Salad with house made blue cheese dressing Ribeye steak Mushroom stuffing (out of this world) is so worth the trip. Very reasonable for such a great meal. Worth going.

Best service! Their seafood is flown in twice a week and never frozen. Say whaaaa Coming from Seattle myself, I can verify that salmon is freaking fresh. Good stuff! Try the mashed squash, has onions and good flavor in it

Wish it would have been after work so I could enjoy a beer but the food was really good I have to say the highlight of everything we ate were the crab stuffed mushrooms they were delicious and not to expensive for all the food we ate

I usually refrain from giving my max 5 stars, but I've been here 3 times in 2 days and have not been disappointed but pleasantly surprised all 3. So far: Best service has been from Nicole. She had a welcoming smile and pleasant demeanor plus she was able to guide me to a decision for my dish when I struggled. Best dish was the BBQ shrimp (which has no BBQ sauce but is grilled on BBQ hence the namesake). The buttery seasoned sauce with mashed potatoes and garlic toast makes you want to continue eating when you really shouldn't. Best time of day to go is Sunday around 1pm where all 3 menus (Brunch, Lunch, and dinner) are available for selection. Brunch ends at 2pm.

Traveled to Billings from Southern Ca.last week to visit daughter. She wanted to take us out to the best steak dinner we had ever eaten. Wrong,my wife, daughter, and grand daughter, all ordered their steak well done. A $30.00 steak should be perfect, had to send the steaks back twice, underdone!!!,then when they were finally done the steaks were so dry you couldn't eat them. Daughter felt bad because of her build up. Probably won't be coming back here. Dennys is much cheaper, and of the same quality steaks.

I was traveling through and decided to give the place a try. It was great! The service was quick, helpful, and polite. The pork chop I had was cooked to perfection and the carrot side dish was delicious. The price was very reasonable and I would recommend this resturant to everyone because yhe menu has a good selection for many tastes.

I can see why travelers may not be over the moon about this place. It was packed - both bar and tables. The service is a little slow, but no more so than standard in Montana/Wyoming. I had the lamb chops with squash casserole. I thought the squash was great (another yelper suggestion). The lamb chops were a bit over cooked (ordered medium rare) and WAY over salted. Wine and beer selections were decent but the bar lacks. Standard mid and bottom shelf sections but if you're looking for an after dinner drink you may be disappointed.

Good Ole Moran delivers again in Montana, great place. This is for the drinkers out there: try the Moscow mule! Also, shitty parents sit there kids at the bar and complain when you talk like adults.

Montana Rib & Chop House came highly recommended by many Billings natives so I figured that I had to check out this quality steakhouse. When I arrived I opted for a seat at the bar and asked what local brews were on top, the waitress suggested a Harvest Moon Belgium White, which was great. I never really expected Montana to have so many quality craft brews. For my entree I ordered the Buffalo Ribeye which was served with a side of mashed potatoes and a Loaded Baked Potato Soup as a starter. The soup was good, however the highlight was the 16oz Buffalo Ribeye which came out still sizzling. This was probably one of the best cuts of meat I have had, it was so tender and full of flavor. I highly recommend making a stop at Montana's Rib & Chop House. Prices are reasonable for a steak house, but keep in mind you are paying for a quality steak so prices are a little bit more than your typical chain steakhouses but you get what you pay for and here you get an amazing meal that will make you want to return again and again!

We had awesome steaks, rib eye and filet. Amazing price on the Walla Walla Amavi Cab to go with our steaks. Perfect for our traveling home dinner.

Great food and service. A bit pricey on some items but reasonable on others. My wife asked for medium rare on her ribeye and it was done right the first time. Seems like lately there have been more misses than hits with cooking of meats in our dining experiences.

Always an enjoyable meal here at Rib n Chop. Best item on the menu is the Fried Green Tomatoes. However usually everything is very good and decent priced. I have had rough service a couple of times. But otherwise it's usually ok. Love the Chop House Caesar although this last time I ordered it I was surprised at how much smaller it was than in times passed. Still a good deal, but don't go raising the price on it now!

The Surf & Turf is delicious ! Fried Green Tomatoes - yummy! Very nice place and great service! Easy to find !

  • Ellen B.

