We arrived in Corinth with no pre planning on a road trip through the south. After obtaining a cheap room in town. We needed to find a place to eat dinner. We wanted to avoid the usual joints available so we decided to try Taylor's Escape. It was within walking distance east from our hotel, on 72. The restaurant itself is a non-discript building that seems to blend into the area along the road. You enter what seems like the side entrance into a large waiting area with pictures on the walls, benches and play toys for children. We were warmly greeted and instructed to sit anywhere we would like. This was dinner time and there were quite a few tables occupied. It was busy but not chaotic. The dining area looks like a dining hall or where a church pasta dinner would take place. Inviting and for some reason comforting. We were greeted by our server within a minute of sitting. He was a pleasant young man who was personable and attentive. We ordered right away. Drinks came very quickly. My traveling companion and I both got the regular size catfish platters( see pics). It came about 15 minutes later seriously hot and fresh. I loved every bit of it. It was a really good size meal for the 9.99 plus tax I paid( 10.89) well worth the wait and money paid. The hush puppies were delicious and the catfish was nice and crispy. Mac n' cheese like gramma makes. I recommend Taylor's if you are in the Cornith area. If you want a down home local place with delicious catfish go no further. The menu had many over dishes available. Kid/ family friendly. Attentive, Efficient, pleasant service. Tasty food in a down home atmosphere. No frills ,no gimmicks, no brick-brack crap on the walls.

This is another restaurant in town that seems to waiver with the quality of food. Like a texting driver, changing lanes, speed up, slow down, not paying attention. At a Christmas party you will get perfectly seasoned and ideally cooked beef tips. Then go back three months later, order the same thing, but is chewy and disappointing. Take a break from the beef tips and order a burger and it is very good. Go back, once again order beef tips and get beef tips smothered in gravy, even though you didn't order gravy. They offer a pretty good fish plate, but I do prefer the fish at yelp.com/biz/ramjets-iuk… The waitstaff are always smiling and friendly. It's just "iffy" on what quality the food item you get will be. Nothing has been inedible, just not always great. There is plenty of room for small groups and there is a good chance you will see a birthday party while you are in there in the late evening. The waitresses come out and sing to the birthday gal or guy. UPDATE...I'm not saying he was up to anything nefarious, but a couple weeks ago, I saw the owner of Taylor's eating lunch at Borroum's. Nothing wrong with that, but on Thursday, the day Borroum's serves their cornbread salad yelp.com/biz/borrums-dru… Taylor's Facebook page just started pushing a cornbread salad for Tuesday and Wednesday. I was curious, so I paid them a visit, just to try the salad. Of course, this being my first attempt at their version of cornbread salad I had a couple questions for the waitress. Does it have Pinto beans or something different? Does it have red tomatoes? Then she mentioned they have dumplings also. I am intrigued, but have to ask, are they thick and creamy or brothy? She was clueless, just knows she had some earlier and liked them a lot. I order the dumplings also. As soon as the waitress is out of earshot, my husband started in with, "now the beef used in my hamburger, was it a happy cow? Did it have friends and a peaceful life?". "The hamburger bun, did the worker that quality-checked them, were they from a nice neighborhood?". He mocks me but he just doesn't understand food association sometimes. The salad was OK, but wasn't enough to dethrone Borroum's. Taylor's did use dry pinto beans, but they were overcooked, to the point of being just hulls or skins. The cornbread was good (thank goodness it's not sweet). The ratio of ingredients needed tweaking, there wasn't enough bean juice for the amount of cornbread used. The bell pepper and onions are diced very tiny and are a little sparse on the use of the onion. The homemade dressing could have been doubled. The dumplings are the price of soup, ($3.00 range) and served in a large bowl. They are creamy and packed with chicken. A tweak is needed on the size of the dumplings, one is a mouthful, difficult to chew gracefully. There was nothing shy about the amount of chicken in this serving, at least one entire breast. The hamburger and fries that were ordered was disappointing. The fries were old and cold and the bun needed to be toasted. The burger itself had an intense chargrill to it. To Each Their Own.

Wednesdays must be the regular cooks night off here as I've eaten here twice on Wednesday and the food quality has been off. Most people come here for the fried catfish but they also have very good barbeque. I particularly like the barbeque beans and slaw. The barbeque was good last night but the beans were terrible, the slaw barely edible. Consistency is what separates good restaurants from bad. I hope they can get their act together so I can update my review in the future.

This on Highway 72 near 45 and it doesn't look like much when you go by it but the parking lot is packed for a reason because this place is great with the locals. I had the catfish fillets & my daughter had the BBQ sampler. We also had smoked chicken nachos. It was really good. The service was great and the place is quite big on the inside. Like most people in the south, everyone working here was really friendly. It's a very casual place decorated with local memorabilia. The building is very modest but the food is exceptional. My catfish was batter fried & real delicious. My daughters pork platter was great also. I really liked their BBQ sauce. If you want authentic Southern food, this is the place!!! And you get a lot of bang for your buck here

We stopped here based on the large number of local cars in the parking lot. The building is modest (think metal framing and siding), Formica tables etc. But the food was great. My wife had whole catfish -- cooked as well as anywhere in the South-- crisp cornmeal coating, moist fish inside. I had pulled pork, with wonderful beans and cole slaw with mustard in the dressing. And the prices were low, too. We highly recommend it.
