duck was overcooked, but absolutely delicious! Extremely well seasoned. The scallops were on forbidden rice, and they were absolutely magical. Perfectly cooked. The service was super! All in all, it was a great experience.

My companion and I showed up before the lunch hour officially started, but the friendly folks seated us and said the kitchen was ready to go. Spacious and airy with an industrial vibe, it has lots of daylight and snazzy decor. The friendly chef gave us a bit of history on the place, only there for three years, and his enthusiasm for the place and the menu were contagious. The menu is eclectic but not too far off the deep end. I had the chicken wrap, delish, and the desert was to die for. I will certainly go back next time I'm in Billings.

Disappointing. Odd menu. Unprofessional service. Strange recipes. Certain items wildly overpriced. One measure of a fine dining experience is the freshness and uniqueness of its bread, how this bread complements the food. Here, there is none. No joke--a pricey, fine dining establishment with no rolls and no bread. Even after ordering a Caprese Salad, I had to pummel the help for a piece of bread. They proceeded to bring out 2 tiny toasted Crostini pieces, singed, and dry. I had to ask for butter. They charged me for such. The salad needed vinegar or wine. As with the meatloaf, little taste, bordering on sweet again Another culinary measure is the striving and reaching of balance in food consistency, texture and sweetness. The place struck out. Meatloaf had excellently prepared meat, nice potatoes, but ruined as such are placed in a sticky sweet--almost compote--amass of huckleberry syrup. If wine or vinegar would've been included, perhaps balance could've been struck. Not here. A Caprese Salad with traditionally gooey cheese and tomatoes needs something crunchy or firm for consistency balance--why the bread request. The hostess, realizing that I was alone, asked me to sit in the bar, and seemed genuinely uncomfortable with me, my being a party of 1. I was able to negotiate sitting on the end of a long, banquet table. The main course came out while I was eating the salad. Had I ordered the fish, Northwest Salmon, I would've shucked out $30! This seems extraordinary when we are in the general region for salmon. The interior and ambiance is more low-brow, akin to a modernized Marie Callender's without carpeting, making the $30 fish completely revelatory. No ordinary salad available. Instead they make a salad out of brussel sprouts. The menu was pricey and odd. I think that you can do better on the other side of the tracks in Billings. I really was excited about this place.

Love the beautiful space and the beautifully presented food. I had the Eggs Beni... It's like no regular Beni. Fried green tomato cakes instead of English muffins, pork belly instead of ham. Great flavors, but the breading on the tomatoes wasa bit too hard to crunch through (and I have great chompers), and the pork belly made it just a tad too greasy. Great experience nevertheless, minus one star for finding a hair in my food. It doesn't bother me, so i didn't say anything, but it is a bit of a health code issue. I would come back again if I'm in Billings.

Delightful. We had the Juevos Rancheros (goat cheese is a great touch), nectarine pancake (fluffy heaven!), and the steak special (greens were buttery and delish). Everything was cooked perfectly and presented beautifully. The poblano purée is to die for- I hope they keep it. The service was impeccable- Jarod took good care of us, with a sense of humor. The restaurant feels airy and cozy at the same time. The only thing we didn't like was the *hostess (Cheyenne). When we walked in she scowled at us, an expression that did not change as she and another lovely young lady found us a table. She did not speak directly to us, just muttered to the other hostess. Bad first impression, when the rest of the staff are outstanding! The coffee is to die for! French press with a very bold yet mellow roast...delicious! *she came over after hearing we asked her name and was pretty pleasant, asking if we needed anything.

This place was a find in Billings, MT. I had the meatloaf with huckleberry bbq sauce. The sauce was sweet and tangy and the meatloaf juicy with a crispy crust. Not your mother's meatloaf! My hubby tried the steak - just what he has been craving on our MT adventure! Cooked to perfection! The atmosphere was nice even with a toddler who can't sit still for too long, although we were there right when they opened. Definitely a place to go if we're ever back in Billings!

The food is delicious, the building is decorated with antiques, workers are wearing Etsy made aprons, and a menu that uses words like "local" and "organic"- making it the hippest place to do brunch in the area. The weekend seafood benny is always on point, and the hauveos rancheros come with half of an avocado -even though they don't mention it on the menue. How bizarre is that? Half of the world charges you an extra $3 to get a sliver of avocado on the side, and this joint is surprising you with complimentary avocado by the half!

A great bistro cafe.... We tried a local beer, beet salad and a meat loaf. All were very good. Lauren was a great server.

My dinner tonight was one of the best things i have EVER eaten oh.my .god. I started with the red ale to drink because i was in a beer mood and i had yet to try beer from Billings. It was rich and smooth and i already want another glass. For my appetizer i got the kale salad which was recommended to me by the waitress. I was torn between kale salad or the watermelon salad so i let her choose for me. It was one was the best salads! The quinoa added great texture and the parm was savory and salty against the sweet and sour sundried tomatoes. They use baby kale which is worlds better than "adult" kale. I never really caught on to the kale and quinoa trend but this salad makes me a believer. Now for the best part. My entree. Wow. I asked what the fish of the day was out of curiosity because i was going to get the roasted chicken. Well it was grilled salmon in a tom yum inspired coconut broth with mushrooms and lentils and almonds and goat cheese and grilled squash. How do you say no to that?? And i am a salmon and thai food lover so i had to have it. These all sound strange but paired together it was such a delicious and exotic mix of flavors. I almost cried when my plate was empty. I wouldve never guessed a place with such great and sophisticated food could be in billings!! I wish i could give it 6 stars!

