Best home style plate lunch in town. Chicken and dumplings, chicken and dressing, hamburger steak and gravy are just a few of the delicious items on the menu. The owners are very nice, good-hearted people. Service is fast and friendly.

BEST tamales ever. Cheaper than Doe's and much better. They use brisket and made fresh daily Tue-Sat. Worth the drive!!! Bringing a cooler back to fill up and take back home. They just need to know in advance.

Reviews:
I've been eating at El toro for years now. Out of everywhere I've traveled, El Toro is still my favorite Mexican restaurant. I always get the El Toro Combo (an enchilada, burrito, taco, chile relleno, rice and beans) and it's under $10. Absolutely delicious. The service is also always friendly and they get the food out quick. The only downside I can think of is I've had better margaritas.

Scoops Ice Cream and Grille

800 Mlk Blvd
Greenville, 38703
Reviews:
Scoops is one of the best kept secrets in Greenville. The food is homemade, fresh never frozen. The staff is awesome!! I really don't know where one reviewer actually ate(Hilary N), but it must not have been scoops!! Shout out to my girl, Shelby!! To generalize one night's experience, and direct it at someone, without speaking to the owner but blasting it on yelp - well I'd say you'd have to be an over exaggerator! By far, grateful owners, great workers and service! To find a restaurant in the Delta that has great food for lunch & add on entrees at supper and still a restaurant that is a great family atmosphere, Scoops is it!
I've been here for lunch several times. The food has always been good and the service was always friendly. The burgers and muffuletta are awesome and their reuben is amazing! I rarely eat ice cream, but they have a large selection to choose from.
Best kept secret in Greenville!!

This is not Mexican food......... Tamales are good! WIngs are good! I wish they had a place to sit down and eat, though.
Tamale Heaven was a pleasant surprise and a true hidden Gem in Greenville, Ms. Very flavorful with a little kick. Friendly and courteous staff. A definite place to visit if you're ever in town. Much continued success!

Great place Loved the food Cheap too
Heard ad on radio and decided to go on a whim. Hadn't been in many many year. Was not disappointed! Only complaint would be cost of alligator appetizer for amount we received. Menu stated 6 pieces and 5 of the 6 were like bite size. Other than that, all the food was fantastic! Had the alligator appetizer, shotgun nachos, and a rib eye special. Service & atmosphere was great as well! Wonderful night out!
Heaven on Earth. I was driving from Little Rock to Vicksburg and stopped here for lunch -- a plate of pulled pork, beans, hush puppies and a cold Bud long neck. All of it perfect. And for some stupid low price of $12. I tipped $5 on a $12 meal. Just lovely.

Shipley DO-Nuts of Mississippi

1401 Highway 1 S
Greenville, 38701
Reviews:
Oh how I love my Shipley's! My favorites are the hot glazed donuts and the lemon- filled donuts. This time I also tried the cherry-filled donut, but it did not hit the spot as my favorites did. I wanted to bring more donuts back home as there is not which a melt-in-your-mouth Shipley's near me. I was told that Shipley's is not open on Sundays.
I went there last Friday with my kids at 5:30 am after dropping my husband at the River Marathon. They were open already! yeay! The two ladies there were so friendly, so nice and so darn cute I wanted to buy more than the ones we were gonna eat after having breakfast, so I did get two more for my husband after his race. There was not so much to choose from and I suppose it was because of the hour, but with what they had we were happy. My kids of course went straight to the chocolate ones (with sprinkles and without) and I might say that chocolate on top was very good, really good flavor. I had the blueberry donuts for me and my husband and it was just right, not to sweet, perfect consistency. So yummy! On our way home I notice a Shipley's near Hernando at 302, so I guess I will have to try that place to see if they are as good as this one in Greenville. If that's the case I will be gaining weight because of this good donuts.
My girlfriend brought me some back from Mississippi and I liked them but not the best I ever had, but she said I have to eat them fresh to know how good they are.

Doe’s Eat Place

502 Nelson St
Greenville, 38701
Reviews:
Steak was good, not the best. Ordered the ribeye, granted it was huge it was tough. The Does eat place in Paducah is a lot better than this one. Still a good steak, and for the size the price was alright. Fries were good. Didn't get any appetizers or a salad. 3 beers, steak and fries ran about $65.00 before tip. Service was terrible but it was packed. Had to fetch my own drinks. Bad neighborhood, have a police office watching outside. It was worth the stop for the history and nostalgia, can check it off the list.
Finally!! Been coming to Greenville for years and never had a chance to dine at Doe's, until tonight. A security guard greeted us at the door. You walk right into the kitchen and see the steaks grilling. The interior is very authentic and unpretentious :) Seated immediately at the back at a table for ten although it was just the three of us. Don't expect fancy silverware or frilly glasses! The server explained there is no paper menu, she recited all the options by heart. Very impressive. She recommended sharing some of the bigger meat options and we went for it. As far as customer focus goes she's a ten plus. We started with six hot tamales with chili on top. And ordered the broiled half a dozen shrimp. Trust me order it with garlic bread. The broth is so good, lemony full of flavor. It's even better than the shrimp itself! We ordered the famous porterhouse T-bone steak to share. It came with a nice order of fries. It was huge and good!! This is what this place is about. So if you're looking for good food in a super casual setting. Bring some friends and your own wine and have fun!!!
Great Steak, served well made, good flavor...kinda pricey for the area.. and limited side items... BYOB ... BUT it IS a urban legendary eatery.... The Tamales were kinda greasy, BUT TOTAL COMFORT FOOD. A must try when in the Delta....

Gino’s Hamburgers & Catfish

128 W Reed Rd
Greenville, 38701
Reviews:
Growing up in Greenville, I guess I took Gino's for granted. Now I try to eat here when I return to Greenville. Burgers are great, catfish is great, everything is great. I prefer the #2 chili and slaw burger, but the catfish sandwich is a close second. Only downsize to me is that they serve Pepsi products.
Catfish sandwich is a must!!
Great classic diner food. We all got burgers and chicken sandwiches, which were all amazing. Their fries are good, and they have decent milkshakes. It's a great place to grab a quick bite. Also had a jukebox, so you can't go wrong. Seriously though, really enjoyed our meal there. The staff were really friendly too.

Sherman’s Restaurant

1400 S Main St
Greenville, 38701
Reviews:
After a meeting the other night, I was craving pasta HARDCORE. Being a (relatively) new resident in Greenville, one of the first places I thought of was Sherman's Restaurant. I'd heard great things over the years, so I decided to go in and have a nice, sit-down dinner. I ordered the Veal Parmesean with the Fettuccine Alfredo side and a side salad. The salad was great with the tasty blue cheese dressing. The veal was perfectly cooked and I was happy to notice that the breading was crispy and not oily. The fettuccine was a little bland, but it could have been a mistaste on my part, since sinus problems will mess with your tastebuds! :-) This place was packed! There is a very high turnover rate, so I felt a little rushed - being a solo diner in a crowded place tends to make you want to hurry along so that larger parties can have your table - and at $20, I wanted to enjoy everything. The next time I go to Sherman's I'll be sure to come with a group so that I can stay a little longer and try some of the fantastic-looking deserts I saw being carried out!
Five stars! Fresh everything! Homemade bread (biscuits), great homemade steak sauce, great fish, steak, and shish ka bobs! Everything melted in our mouths, a true southern eatery! We even tried the coconut pie (made fresh today)! An institution you must check out! :)
Decent local place. A little pricey, bit not much else in Greenville,MS. Bread pudding is great.
