In town for business and found this hidden gem. My boss stated the cream of clam soup was delicious as was the filet. The medallions was tender and very flavorful and the glaze was like icing on a cake. Great service too. Will definitely visit again if business brings me here in the future!

Do not go here if you have food Allergies. The management and staff are not understanding. After church we decided to venture out into Madison to eat lunch from a local place, Strawberry Cafe. We were asked to leave because we brought lunch for our son who is anaphylactic to all dairy products. We have to do this because his allergy is so bad that he cannot eat out anywhere. The slightest contact with dairy is life threatening. We brought his food with us his entire life, and we have never had a problem except here. There only concern is making money. Because I could not purchase a plate for my son, we had to leave. We will NEVER go back there. I tried to explain, but it was not their concern. We left humiliated and my son was devastated by being singled out for his food allergies. Hopefully that lovely person will never have to encounter food allergies and have to witness their child gasping for air because his airway has begun to close up. Hopefully that lovely person will never have to administer an Epi pen to their child when he can't breath and his whole body has begun to swell twice his size.

Strawberry Cafe is a sweet little restaurant located beside the tracks in Madison, MS. It is a little hard to find in my opinion, as it almost hides behind Persnickety Kitchen, but you can see the green sign from the road with a sharp eye. Service was average. My bf and I felt like the waitress was really heavy-handed and slammed our glass cups down on the table every time she refilled our sweet tea (uh, did I order the wrong drink??), but she was pleasant enough. Food was bleh. Average. Nothing to call home about, but it wasn't revolting either. Just.... Average. Kind of funny how the only two items on the menu that contained any strawberries at Strawberry Cafe was the cafe salad, which had a strawberry vinaigrette, and a strawberry cake for dessert. Maybe there's a secret strawberry menu that we didn't know about? Nonetheless, Poboys were just fine. Being as it is that stopped in for lunch, I was surprised that our meal (2 people) turned out to be close to $35. Granted, we did each got a Poboy and shared one appetizer. Still, after adding in a tip, I was surprised that a subpar lunch that lasted less than 1 hour cost me more than $40. Oh well.

It is so nice to go to a local joint that is truly fine and innovative dining. The service is ALWAYS good, they work hard and it shows. LOVE the quaint homey feel, and it's always very clean too.

I would give them a better review because the food is good but apparently they think that leaving fish and shrimp sitting on the counter for 45 minutes is a good idea. We ordered our meal to go while we were at work and when I went to pick it up after about 45 minutes it was sitting on the counter and she told me it had been sitting there the whole time which is f****** disgusting. Also my friend ordered at $12 piece of Mahi Mahi that ended up being smaller than a credit card and came with about 4 tiny slices of zucchini and a piece of bread

I am on a sammich safari to get a top ten list of sandwiches in the Jackson area to go with my burger list. The Train Car was on my list. "Po Boy" with shredded prime rib and shrimp. Sounded great but the execution was average at best. It was basically 1/2 a normal po-boy size, with non-toasted bread (pet peeve) and the contents were sparse. Good sandwich, but not going to be close to making the list. On the restaurant itself, lunch crowd was mostly women and the portion size is targeted at that from what I can see. I get it. I like the spot, I like vibe, just thought the food I ordered was average.

Cool place. If they have Lemon Fish, get it. Awesome fish. Service is great here. Usually not too busy. Great get away place for a romantic date. Met the owners. Nice folks. Good bar here, as well.

Classy place - Gundlach Bundschu and Stags Leap wine posters in the restroom. Strawberry paint on the walls. Pinot Gris with the strawberries in the salad is a perfect match. Sangiovese with the pork tenderlion. I didn't consider the Creole sauce until it was highly recommended and I was not disappointed that I listened. It was a little hard to find - it confused my GPS. But I was persistent and figured it out. Service was excellent. One of the waitresses started there in college and likes it enough to keep doing it even now that she's a teacher. Bit on the expensive side, but I needed the quality.

Pleasant surprise. With a name like Strawberry Cafe we didn't expect to have wild caught grouper smothered with crabmeat, great drinks, atmosphere and service. The cornbread dusted oysters were addictive. Desserts are homemade and coffee was hot and fresh. We left full, relaxed and happy. 5 stars all around.

One of the best places I have ever eaten. Classy, relaxing atmosphere with even better food. Only drawback is the price, however the food in my opinion quickly makes you forget about it. You have to try the fried green tomatoes.

