For Old Timers, I think I have to put this place in perspective of where it is along with how I'd rate the food. Hwy 49 doesn't have many good BBQ spots, but I'd say this is as good as you will find without going into Jackson. This isn't BBQ you would find at Leatha's in Hattiesburg or other joints in Memphis or St. Louis for the rest of the well traveled. So in that light, I'd give Old Timers 3 stars. I had the pork plate w beans and slaw. As for the pork you can see the smoke ring, great sign, but unfortunately its shaved, and not pulled pork. It makes a lot of difference in the taste and I think they lose a lot of flavor doing it that way. The beans were nothing special nor was the slaw, so those are just average. It does come with a toasted/buttered bun which was a good plus for me. But, If I were to rate this any other place, 2 stars tops. In a pinch this place will do.

Traveling through Jackson an saw lots of smoke coming from the smoke house an the parking lot packed. Stopped by an got some BBQ Pork, It was very good along with the baked beans. Stopped by on our way from Texas to Florida. An then stopped by again 12 days later on our way back. Rating: 1-5 Food: 5 Price: Good Food Portion: Good Cleanliness : 5 Next time I'm traveling through Jackson ill stop by both way.

I stopped by this place for lunch on a business trip to Jackson. This place is certainly the definition of hole in the wall. Its a very old building, but surprisingly clean inside. I picked up a BBQ pork sandwich with beans. It was shaved pork, which is not what I'm used to, but it was still pretty good. The BBQ sauce that they make is good, a bit vinegary though. It was definitely good enough to fix my craving for home style 'cue.

Unfriendly staff and the sandwich has progressively gotten smaller to the point it's almost all bun.....not going back - and guess what!! Their attitude - "I could care less".

We stopped by Old Timers on our way to Jackson from Hattiesburg. From the outside it certainly looks authentic...unfortunately it all ends there. The place is run by a nice Greek guy...now, I'm Greek so I can say this, but what does a Greek guy in Richland, MS know about BBQ? Not much as it turns out. The three of us all agreed that the BBQ was poor across the board (pork and chicken) and the baked beans were no better than Bushes baked beans right out of the can. Sorry my Greek brethren but I won't be back.
