Fantastic wait staff. Shakes delicious. Steak and Shake paper cars challenging to assemble, but I overcame the tiny sticker challenge with my fat fingers! Bathrooms clean too--nice scented hand soap. Great view of the dry arid Billings landscape. Mike, or Mike-ish is a delightful server, at least he laughed at all my jokes...ok courtesy laughed. I may not come back here again because I live out of state, but they promised if I did weekdays between 3-5pm, they'd give me half off on all their drinks! What a life. Come on haters, give it a break!!

Drive up attendant got grease all over my credit card from gloves he was wearing. The probably had raw meat on them as well. My snickers shake tasted like something other than snickers. Not sure what was wrong with it but I think the ice cream was bad.

I travel a lot for business and always try to find a good burger. Steak n Shake was very good. Arrived around 7:00 pm. Place was packed but I was seated immediately. Server was responsive and pleasant. Ordered the original double with Fries and a soda. Will definitely go back when in Billings!

The prices are wrong on this yelp app. It advertises a 4 dollar menu but when I went there they said that did not exist. The fries are good if you like thin cut fries. I ordered a regular cheese burger. It's just a burger, nothing special.

The burgers and shakes are really good. Probably right between Wendy's and Red Robin in quality. But, as other reviewers have said, the service is atrocious. My husband and I waited for nearly ten minutes to be seated when there was maybe three full tables. The waitresses tend to vanish into thin air and asking for anything (refills, sauce, etc.) will get you an eye roll. The line to pay moves insanely slow. The atmosphere is pretty cold and stark. It looks like they're trying to go classic burger drive in themed, but failed. If we go back, we'll probably do takeout.

DO NOT EAT HERE!!! TERRIBLE!!!! WOW!!!! You cannot get seated. Hostess ignores you. Nobody seems to be willing to clear dirty tables. No sense of urgency. No smiles. Food is terrible. I had the Frisco burger and a chocolate shake. Both were horrible. I will never go back... The cook staff seemed to be working hard... The wait staff was atrocious. Choose Wendy's or McD's or Dairy Queen for fast burgers. Choose Red Robin for a better experience.

I had some time to kill, so I went inside to eat opposed to going through the drive through. I was seated quickly, but it took a good 20 minutes for a server to acknowledge me. My burger and fries were good, but small. Not bad for the price though. Kept it under $5. Atmosphere was okay, a little unclean, but alright.

The family and myself were out and about and decided to drop in for lunch on a Saturday at 11:30am. We had a 20 minute wait to be seated. No issues on this as they were very busy. Ordered the mushroom burger and we split a cheddar dog. Both were very good. We also had the turtle shake was also delicious. Waitress was very nice and our service was good. We will be back.

There were only three tables of customers and they wanted to seat us between two very loud tables. Kindly asked if we could sit anywhere else, and was told NO. There are no open tables, by two servers. When there were only three tables in use. This is two hours before close and they can't be accommodating. Will never eat here again based on the terrible hospitality.

This place has good prices and good food. However, they're service is terrible and the waiters don't seem to know what they're doing. Food takes about an hour to make. So don't come to this place if you have any other plans

We were giving it a couple of weeks to open so all the traffic would calm down. Even though it was still very busy, we walked in and had a booth for 4 in less than 5 minutes waiting. Keep in kind this was on a Sunday evening at 6pm. Our server we very good- drinks were ordered and brought to the table (2 diet Cokes, a lemonade, and a milk) promptly. We ordered a classic double with bacon with all the veg, and the specialty fries (salt and pepper, salt and vinegar, and also parmesan cheese). It took a little while to get our order hut our server kept updating us and kept our drinks full while we talked and waited. Also we were greeted by the shift supervisor and thanks as she went around - very pleasant to talk with. The burgers were great - get the double if you are hungry, and the triple if you are extra hungry. Fries were also great - they are thinner than other fast food places and it's a nice change. The specialty fries were very good. Overall, the service was excellent, and the food was also very good and met our expectations, plus some. A great experience (with kids) and we enjoyed our first trip. We will be going back!!

