This is our GO TO Mexican restaurant. We have been coming here for years. The food is always fresh and home made. It's a family run business, with Jaun and his brothers, always welcoming you like family. The La Parilla special is our favorite menu item! It's enough food for two, with left overs. It includes, grilled steak, chicken, shrimp, and Mexican bacon....mmm. With all the fixings! Give them a try and you will be hooked too!! Oh, and the huge shrimp cocktail is yummy as well. Happy hour specials too!

This is now our go-to Mexican restaurant in Hernando. The food is always good....you get big portions, and the food comes out quickly and piping hot. The white queso dip is great, and so are the fajitas! The staff is always super friendly to us.

The highlight of La Siesta is their service. Everytime you walk through the door, your greeted by smiling staff and a handshake. While that may not seem like a huge deal, when was the last time a restaurant owner shook your hand just for eating at their place? (Outside of this restaurant, it's been a while for me.) The food is good, but pretty similar to what you'd find at any of the other Mexican restaurants in DeSoto County. Nevertheless, the service is good enough to make this our first choice for Mexican in Hernando.

Pretty darn good nachos and cheap hooch. Not a bad combo. This is not authentic but more Americanized. Nothing to look at on the inside and definitely has a mom and pop vibe (which is a good thing in my book). The nachos had a good combination of meats, cheese, onions and mushrooms that were well cooked and well seasoned. I liked the food and people working enough that I will come back when in Hernando.

Have not been to this place in a while. The fajita nachos were really good and the chips, dip and salsa were good as well..service was great. I will be going back even though I am a fan of more authentic Mexican food.

My family and I have been coming here since they opened in 2005(I think?) and I'll be coming here until they close. Between the four of us, we've tried almost everything on the menu and we have yet to be disappointed. And their top shelf margaritas are to DIE for!

Without a doubt on of my favorite resturants. Service is superb, the food is allways excellent, and the beer is cold. Very friendly staff. Try the shrimp coctail, you will be impressed.

Great place for Mexican food. Don't see it on the menu or want it prepared differently? Just ask they will. Margaritas are the best around!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