Our transportation gave out on us in Billings on our cross country trip and so here we sit for a week and came across this "Diamond in the rough" restaurant! We have lived and dined in major metropolitan cities and this restaurant will be high up on our list of favorites. We had the brussels sprouts, kale salad, (perfectly prepared and served) the roasted chicken (could've been more tender and was just a breast, rather than half a chicken - as we misread the menu) and the homemade chocolate chipotle ice cream (wow, wow, wow)! Great job to the Field House Cafe, you impressed our tastebuds and will be back, if ever back in the Billings area!

  • Sharon A.

Pretentious and precious. I had lunch here on June 24, 2015. Despite Jarred's recommendation, the brussel sprouts were not the best I'd ever eaten. They needed some salt for my taste and there was none on the table. The wrap sandwich was mediocre. I might try this place again if I am in the area.

A little fancy but great service and a very unique menu. The food was great and had an interesting and different take on things. I loved it and would definitely come back.

Went here with a coworker while traveling. Had no problem getting a table and everything seemed great at first. I was really in the mood for a cocktail but they don't serve liquor... so had a beer. Beer was good. Ordered the cheese plate (amazing) and the mussels. The mussels were lukewarm but we're really good. Our waitress started out fine but after the apps, she only came by the table twice. Once to bring our main courses and once to ask if I wanted another beer. I ordered the steak and my coworker ordered the chicken. The steak was, again, lukewarm. It was super fatty and not a great cut at all. It was served with white beans and crunchy kale, which were both weird with a steak. Coworkers chicken was really good. Overall, serve the food when it's hot and hire more servers, or at least ones that are attentive. When we left, we passed the hostess and she also never said bye. Poor service, mediocre food.

Amazing food, great service. Ask to eat out back. Try the buratta! They also have some great craft beers from Carters Brewing down the street.

We went to the fieldhouse for lunch today. It was not our first trip here, but it will definitely be the last. After our last brunch experience where my boyfriend was served steak trimmings with his steak and eggs, we thought we'd give it another chance. We ordered quite a lot for two people, and most of the food was average at best. My boyfriend found a raw potato in his beet salad, and informed the waitress Miranda. She said, "that's not the worst that could happen.". Does this mean she has seen worse? Personally I've been in the restaurant industry for ten plus years now, and excluding a recent brunch with a friend have not been impressed at all with the service here. I will not be returning and will no longer be recommending this place either.

Where to start?!? Such an amazing place! The atmosphere was perfect and quaint. The service was fantastic and accommodating. The food was phenomenal!! We tried the pork and the chicken the flavors melded perfectly!! The roasted cauliflower was fantastic as were the Brussel sprouts. Absolutely delicious! I will be back again and again!! So great!! Absolutely give this gem of a place a try!!

Everything here is utterly delicious and really fresh! I've had their watermelon salad, their roasted chicken with preserved lemon risotto, the Other Burger (who knew peanut butter and jelly could be so magnificent on a burger?!), the This Burger, and many other tasty morsels from their artistically created menu! One of the things I definitely miss in Billings, and will make a point to come here again when visiting!

I have had two wonderful lunches here now. Both times my boyfriend and I split entrees. The menu is fresh, local, and flavorful. The decor has a modern rustic feel and is comfortable and quiet.

It was good food. I had steak and eggs, the best of protein in the morning. Will be back when in the area. The wheat toast is very good as well.

I went in for Saturday brunch based on the reviews on Yelp. The service was warm, friendly and attentive. I ordered the flank steak and eggs with an additional side of potatoes. It was excellent, cooked to perfection. I also ordered coffee and was surprised and very pleased it came in a full French press. The perfect thing to help you wake up on a Saturday. Try this place if you're traveling through or a permanent resident. It's worth it.

Really creative and delicious menu with great staff. The Fieldhouse is wonderful and can easily compete with the restaurants in Denver; I'm very impressed!

The Fieldhouse is a fabulous place to enjoy good food with good company. The menu is always changing according to what is in season. Also, be sure to ask about the Daily specials. If you need to eat gluten free or dairy free, The Fieldhouse can accommodate your dietary needs without compromising the flavor of your meal. We love the staff at The Fieldhouse as much as we love the food. Speaking of the food; The chef is creative and often daring in his mixing of flavors. Whether you want lunch, dinner, or a weekend breakfast with mimosas, you won't be disappointed!! If you find yourself at The Fieldhouse, tell them that Di sent you! *wink* Cheers!!

Atmosphere is great not too loud. Had a great back room, we were with larger group. Food was amazing. Ihad the house salad and roasted chicken dish. Service was very attenative. Local angry hanks beer was nice. Always nice to have local brews when traveling.

Outstanding! This is a great place to stop for lunch. We both had the BBQ Chicken Salad. It was a wonderful!!!! The service is impeccable and pleasant. I'd come back to Billings just for this salad!

We arrived for our 7pm reservation made through Yelp, which the restaurant never received. But they made no issue of it and sat us immediately. My wife and I looked over the menu and weren't particularly impressed with the options - the curse of an 'everything fresh' menu is limited options. We started with the beet salad, then she had the flat-iron steak special, I had the meatloaf. Everything was good enough, and the service was prompt and courteous as well, but this isn't really a place I'd go again. The atmosphere was rather cold and sterile, and they seem like they're trying too hard to go for a certain look.

