Wait. What? A buffet and I'm rating it 5 stars? Let's back up here for just a moment. I hate buffets. Hate is probably not even strong enough. Despise. Loathe. Abhor buffets. They've never been any good and people breathing on, coughing near or even looking at my food just plain grosses me out. And to add insult to injury, the food is usually bland. Moving forward... This place has turned me around. Where to start? Boiled shrimp, crabs, potatoes. Fried shrimp, chicken, stuffed shrimp. Salad bar? Yes, that too. Baked mac n cheese and fish? Yep. Everything is great and seasoned *just* right. The potato salad here is absoluly perfect and trust me, I'm a huge judge of potato salad. This one is the best I've had since my grandmother's. It was one of those nights where we weren't sure where to eat and just ended up here but I can promise you it will be on the regular rotation now.

I must give a shout out to Terry Wall and the staff at the Picayune Domino's for their service today. They were slammed because of all the orders for the 2 fallen Hattiesburg officers but managed to get the orders out to everyone. You rocked it guys!

The best darn meatloaf I've ever had. Better than my mothers. Shhhh. Don't tell! Their lunch specials are very reasonably priced and you will prob have to take a to go box. I love this little diner. You will see all the locals while you're there.
What do you get when you cross a classic, dingy diner with a staff that works their butt off to make a solid meal and connect with their clientele? It may be in Picayune, Mississippi. As I surveyed the trucks, Cadillacs, and clunkers in the gravel lot, I thought it's on. Daily specials include mamma's meatloaf, a hickory cheddar burger, and a summer salad with cranberries and almonds. The bizarre decor and artwork tossed me into the past - eating home cookin' in a small town in Colorado as a 6-7 year old with my family. The $8 burger floored me. Just wish it was a little cleaner inside, but hell, that may be part of the experience.
In another note, their menu is not too low fat or low carb but they will accommodate you on your dietary needs. All you have to do is ask. I've been staying away from whit pasta, potatoes, breads, etc. and asked if they had brown rice. The answer was no but they offered a plate of steamed vegetables

Great little family run business! The food is great and the staff is friendly! I have lunch at Stonewall's at least twice a month.
Love this BBQ. Buy the family meal on Friday and have left overs for Saturday. Eat here at least 1x a month.
Their food is great! I love the pulled pork sandwich, potato casserole and bread pudding. Their only problem is not being open every day! I always end up wanting it when they aren't open.

What a treat in "Da Yune" These donuts are made fresh daily. On my first visit, I went through the drive thru. I got a dozen of donuts, and let the staff choose the variety. A dozen of donuts will cost $8.25, tax included. If your ever in Picayune, stop by. You won't be disappointed!

WOW! Well I don't know what I was expecting but this is as "No Frills" as it comes! A simple little place with some great Po' Boys. The locals seem to be on the fence about sleeves on their shirts, but hell its a come one come all kinda place. Not going to be a destination or many but if you happen to be in town grab a Po' boy.
The roast beef poboy is to die for.. Just make sure you have a lot of napkins as it is MESSY. Just like we like them in the south.
I had the shrimp Po Boy! It was really good! My husband had the roast beef po Boy and it was melt in your mouth. The juices just soaked in the bread and its a real good pricing!

Cuevas’s Fish House

2508 Highway 43 S
Picayune, 39466
Reviews:
I have been visiting this place for about as long as I can remember. It is right up there on the list of places I bring foreign friends. The gumbo is mediocre. Don't order it if you want a real representation of gumbo. I will send you up the road to my mama's house. The all you can eat catfish, hushpuppies, fries, and slaw, coupled with a true sweet tea provide a good example of southern cuisine at its best. My grandparents swore by this place, and my son eats here. I consider it a part of my heritage. The hushpuppies are sweet, melt-in-your-mouth balls of heavenly delight. I judge all my hushpuppies by Cuevas' standards. When I was a child, Mr. Cuevas used to pass by all the tables and make sure you were ok. He set a great example for southern hospitality and genuine interest in the satisfaction of his customers. Perhaps I am biased by his business technique....but Cuevas' hits the spot for southern fried catfish and comfort. I should also note that this refers to the Purvis location. Thanks.
From the outside it looks like a major hole-in-the- wall kinda place. It is.... Picnic style seating in open room, with two much smaller areas to the side. Food was good. Extremely fried- down to the pickles. Portions were large enough to feed people who actually want to eat. Down fall is that they only accept cash or personal checks. Who carried checks anymore? I had to go down the road to find an ATM. Another thing is the smell from outside. Not pleasant at all. People from this area love this place. I personally, only stopped as I was passing though.
Drove all over looking for great fish after leaving my moms heading home to New Orleans. After finding the place it was dark with a sign saying only open Thursday, Friday & Saturday 11am to 9pm so oh well I guess we'll try Fatties, since the reviews seem to be pretty good. NOPE!!! It ain't there no more... WTH??? Somebody just don't want us eating fish today or something... Dang it!