Great service! The stuffed mushrooms were awesome. The pork chop was a mile high and fantastic. The shrimp and scallop Alfredo was awesome. Bozone beer was great. Must stop here if traveling through.

This place was okay. I was passing through the states and found this place on yelp. Maybe it was I ordered that I didn't think was all that special. Had the pulled pork sandwich. A little bit bland tasting. Tasted ordinary. I think the only thing I really liked was the drinks. The blackberry champagne and the beers were really good. Our waitress was very friendly and warm. She made some good suggestions on the menu, except for the food I guess. I feel like the crowd was more toward the elderly becuase there were a lot of old people there. I was satisfied with my experience, however if I were to pass through here I would like to try somewhere different. It wasn't great but it wasn't terrible.

Definitely not the best steak I have ever had yet not the worst. Many steakhouses fear or refuse to season their steaks, to many taste buds out there. Our waitress was awesome!! Many steakhouses get "offended" if you ask for ketchup, A-1, or Heinz steak sauce, they were very easy going and friendly for me. I ordered the filet, and the fully loaded baked potato. Everything was great. As with most steakhouses , the prices were a bit high but I didn't mind the price. The atmosphere is very cozy and perfect. The bar looked like it was happening place and it was still early on a weekday. If in the area I would recommend giving this place a try. Don't get suckered in to buy something from their display case when you first walk in.

  • Valley J.

Everything our group ordered on the menu was fantastic! The crayons on the butcher paper during the wait was a nice touch, and our waiter wrote his name upside down and backward on it for us to remember. Impressive place with delicious food, can't beat that!

  • Preet S.

Surprised that they actually carry gascon malbec. The food however wasn't all that. Too much butter on the steaks, not enough flavor. Ever hear of salt and pepper? The service was good though but still I'm going to a restaurant for food, if they cant deliver that. I have no reason to go back.

I'm Pretty much a regular. Great food and usually great service. So if you go here there's a decent chance you'll be fine. To the management- service is slipping. Tonight halfway through our meal the waitress same and asked if we wanted a check or dessert. Knowing we would likely be ordering more drinks I asked for some time to consider our options. She said no problem but not three minutes later was back dropping the check at the table. I asked her if she was getting off work and she said no she's there all night. So I guess we were inconveniencing her? Needless to say she got her way and we wrapped up what we had and left with no additional orders.

  • Jeremy L.

One of my favorite places to eat in Billings. Prices are really decent, beer options are great, and the quality of the food is generally good. I'm a huge fan of the squash side! Can be super busy and very loud, so always best to go during non-peak hours.

    (5)
  • Juan L.

They were very busy and the service was not great, which is understandable. I ordered their famous filet, with blue cheese crumbles, baked beans, & a glass of their black stallion cabernet and it was amazing!

    (4)
  • William A.

Popular place it appears. Bar service (week night) is very slow and inattentive. To go order took 45 minutes....

  • Doug S.

Well, for me on that night it was as good as it gets. Great, social, friendly bar staff especially Manda, did every thing right. She let me sample several wines, offered a good recommendation on the salad dressing and served me a delicious perfectly prepared baseball cut sirloin. 10pz was just ok for me, 12 with small price bump would work better. But if you like a good big baked potato, that will fill you, huge! Great food, great and friendly service, limited but well chosen wine selections at decent prices, TV's scattered around the bar area for sports addicts like me, nice building, in and out. Again I sat at the bar, which was clean and spacious w/ decent chairs. The only minor suggestion is to use a bigger plate for the steak so you don't have the potato on a separate plate. I prefer my hot food on the same plate. Not enough to deduct a a star. 5 for my first time dinner there!

I love this place! Every time iv gone iv had great service and my food was amazing! Will continue to go there :)

  • Cory B.

It's really good. I ordered the 9-10oz filet medium-well. I just like it to be cooked. It was more like medium but still was good. The atmosphere is loud in the bar area. The plates are small but enough to fill up a normal person who doesn't overeat. This is definitely a small town place though. The server personally knew quite a few people here. But this IS Montana so it's pretty much small town everywhere. I'd come here again.

Had the Bison steak, cooked rare. The steak was cooked to my exact specifications and tasted like nirvana. We had the Lobster Bisque, which was equally delicious, and an appetizer of sauteed garlic mushrooms. My girlfriend had a seafood pasta which she thoroughly enjoyed. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable of their menu, as well as their wine and liquor menu and what went well with what. I will definitely continue to eat here.

