Diabetics at Village Inn

Village Inn is a tough place for diabetics, and you must be extra cautious while ordering food at the Village Inn, especially if you're a diabetic. The food items low in sodium are high in sugar or cholesterol at Village Inn which makes it difficult for diabetics to choose the right food at the diner.

Foods to Avoid at Village Inn for Diabetics

Village Inn offers very few items edible for diabetics without any threat. You can avoid sandwiches and burgers at Village Inn and try the light breakfast items on the menu. You must also skip the shakes as well as other juices from the beverage menu. Almost all the dinner items on the menu are high in sodium except Grilled Tilapia and 6 oz. Top Sirloin & Toast. Avoid Soup bowls and opt for cups instead at Village Inn.

You know what? This buffet is much better than the buffets you will find in Vegas. I should know... I've eaten at 10 Vegas buffets. The Village Square Buffet is located inside the Horseshoe Casino. It's not the only dining option in the casino, but it's my favorite. I have eaten here for breakfast, lunch, dinner and brunch. I even prefer Village Square to Jack Benion's Steakhouse unless I'm feeling the need for white table cloths and a giant steak. But they have steak on the Buffet too. Maybe not the best cuts or the highest quality, but it's there. I'd pass on the steak though and get some pulled pork, roast beef, or baked chicken. Hell, get it all! Why not... it's a buffet! Themed stations offer a mind-boggling array of choices. How does one chose between Italian, Mexican, Asian, or American? I have no idea. Throw in a salad bar with soup and peel and eat shrimp and you're in for a real challenge! Just do what I do and get a little bit of everything. Try to save room for desert... I dare you! Extra info: Additional seafood on Fridays. Brunch on Saturday and Sunday.

Went here for lunch on Monday - thankfully for free. It is 1 of the better buffets in Tunica. They had just opened for the day and we encountered a few plates that were dirty in the stacks of clean plates. Asian bar had food that felt Asian authentic - especially the egg rolls and pork buns (in dim sum). Fried chicken was hot and good as well. Sausage had good kick and flavor - definitely should try. Desserts were average and made it bulk so no great quest to impress in this area.

I liked it! Granted, I was there on a Thursday evening, and it was not busy at all, but the seating was fast, the service was friendly and efficient, and the staff kept the buffet lines clean and fresh. Nearly all the food was well seasoned and not bland (like some buffets). I enjoyed all the selections that I made. Here are some highlights for me: - stir-fried green beans with garlic and the beef and mushrooms from the Asian area - choice of classic boiled shrimp or spicy boiled shrimp at the salad area - fried catfish with cornmeal in the breading - sinful pulled pork - lots of Southernn-style side dishes in both the home-cooking and the barbeque sections - wide selection of desserts, including Southern-style cookies and desserts (there were some praline-cookie bars that were amazing) - iced tea... perfectly brewed. I didn't even sample anything from the Mexican section or the Italian section... there were some pizza and pasta dishes that looked very tempting. It could be challenging to keep your gluttonly under control at this buffet.

Located in the horse shoe casino. Seafood buffet is on fridays for $28. 3 & younger is free. ok so i used to live in las vegas, so in my opinion las vegas is of course better since you can get lobsters and crabs over there. but hey you can't beat this place either for seafood. my family and friends and i pigged out. the snow crab legs were perfectly cooked and seasoned. so many different types of peel n eat shrimp. even spicy ones. oysters, clams, fried catfish, fried shrimp and so many other different types of food and desserts. you can go mexican, chinese, seafood etc. so much food to choose from. the first time we ate here there was lobster tails but this time there was none and only lobster claws. i was a little upset tho that they insist i pay the same price for my children ages 6, 9 and 12 since only my 2 year old was free. my kids can't even eat much...i mean how many kids can really eat $28 worth of food?? my son basically only wanted 1 slice of cheese pizza & a small bowl of ice cream and there was no way i was going to pay that much for him. they really need to discount the children's prices. it's ridiculous. plus one time my son already ate mcdonald's before we got there and they insisted that it was their policy that no one can't go in w/out paying. i mean he wasn't eating! bleh. rant over. the manager eventually decided to work w/ us but they really should figure something out to change the policy's. other than that, staff was wonderful...waiters were great...even the security guard in the front, i think his name was mr. rainey? he was really kind and sweet towards our kids. kept the kids occupied & even played w/ them while we waited in the front; away from the casino and all the smoke; while my husband gambled. oh by the way...be prepared to go home smelling like an ashtray. we all had to shower since the smoke on us was so strong. other than that we will definitely come back. i just hope the kids prices can be reduced since come on now, $28 for kids??? half of the time my kids don't even want to eat no matter what you put in front of them! ok i'm ranting again & starting to sound like a broken record so i'm going to stop here. i'm sure you get the point. haha. if you can eat a ton of seafood and don't mind all the smoke then it's definitely worth it. just don't bring kids.