Horrible experience! We walked in on a semi crowded night, and asked for a booth. Even with three booths open, we were told no, because there was only two of us. We got stuck the middle tables right in the middle walkway. The waitress that approached was nice enough, but just enough to be noticeably fake. After sitting for a while we noticed more booths open, so again I asked the hostess to move us for comforts sake. She huffed rolled her eyes...but moved us. That is when a total loss of communication occurred. Our waitress looked me dead in the eye, seen that we had moved and she just walked away. Next we see a lady bringing out the shakes, to the old table and looking around, completely confused. I was finally able to wave her down and explained that the shakes were ours, we simply moved. I thought maybe now that three employees knew we had moved, it should be ok, wrong. Out comes the next server with the burgers, same lost in the wilderness look. I try flagging her down, she looks right at me and tells me that I need to hold on, she is busy. I just stare at her like, really???? I have to loudly say to her, those are our burgers, we just moved seats. We never saw our server again. Finally I just asked another server passing by if she could take care of us, and assured her that she would get any tips. She seemed happy to do so. She got tipped 20% for giving us a simple bit of acknowledgement, and a refill. I could understand all of this, had we just moved not telling a soul. Four employees knew we had moved, our original server knew we moved and we were simply forgotten about. It was, like I said a horrible experience. We are from the south and have been to many steak and shakes in the past, this is the first bad experience. We won't be back. Oh, and I only wish I had thought to pull out my camera. My wife had a chicken sandwich, I kid you not there was enough chicken to cover one half of the sandwich and to have one bite on the other side. She was able to stop of the servers and ask them for a new, larger piece of chicken which they did provide. It was just ridiculously small. Retrain your staff, Billings managers!!!

Great prices. Service is slow. When the place gets busy the staff can not keep up. Food is slow to come out after ordering. The dining area is to small and not enough seating.

It's ok but here is burger 101 you call a quarter pound a 4 to 1 third pound 3 to 1 it's the number of patties to the pound. McDonald's uses 5 to 1 dose doors shake and steak. The burgers are thin, even the triple is less then the 3 to 1. If your hungry order 2 doubles. Nothing spectacular. Friends from st. Louis told me about how great they are. How lucky we were to get one. We in billings have many great burger places this is ok. Nice staff

Lines out the door in winter... Drive thru 20 cars deep... Must be awesome food... Ummmm, not even close. Just another example of how deprived the good people of Billings are of good places to eat... First you lined up for Sonic drive-in and now you line up for this slop??? Please stop... you are embarrassing yourselves... One review said that this is the best burger in Montana... If that is true, its time to move to another state...

Went here Wednesday evening. What a mistake! When we arrived most tables were dirty, the floors were dirty, and the three girls working the front apparently had a contest to see who could move the slowest. At most there were 7 tables filled. There were 2 ladies in front of us that ended up walking out because no one waited on them and apparently another group left since the menus were still on the table next to us. We thought about leaving to but thought we would give it a shot since we have never been and we'll never go back! Asked the girl that sat us to put us by the window but she refused because that would mean she would have to clean the table. We told her it would be fine we could wait and she told us no that it was easier if we just sat at a table already clean. So we sat where she wanted us to. After a few minutes or waitress came over and took our drink order. We ordered chocolate milk for our little boy. She brought our ice tea but not the milk because "it is made on the other side" apparently. fifteen minutes later milk arrived and it was almost black, we got chocolate with a hint of milk. We orders a shake when we placed our order for food and did not get it until we were almost done eating. Must also be made on the other side, which must mean the other side of town because when we finally got it it was essentially thick milk almost completely melted. The burgers were so-so. They fell apart when trying to eat them and were a big mess. My husband ordered the sea salt and black pepper fries and i had the parmesan fries. I'm guessing the salt shaker broke because our fries were so salty they were essentially inedible. The girl that sat us acted way over worked. She was clearing a booth next to us and had to sit and rest and sigh to make sure we all knew how hard she was working. When we left over an hour later, most of the tables that were dirty when we got there were still dirty and only two other parties walked in. Noticed a sign that said they were looking to hire great help and cannot blame them because what they have is not working.

Went there on a recommendation of a friend. Place was extremely busy, but the servers were fast and courteous. The food tasted ok...nothing special. Sure wouldn't go out of my way to go there again. Portion was really small. Hadn't eaten breakfast and wanted another burger to fill me up.

When it's good it's good, but when it is bad it is terrible. Most of the time, food is great, service is great. Sometimes, it is just downright awful service. Hopefully management can correct the service problems-if that is fixed, I'd give it 5 stars.

The worst drive through EVER!! How can it take 20 minutes plus to get a burger?! This place got two stars instead of one because the food is actually good if you wait long enough to receive it.

They have only been open for a little over a week. I have been there twice and both times have been disappointing. Burgers were cold, cheese not melted, stale fries, milkshakes tastes icy and don't even taste like it has real ice cream. Long drive through times. Friendly staff though...they need to get their shit together. Will try again in a few months I guess...

If you want the best burgers and fries in all of montana this is the place. Have been four times since they opened and my orders have always been correct,food fantastic and the staff friendly. The only problem I see is there is only one please open more!!