Food was excellent and the service even better. I would highly recommend the Montana Rib & Chop House for a great meal. Our server, Holly, was awesome and made sure we had a great experience.

  • Kenwood G.

don't know where these great reviews are coming from, but our experience was really really bad. we chose to drive farther and avoid Texas roadhouse in favor of this restaurant. bad move. our dinner was served in less time than it took for a server to acknowledge us. the entrées showed up when we were half way done with our salads. when I asked about the price of a house wine the server wasn't sure. when she brought the wine she still didn't have the price. the side of sweet potato souffle was dried out and lacked flavor, my jambalaya was 4 different temperatures from COLD meat to blistering hot shrimp. plus it tasted like tomato, nothing else. the Louisiana hot sauce didn't help much. I recommend don't bother.

This place was okay it was packed it was crazy. I made reservations for me and my husband to celebrate his birthday it was a disappointment. We had to wait till a table was open even tho we had reservations didn't make any sense. The waitress was pushy and the place was loud. The food was casual and okay it was way over priced tho.

  • Corrina G.

Went in on a Monday night before dinner rush. I ordered the pot roast my husband had steak and squash casserole. Meat was good, squash side had zero taste. It used to be amazing a few years ago, now it is bland. Our waitress was a complete flake. She couldn't remember when asked for something as simple as a water refill. When we ordered dessert, she asked for my order, then turned and walked away before my husband could order! If you want to go to Rib and Chop, I suggest making the drive to Livingston. At least they seem to care if you have a good experience.

  • Damion W.

This is one of the best places I went to during my time in Billings. They had a DAMN good steak and it was hot, fresh, and exceeded my expectations. I had the buffalo ribeye and it was cooked PERFECTLY! The only drawback is I wanted some type of veggie on the side and they only veggie they had was mac and cheese (YES, mac and cheese!). Do people in MT not eat vegetables? Can I get a side salad in this BIOTCH? LOL The service was good and the placed was wall-to-wall packed. It is great to see a place that does not sacrifice quality when they are making mass quantities of food. Excellent job Montana Rib and Chop House!

First the good: Our server was friendly and fun. And the not so good: The food was mediocre at best. The baseball sirloin started out looking good; however, it is served on a sizzling hot plate. Besides splattering grease all over me and my clothes (I didn't really care, but some people would), it continued to cook well past my temperature request, such that it was well-done before I got a quarter of the way through it. The potato was fine, but the 'steamed' vegetables were horrific. Appearance-wise, it looks like a nice restaurant. But the lights are so bright, that the ambience feels more like a McDonalds restaurant. Oh, and the price was very high for the quality of food. Now for the bad: I am now violently ill, with a clear case of food poisoning. I felt ill early this morning, and it has now progressed into severe and repeated vomiting. Sorry for the graphic comments, but it was clear that food preparation isn't taken seriously at this place. I will be contacting the health department to report my condition.

Great food, good service, nice prices. My steak was well cooked and my huckleberry margarita was awesome. Good lunch menu.

Best sirloin steak EVER and I have done a bunch. Service from Phoebe genuine and very responsive. Steak served very hot. Baked potato very fresh. High energy and noisy. Be forewarned. Not your intimate staid steakhouse. WAY BEYOND the steakhouse chains. Great value.

Eaten here too many times to count, client makes us stay in the hotel next to this place. No matter when I come here it is wall to wall mayhem, yes 20 screaming kids for a birthday party next to our table, after 12 hours of work, it's not what you need to be hearing on a Monday night. Ordered the plank salmon, salad, begged for hot rolls, my SO had a steak that was so-so, short on presentation, and taste, obviously the beef had not mooed it's way from the great state of Texas. I wanted to taste their lobster mac as I'm a pro at that but noooooo taste testing. Cocktails not so great, apparently no BYOB here as most folks seemed to be walking boozies, guess it keeps them warm. Wait staff are impressed with drawing their name on the table cloth, our waiter tripped over 3 tables to grab crayons, hmmm not thinking I'm teaching kindergarten here, just wanted a nice yummy dinner.