Great food, great atmosphere, great coffee... But on more than one occasion have waited way too long for food. REGARDLESS of the fact, I highly recommend it, especially brunch on the weekend.

My friend and I were just killing time to pick up a friend from the airport before our trek to Red Lodge and came across this charming little place on Yelp. All of the reviews are accurate - the food was delicious and fresh. The service was on point and everyone is incredibly friendly. Also, being a New Yorker this establishment was extremely affordable for such high quality food. They accept American Express which is always an added plus

  • Joseph K.

At first, I thought the field house was trying too hard and acting pretentious, but after having some of their gorgonzala cakes that came with their steak, I was dead wrong. The food was different and tasty. They also accommodated me ordering another plate of just their fabulous cakes for a reasonable price. Their strawberry sherry infused dessert was nothing to write home about, but the lava cake was not overly rich and complemented with a dollop of vanilla bean ice cream. They also had a fine selection of local Montana brews on tap. I would definitely go back for another round to this fine establishment.

  • Aaron P.

This restaurant was definitely a-ok. I think for the price it could have been better. Don't get me wrong, the food was good. Brussels sprouts were delicious and was probably the highlight of our meal. I felt the service could have been more professional. The server that we had seemed pretty inexperienced. It's never a good thing when the server starts off with mispronouncing and item of the nightly special. Other little things like getting white wine severed in a hot wine glass, and being out of menu item early on in the evening, definitely stood out. We did come in on a Tuesday night, so maybe the "A" crew had the night off. I will definitely go back and give it another try. I hear breakfast is where its at here. Thanks for the good meal!

If you have time to sit for an hour and a half or more then you might enjoy the experience. I have tried this place out 5 times now at different hours. each time it is very slow and something is always wrong with my order. I always leave hungry and I have never thought my food was amazing. Once I ordered immediately and 35 minutes later I was still sitting at an empty table waiting for food.

  • Katy K.

It's been a while since I've been lucky enough to get to the Fieldhouse (I live out of state). This is still the only place in Billings with sophisticated, farm to table food that tastes amazingly delicious. The Waygu beef is top notch!!! 5 stars.

As a visitor to Billings from LA, I can say this place would do great in LA or billings. Food is fresh and flavors are modern, but not played out. Had the Ahi special, which was perfectly rare, served on soba with veggie medley that was perfectly seasoned. Nice pairing with a French wine by the glass. Home made truffles for dessert. You should come enjoy the amazing food and ambiance.

Ate here for the second time. Had the sirloin steak special. The meat was great, the broccoli excellent. The best was the sauce, crust, and unbelievably the bed of Bok Choy. Served well and excellently presented. While there were many patrons, the ambience was excellent. Go and enjoy

After 5 days on the road from D.C. on our way to Seattle and utterly tired of the typical processed American roadside food my sister and I found this place right here on Yelp! The atmosphere and staff are both comforting and very welcoming. Everyone is very kind and loving, the attitude displayed through the artwork and decor on the walls transcends into the staff and right the natural and earthy foods placed in front of you. We started our meal off with the French Press coffee which was utterly divine for any java enthusiast. All the natural flavors and oils are retained and not rinsed out using the French press leaving a full-body fresh roasted flavor. The all natural agave, stevia and raw sugars were a breath of fresh air from the typical processed and artificial options usually offered. For my main course I ordered the baby kale & quinoa salad with a side of the roasted brussell sprouts. The salad was freshly crisp and flavored with sun dried tomatoes and a slight tang offered by the what I believe was lemon vinaigrette. Either way it was delicious! The sprouts were crispy and perfectly flavored with the right amount of roasted flavor. I literally felt refreshed and rejuvenated from this food!

Some of the best food in town. Reasonably priced especially since it's gourmet. You get a good amount of food as well. Most of the food is locally sourced and some organic. Friendly staff warm decor... Just delicious.

This excellent little restaurant is inside a reclaimed building by the railroad tracks not far from downtown Billings. The brick walls, exposed pipes, brightly polished industrial seating, wooden topped tables and good music playing overhead all add to the atmosphere. The servers are wonderful and all the staff members were quite friendly and chatty. After reading about some of the menu items on Yelp and talking to my waitress about her favorites, I decided to go with the meatloaf, potatoes and broccoli, along with a nice pinot. The excellent red sauce highlighted the flavors of the meatloaf and gave it just a little spice. I finished with a piece of moist homemade carrot cake, topped with a small dollop of goat cream cheese icing and ginger pieces. A piping hot French press coffee pot delivered at the same time put the finishing touches on a very nice meal this evening.

On a road trip with another family for 10 days. At the end of the trip the group was unanimous that our best dinner was at the Fieldhouse. Exceptional service, wonderful flavors, perfect portions. It was a memorable dinner that we will not soon forget. So wish the Fieldhouse was closer to home!

Beet salad was weak and bland this time, especially for all the goodies the lunch menu description toots. On a previous breakfast visit I enjoyed my meal so much more. Had the haystack and a spinach wrapped breakfast burrito. Both to die for. Overall very clean and very nice staff, I'll give it another go for sure.

What a treat. I found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try after reading so many great reviews. I am so glad I did! A+ for both service and food quality. It was very unexpected to find such vibrant and developed flavors in Billings, Montana. Good on you Field House!

