This is the best place for loaded fries I've ever been to. If you are concerned about the handful of negative reviews, read them... they gave the place a bad rating because they don't like the idea of fries as a meal. That's like going to a pizza place and rating it one star because you don't like the idea of pizza as a meal. The fries themselves are excellent, fresh cut, double fried deliciousness. They are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, making them great for toppings (and they hold them VERY well)! If it is your first time, do what I did and get the sampler. I tried the classic loaded, philly cheese steak, and the bbq pork fries. All three were excellent. I really liked the cheese sauce on the philly. My husband and I split this trio for lunch and did not finish all three so you won't leave hungry. The cheese sauces are excellent and if you are not a big cheese sauce person, don't fear. The sauces are high quality, house made, and not over powering or fake tasting in any way. I am normally not a big cheese sauce person (think Wendys baked potatoes -gross) but I love the cheese here! And are different kinds, so it's not all the same. I am not sure if they have any shredded options, but they do have fries that have other, non-cheese sauces. I found all other toppings to be of very good quality and well portioned. The different topping combinations available is impressive. It is hard to decide on just one! Tips: text the number on the counter for a free drink today and free fries in your bday, ask for a frequent fryer card and get 10% of your each purchase and free fries with 10 purchases.

As I promised the owner, while in Mississippi this week my co-foodie and I returned to Belgicans for another try! They have definitely worked out the kinks! The inside is bare bones, concrete floors, minimal decoration...actually pretty spot-on for a place where you are just getting good fries...who needs white tablecloths and fancy decorations when you are just going for fries? You want to be comfortable going in wearing shorts and a t-shirt. We were just going for a snack, not a meal. They have a fairly extensive menu (considering it is just fries!). Instead of the huge meal-sized fries, we decided to get just one large order of fries and two sauces for $4.89. (Prices ranged from 3.29 to 9.99). We chose bacon ranch and kickin' ketchup for our sauces. We got a huge order of fries that were perfectly cooked. Crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. A HUGE improvement over our initial visit! There were two of us sharing the order and we could not quite finish them (and we are not exactly small women). We also didn't use up all of our sauces. The kickin' ketchup sauce was good (but pretty darn hot!). It was ketchup with red chili flakes...sounds simple, but was good. The bacon ranch didn't have enough bacon, so it was ok, but not great. You get a choice of small or large drink cups...with free refills. The bathrooms were really clean also. I got a Barqs root beer, so I can't comment on the tea! The only reason why I didn't give a 5 was because of a couple of things...(1) we didn't have one of the main dishes so I could only review on a basic order, (2) one of the two sauces were just ok (but I will definitely try more of the sauces!), and (3) on this particular day, the staff was pretty invisible. The girl who greeted us couldn't answer any questions (for instance, I asked if the kickin' ketchup was really, really hot and she said "I dunno...I don't eat it."). Also, once she had taken our order, she disappeared into the back and just talked with the other girl (we had a straight line of sight from the front to the back) instead of cleaning up or anything like that (for instance, there were several fries littering the floor). BUT all in all...it was a very good experience and any time I am in town, I will visit again! Kudos!!

Was looking for a decent place for a dinner bite with a couple of friends. We tried Belgicans based in the decent Yelp reviews, but at the end of the day I wished I'd tried somewhere else. The service started off on a high note, with the cashier giving us a good explanation of the options available. I normally try to eat reasonably healthy, but I understand and embrace "when in Rome" -- when your at a place that specializes essentially in fries with two of your buddies, you look the other way and enjoy the junk food. But here the fries themselves weren't tasty, and the toppings were worse. I myself find it hard to imagine how anyone could mess up French fries (oops, ok, Belgian fries). Other Belgian fry places I've been to over the years have been even better than your typical French fries. Not this place. Five Guys, McDonalds - even Burger King has better fries. And probably a lot healthier to boot. Disappointed as we were with the food, the final stroke came when the manager came by our table and asked us to leave since they'd decided to close 90 minutes early. We were not half way through eating, it was raining outside and we were not offered go boxes. At that point I decided to just throw in the towel and we left without finishing the food. Whether you're looking for tasty junk food or something more substantial, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

My father lived in Holland and told me about these fries they had there that were fried twice and were to die for, so when I heard of Belgican's we were both excited to give them a try. For a place that serves fries with toppings and nothing else I would expect them to have some amazing fries, regardless of the toppings. That was not the case. Their fries were bland and the toppings didn't help them much. The service was ok, but you simply order fast food style. I hate healthy food, so this is right up my alley but the food definitely misses the mark.