Best Steak in Billings for the Price. Our latest visit, I had the filet mignon and my husband had the New York. Done to perfection and so great tasting. I always, always get the squash casserole as my side - I wish they would share the recipe! A nice aside is that the drinks are reasonably priced - they don't skimp on size or amount of alcohol in a mixed drink, which is rare among nicer restaurants in Billings. The staff is exceptionally friendly - our waiter, Tully, was great, as was the bartender. Two down sides - this is definitely not a place for a romantic dinner. It is NOISY. They should also install a heater in between the double doors - on a cold winter night, we felt a frigid blast every time the door opened - both while sitting at the bar, and at our table, which wasn't far from the door. I feel for the poor hostess having to stand there all night - brrrr!

  • Keesia J.

Terrible service. French onion soup was actually only a beef onion soup, no cheese or crouton. When asked, server Nicole said, oh yeah I couldn't find it anywhere. Friendly girl, but can't seem think things through. Chop house is no longer the "nice" place it used to be when there was only the Livingston location. We've given a few chances over the years but am no longer going to waste our time and money here.

Came here for dinner on the way through Billings. Ordered ribs, wings, and chicken fingers. The food was all very good - can't complain about anything. I would definitely recommend just going with a rack of ribs, as opposed to getting a sampler like I did. However, as good as the food was, the service was nothing special. The hostess wasn't terribly friendly, the waitress forgot my beer and then brought me the wrong one when she finally remembered (halfway through dinner). It wasn't terrible, but I wasn't impressed. All in all, if you want some good ribs in Billings with a good selection of beer and wine, this is a great place. Just don't expect to be wowed by the service.

  • Sty F.

Ordered calamari, bison ribeye and the 1 lb ribs. Calamari was good; bison ribeye was tender; the ribs sauce were good. I would recommend this place and would be coming back when I am in the area. Prices are expensive though. The kids meal is $4.95 and the quantity is like $1.99. Seems like it's just 3 spoonful of Mac and cheese.

Excellent Food - Incredible Service. This place gets it!! We sat up at the bar (It's super popular aka busy, so be prepared to wait or better yet make a reservation), and the bartender was absolutely fantastic! She was personable, attentive, funny, and never let the business wash over her service to others. We ordered the fish special of the night, and the grilled chicken...both were mouth watering good. I highly recommend!

  • Edie D.

The Rib and Chop house recently had and offer of live a !'4lb (3 to 5 oz of meat) Maine lobsters on Thurs Feb. 12 until supplies lasted. We got there at 5:00pm--opening is usually at 430pm. Needless to say ALL the lobsters were sold within 45 mins . So what was a person to do but stay and order an expensive meal? Quite a scam to book the place full for a Thursday night. We won't be back.

Great food and great service!! This is definitely one of the better eateries in Billings, I really like their rib eyes and the fish new orleans is just plain delicious! The lunch specials are great $10 for a 8oz steak, potato, and salad or soup! We have always had good service when we go to the Rib and Chop. But Kelsey Kietzman is by far our favorite server. She is prompt, friendly, and very attentive to her customers' needs!

    (5)
  • Kathy N.

Ate there today with our family. Make sure you ask the price of the specials before ordering. My husband ordered the steak special without asking the price and the waiter did not mention that it was $67.95. Needless to say we learned and the steak was not close to being worth this amount. Wow!

I was with a tour group visiting Yellowstone and came here for dinner. I had New York Steak cooked rare, my husband had the full rack ribs. Loved the stake, definitely one of the best steak I ever had. Makes me hungry just thinking about it. Too bad we lived in CA. Otherwise, this restaurant would definitely be on my go to restaurant for steak. P.S. This place is packed. Make a reservation before you go.

I am really thankful for this place. After trying far too many disappointing eateries, a friend came to visit from Minnesota and just happened to stop in at Montana's Rib and Chop House on his way to our place. He couldn't stop raving about how the steak he ate was the best he's ever had; he eats out a lot, and is willing to spend a fortune on a great steak, and he insisted that his steak dinner was inexpensive for the amount of high quality food he had. So, my husband and I enjoyed our very next "date night" at the Rib and Chop House. The food was fantastic, it was loud (which, in our language, is fun), and the service was solid. An important feature that really stood out was the margarita; I have been crying the blues since moving from Texas that I haven't had a decent margarita since we've gotten to Montana. Those days are over! This place has the best margaritas, and reasonably priced -- not cheap, but reasonable. This restaurant isn't the "oh my gosh, this is my favorite restaurant ever," but I always like the food there, we get treated like friends and valued customers by the servers, we're never offended by the bill, and the margaritas rock. It's on our reliable Date Night Spot list for sure.

