I was really pleasantly surprised by this place! I ordered a Reuben and onion rings and they were REALLY good for around 5-6 dollars. It's nothing fancy. Just standard sandwiches and sides and some southern comfort foods, but for the price it's a nice place to stop for breakfast or lunch.

We were driving through and stopped for Sunday lunch. The atmosphere was just as you would like your favorite neighborhood diner to be. Seat yourself, there is plenty of room. The food was delicious, and the employees (and owner) were very friendly. We had, (in order of importance) cornbread cakes, vegetables, and fried chicken. How many vegetables, you ask? Why three, of course! Creamed corn, fried okra, and potatoes. Or skip the meat and add another vegetable. Lima beans, potato salad, and slaw or a trip to the salad bar. Don't forget to save room for banana pudding.

Sunday in Corinth, MS. Stumbled across the restaurant, crowded with the after church crowd. Volume of business confirmed what we found.......great food, friendly staff. Small town Mississippi is quite friendly given the chance!

Martha's is my kinda down home cooking. Best turkey and dressing I ever tasted. I go there every Friday just to eat. Clean, nice, friendly people. The prices are amazingly cheap, and huge proportions.

I love Martha's. This is an old-timey place with old-timey prices. And you get what you pay for. The coffee is burnt, the country ham is so salty your blood pressure may be elevated for days, and the service is friendly if indifferent (when you see that most people are leaving anywhere from 50 cents to a dollar tip, you understand why). Don't mistake me. These are compliments. This is how I like places like Martha's. It's like going over to your Granny and Pawpaw's for Sunday supper. The atmosphere is fantastic. It's a real cross-section of small-town Mississippi. And the onion rings are probably the best I've ever had.

A loyal and dedicated customer base is the secret to success in any business. How does one go about building such a base in the food service industry? Begin with the clean and inviting entrance and decor, since you eat with your eyes first. Next you would need attractive, friendly and attentive wait staff to make you feel at ease and like family. The honey that draws the truly dedicated customers would be the stand alone food items. A meat and three diner is a pretty solid foundation to work upon in the food service industry. I can see where a cheap, filling and home-cooked meal brings in factory workers, construction workers and the occasional out of towner. Well, Martha's Menu holds the key to having and keeping a large dedicated customer base without offering any of these things. The decor upon entering is an appetite suppressant in itself. From the mismatched, chipped and peeling Formica tables, chairs with rips and tears to the dirt stained carpet. The particular waitress this evening was the type waitress that will successfully take your order, drop your order off and forget you are even in the building afterwards. As far as having stand alone food items....this place does not come close. I ordered a chicken patty. The waitress described it to me as "comes covered in a giblet gravy with sautéed onions and peppers." She did say onions and peppers with an S, making it plural. My three vegetables were mashed potatoes, fried squash and potato salad with cornbread. What was served to me was an abomination and an insult calling it food. Everything was cold, even the cornbread, which was a fritter. The fried squash was the thick cut pre-cooked you get off the Sysco truck. The potato salad was nothing more than their mashed potatoes with a dollop of mustard and some red peppers. Stomach churning experience trying to eat this meal would be an understatement. The real 'funny' part of looking at my plate as she placed it in front of me was the chicken patty. You remember when she described it as having (plural) onions and peppers? Well, I do not and will not ever take a photo of my meal, but this is one instance I truly wanted a picture as proof. There was only one piece of each, onion and pepper about 1/4" square. No gravy, giblet or other. The waitress on duty this day was in no way interested in trying to increase the size of her tip. Only five other customers and she didn't ask us if we needed refills or anything after putting the plate down. There is a half wall divider down the center of the dining area and she stayed on the other side. I assume that wall is the reason she didn't hear the ice rattling in the empty glass. To Each Their Own.

Martha's Menu is a downtown institution in Corinth, Mississippi. As other's have pointed out, it is a very large restaurant and popular spot with locals and the service and food quality may sometimes vary. It is a good breakfast spot, many praise the country ham. Plate lunches here feature good varied Southern cooking and reasonable prices. Many locals meet here for morning coffee, conversation and breakfast. My personal meal of choice at Martha's on a cold winter day like today is a bowl of steaming homemade vegetable beef soup with hot cornbread. It is a 5 star meal by any measure and a bargain- with a giant glass of iced tea, we're talking less than $5. Martha's Menu occupies a building in the historic district of downtown Corinth with a varied history from hotel to feed store. The founder of Martha's for which it is named ran another local restaurant and diner named Jettie's for many year's before realizing her dream of opening a restaurant downtown. Her son and his family continue the tradition today.

My biggest gripe with southern cooking is the saltiness, which has made dining out in the south quite a challenge. But I just couldn't leave the town of Corinth without trying some local flavors, so I walked into Martha's Menu somewhat apprehensive at the prospect of a sodium overdose. First thing I noticed on their menu was the low prices. Breakfast plates and omelettes all under $5, coffee 90 cents with free refills. Hubby's Western Omelet, bigger than my head, stuffed with bacon and such, was very tasty (and not too salty). It disappeared from his plate before it dawned on me that I should take a picture to show how massive it was. Not sure why I ordered ham (for the record, I don't think there is other meat than pork on the menu) but glad I did. It was thick, juicy and get this, just right amount of saltiness and sweetness for me. A slice of ham that was not too salty! I started to wonder if my taste buds have assimilated already after living in the south for 1.5 years. Being fans of the movie My Cousin Vinny, we both had grits on the side instead of biscuits or toasts for a whopping 5-cent upcharge, but their plain grits were nothing to write home about. Perhaps we have been spoiled by all the fancy grits served in restaurants these days (of course with even fancier price tag). Tasty no-frills food, friendly folks, throwback prices and setting, Martha's Menu is everything we love about small-town America (yet often try to get away from).

i ended up in Corinth on a whim... it was a Sunday around noon -- this place was open, so I went in -- the burgers are top notch, the service was great - this placce is highly recommended -- it's worth the drive from memphis to corinth just to eat here.

Fast friendly service and huge portions for a very reasonable price. Very good southern cooking. Will have to try the chocolate cobbler next time.

Three words: local, local, local! Everyone and their mama is here during lunch hour during the work week. Doesn't matter that's it's downtown, people still drive to eat here. I can without a doubt vouch for one thing: the cheeseburger. It's hand patted out and cooked on the flat top griddle......and the American cheese is gooey and heavenly, melted on the burger patty like a cheesy blanket. I like everything on mine and man, Oooh, man, I could chow down on one right now. I know people's opinions differ, but when I dream about about cheeseburgers, they're floating across the United States to Seattle from Martha's.

3.5 stars if I had that option. Not a bad lunch cafe at all food was good with large portions. Service was ok, just really slow. Nice atmosphere in the heart of a nice town.

Waited an extremely long time while waitress took orders of people arriving after we did. Finally got food and then ordered dessert (twice) which never came.

Martha's menu is a great find. I loved the desserts - homemade and really worth the calories. It is a simple and local place but you'll love every part of it. The people are friendly and the food extremely satisfying. What a great find!
