Ever since we saw "Restaurant Impossible" we've wanted to eat here. Well, tonight was our first opportunity and we are really glad we showed up. The ambience was outstanding, and the service was exceptional. Our waiter, Cody, was so attentive and did a great job. The food was phenomenal! Our steaks were so tender, juicy and flavorful, you could cut them with a fork. I would definitely return to Woody's!

Great restaurant...just a few blocks from the Holiday inn where we were staying. Husband had petite filet which was great...I had fried shrimp which was wonderful....even though we were stuffed we had the bananas foster, which is prepared table side.....WOW..we ate every single bite! All the staff is wonderful and even if they are not your waitperson.....they stop by and make sure you are happy with meal and if you need anything. Just wish it were closer to home...we would be going at least once a week!

ok here is the thing: i really want to tell you how horrible this place is so that when i go, i can still get a reservation. it is that good. best meal and service south of the mason-dixon line, and they dont care if you have insanely serious celiac disease! as a hardcore celiac, it was awesome to be able to have the option to eat almost everything on the menu. i cannot remember the last time i had such a good time out, and really, ok fine you must go. ask for cody, melissa (if those are wrong i will be so embarassed but i had a lot of wine, i admit) and feather was awesome about helping us spread the word to our airbnb guests, so that we can spread the word. all in all, woody's turned an otherwise horrible night in a new place to something we cannot wait to come back to! give everyone a raise who was there. (you know who you are) thank you so much!

We were the passing through and stopped in Tupelo for the night. The desk clerk suggested Woody's for dinner. Boy was she right! Our dinner was excellent. When we first walked in we were a little concerned because there was not anyone to seat us, but we were seated at a nice romantic table in the corner. Just what we were wanting. Our server was Teri and she was excellent. If we make it back by, we will ask for her. We passed on appetizers but enjoyed wine with the bread and house butter. For our entree, I had the balsamic glazed filet with baked potato and sautéed green beans. EXCELLENT. Cooked to perfection and very tender. My husband had the ribeye with peppercorn cognac sauce and the spinach sautéed with bacon and onions and the smokey Gouda Mac and cheese. He loved every bite of his meal. The only negative was the cut of the ribeye. It was quite thin for a nicer restaurant. For dessert, I had the death by chocolate. Wonderful! My husband had the Snickers ravioli. He thought it was wonderful. Overall, 5 stars! We will go back there if we have the opportunity!

Just visiting Tupelo for the first time and stopped in on a whim. So very glad I did! I started with crawfish poppers (since it is crawfish season, you know); then I had the smoked duck with risotto cakes, complete with their fresh French bread and house-made blackberry butter. I did everything short of lick the plates! Wait staff was very friendly and attentive. The old-style steakhouse atmosphere and the 70's ballad background music - along with an enjoyable meal - proved to be just what I needed to forget the worries of the day.

While they were out of a couple menu items I ordered the t bone steak. Was fine. Not the best steak ive ever had but some of the best Service ever. I hate having to ask for drink refills when it is so obvious. Our waitress was excellent and the manager checked on us a couple times. Excellent service. Food was good.

First off....If you are a vegan, vegetarian, or just don't like meat, bless your heart, then I would recommend Newks---who serves perhaps the freshest and most abundant salads in Tupelo. Now for my carnivore, meat loving brethren (Youre my boys)....From the minute we were seated and the waitress mentioned the words "Prime" and "Rib" when reading the specials my mind was made up. The special....Horseradish crusted Prime Rib. Is there a more perfect combo when talking about beef? Even Arbys gets those two right. So seeing Angus Prime Rib roasted in horseradish on the menu made my mouth water. And the perfect temperature to cook said beef? Medium Rare of course. And what to pair with that perfectly cooked hunk of rib roast? A Caesar salad and a loaded baked potato. The folks in the kitchen did their part to not disappoint, and the bliss of this combo sent me right back to 1995. Perfect comfort decision. The prime rib was cooked perfectly, juicy and well seasoned. No need for a knife at our table, as my steak only needed my fork. The homemade caesar dressing...Oh my yum! Creamy, tangy and if you happen to be part Dracula, I'm sorry but it was garlicky bliss. The romaine was crisp and the cheese was parmtastic. My only criticism, come on Woodys don't cheat me with premade croutons, because I happen to be a crouton snob. And the bread you brought us at the beginning would have been perfect in crouton form toasted in garlic butter. Although, the blackberry butter you served with said bread would have been enjoyable on my tennis shoes. Finally, the loaded potato was steaming hot, fluffy and light, buttery, creamy, and cheesy---the perfect steakhouse accompaniment. My fellow diners enjoyed juicy and tender filets, perfectly done on charcoal. The smell of the steaks on the grill permeates throughout the restaurant and makes your mouth water, as soon as it hits you in the face when you open your car door. My fellow diners enjoyed fresh salads also, sweet potatoes baked with cinnamon and brown sugar, fresh green beans sauteed with bacon and onions, and more. Great great meal. In northeastern Mississippi, Woodys is where you go if you want a good steak, unless you like one of those hipster cliche steaks with quinoa from a chain like the Applebees. Do your mouth a favor and don't trust your steak dinner to a redneck with a fake Aussie accent at the chain mate!

Just happened to pass this place on the way to the office and decided to have dinner here. Made an awesome decision! Had a steak w/ Mac and cheese and green beans. Although I didn't care for the Mac the green beans were good. The steak tho.... Whew! The steak was awesome and cooked to perfection. Even the bread they brought out with the blackberry butter was delectable (don't let anyone talk you out of this treat). If you are in tupelo an looking for a good steak, go somewhere else because here you will get a great one.

The food at Woody's was very good. In a town that always has a wait there wasn't on a Friday night. It cost around 20.00 a person and was a better choice for a date than a meal with small children.

