this restaurant taste like legit poopoo. the waiters sucked and our waitress tried to make us buy something more expensive saying that it was the same price. would not recommend this place if u are in madison el ranchito is the better pick!

Food here usually is good. However, tonight it was terribly salty. This along with the very annoying group of 14 who were overly loud. More so than my old high school lunch room was back in the day. Made this a very unenjoyable experience. Again normally the food here is good and the restaurant is fine. But, after tonight I don't think I'll be back unless they look slow that day. Please note by good I mean standard Mexican fare nothing spectacular.

I ate here on a Monday night with a party of 7. Restaurant was not busy. Appetizers were good although there was much confusion on the waitress' part--she was not familiar with the menu so ordering was very difficult. Then the service went from bad to worse. We had to ask to order our entrees after 45 min had passed, had to point at the menu since the waitress had no idea what was happening, would ask for chicken and then hear the waitress say "OK, steak." It felt like a prank TV show. The food delivered to our table had a variety of issues--some wrong orders of course, most was ice-cold (cold fajitas!), and one very over-cooked dish with extra cheese when the order specifically asked for none. The tostaguac should be renamed tostaglop, btw. The owner did try to remedy things but it was too little, too late. I won't return.

I still love Papito's after eating there countless times. The other Garcia locations are good as well! I will say that lately the servers do seem a little more unprofessional with how they carry themselves. Slower to come back and clean empty tables, etc. Most are young, if that's a valid defense. I have had a couple of servers who seem out of it and/or have problems understanding English. I love Eduardo though. Always very sweet and smiling. Never gone too long. Order the fajita nachos!

This used to be the best Mexican in town. I ordered steak fajitas. The steak was overcooked and crunchy. The tortillas were tough when they got cold. I asked for extra sour cream and didn't get it. We didn't see our waitress again until we were almost finished eating. Somehow this place is packed. Must be the location...

I've had some pretty bad Mexican, but this is the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. It took a long time for my server just to bring me my iced tea before my meal came out. When my meal finally arrived, the meat inside my taco was cold. Upon telling my waiter that the meat inside my taco was cold, the manager or owner came to my table and argued with me about how the taco meat wasn't cold and that I should just tell him if I didn't like it. So I proceeded to tell him how the meal in general was terribly bland and the chile poblano I ordered was mostly made up of the membrane with all of the seeds still attached and not edible. Will not go back or recommend this restaurant to anyone.

First visit tonight. I wasn't impressed by them seating us in the bar area. The noise from the frozen drink machines was overbearing. We found the menu to be confusing with different prices for the same items. We ordered queso dip and it came out almost cold. We sent it back and it quickly came out nice and hot. After all that, the food was a pleasant surprise. The (pork) tamales were awesome. The chicken enchilada was very tasty as well as the chicken taco, which was loaded with cheese and lettuce. I ordered the Fiesta dinner which was a great value and lots of food and a great way to try all the normal mexican foods. The chalupa was too spicy for me. Not sure why. It was ok but am anxious to try other Mexican food in the area.

The service was a little slow, but the food was superb. The enchiladas verdes were wonderful.

This use to be my favorite place for mexican out in the Flowood area, but I'm not so sure now. The last two visits haven't been up to par, and Sunday definitely wasn't. The restaurant was nice and clean, but the hot sauce had a just a few drops in the bottom of the bottle, the splenda packets were stuck together, the seasoning for the chips was all clogged up and our food was not great. My chicken burrito was dry and the tortilla was chewy - I actually had to use a knife on a burrito! And my beef tostada had about 4 tablespoons of beef with 3 cups of lettuce on top.

First let me start off and say first impressions are everything. We have been here before and it was mediocre. We ate this time and it was terrible. We sat outside and it was in terrible conditions, the seat cushions were stained and the tables were in poor shape. The salt shaker had dark brown salt in it like it had water sitting in it. The food and service were both bad. The food was poorly seasoned and the service was slow and lacking. The other employees were on cellphones and smoking outside near people eating. Over all bad experience.