My husband and me had date night at RIb and Chop House it was very good. The atmosphere is a little loud, however everyone was having a good time. Be sure to try the Loaded Potato Soup it is AWESOME!!! The rest of our meal was delicious and very filling. The staff is fantastic from the hostess down to the bus boy!!!!! Great Job EVERYONE!!

Tucked in an industrial complex behind a couple of hotels you'll find this hidden gem! Everything was good! It gets packed early so be prepared to wait!

  • Tina W.

We've only had lunch here but absolutely love it! The lunch menu had a 10oz steak with salad & garlic mashers for $9.95! And the boyfriend LOVES it! I love the shrimp po' boy. Amazing aioli & sweet potato fries. Yum yum yum and it's NOT expensive, even the dinner menu for the great food. Service was good too. One of our faves in town. :) Now we've had dinner here twice and the food and service are just as excellent! It's a sign when you drive up to the obscure location and the cars are lined up parked all the way to the restaurant. You're missing out if you haven't been here before!

  • Patrick L.

The food was really good. I had the ribs and giant baked potato. There was no wait for a table even with a packed house! Our server was very cute and polite, I think her name was Alissa. If you like meat, whether its beef, pork, chicken, fish or lamb, I'd certainly try this place out.

My daughter recently held my Grandson's Rehearsal dinner here & everything was wonderful and plentiful....entire racks of baby back ribs, salmon, rib eye steak, & chicken. I tasted all of them and they were beyond delicious. The service provided was wonderful and the personnel very friendly and accommodating. Wish we had this place in California. I'd highly recommend them!

We went to Montana's Rib and Chop House in Billings on Sunday August 10th because Jake's was closed and we wanted a good steak. Being from Missoula, I am used to good steak restaurants in Montana and wanted to show off a good steak restaurant. This was a disgrace. The State of Montana should sue them and make them remove the word "Montana" from their name. First, we waited 15 minutes - from the time I started timing the wait - for our salads. That means that it was at least 25 minutes. The salads arrived without apology. The salad was tiny. Side salads at 4B's used to be bigger. And, we were paying $28.95 and $26.95 for the steaks, respectively, salad and one side. (baked potato was extra?) Were we in New York City? Because the salad was so late, the steak was served prior to our finishing our salads. Now the steak. Both ordered rare. Both were served medium rare. Each steak had at least 2 ounces of fat. The rib eye had a huge chunk of fat on one end. The steaks were supposed to be 12 - 16 ounces. So, at least 10% was fat. One side of the New York strip was about ¼ inch of fat. The steak was good, but not good enough for the price. This place is overpriced. Maybe I'd pay $15.00 for the meal I had. I'll never go back and I'm embarrassed for the State of Montana.

Solid steak I had the ribeye at a medium and was cooked right on. the waiter was pretty good at getting what we wanted even though it was busy. only issue is even though it wasn't overly crowded it was quite hard to here the conversation. overall solid place to eat.

Why this place is packed every night I'll never understand. Really, it's just average at best. Service is "Okay". Nothing to write home to mom about. You receive service but you'll hardly notice it. The food is hit or miss. Seriously. I've given this place 4 chances and the best they could do for me was to underwhelm my senses. The baseball cut Sirloin is a favorite here and it's pretty good but I've had better steak at Texas Roadhouse. Oh, and one important thing to remember: order your steak one temperature below what you want. They pride themselves on bringing these things out sizzling hot but they continue to cook. If you order medium you'll probably receive well done and have a dry hunk of meat to try and choke down. Don't even THINK about ordering the Cedar Plank Salmon. It smells wonderful when they bring one by your table but mine was so dry my water glass evaporated. If you're forced at gunpoint to go eat at this restaurant try the ribs. They're actually pretty darned good and with a side of garlic shrooms, the two make for a tasty combo. That being said, there are better places to get ribs in town. If you go here for lunch, two people can dine on the chicken strips/fries as it's an enormous portion.

Aps: calamari, the good kind with the little baby tentacles. Aiole was spot on. Phood: rib eye, rare, giant. Well seasoned, best steak I've had in a long time. Garlic mashed taters were ight.