Outsider from Ann Arbor, MI here. I passed through Billings on a road trip through here, and the reviews were encouraging. It's earned five stars, no doubt. I ate two items that may be on the menu only for a short time (they seem to change it regularly). I ate the kale salad and the roasted vegetables. Two vegetable dishes might normally be too much, but not here. They made my tongue happy in different ways. The salad was bright with citrus, nutty from walnuts, and potent from Parmesan. The quinoa in the salad tasted toasty and nutty even in the dressing, impressive! The roasted vegetables were a darker, earthier, and more savory taste from the roasted roots and greens and a different glaze. The flavor was the love child of a satisfying, hearty soup and a vegetable stir fry. The dishes came to the table photo worthy. I told one of the owners that I couldn't imagine any restaurant in New York or San Francisco could do a better job at making what I ate. The ambience is great. Conversation volume is quiet enough that I could write in a journal and keep my thoughts straight. The walls are a warm white and gray blue like you'd expect in a cottage or cozy home. There's a neat juxtaposition of shiny metal and worn wood everywhere. There's plaid and animal art, so it still feels like Montana. The owners are darling and really believe in their vision for the place. I would come back any time!

A terrific place!!! Drove past here twice and dropped by here for lunch and dinner. Both times food was excellent. Their steak frites is to die for. Definitely will stop by here again if I'm in this neck of the woods.

Field House....what the heck! You guys killed it and made my first meal in Montana amazing. The peach infused BBQ brisket with smoked peaches was toe tingling. Then you rocked me a French press and wait.....the single best peach cobbler I've ever put in my mouth. I want to marry the chef. For reals! Ask for Ryan. Boy knows his beers.

Unlike many restaurants marketing to the hip young urban (or semi-urban) market, Fieldhouse serves good solid food with a smile. The "exposed pipe" bookshelves, canning jar water glasses, and cutesy bird prints may seem to herald over-preciousness and complication, but in fact, the food is simple and delicious. The heaping portions of fries, served with homemade ketchup, were slightly oversalted but otherwise perfect. The meatloaf is tender to the point of fluffiness, though the huckleberry BBQ sauce is cloyingly sweet. The vegetable plate is a star--no anemic pile of carrots and peas but an abundant platter of zucchini, quinoa, greens, and other veggies drizzled in a light, sweet tamari-maple sauce. In a league of their own are the Brussels sprouts. Roasted crisp, sprinkled with unctuous cashew "Parmesan," and served with a side of sundried tomato aioli, they are truly the best I've ever had. I could have eaten a whole plateful of sprouts and come away satisfied. The friendly servers were prompt and unpretentious. One server asked the table whether we knew what chèvre was, not condescendingly but with genuine concern that we should fully and totally understand the menu. At 5 pm the restaurant was pretty deserted, and the staff passed the time by taste-testing and discussing upcoming dishes. That interest and passion definitely shows through in everything the Fieldhouse staff does or creates.

First review ever. So naturally I'll start off by giving this place a 5 star review. 1 star being Burger King. Saturday night. 7:30. Had a reservation for 730, but since some tables were lingering (natural at a place like this). We were sat by 7:35 which was super kind of them. The atmosphere of this place is awesome! It's in an old rail yard building and is eclectically decorated. Way beyond anything else in Billings. So 5 stars on the atmosphere and ambience. Service: Krystal was our server. She was tentative, informative, and glad to answer any questions we had. She forgot a starter, but offered a dessert to make up for her miss. She did everything a good server should do. This coming from a fellow food server. A+ Krystal. Food: we started with the fried Brussels. SO GOOD. I couldn't believe how good they were. They were served with a sauce but I thought the sauce was unnecessary. For my entre I got the steak special.Emu! The emu was grilled to chefs recommendation. Served with fingerling potatoes and grilled peaches with a fantastic sauce. I loved it. Never had anything like it Overall, I really enjoyed this experience and will recommend this place to everyone that enjoys LOCAL fare. If your in Billings, this is a must check out!

Devine!! If I could review this place a zillion times so everyone would go I would! I am a little bit of a coffee snob having just moved back from Sydney, Australia and my favorite meal of the day is breakfast so I was ecstatic to find this place!! The owner definitely know what he is doing... Every detail is meticulously cared for down to the bathrooms. We were only visiting the area but can't wait to get back.

Cannot asked for much better in billings. I usually am in there at least once a week. Their meatloaf is amazing. Their burgers are to die for. A little pricey st times and I wish they had a better drink selection for none alcoholic drinks. But then again that would not fit in with their atmosphere. Favorite place to go

The food, service and ambiance at the Fieldhouse Cafe are exceptional! We have had brunch, lunch and dinner here over the past six months, and it never disappoints. Tonight there were four of us for dinner, and everyone loved absolutely every component of their meal. My salad was fresh and delicious, my steak perfectly prepared and served with the most heavenly onion gravy, the risotto stuffed red bell pepper was amazing. We shared lava cake and creme brûlée for dessert--yum! Oh, and the wine was great too...although they didn't make that themselves. ;)

Great food that was out of the norm. We were there for brunch and they had strawberry jalepeno mimosas on special - very good!

I was driving through Billings and stopped here based on other reviews. I'm so glad that I did! The staff and owners were incredibly friendly and the food was amazing! I had a chicken wrap - might sound run-of-the-mill but it was not. I hope I get the chance to visit again soon!