One star is generous. I ordered the veggie fajitas and a glass of red Zinfandel. The wine took about 10 minutes to get to me and was clearly a blush. I offered to pay in case it was my mistake (which they clearly took me up on) and ordered a cab. The cab took another ten minutes to arrive. The fajitas dish was described to come with guacamole but when it arrived it amounted to about 2 teaspoons worth. When I asked for more I was charged 5 dollars. The veggies were way over salted (and I like salt). I was doing some work at the table so when I was finished with my meal I cleared my dish to the side. It took the waiter another 10 minutes to clear them. Mind you it was 5:30, the place was not busy. It what became an ongoing theme, I had to pull someone other than my waiter aside and ask for my check, I put my credit card out and you got it another 10 minutes before I had to get up and walk the check to the front myself. Horrible service. Horrible food. I will not be returning.

Used to be my favorite Mexican restaurant, but service has gone to crap lately, food is hit or miss. Last time we went was especially bad. The waiter would disappear for 10 minutes at a time and when he'd show up he'd stay long enough to drop off what he brought but would immediately turn and leave and ignore us. I will most likely be going to another Mexican restaurant down the street from now on.

Have been frequenting the other Mexican restaurants in the area and just gave this one a shot. Enjoyed the food and the atmosphere! We will be back!

The only reason I am giving them 1 star is because I really like their fajita taco salad. Everytime my husband and I have eaten there, the service was disappointing at best. We could barely hold thier attention while ordering or asking for refills or napkins. The last time we went, the waiter was rude and disgusting. He would scratch and rub his armpits while watching the tv on the dining room floor instead of doing his job. When a woman in our party asked for her ticket and a box early because she has to go to work, he said just a moment. He the proceeded to watch tv while scratching his pit and then he served other tables. We asked him agian for the ticket after a few minutes and he said in a moment again. We said no we need it now she had to leave. He glared at us while walking away. We told her to just leave and we would take care of it. As she got up to leave, then he decided to bring he ticket and box. We went to the hostess to pay. I told her the waiter we had was lacsidasical and rude. She was very nice and apologetic. I walked to the door and waited on my husband. I turned back toward the hostess stand and my waiter had walked up and was talking to her. I figured he was asking if we said anything negative. My husband asked her and she said he asked about his tip, which we did give him some even though we didn't think he deserved any. We were furious and asked for the manager. While we told him what had happened, he didn't seem to really care. He had no people skills at all for a manager and was not apologetic in the slightest. We will never come back to this restaurant ever. Pity the food was decent.

Have been back a couple of times since my first review and the food is pretty good for the price. The waiters need to move a little but quicker and be around more. Having to flag down a waiter to get something is not a good thing to have to do. But for the price the food is good.

I really enjoy this place. I've brought the family here several times and have work lunches here occasionally. The wait staff , while not overly friendly, are mad efficient. They always seem to know what I want before I ask for it. If they didn't, how do they get a Chimichanga to my table in under 5 minutes?! Mexican food magic! The salsa is a little on the runny side with no real big chunks of 'mater but there is plenty of cilantro. That always makes things better. Side Ramble: When I was younger I remember chimichangas being these massive fried burritos with cheese, guac, and sour cream piled high like a huge two masted ship floating in a sea of beans off the coast of a little rice mountain. Lately though most Mexican joints serve flauta sized chimis. Little canoe on an ocean of bland beans next to a desert of dry rice. /Side Ramble The chimichangas here are a very nice size. Long story, short point. The restaurant is nice and clean. Well, actually it's dark so it might be dirty as hell. I prefer blissful ignorance on this point. I did notice the last time I was there my coworker got fajitas and his tortillas were definitely not fresh out of that cool tortilla making machine they have. Hence the 4 and not 5 star. Normally one minor would not incur a whole star deduction but it's Mexican. Tortillas. You gotta do that right.

It's sad when a favorite restaurant starts to go down hill. It was so bad tonight from the service to the time it took for our nasty did to hit the table we asked if it was under new ownership-yes. The new way is NOT good. Unless they step it up, I wouldn't bother with eating here!

The restaurant was really cool. When we walked in we were greeted and then we were seated. We both requested a booth as we both love booth tables. Our waiter was nice though he seemed a little off; when we both ordered margaritas it took our waiter 10 mins to come back to tell us that they were out of blue and mango margaritas so then we ordered strawberry and peach instead. Our waiter also did buy my babe's Chicago bulls hat and he was happy about it. Our food did come fast, and it tasted really good. I am not sure how it arrived at our table so fast, but it did. The price for two combos were very affordable and for the amount of food you get. Our margaritas were tasty and didn't contain a lot of heavy alcohol. We will be back and we do recommend this place!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
