When I first arrived at Hunan, I was greeted by a friendly host who promptly brought me to a table. From there, I quickly accessed the buffet and began piling-up my plate. They have all of your traditional Chinese-American favorites such as: General Tso, Sesame, Egg Roll, Spring Roll, Sweet & Sour, Cheese Rangoon, etc. For the size of the establishment, they actually have a rather impressive variety of foods including sushi, salads, and a gratuitous amount of frozen yogurt. I gave it three stars solely for the Frozen Yogurt. If that isn't your jam, it is a solid 2. Food: Unfortunately, despite the impressive spread, the food is average-at-best. In this particular case, most of it was below average because most of it had been sitting way...way...way too long under the heat lamps. This was extremely disappointing. The General Tso Chicken was rubbery and tough. A tell-tale sign of the meat spending too long in the warming tin. The egg rolls were not crispy, they were sort-of soggy / chewy (if that makes any sense). The highlight of the meal was the Chicken-on-a-stick. It had great flavor. Also, interestingly enough, one of my favorite things at this buffet were the corn nuggets -- something that obviously comes in a frozen bag. Other points about the food: The chicken wings were crispy and had nice flavor; but there still feathers (very small) coming from the skin. Meh, not a big deal as at least it could easily be identified as chicken; but it might be a good idea to inspect your food before it goes out. There were bottles of salad dressing on the buffet that were purchased from a grocery store. This is more tacky than anything, but still a reflection of the quality and state of the food they cook (mostly processed, pre-bought). The most exciting part of the meal was the vast Frozen Yogurt Bar. I mean, I have never seen anything like it before. They had Sea Salt Caramel and Pretzel Frozen Yogurt. **Confused Face**. Not sure why a Chinese Buffet has this, but it was good. From the 'Birthday Cake' flavor, to Cookies and Cream, to the convenient toppings that they had available for the yogurt, it made the fod experience one star better. Food: 3 / 5 (2 / 5 for everything + 1 Bonus Point for the Frozen Yogurt) Service: This was the high point of the whole meal. The service was prompt, courteous, and friendly. One guy was running all over the restaurant buss-ing tables and filling glasses. My glass never got more than half empty. That is impressive. Service: 4 / 5 Atmosphere: I am not sure if they are in the middle of remodeling, or what, but the back corner of the restaurant where a brand-new looking TV is wall mounted, is littered with junk. This kind of throws-off what is otherwise a nice restaurant. In addition, the store-bought salad dressing bottles just ruins it for me. Sigh... Atmosphere: 2 / 5 Price: Hmmm...for 10.55 I can't say that I got my money's worth. I mean, despite the very good Frozen Yogurt Bar, nothing else was worth the price of admission. Price: 2 / 5 Final Thoughts: I won't be back. If this is what 'good' Chinese food is in the Mid South, I would prefer never eat Chinese food again. Fortunately, we have an excellent Chinese take-out place not far from where we live in Oakland, TN. Honestly, if you are in the mood for mediocre (at best) Chinese food, but a pretty impressive frozen yogurt bar -- this is definitely the place for you! Otherwise, steer clear and go check out Panda China in Arlington, TN. It may be a haul for many of you; but absolutely worth it.

While I was visiting over the weekend prior to Thanksgiving, I picked up an old friend in the area and took him out to dinner here. I worked in the area years ago and always came here for lunch and really enjoyed it. Their buffet is really clean and well kept, and items don't sit around too long, so everything is always fresh and at the proper temperature. Service is great too. Never had to ask for a refill, as soon as the server saw our glasses getting low, he was there to refill. And not only did he keep us in refills, he had the decency to ask before refilling, not many servers do that, they just blindly pour more in your glass and go on about their business. I like the acknowledgement prior, makes me feel like they really care about your dining experience. Overall, this place has been here for years, and the price is well set for the selections they have. And confirmed, they DO NOT use MSG in ANYTHING, so go tie on your bib and click your chopsticks. This is probably the best buffet in the North MS area!

The food was gross. The green beans tasted like melted plastic or chemicals - maybe they just through the whole package, wrapping and all, into the pot and cooked it. I don't know. They had lots of mystery meats that tasted disgusting. The chicken entrees were overall very stringy, tough, and seemed to be several days old (i.e. this place definitely recycles yesterday's or last week's uneaten buffet items). All the food tasted alike. If it wasn't gross, it was bland, or cold, or a mixture of the three. Not good at all and I will not be back. I should have walked out after seeing that they hardly had any customers at the time a typical restaurant would be facing a lunch rush hour! For Asian fare, I would recommend the Sushi place nearby, Nagoya. It is excellent and no comparison.

Great food! I travel the country and this is one of the best Chinese Buffets around. Great chicken and steak selections and pretty cheap. 10.65 for a dinner buffet.

Went here with the family a few weeks ago. They had a great buffet selection, prices were reasonable, and the service was great. The place was very clean and the staff were very friendly and on top of things when it came to refilling our drinks and making sure we didn't need anything. They even asked us if we wanted anything else before they cleared the pans as we were there near closing times. Will definitely be dining here again in the future.

I enjoyed my lunch at Hunan. It is a great price for the lunch buffet, but I would have been disappointed had I payed the dinner price. I found a majority of the food to be a bit on the lukewarm side, not quite hot. They have a nice selection of food. I recommend the fried corn nuggets, crab puffs, and sesame chicken. They also have some pretty good ice cream soft-serve. Overall, Hunan is worth a visit, but I'm not dying to go back anytime soon. Service was good

For local Chinese this is it. I've been coming here for the last 10 years and still has most of the employees that were here then. Buffet is decent for a general buffet. Provides a little variety of everything. But if your will to call in a order that's the way to go. Fried rice is better than avg. among other fried rice places. Mongolian BBQ is top here. Ask for the crab with shrimp and chicken, spicy. You won't be disappointed!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