They had me at French press. Then factor in locally-sourced foods, creative preparation, tasteful presentation, countryside-meets-urban-eclectic decor, and an artistic yet quiet atmosphere, and I'm in love. It's delightful to bring friends here and show them Billings at its best. Keep it up! -- a Yellowstone Co. local

My friends and I went here last night. The service was great! Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. The food was amazing! My friend ordered the cheese plate and everything on it was delicious especially the blue cheese! I ordered the pork and it was amazing. I had the creme brulee for dessert so yummy! Definitely my new favorite!!!!!

Best and most affordable farm to table spot in Montana! I am from Seattle and always struggle to find fresh, organic healthy eats in the beautiful state of Montana. This place is top notch. Exploding flavors, fresh ingredients, and always a unique take on their dishes. The menu changes once in a while which I love bc when I come into town I get something brand new!

We heard their fries were amazing. Shared a plate. There's no ranch.. They were very solid. For brunch my 2 friends had Biscuits and Gravy. They were rolling laughing how bad it was. The gravy with cat food bits of sausage tasted like the color grey. The biscuits like 2 day old dry bricks. Zero flavor. Our waiter was a complete chump. He had a wise comment for every request and it was cringe worthy. The gravy was "bomb sauce" today and he couldn't of been more wrong. They serve their water with no ice. It's odd to me, like drinking tap from a hotel or something. He said 75% of people seem to not want it and he'd rather not have to send it back. Lol, what!? Here's the kicker. I got the NY steak and eggs and it was phenomenal. Eggs cooked perfect with flavor. The potatoes golden brown and flavorful. The steak cooked perfect with a great rub. And the green onion aioli was the only thing that was ok but didn't really go with the others. But well done on that meal guys. But laughable on the biscuits and gravy and tap water.

Walked down the street and found a touch of amazing. Quaint unique comfortable relaxed and just dang good. Since returning from a French vacation we've been craving great food in a casual setting BINGO we found it. Thanks for dessert

The food is amazing! The service.... not so much. We went for Saturday breakfast. The restaurant looked like it was just getting over the rush. It took 45 minutes to get our food after ordering. Way too long in our opinion. Also, our beverage glass had lipstick on it, yuck! :(

Had brunch with my g/f a couple days and we had a great experience! Very good coffee and the service was excellent. A bit slow on receiving our food, part of it was my g/f changing her order after she ordered (which they did not hesitate to change)! But! I'd rather have great food with more attention to it than a quick, crappy meal any day. Had the "boring breakfast" which was great. Bacon was pretty dang good, which I'd expect nothing less in MT! Very good experience, highly recommend! People tend to only write reviews when a restaurant is bad but I think you should reward with great reviews when a company has earned it and FieldHouse most definitely earned it! Keep it up

Quality ingredients = quality food. No doubt. I've been a few times and have yet to find a flaw...other than I can't stop eating if there's something on my plate, no matter how full I am. Service was great. Friendly and personable and prompt. Definitely recommend it to any and everyone.

I liked our date night dinner here. Other reviewers are right about the kale salad! I also had a seafood cioppino that was memorable. I am knocking one star off for 2 reasons. Our server was admittedly not knowledgeable about the wine. The list isn't long so it would be good to learn because we needed help choosing. The other thing is the metal chairs. It didn't bother me, but my husband found them so uncomfortable that he said he would not go here again while they have the hard metal chairs.

Mouthsplosion. Dream restaurant. I had roasted beets with chevre, microarugula, and sunflower seeds with a balsamic reduction and a grilled cheese with arugula and raisen chutney. To drink I had the peach rosemary lemonade. Crazy good.

Wow. Just wow. Fresh yes. Great service yes. Imaginative cuisine yes. Modern ambiance yes. But none of these capture biting into a spinach chicken wrap and thinking OMG this is what chicken is supposed to taste like. It doesn't capture the amazing flavor of watermelon with feta and champagne vinaigrette. Don't pass this by.

Very unusual restaurant for Billings, MT. However, it's worth a visit. We went for lunch. I had no idea this restaurant existed. The customer I was taking suggested it as he'd eaten dinner here and really liked it. During the day, it's very bright and cheery. A lot of sunlight gets in to brighten the restaurant. Cold outside, but nice and warm inside without it being "too warm". Service? Fantastic! Out of their way nice without "hovering". Food? Also fantastic! albeit a little off kilter which is what they're trying for. I liked seeing the breakfast items on the lunch menu along with burgers, soups and salads. I enjoyed a bowl of Clam Chowder which was the best I'd ever tasted (including many trips to Boston). One bitch: The soup wasn't steaming hot. It was luke warm. Not sure if that was intentional but I like my soup hot. I tried my customers French Fries which were particularly tasty. They even make their own ketchup which, along with their entire theme, was unusual, but delicious. I've uploaded a photo of our lunch. You can see that presentation is important to them which is rare in Billings, MT. Enjoy!!

My hands-down favorite place in Billings! The avocado tacos are great and I also love the Brussel sprouts! I really do love this place. It's too nice to bring a baby or I'd come here more often. I really appreciate the urban flair and I feel like you could find this place in any of the big cities I've lived in from San Francisco to DC. I love the ambiance and I love how it's off by itself in a more industrial area of town even though it's only a couple of blocks from all the restaurants on Montana Ave. highly recommend!