Strawberry Cafe is located in a small building right across from the railroad tracks. If you're like me and often confused by the 'cafe' genre, this one is firmly on the restaurant end of the spectrum. It's cozy, personal, and small scale. It's classy without being uppity. The menu is what you'd expect of a nicer restaurant, with pork, steak, chicken, and a strong seafood offering. We started with crab cakes, fried green tomatoes, and crab dip. I then had the Cafe Salad, which includes spinach and a wonderful strawberry vinaigrette, and the pork tenderloin with the creole sauce. We finished with their unbelievable caramel pie. It tastes like caramel, but the filling is so smooth and topped with whipped cream, all on a thoroughly homemade crust. Based on my sampling, you really can't go wrong with this menu. This is a gem of Madison.

Went to the Strawberry Cafe last night for dinner. I really like the quaint feel of the place. The restaurant itself is an old house that I think used to be a stop for the railroad (I could be wrong). The inside is very nice, nothing too flashy, perhaps some would find it a little cramped but it wasn't packed when we went so it didn't bother me. They have a small bar inside if you're just looking for drinks. The wine and beer offerings aren't very extensive but the cocktails we had were great! I got the special (some kind of steak with bleu cheese) and my boyfriend got the filet, they were both outstanding. We shared the fried green tomatoes with lump crab meat as an appetizer - definitely some of the best I've ever had. Sadly we were too full to get dessert but it sounded amazing as well.

A truly exceptional restaurant with a chef who obviously cares about his food. Every time I've been here it has been top notch. Fresh ingredients and a list of specials daily truly worthy of consideration. The seafood is some of the freshest I've sampled in the tri county area and cooked to perfection. Entrées come with sweet potato fries, but, trust me, the homemade onion rings are an excellent substitute. My last visit included a shrimp and prosciutto poboy they featured a prosciutto that was fantastic and shrimp cooked to order. Likewise, the crab cake sandwich and the fact that the soft shelled crab has been unavailable' is simply further evidence that the chef does not skimp one bit. My high marks come quite seldom as anyone who knows me can attest, but this place hits on all cylinders. Prices range from the affordable $8 to the exceptional $15 lunch, but the ingredients more than justify the pricing. I look forward to making it out for dinner sometime to see how they handle the nighttime crowd. If lunch is any indication, it should definitely warrant high marks as well. Service is always exceptional as well; fast, friendly, and very attentive without bring overbearing. Great casual dining place with a 'not so casual' level of service and cooking that is definitely worth strong consideration. One of the best finds in the Madison area hands down.

Ate dinner here Monday evening with a business associate. Very cool place. Hidden away in Madison, Ms. Had a little difficulty finding it. Not much of a crowd on Monday evenings. Started with several glasses of the house Merlot. A nice way to end the work day. The special was a grilled flounder with a mushroom cream sauce. Very good! Sauteed veggies on the side with mashed potato's. Potato's were not very creamy, veggies were cooked perfectly. The flounder filet was great, the mushroom cream sauce was a great addition. My friend had a pasta dish, but I am avoiding carbs like they are poison. He is a regular at the Strawberry Cafe and said the pasta was his favorite dish. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful in explaining the menu. He recommended the desserts, telling us that they were homemade and very good. I had caramel pie and my friend had the strawberry cheesecake. The Strawberry Cafe is a great restaurant that I want to visit again. A great place for a romantic dinner with someone special.

Have been a regular for years and have always had a good experience. They do fish exceptionally well, although everything is top-notch. Try the Grouper served over Shitake mushrooms, with cream sauce and jumbo lump crab on top. Specials are outstanding. Sunday brunch is a fairly new addition and it has some very nice selections if you're looking for something nice (and maybe a Bloody Mary or Mimosa, too). Do yourself a favor and give it a try.

Great for a change. Took my wife for birthday dinner. 2nd time there since they went upscale. More like a bistro. Get the CARAMEL PIE !!

Had a business lunch here one time - food was okay. I wasn't impressed by the crawfish po-boy (it was a little dry), but the sweet potato fries were very good. The place was cute in the way that it was so tiny it felt like someone's living room. It's kept very clean and the servers were very friendly and helpful.

One of the best places to eat in central Mississippi. The owners are awesome and the staff is top notch. Good lunch place but better for dinner. Very small, cozy place with a great atmosphere. Specials change often and the chef has seasonal favorites. If the pork shanks are on the menu, get them! Do not be fooled by the name Strawberry Cafe. This is mr a cafe. Great place for a date.

I went here for the first time a couple of months ago and loved it. The restaurant is very cute and quaint. The crowd varied from older couples to younger professionals. I had the pecan beer, which I highly recommend, as well as the crawfish pasta dish! The staff was really friendly and helpful!

Good things still can come in small packages! The cafe is tiny, but has a growing family of regulars, so it can fill up quickly. You might call ahead. The grouper special is always good.