Last night was my first time dinning at Woody's after a lot of contemplating. Having not seen many recent reviews of this restaurant I was skeptical about dining here, but my wife and I decided to give it a shot. I will let you know in this review about the decor, food, and my experience. Woody's atmosphere was incredible, as soon as we entered the building I felt comforted by the rustic feeling of old tupelo. We were promptly seated at a very comfortable booth in the dining area. The tables are set with fresh pepper grinders, salt, and a book containing their specials and a story of how Woody's began. The history of the building was marvelous, and Woody's has kept the building up very well. The lighting and atmosphere really make you comfortable and ready for a wonderful meal. For dinner me and my wife started our meal with the crawfish popper appetizer. The tails were crisp and obviously fresh, and the house made remoulade had a hint of horseradish but not to much. We followed the crawfish with oyster Rockefeller which were made with cheddar cheese, bacon, and spinach. The oysters were served with Louisiana hot sauce, crackers, and fresh horse radish. The oysters tasted wonderfully fresh. After oysters we were served bread and raspberry butter. The butter was amazing it tasted like eating biscuits and fresh jelly. After the bread my wife had Caesar salad, and I had a bowl of seafood gumbo. The salad was delicious the dressing was a homemade Cajun style dressing, and the soup was superb bursting with flavor and unlike the average gumbo, it had a generous amount of shrimp. For our entrée I had the Cajun ribeye with grits and homemade Gouda Mac and cheese and my wife had the ribeye with cognac peppercorn sauce and a baked potato. The Cajun ribeye was cooked to a perfect medium rare and was topped with crawfish cream sauce, fried crawfish, and crispy onions. The steak was wonderfully comparable to Texas de Brazil in Memphis, but the sauces are what put them over the top. The cognac peppercorn sauce was slightly sweet, smokey, and complimented the steak wonderfully. The baked potato was slightly undercooked but still tasted good. My steak was perfect and was tender enough to cut with my fork. The crawfish topping was amazing and tasted like a New Orleans steak with a little kick. The Gouda Mac and cheese were delicious and comforting although the grits were just average. For desert we shared the table side bananas foster. The preparation was enticing with flames reaching 3-4 foot high and really set the mood for our night out. The dessert itself was perfect the sauce was thick and tasted of cinnamon. The bananas were soft and the ice cream went well with the dish. My server was Amanda, and she was excellent. You can get fast service anywhere in today's fast paced society, but she was more than just fast. After explaining to her that it was our first time dining there I asked for recommendations. Amanda successfully guided me and my wife through each course of our meal and made sure to space out each item. I will definitely be asking for her when I return Overall woody's in my opinion was the best dinner I have had in this town having already been to every "up scale" restaurant in town. I will most definitely be returning and already have plans to have dinner here this Thursday night.

A must try! The service was fantastic. I wish I could recall my waiter's name as he was truly great. The food was cooked to perfection from the amazing fries mushroom appetizer to the angus steak. You'll likely not have room for dessert as the portions are rather large.

Unfortunately, I only get to Tupelo once per year but, I always make it a point to eat at Woody's. This year I had the quail. Prepared perfectly with a wonderful grits and fried corn bed. I've never been disappointed and the staff is always very nice. Great steaks and sandwiches too. Of course, the complimentary blackberry butter that is served with the bread is the best part of the meal!

This place is awesome! I travel a lot and places like this a refreshing. The wild game sampler and halibut Oscar were excellent. The dessert of banana foster and snickers ravioli were perfect ending. Thanks Rodney

Woody's was highly disappointing considering that it was the most expensive restaurant in town. For me, a good steak needs to be dry aged, broiled at a very high temperature, and cooked to a perfect medium rare. Woody's steak didn't satisfy any of the above criteria. I ordered a medium rare ribeye and it came out medium well. It is customary to wait for the guest to make the first cut on a steak and then ask if it is cooked to the right temperature. I was not asked about my steak and I also didn't want to send it back and wait for my entree. Fortunately, a well marbled ribeye still retains juice and flavor when it is overcooked. Husband got a medium rare filet with a side of lobster tail. The filet was cooked to the right temperature, but the lobster was bland and the texture was mushy, indicative of seafood being stored in the freezer for too long. The best part of the meal was the warm fresh bread at the start and the banana foster. The waitress couldn't get the flambe right, so she kept putting in more rum, and I am certainly not complaining about the extra rum on my dessert! The service was friendly, but lacked a level of professionalism that you usually expect from a restaurant of that price range. For example, we had to ask for water refills several times during the meal, the server forgot to bring out clean silverware with the dessert, and some of the dirty plates were not taken away before the dessert course.

Woody's gained celebrity status as a result of its recent TV appearance. Even before the show, however, Woody's was serving great food at affordable prices. That tradition continues. The salmon and halibut oscar are divine. Don't skip the house salad as a starter or the freshly-baked bread with fruit butter. The grilled asparagus is another of our favorites. Save room, too, for bananas foster for dessert! The wait staff is amazing. They are all knowledgeable about the menu and are eager to make substitutions to make your dining experience a good one. Stop by Woody's soon! Your first trip definitely won't be your last!

Excellent service, delicious food- which was perfectly prepared! I got the "home on the range" sampler and that was great to experience the bison, fillet and pork with super sides! My colleagues raved about their fillet medallion and sides too. Highly recommend the sampler salad, it also hit the mark. Liked it so much, we just ordered take out since we are covering a 3-11pm shift tonight and headed home in the morning!

This is a place that can go unnoticed from its outward appearence but in terms of Tupelo restaurants, just about as good as any. So far, everything we've eaten here has been great and their Sunday brunch is pretty good too. I prefer Woodys over Park Heights, the Grill, and even Harveys...although Harveys is really good too.