After having the Apple Cobbler a la mode per a colleage's suggestion, I now have to come to Montana's Rib and Chop every time I'm in Billings. It is definitely the best apple cobbler I've ever had and is one of favorite ever desserts (this is comming from a serious chocoholic). Cobbler aside, the Salmon with the Jamaican Brown Sugar Glaze is good (at least for a $16 fish dish at a steak place in Montana). The sweet, savory and slightly spicy flavors go together so wonderfully and in the three times I've ordered it the Salmon has always been perfectly cooked (Juicy and just shy of being undercooked). From my few visits, service has been pretty decent. I just wish the sides weren't so bland and there was a green veggie option. Overall I'd be tempted to give this place three to three and a half stars but salmon and cobbler are so good, I give it four.

    (4)
  • Starry J.

It's actually a 2.5 stars but since we don't have that option, I opted to give them 3 stars. I was in a big group that had reservations. Despite that, we still got to sit in the lobby and wait for 20 minutes before we were seated. Our server was nice but the steak was way over cooked. I ordered a medium-rare and my steak came out closer to well done. I had a little pink in the middle but it was mostly brown all over. Not a good sign for a steak house.

  • Randy M.

Dinner with my wife. I normally have the Rib eye, this time tried the ribs. The ribs were mediocre at best. I hadn't had ribs this dry ever. They had obviously sat under a heat lamp for too long. Next time I'll go back to the ribeye. Service was excellent, staff was very enjoyable, drinks awesome. Even with the dry ribs I highly recommend the Rib and Chop house.

Gave this a try on recommendation of a local coworker. First, it's hard to find, very unlikely you will find it on Google Maps or any other GPS... Majestic Ln is a made-up private loop driveway/road. Management... people should be able to find the place. Second, for a steakhouse... at $24.00 plates... I'm not thinking family-friendly dining. Do you really want to sit next to the kids in high chairs tossing the food around? I treated two coworkers to dinner, we each had smaller cuts of steak, plus 1 or 2 drinks each, bill was $121.00. The ambiance is kind of like an upscale Sizzler on the inside... I'm thinking for that price, I expected better. Now the bizarre. We were in town on business, asked a few questions on the menu. The waiter detected our lack of speaking "redneck" or "yeah ya-betcha" and asked where we were from. California. His reply? "Oh, are you gonna want any of those fancy vegetably things? ". What? Like those natural food groups that are high & fiber and increase digestive regularity? So for $25.00.. you get a 10 oz steak (I had the ribeye, it was excellent... I'll give them props there). I had about the lamest salad I've ever seen... it was about 3 leaves of iceberg lettuce with some kind of goopy salad dressing out of a can or bottle. Unhealthy-looking tomato, and there might have been a tiny drop of onion in there or something. No green veggies to be found on the menu, I guess that would be the "fancy vegetably things". The options could be summed up as a side with "potato" ... sweet potato, baked potato, mashed potato. Hope you like your starch & protein. Potato was ok, but seemed weird to get two plates.. one with a hunk of meat, the other with a smallish bowl of mashed potatoes. Even the coworker from the south known to be a little country-folk himself was saying he wished he had some green beans or something with it. Just kind of seemed like you expected something else. Tried the creme brulee' for dessert... I suppose if you hadn't ever had great creme brulee' it would taste awesome... but it was seared on top as it should be, but the pudding was lukewarm and actually a bit lumpy. I think they pulled it out of the fridge, flamed it, and served it. It's supposed to be warm & creamy. I think if it was more in line of price with the quality of the service and the meal options, dessert quality... I'm thinking about the range of $80 for the above, I would have rated it higher. Just seems like when you are into the Ruth's Cris price range, or Walker's in downtown Billings, you need to step up the game a lot. Food was fine, I just thought it seemed overpriced for what it was. 4 stars if cheaper, but I'm knocking it down for being really over-priced.

I love this place in Livingston, MT and its great in Billings too! Yes, the steaks are a bit pricey. But the food is always GREAT! The pork chop was not the best, but the surf and turf, burgers, and the grilled shrimp were really good. If you get dessert, try the apple cobbler or the ice cream sandwich. Service was great also. gets busy at times, you have to just plan for the wait.