My first visit and I will be back soon. We had the chilli fries and the BLT fries. Both were excellent. we each got small orders and there was plenty of food. The fries themselves were delicious. Next time I want to try fries and some dipping sauce. It was clean and the staff was friendly.

Tastey! Had the loaded fries; Fries were crispy and the combo is well made. I got the small but wish they would give a more fries for the money you pay. Not sure about the concept of fries for a meal but makes an excellent snack.

During our trip to Biloxi, MS we stumbled upon this awesome find. French fries topped with enough yummy goodness to make it a meal. I brought my hungry nephew and son at 830pm (they close at 9pm) after spending some time venturing out at the beach. We were hungry and they had their tummies set on Belgicans after we found it on Yelp. We opted for the small orders thinking I would end up getting more to eat afterwards. I tried the Country Fries- fries, ground beef, sauteed onions, mozzarella and gravy @ $5.99 My son tried the Nacho- fries, nacho cheese, beef and sour cream @ $4.99 and the nephew picked Pizza- fries, tomato sauce, mozzarella and pepperoni @ $4.99 After finishing a game on the arcade, they dove in. We all tried a bite of each others choices and were very happy. The fries that weren't smothered were delicious all alone. The owner was right! It was a meal. We all were satisfied and did not need to get more food. I'm glad we ordered smalls because the large may have left us too stuffed. The owner came out and we chatted about how much we loved the idea. (We have French Fry Heaven back home and Belgicans blows them away. FFH is more of a snack place. Nothing special just french fries and sauce and 50 cents more if you want to add a flavored salt. Overpriced.) She was super friendly and didn't mind that we stayed a little past closing time. I really hope they do well. Everyone should check them out. Much success to them. I never would have thought of this simple, yet filling idea for fries.

This place is just not for me I guess. Something about having french fries as your main course just doesn't sit right... No matter how much I like them they just don't cut it as a meal. As far as the toppings go I don't find anything they offer to be extremely exciting and I actually ended up disliking my last meal there so much that I had them replace it with just french fries and shredded cheese and a side of barbeque sauce because I was so unimpressed with what they gave me an originally. Drowning them in liquid cheese and some form of meat topping is not what I call a good meal.

Funky little place nestled by a movie theater, next to a frozen custard shop. Nice change of pace for a snack. Helpful staff, plenty of food on the tray, beer available to complete the carb-loading. Worth a try if you're in the neighborhood.

They say "Its not just fries, its a meal" they are NOT lying to you. The fries aren't a huge portion but they are twice fried starchy carbs that fill you up fast! With that said my husband and I came here for "dinner" one Friday night because my Brother in Law raved about them! Seating: There was lots of seating and the atmosphere was inviting and divey Service: The service was great, upon walking in we were greeted by all the workers and such a cute little man wearing a fry costume which brightened my night! The man behind the counter was super helpful and did a wonderful job of helping us decide on what to order Food: Country Fries & Philly Steak Fries Serving Portion: A good hefty size, since we got two, I went back and forth between both and i'm not sure there was any way I could finish an entire one serving on my own since it was so huge! Quality Country Fries: Gravy, beef, onions, mozzarella cheese I was pleasantly surprised with this order and really liked it. The fries on both orders were cooked wonderfully and had a good crunch and texture to them, not too soft but not overly cooked. The gravy was reminiscent of a good homestyle southern gravy that was just the right amount of sweet and salty. The onions were caramelized and melded great with the slight tang and salt of the cheese. Philly Steak Fries Steak, sautéed onions & peppers, philly sauce This was exactly like it sounds and it was cooked just the way we wanted it! The meat was a good portion and they did not hold back. The sauteed onions and peppers worked in great harmony and this is something we would come to share and order again and then maybe head to the movies after. Sad Note, they are a bit pricy but if you're looking for a change of pace and something interesting in D'iberville, check this place out!

Went back into this fine establishment 7 months after I first had the pleasure of eating here. Still top notch. Fresh fries topped with all types of creative goodness. Had the bacon cheeseburger fries. Yum!!!!! Friendly staff and friendly owner overall a great place. I will always stop here when I am in the Biloxi area.