Delicious wrap for lunch with side of roasted cauliflower ! Suggestion is in presentation: wrap served on white plate with no garnish, crudités, nor fruit. It appeared kitchen really did not care about eye appeal. How much more intriguing to serve with even slice of melon with berries, or mango slaw....even homemade veggie chips!! Lavender berry sorbet also delicious. If served with mint leaf and wafer so much more appealing. Look forward to trying more menu selections!

This place is a awesome. What a nice surprise especially walking across the tracks but well worth it. Food was excellent, beer on tap and French press coffee for dessert. They definitely go the extra mile to satisfy ie. heating the coffee mug with hot water prior to serving.

Great FIND! Thanks Yelpers I had the best cup of coffee ever. In a french press. Amazing coffee. I had the Haystack. It was unusual and delicious. I love to find unusual food plates so I can enjoy them. If this place was in San Fransisco you would have to fight for a spot to sit and eat. I don't know if Billings knows that this eclectic spot is so amazing. The prices are too low for the coffee. They should charge $7.50 per french press.

Eaten dinner here twice. Both times superb. I had the meatloaf and my husband had the spare ribs. Would recommend both. Finished off with peach cobbler and vanilla ice cream that is made in house.

Surprised to find a restaurant with this much style in Billings. Great atmosphere, dedicated service and very tasty food. Nice proportions as well. The risotto overpowered the chicken dish I ordered a bit, but it was still impressive. Also tried the meatloaf and enjoyed how light it was. I would love to stop by again next time I'm in this area.

AMAZING!! The truffle fries are the best you will ever have. The meatloaf was to die for and only eat the Mac and Cheese, if you are willing to never have any Mac and Cheese meet that standard...yes it is that good. Great food great people. Love to eat here for Brunch and Dinner

A couple few months back I took my fiancé here for our 5 year anniversary to have dinner not knowing the area very well and I have to say it was the best decision we made. We ordered the specials New York strip steak and the salmon and man we talked about how good it was for days. In top of that they have decent selection of wine. Great staff and loved the set up but no so much the location. Anyways way to go fieldhouse!!!!! :) and thank for a great night

I went to the Field House on a Thursday afternoon and was immediately charmed by the decor, it has a crafty and elegant feel - lots of exposed wood with strings of lights draped from the rafters. It has a definite hip vibe that would not be out of place in Seattle, Portland or Austin. Drinks are served in Kerr jars and the mismatched silverware adds to the crafty ambiance. For appetizers we ordered polenta fries and fried brussels sprouts. The polenta fries had a nice crunch, they came with a spicy aioli that I really enjoyed but may be a little strong for some palates. The brussels sprouts were out of control tasty. They were fried without any discernible coating and were crispy and flavorful. Some of them had fallen apart a little bit in the cooking process and those rogue leaves were so savory and extra crunchy! Drinks were lemonades, which was a little sweeter than I like, but it tasted fresh and homemade so it gets huge bonus points; and iced teas which were refreshing and with faint notes of hibiscus, nice surprise. Lunch we ordered the This Burger. It was served on a roll with crispy shoe-string fries (my favorite!) and a sweetly spiced homemade ketchup on the side. The burger was excellent, it had a really notable char flavor from the grill that was balanced by the sweet caramelized onions and cranberry aioli. Overall: Cute, hip atmosphere. Don't forget the brussels sprouts and get a burger if you're looking for a primal flavor experience.

My boyfriend's mom took us here for breakfast while we were visiting from Tucson, and I'm so glad she did! I had the Haystack, which was unlike anything I've ever had before. It came out, literally looking like a little haystack with a fried egg on top. Between the hash browns, wild mushrooms, roast pork and gorgonzola, nearly every bite was different but equally delectable! The decor is lovely and the service is friendly. Can't wait to visit again!

After having just moved to BIL the night before from Cleveland, I was feeling particularly homesick. Yelp steered us here for breakfast our first morning, and I have to tell you... This was amazing!! It felt lie we were back at home and it made me feel good. The coffee is delish... We both had mochas. The French toast rivals my fave CLE spot... And that's saying a whole lot. I had the breakfast burrito which was also incredible... But I was stealing bites of French toast. The place is adorable. The menu is locally sourced. The service is great. I can't wait to go back.

I am in town for a couple of days for a conference and needed a nice dinner before the conference got started. Based upon another review here, I ordered the brussel sprouts; they did not disappoint. The aioli was well flavored, but not overpowering. The sprouts were good and the individual leaves that fell off were a nice treat as I cleaned the plate. This was a very nice recommendation. I then ordered the avocado taco. You get two and they are very nice sized. There was plenty of avocado, good slaw and a nice sauce. I am not a big salsa fan and you do not get that here. However, what you do get is much better in my humble opinion. The Tempranillo was very flavorful and better than a lot of wines I get by the glass. When I am next here in Billings I will make my way here; it was a very pleasant and satisfying way to begin my time here in town.

Passed through Billings while on a roadtrip, happened by this little gem of a restaurant/cafe. Shared the kale salad, beets with chevre and the cheese plate with my friend, it was excellent. Also good portions, all in all very well worth the price. Great ambiance too. Recommended!!

Outstanding food and service. This is a must stop for anyone coming through Billings. Every item on the menu looked delicious. We had the watermelon and burrata appetizers, and the meatloaf and Korean ribs entrees. All were superb and locally sourced.