Fantastic Steak. Would give some of the steakhouses in Nashville a run for their money. Best place I ate at while in Montana.

Overall, my wife and I enjoyed our visit here. It was busy for a Friday night but we were seated within 15 minutes. Our waiter did a wonderful job. I got the Baseball Cut Top Sirloin with a loaded baked potato. The steak had good flavor and was decent for a sirloin. My wife had the filet which was excellent. The loaded potato was good, except the bacon bits were cold which I didn't like. The tasted like they had just been pulled straight out of the fridge and thrown on the potato on the way out of the kitchen. We'll probably give this place another try down the road.

Four-and-a-half stars. Strictly talking steaks and ribs - plus a loaded baked potato - this place has the others that I've tried in this area (Jake's, Walker's) beat. My filet came cooked to order: medium. They served it on a sizzling plate (a la Ruth Chris, but those guys overcooked my steak - so much for hoity toity national chains), and it was mighty tasty. The calamari was only so-so, but based on the red meat, this place gets five stars. And our server Ryan was quite good, too.

Had a nice dinner with 6 of us enjoying excellent cocktails and beer first. Corkage only 8 bucks so we brought nice wine too. Filets and ribeyes were very good. My baker was only ok, but the squash casserole seemed to be a hit. Had to ask for bread with our salads, waiter looked surprised by the request. The server was very attentive and friendly enough. Dining room was a bit boxy with not as much charm as you would think. If you are serving $25 entrees you should at least have cloth napkins at dinner...just sayin! Overall quite pleasant of an experience.

Great cut of meat, lots of local beers on tap, and a short walk from my hotel. All in all I think it was mission acomplished. Come to Montana this is what I expected and this is what I got. I will be back. I didn't give it five stars because there was nothing green on the sides menu. I needed something green to make my heart happy.

I eat here a lot. I've always had great service. Best steak I've had anywhere. I get the ribeye. I also love the cedar plank salmon with the brown sugar glaze. Yum! I try to take friends who like to split dishes so I can get the steak and the salmon. :) One of my favorite places in Billings. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great steak.

Not super impressed. The most annoying thing to me was that a steak place in Montana should have a wide selection of steaks, right? Well, this was not the case. They had a big variety of foods. Oddest of all was that they had so many southern foods- gumbo, bbq shrimp... why? I got a "baseball" steak and it came as I ordered it- a plus! It literally was round however, which seemed weird. The salad was pretty bad- pale iceberg (and not really even crunchy), and my side of squash casserole was strange. It didn't taste like squash casseroles you find in the south at meat n' three places (which it's supposed to be like), but besides that it also just wasn't good. My friend had the cedar plank salmon, which she really liked. I thought it was ok, not great. Someone else had a hamburger, which was also fine. The fries were supposed to be beer battered or something, but they were 100% plain (not even salt). The service wasn't great, just ok. She wrote her name on the tablecloth (she was standing upside-down to it, which was impressive).

I really tried to like this place, but it is just average. I have had better steaks locally and service is hit or miss. Overall not worth the prices....

Bad on me for ordering seafood at a place called the rib and chop house. Bad on them that the "jamaican brown sugar" glaze on said seafood apparently consisted of water and brown sugar. I think this cedar grilled salmon was as bad a fish dish as I've ever had, and it came out literally on a burned plank of wood. By odd coincidence, our waitress was someone we knew so I can't really comment on the service, but from what she told us, the rib and chop house is the kind of place where the managers get mad at the waitresses for not writing their name in crayon on the paper tablecloths. So if you like that, and you like meat (or fish and chips; my mom's were great), and you have kids that you have to take out to dinner with you, it's probably a good place. Not sure why it's quite so popular though.

This place rocked. It was clean and the staff was super cool. I selected the steak sandwich for around 10 bucks. It came with a salad, awsome bun with a New York strip and added cheese and mushrooms. I was pleasantly suprised with the value etc. I would recomend this to anyone and will be visiting again soon.

Bad service and a management that does not care. I ordered a steak and after a very long wait, it finally arrived at the table where the waiter proceeded to drop the towel they use to clean the tables on my plate. He simply picked it up, brushed off my steak and placed it in front of me and left without saying a word. After complaining to the manager I was rewarded with a replacement steak in a speedy 40 minutes later. And you guessed it.. they still charged me full price. Besides that the food is mediocre at best. This place is all hype. Go elsewhere!