This is the best buffet you will get to eat at in this little town. Coming from Vegas i did not have high expectations, especially with the price being $21 and some change on a weekday. Although all cuisines (Asian, Soulfood, Italian, American) had a good variety and very fresh to serve. Many desserts to choose from like pies, cakes, cobblers, and some truffles. From the looks of the Buffet compared to the casino, it looks as if the place had a nice renovation done. We didn't have a problem with service since there were only about 10 total parties eating that day. It was the first time ive seen assigned tables before thats for sure. Oh and try the dessert that looks like melted Oreos.. I forgot what its called but its definitely orgasmic! :D

Hubby and I ate here again while waiting for Rodney Carrington to start. The second time around we weren't as impressed, nor were we as fond of the price- $60 for both of us on a Friday night. They had a lot of seafood so if you like seafood you might enjoy it more than we did but for us it was just ok. They have six main restaurants inside: Good Fortune (Asian), Rio Grande (Mexican), Lil Italy, Home Cooking (Southern), Hickory Grill, and a Salad Bar in the middle. They also have a few dessert places such as an Ice Cream place and a general dessert place called Sweet Temptations. ~ Good Fortune + Loved - Chicken Siew Mai - Crab Rangoons - Lo Mein - Pork Dumplings - Rice Noodles + Ok: - Wonton Soup - Eggroll + Disliked - BBQ Pork Buns - Egg Drop Soup ________________ ~ Hickory Grill + Loved - Honey Baked Ham slices _________________ ~ Home Cooking + Loved - Cornbread - Fried Shrimp - Hushpuppies - Okra _______________ ~ Lil Italy + Loved - Pizza - Baked Zucchini + Disliked - rosemary potatoes (too salty) ________________ ~ Rio Grande + Loved - Crab Legs (Fridays- really good but not my thing) - Spicy Chicken _______________ ~Salad Bar + Loved - Fruit Salads - awesome in general ______________________ ~ Sweet Temptations + Loved - Chocolate Fudge Brownie - Coconut Ball + OK - Cheesecake - Chocolate Ball - Chocolate Cake

YUCK!! This place was overpriced with very low quality food. We arrived to the Gold Rush Casino late in the evening and didn't feel it would make sense to go far away to get food so we chose this buffet over the one in Gold Rush due to the better reviews. Honestly, it cost $21.95 Plus tip and tax and it was awful. The deserts were tossed by all of us, the Asian food was inedible, everything was pretty cold and old. The breads were all hard. All I can say is, save yourselves the money and go to the food court in the Gold Rush if you cannot get somewhere else. Don't give these people your business, they are literally robbing customers with their crazy prices and awful quality.

Very disappointed during this visit as we have experienced better in past visits. The selection was average for casino buffets. The Italian was cold and tasteless except for the sausae and green peppers. The Asian was fine except there were no traditional dishes it was chicken wings and several items with heads still attached. The southern was standard fried and once again too many items with heads attached (crawfish etc.), Shrimp was over-cooked and chewy. Lastly the desserts were terible this time, the cakes were stale, the cobbler had a funny chemical taste and the cheesecake was runny? The small cheesecake item was ok. Overall very disappointed as I can go to Golden Corral at half the price.

About every Thanksgiving, I usually treat myself to a hearty meal at a buffet in one of the casinos in Tunica, Mississippi. Most of the time, I prefer to go to the Village Square Buffet in the Horseshoe Casino that literally has something for everyone. The buffet consists of a dining area that is the size of a basketball court and several unique serving stations, with names like Good Fortune, Home Cookin', Hickory Grill, Rio Grill and Little Italy. Unlike some buffets that tries to offer a variety of foods within one serving line, a person who's in the mood for Chinese can go to the "Good Fortune" serving line and get a full menu of Chinese (and other Asian) food items, while a dining companion can walk over to the "Home Cookin'" station to get a nice Southern plate of fried chicken and collard greens. Personally, I like the "Hickory Grill" serving station the best because it serves up some quality meats, including a pretty good prime rib that's cut to order (I believe the meat is cooked "medium"). Also, as far as vegetables go, I highly recommend the spinach served from the "Little Italy" serving station, for it has a rich buttery taste that is incredible. Regardless of preference, all of the food served is of very good quality that is better than many other buffets that I've been to. To get the best experience, I always get a little of everything, including something from Village Square's enormous salad bar that includes crawfish and shrimp. Now if I haven't totally stuffed myself silly, I might get dessert from the buffet's bakery that offers a wide variety of cakes and pies that are superbly made. In all, the Village Square Buffet is an eater's (although not necessarily a foodie's) paradise. It is a great place to take a family to, where everyone can get what they want. For anyone deciding to go to Village Square Buffet during Thanksgiving or any other holiday, be advised that there could (and probably) will be a wait time before getting to enter the buffet. But believe me when I tell you that the wait is worth it.

We go to this buffet a few times a month. There is so much to choose from, that everyone should be happy. The prime rib is cut to order, and pretty good. On fri and sat, seafood nights. Also, really good Pho soup in the chinese section. The bowl is huge! And of course all the home made comfort food. It's one of the better, freshest buffets around.

This was the first Tunica casino buffet I tried based on my family's recommendation that it was the best in the area... They were wrong. This buffet was unimpressive, and when I was done stuffing myself silly so at least I would feel I had gotten my money's worth, I left very disappointed. They have five different 'themed' sections: Asian, Mexican, Italian, grill items, and Southern cooking. There's also a dessert bar in the middle. Yes, there is a large variety here, but it's all pretty bland and oily. For the $17/person dinner price, I'd much rather go to a chain, sit-down restaurant.

I am in no way a buffet eater or expert on buffets but i went to Tunica with a friend a few weeks ago and we ate here twice. This buffet is at the horseshoe casino. This is one of the best buffets i have ever had. They had so many different types of food to choose from like country cooking, mexican, chinese, a big meat ailse and a huge salad bar and everything i tried was absolutely delicious. My favaorite was the spicy beef on the mexican bar. Thier country buffet was awesome too with wonderful mashed potatoes. The polish sausage on the meat buffet is a must try....spicy and very salty and the meat dumplings on the chinese side are out of this world. The salad bar had piles and piles of crawfish which i didnt try and now regret. Everthing tasted fresh and just made...not like it was seating under some heatlamp for the past few days. I would not hesitate on going back here if i ever decide to go back to Tunica on a gambling trip again.