I soooo agree with the review that suggests six stars for the Fieldhouse! What a treat to find such wonderful food in Billings. I had the corn chowder, soup of the day and a kale salad...I can' tell you which I liked best. If you are up for a hamburger this is the place. This is not Arby's orRed Robin, this is truly a dining experience. Great welcome and wonderful servers. Hooray for the Fieldhouse. Go! eat! enjoy!

I had the field house burger. For $15 I was expecting something bigger than a slider. The fries were soggy and the beef was dry and overcooked. Whoever made the house ketchup apparently forgot that ketchup contains vinegar and decided to compensate by loading it up with sugar. Overpriced I do not recommend.

I have a hard time giving The Fieldhouse Cafe a 2 star review. It was certainly not to the food quality or presentation. I'm not from Billings, but during a trip back in May I discovered the gem and ate there twice during a short stay in town. It was excellent and I was excited to return during a recent trip. The third visit was not the charm though and it was completely due to the lackadaisical service by our server. It is a shame that when so much thought and preparation goes into the food our foursome chose, and then the experience is destroyed by a waitress who would likely be out of place at a Chuck E Cheese on a Monday night. We inquired about a special they were running and the server said she was not sure and asked the couple next to us who we're enjoying said special. It was also a Friday night and the cafe was not close to capacity. Hopefully she will either change her attitude or seek another job. This place is excellent and deserves service of the same quality. I can't believe the owners would appreciate the attitude had they known. Slow, un-attentive, and rude. I'll surely try it again, especially given my first two visits were great. However if it had been my first visit it would be doubtful I would have returned.

Usually, I can handle poor service when the food is good. The food is generally good at Fieldhouse, but the service is consistently terrible. The worst service I've encountered in Billings. I came to this restaurant for the first time a week ago with my husband and a group of friends. We all received and finished our meals well before my husband received his lunch. Not only was he initially billed the full price for his entree, but he was also charged $2.00 for two tiny pieces of bread to go with his soup. They adjusted the bill when we expressed surprise at this charge, and so I decided to come back with a friend for lunch today. Knowing that they don't sell diet coke, I brought my own to complement my burger. A waitress told me I could not drink it because it didn't fit in with their organic theme. Give me a break. I can't drink my own diet coke? Fine, I abided by their stupid rule. Then, when I ordered french fries with my burger, which come as a side, but asked that they be truffle fries, she did not specify that truffle fries could only be ordered separately for $5.00. Of course, I only found out when I got the bill. Notwithstanding the above, the salads are consistently overdressed and the bread tastes stale. In a town the size of Billings, you would think a restauranteur would care about having repeat customers. Apparently not.

I am so conflicted about this place. I really want to LOVE it, but I don't. I love the concept - fresh, local, organic food. And, they have good vegetarian/vegan choices, which is great. The atmosphere is trendy and cute. I've heard awesome stories about the owner - how creative and hard-working he is. The food is pretty good. (at least what I've had has been good). I have NOT had their breakfast, which I hear is great. The trouble is - the customer service isn't good, and it takes SO LONG to get your food. I've been here 4 times, and that's been the case every time. I keep going back because I want to support local businesses with this concept. And I really like their burgers and truffle fries. :-) The servers are not very attentive - they don't do the basic things like keep your drinks full or check on you during your meal. The last time I was there the server didn't even tell us there were any specials that night. (I happened to overhear them from another table) I've been to A LOT of restaurants all over the country. I've been to quite a few that have this concept, with the local food and all. And I do understand that it take a little longer to cook and prepare. But the length of time it takes to get your meal here is crazy. One time we went in for lunch, ordered burgers and fries, and we were in there for an hour and a half! No joke. We went again for dinner the other night - again, had burgers, and our meal didn't get to us until 40 minutes after we ordered it. No, folks, I'm not looking for a fast-food paced restaurant, nor do I expect this place to be that. And I have NO problem sitting down to a nice, leisurely dinner and spending an hour or two relaxing and eating. I really feel bad even giving a critical review. People should really try this place out and form their own opinion. I hope they get the customer service/timing issues fixed. I will probably go back - I certainly want to try breakfast there.

This big city girl was big-time impressed with the farm-chic ambiance and inspired breakfast fare at the Fieldhouse. I came here with my boyfriend one morning during a family visit for the holidays. We had the daily special quiche, which was delicious, and the pancakes which were just the right fluffiness and size.. I was disappointed that they don't have bacon. Bacon is like the lifeblood for breakfast and it's an unfortunate oversight on the part of whomever is running this joint.

This place has amazing food. I was working in Billings for a week and I went to The Fieldhouse Cafe with my two coworkers. I am vegan and there was a good selection. The sprouts are amazing, easily the best I have ever had. My omnivore coworkers were equally impressed with their food. I highly recommend this place!

We were on a 3,000-mile road trip. Coming through Billings, we found this organic foods restaurant that served up one of the highlight meals of our trip. We came in for lunch. I shared an arugula-beets salad with one of my dining companions, along with the fried brussel sprouts, and the DELISH veggie tacos. I don't remember what everyone else at our table had (hamburgers, for one), but everyone loved their food. The waiter was very friendly and helpful too. I would go back here in a heartbeat. This place is a high quality gem in a region where organic foods restaurants are hard to find. The food tastes outstanding. Go there!