Always great food. Always have gotten the Jamaican glazed cedar plank salmon, but tried the pulled pork sandwich for the first time and it was great. Always great service and friendly atmosphere.

the food was absolutely delicious. I had the pork hop. it was so tender not to mention how large it was. my husband had the halibut stuffed with crab. he said it was wonderful. I had the squash casserole since many of the prior reviews raved about it....definitely wonderful choice.

For lunch I got the pork chop sandwich, chicken & veggie, rice soup. The soup was in a baby dish had good flavor but mostly broth maybe a strand or 3 of chicken and a carrot. Coffee isn't great. Service is nice but slow. Everyone is running around but nothing is getting done really. The porkchop sandwich is a tiny portion but had grilled onions and red peppers and a jalapeño sauce that worked well together. The kaiser bun was good and the porkchop ok. All in all not impressed. If you want a pork chop sandwich in billings go to pug mahons or fiddlers green. Same owner I think. For dinner the steaks are a solid 4 star! Ribeye baby!

First time to the establishment. Fabulous service at the front. Ordered this salad to-go (maybe because I didn't dine in) that didn't quite live up to the menu description. No cheese and about 1/3 of a chicken breast.

I always come here when in town visiting family. Rib & Chop came to Billings after I moved to California so it's always a treat to have when in town. It's very pricey however the meals are large and delicious. I'm a fan of the buffalo ribeye, medium. Their desserts are amazing. They have a fair selection of MT brewed beer and their margarita literally comes in a fish bowl. They are always packed since this is a popular Billings restaurant so be prepared to wait. And for those saying slow service - this is a sit-down, high class place. The wait is worth it. A+

Walked over from the nearby hotel after munching on a few appetizers there and ordered the hand cut rib-eye, medium rare with garlic mushrooms, and grilled onions. All I need to say is, it was awesome. Next time I'm here I will return. Everything else I saw also looked really good.

Our go to spot when we are craving a great steak. H, and I usually split the ribeye, and get an extra side. For an appetizer get the fried green tomatoes topped with lump crabmeat, yum. Sit at the bar, and have Amanda make you a delicious lemon drop martini, where she subs out the triple sec for St Germaine liquor. If she's not working I usually ask for a St Germaine lemon drop. Location right off of I90 if you are on the road.

Food: I got the rib eye and it was amazing. Cooked perfectly the steak had enough fat for flavor without being too much. The seasoning was not overpowering and not bland. The loaded potato was alright but nothing special. The salad was also pretty good but not otherworldly. My friends got the $12 steak and potatoes lunch special and they thought it was alright for a steak place. Service: the service was really good. Prompt and on time. Our server always made sure we were alright and even when my friend had his steak cooked a bit more, there wasn't any spite or shade thrown out way. Overall really good. Atmosphere: the atmosphere of the place was really good. The crowd seemed to be locals which is always a good sign. The music was great and the lively atmosphere was soothing. Overall: if I ever go by this place in Montana again I'd definitely try to hit this place up again. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that my friends didn't like their food in particular but that's what happens when they get the cheap stuff. Also it got to be kinda pricy.

We walked here from our hotel. Food was good. We sat at the bar & had dinner. The bartender was a little overwhelmed, so the manager (?) got our drinks after a little wait. Twice. Would definitely go here again.

Went here on our vacation a couple of weeks ago; and well worth the trip. I mean what would you expect in Montana? A bad steak meal? Oh hell no! I had a New York strip and it was amazing. My wife had the filet and it was like soft, brown butter. A great selection of local brews if you enjoy variety in your beer. I highly recommend the Salmon Fly Honey Rye. Great and friendly service, it's no wonder the line is out the door come supper time in Billings, MT. The Montana Rib & Chip House is the real deal for your red meat craving!

Here's the quick and dirty - food is..... 5 star meat and the rest is total garbage. Service is 5 star. Doug. He saved my dinner experience. Cool, calm, and collected. Knows the menu like the back of his hand. Real pro. He should really be working somewhere much fancier. LA/NYC would welcome him with open arms.

It has been too long since I've had this great of service. Excellent crabmeat mushrooms. Being from Louisiana, I found the gumbo great. But the ribeye stole the show. Waiting for my creme brulee for dessert.
