We spent 2 nights here and wish our stay had been longer. Hospitality was gracious, surroundings superb and it was great to have breakfast at a B&B prepared by an obviously talented chef. Only sorry that our schedule did not permit being there to have dinner. All of this is only 30 minutes from downtown Memphis. Having travelled in about 40 countries world wide, this certainly makes our "top ten" list.

My BF and I stayed at Bonne Terre for the 4th of July weekend. Emily was so accommodating and welcoming. Even though she had given her staff the holiday off, she was constantly there for us. She made breakfast for us every morning and made sure we were comfortable in our beautiful room. When our thermostat in our room wasn't working well, she had it replaced while we were out on the town! Now, that's service! Breakfast every morning was very filling and tasty and the dinner at the cafe on our last night there was outstanding. We had such a wonderful stay at Bonne Terre. We would definitely recommend to our friends and we would love to go back if we have the opportunity to be in that area again. Thank you, Emily, for such a great stay!

My wife and I have been extremely busy this summer so on a whim, we made a last minute decision to try Bonne Terre for an easy quick relaxing getaway. Our experience exceeded my expectations. Sounds cliché but this place is a truly hidden gem. We spent most of the hot afternoon in their amazingly cool salt water pool and never saw another soul. After showers we dressed up and had cocktails in their cafe, followed by a delicious dinner. The cafe setting overlooking a beautiful lake with nice background music was soothing and romantic. The kitchen is open so it was entertaining to watch the chef (by himself!) prepare everyone's meals. The menu and wine list is simple and all our courses were prepared perfectly. No car ride home as our room was just a short stroll. Our room was very quiet, with a super comfortable bed, and great A.C. The next morning we ended our stay with a delicious home style breakfast in the cafe. Love this place!

I got engaged at Bonne Terre in 2007, and when they closed, my husband and I were so sad because we weren't able to go back on our anniversary to celebrate! But now they're back open under new owners, so we are happy to be able to go back to the Chestnut room every April now. It is such a beautiful property, and I think most of the rooms have private balconies--at least ours did. The food is amazing and has a really nice presentation (I've been back for dinner since the new owners took over) and the whole place is just tranquil and peaceful. They do dinner Wednesday through Saturday, plus have the inn where guests can stay of course, and also have a really cute, quaint wedding chapel and reception hall.

I have never been treated so poorly for the amount they charge for a room. I was a bridesmaid in a wedding there. When we checked in the woman charged the credit card and sent us on our way... wait, no key. No big deal, right? Well, we got settled and wanted to send the bride a bottle of wine, called the front desk... no answer. Not out of the ordinary seeing the property is small and they were probably just checking in another guest. Nope. I called the front desk probably 10 times in the 2 days we were there to ask questions like "what time is breakfast?" (a detail we were not made aware of upon check in) and never did anyone answer. Oh, just so you know it is only from 8-9:30 with no exceptions. I finally, on the day of the wedding, walked into the office and was treated as an inconvenience and disturbance. I just wanted to pay triple for 2 bottles of wine for the bride and attendants due to the fact that they do not allow adult beverages from outside the establishment. It took her an hour to prepare and deliver those 2 bottles, by the way. The evening of the wedding the staff practically took plates and drinks out of the guests hands with the explanation of "clearing". The rooms were outdated and cheesy. There was no cooperation from the staff except for 2 employees who were helpful like sending some food to go for some of the wedding party who were too busy chatting to eat, and if you've been in a wedding this happens very easily. Long story, I know, but if you'd like to be married here, think twice. Overpriced with poor customer service...there are other places, I'm sure.