Can't say enough good things about this place! 2 of my sisters and I went in for lunch during the week. It was kind of slow in there, and the 2 owners were both working. The service was excellent (the female owner was extremely nice especially). I am vegan, and she was very accommodating, and really friendly. The place is decorated super cute, perfect for any occasion, and very spacious. I had a delicious quinoa kale dish and we shared truffle fries (with no cheese), which were sooooooooo good. They have a juice bar, and lots of healthy options. (Refreshing for Billings, which is overwhelmingly packed with chain restaurants.) 5 stars! If I lived in Billings, I'd be here all the time.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised to find such a gem in Billings, MT. I was on my way out of town as I had just stopped to sleep at a local motel, but decided to have a tasty breakfast before I left. This place was the best restaurant I've been to so far on my coast to coast roadtrip (still in South Dakota at the moment) - you can check out my full review and photos here: agirlwithglasses.com/201…

Amazing and healthy food. Been there for lunch and dinner and it was great both times. The atmosphere is hip and the service is great. The only recommendation I have is that if you are really hungry, order an appetizer along with an entree as the portions are a little small.

Had a good chicken salad, spicy but expensive and left me feeling like I needed to stop on the way back to the office for something more solid. I love to support new local business, and I love to support the local farmers/ranchers. The reviews for breakfast sounded good, but I am not sold on the lunch. I love the decor and the atmosphere. The staff and service were good, nothing exceptional. I asked for a bottled beer, they had nothing but dark brewed. (Waiting for delivery) then asked for lemon for the water, same response. Knowing they are newly opened, I know that they are working on the ordering of such. Again, I loved the interesting food, and am willing to give it another shot, as the service was good, the food was tasty, although a bit more than I usually spend for lunch

I have been to this restaurant a few times for lunch and breakfast and it has always been very good. I took my brother, who was visiting from LA, for breakfast this weekend. He had the Lemon Poppy pancakes special and I had the Haystack. Both were delicious and our server, Amanda, was extremely friendly and quick with the service. The only thing I would suggest to the owners is that the eggs benedict, which is sometimes on special, be added to the regular menu as it is delicious! This place is a refreshing change from the usual Billings restaurant scene and I would highly recommend.

  • Anne B.

The food here is absolutely delicious and the decor is beautiful but the service is truly awful. No matter what time of day we come in we wait forever for our food and are often left with empty glasses for long periods of time. It is not uncommon for the staff to bit know the specials or to leave some out. I love the concept of this restaurant and it is a welcome addition to Billings. I've supported them since they opened but I am just done with the service.

By far one of the best breakfast places in Billings. Rich, delicious food and great service. The owners are awesome, too. And it's in a fun part of town, which is being rejuvenated thanks to businesses like this one!

Tried this little treasure of a place for breakfast again, and it was even better than the first time! They've got all the bugs worked out in terms of service, chef even came out to check on us! Such a unique place with so much character. Billings needs more places like this, if only Billings residents didn't love their nasty chain restaurants so much...A girl can dream. Can't wait to go back!

  • Michael K.

New place in town... The food is 5 stars and the coffee is awesome. We had the French Toast and the Breakfast Burrito (The burrito was among the best I have ever had) The only downfall was the service. Food was extremely slow and they seem to still be working out some details (as another poster mentioned) If you have the time it is worth a visit. A little pricy for the Billings area, so if you enjoy volume of food over quality, then this might not be the place for you. But, if you are looking for some tasty food, this is the place to go.

  • April D.

We were greeted and seated right away, given water but then it went down hill...about 20 minutes passed before someone came by to take our order. We were not offered anything else to drink except water. The food arrived and was good. The waitress never came back to see how we liked the food. We were not offered dessert. Food is not good enough to tolerate bad service especially for the price.

This is the best new restaurant in Billings, with a hip modern environment and delicious food. The meatloaf with asparagus was fabulous, and my wife said the risotto was "to die for". Good wine and beer selection at reasonable prices. Can't wait to go back.

Warm and welcoming! Charming farmhouse meets modern in style and the perfect place to meet friends or eat alone. The food was exciting and fresh. I had the side salad and the Tuna Melt...wow best one I've had ever! The service was friendly and timely. I would definitely put this spot on my fav's in Billings!

I was in again for lunch today. Service and kitchen staff both appear really slow and indifferent to me, not at all customer oriented. Some of the food here is fine but my wife's salmon tacos ($15 for two small tacos, light on actual salmon and very heavy on filler shredded cabbage), truly a simple dish to prepare, had fish very overcooked, obviously too blackened and tasted exactly like charcoal. It was truly foolish to attempt to send this dish out without expecting it to come back. This sort of oversight has happened now on several visits and though they offer to comp the dish, I am annoyed at their "oh, allow us to do it over while you wait" attitude. That's annoying, to say the least. Sorry, not when we have been seated in your restaurant for an hour with no food whatsoever, not even a small amount of bread in front of us. Not when I have had to wave the waitress over when she can't herself ask if the food is being enjoyed. Billings restaurants desperately need trained and inspired culinary talent in the kitchen but many, Fieldhouse Cafe included, just need some sense of real world professionalism. In the last few years Billings has become a marketplace filled with me-too restaurants that rely on heat and serve cooking, as often as not with a microwave oven or food directly from a can - the dining out standard around town is pitifully low and worthy competition absent (for the moment at least). Perhaps as a direct consequence, Field house Cafe seems content to coast by serving prettied up short order food - fried eggs, burgers, waffles, cheese plates - at inflated prices. I still like the organic concept, a move I hope other restaurants embrace, but this place is miles from real value for me.