My first time here was a pleasant one. A pretty simple menu, Fries..... It's basically the toppings you choose to put on top of the fries that you choose from. I had the barbecue fries with Nacho cheese on top. It was delicious. They have several toppings to choose from as well as plates made to order such as the barbecue fries or taco salad fries which is something I will probably get next time. The restaurant itself was very clean and neat. The drink set up almost reminded me of a Subway fast food type deal but it still works well. Plenty of tables to sit at. The staff was very helpful and friendly, and even brought the meal to the table. Not quite on the same level as fast food but definitely comfort food. Will keep this place in mind next time I'm hungry and have a few minutes to get something to eat, good experience all around.

  • Alex M.

I really wanted to dislike this place. Like, really. It just seemed horribly obnoxious, in that special southern way. You know what I mean: take an interesting concept that's been done well elsewhere, dumb it down and "americanize" it enough to be palatable to people who think the local St. Patrick's Day bar crawl is experiencing another culture, suck all the life and deliciousness out of it, and then microwave on high for 3 minutes. It wasn't. It was actually alright. Not the best Belgian fries I've had (Hello, Pommes Frites), and the combination of Mexican food and Belgian fries is weird and a little unsettling, but it's definitely edible, and surprisingly tasty. The fries were crispy and tasted relatively fresh, though it was clear they came out of a bag and were not actual fresh store-cut fries. Still, they weren't soggy, had a nice color, and didn't have that "I could possibly be made of plastic, and you wouldn't even know it" taste that a lot of fast food fries have. The other ingredients were similar: far from fresh, a long way from premium, but definitely passable. My main gripe would be with the cheese, which was basically melted american. The salsa was not great, either. The meat wasn't seasoned terribly well, but neither was it gross and gristly. The sauce/dip selection was terrible, though. I wish they had really gone full-out with the Mexican/Belgian fusion theme and given us some great fusion salsas and dips. Maybe a guacamole curry mayo, or a spicy Belgian gravy. I also wish they used real fresh-cut fries instead of the bagged variety. Potatoes are not that expensive, and cutting enough for the day can't take more than an hour or so with a fry slicer. Service was fast enough that waiting didn't feel like forever, but slow enough that the fries were probably cooked fresh and didn't come from under a heat lamp. The decor was typical southern strip-mall with some "art" on the walls that was clearly meant to be fancy but came across as done by a design-school drop out who had lost his creativity in a horrible accident involving midgets and grocery store shopping cart. The owner was working behind the counter, and seemed like a nice guy. I wouldn't drive out of my way to get fries here, but if you happen to be in the neighborhood, it's at least two steps up from a McDonald's or a Whataburger. And judging by the reaction of my 6 year old, this place is a major hit with kids.

Our 1st visit happened to be the day the debut their NEW menu :-) my sis had the Nacho Fries with Fajita Chicken, very well seasoned chicken and great toppings. I had the Loaded Fries which were delicious. My daughter ordered their brand new Chicken Caesar Salad which had bits of fries instead of croutons. She LOVED it!

Having grown up in The Netherlands I understand how fries are seen as a meal. There are many shops back there that sell fries together with all sorts of different deep fried snacks. I came across Belgicans when I was on my way to the movies. Stopped in where the owner explained the concept of Belgicans. It's fries with all sorts of different toppings. Besides the toppings they have many different sauces available that can be ordered with the fries. They have different weekly fries specials (Roast beef fries, Seafood fries, etc) and you can sign up for their service that allows you to receive coupons. All in all I'm hooked to their fries. It's a taste of home in a friendly atmosphere. Great fries, great service, great food. Thank you Belgicans for fulfilling my fries need.

Fries were amazing but the service was horrible! There was 3 workers but only 1 person making fries while we waited 20 min for our order at a slow time. The restaurant wasn't busy and it took them that long to make it. Very disappointed in how long it takes just to make fries.

We tried Belgican's because it sounded like something fun and different, and we love fries, but weren't very impressed. I found the owner to be a bit abrasive when my son was trying to explain to me that he wanted one of the dipping sauces ON his build-your-own creation (apparently that is STRICTLY prohibited -- insert eyeroll here). The portions were generous, but the toppings were lacking in flavor/seasoning. The sauces were good, but just your basic velveeta style melty cheese sauce. (I would have liked to try some of the other flavors, ahem, but since we went for dinner I didn't feel like getting a side of fries to go with our meal of fries.) The fries were ok, but I expected better since that's their specialty. Some were crispy and good, but others were tough and possibly undercooked? We won't be going back, and I probably wouldn't recommed it to anyone,

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.
