McElroy’s Harbor House Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Location: this is in the Biloxi Small Craft Harbor. It was washed away after Hurricane Katrina. It took years to get it rebuilt after the storm. So they built it Very high. I think it is probably high enough to survive another Katrina. View: It does not get much better as this is right on the gulf. Deer Island looks as if you could throw a rock and hit it. The balcony view outside is very good. Food: I like the shrimp poboy with gumbo. Lots of popcorn shrimp on the poboy. A lot of local people look the broiled flounder. This restaurant has been around forever and is a great place to soak up the local Biloxi scene. If you sit outside you can watch the local fishermen come in with their catch. But most tables outside are only two people. There is only thee tables outside with that seats four people. I recommend you check it out.

We read the reviews and decided not to come. They are too bad. Then we asked a local where to have lunch and we were directed to McElroy's and we came for lunch. I had a beer (ice-cold) and some food. Baked Mushrooms (very, very nice) Blackened Snapper (very, very, very nice) Bread-pudding (very, very nice). It's almost on the third floor (to prevent the next storm) and you have a great view of the beach and the sea. The food is simple, the prices show what you will get. If you're interested in affordable, honest food in a non-upscale restaurant, you're right here.

The main reason I give so many 4 and 5 star reviews is because I check the Yelp reviews before I try a place. I almost passed this one by because of mediocre reviews. I'm glad I went despite some of the reviews. The blackened soft shell crabs were very tasty. The half and half combo of shrimp and crab claws were PERFECT! I love the corn meal breading that was not greasy at all. While the salad was a nondescript pile of iceberg lettuce, that was totally minor to the overall excellence of the meal. Great service and an awesome view out over the Gulf.

My wife's favorite lunch spot when we're in town. Stopped by today and had the fried pickles, shrimp & grits and blackened flounder. All were great and the service was fine. Can't wait till next time.

Yum! This family run place was recommended to us by a local merchant. Great service, food and view! We got seafood gumbo, seafood platter (mix of items) and the shrimp platter. We were satisfied!

I was not impressed at all. The best thing about this place was the service. I had the roast beef po boy it was not good at all it was like a french dip with gravy poured on it. Very very disappointed. I had cocktail and it tasted like orange juice with no vodka in it. However I gave it 2 stars because it was clean and the staff was friendly.

We had the 2 daily specials: surf & turf ($29) and the speckled trout ($19). The "surf" was shrimp which. I guess, is not surprising as the restaurant is literally at the Biloxi marina. The shrimp were small and blackened and tasty. The steak was average quality and cooked OK at medium. Maybe better priced at $25. The trout was broiled nicely but a little tough. The slaw was nice. But the baked potato was served with the sour cream in a squeeze tube. No 4 or 5 star place would do that even if they used the same cream but squeezed it out of our sight. Place is large and very casual with easy parking. Likely nice view of the marina during the day but we were there at night. Service was fast and efficient.

Overlooking the fact that I felt like I was eating dinner in an old folks home, and not because of the crowd, but because of the decor in this place. It is uncomfortably sterile looking with the white walls, white floors and nautical decorations just haphazardly thrown around...the place could use a touch of paint on the walls. That said, the food was... food. It did the job, nothing was downright disgusting by any means, but there certainly wasn't anything special to the meal either. We had the shrimp, oysters, and crab claws and left feeling completely unsatisfied, especially after the bill came. For the price of the food, they can afford to amp up the seasoning on the seafood.

What a letdown. Terrible service. The fish was undercooked, and seriously, the hushpuppies were burnt, even with some black on the outside, and hard as a rock. Nondescript iceberg lettuce salad. This place blew- hard.

See photo! I've been coming here since my college days - never disappointed by soft shell crabs! Love the new place, and have fond memories of the former building.

The view from this place looked great, the restaurant setup looked interesting, and we were on the hunt for some good seafood, so we brought the kids here to chow down. Big mistake. The food quality was not that great. It tasted like it had come out of the deep freezer. The only things that were good were the fries and hush puppies. Most of what we ordered was fried, and it still wasn't good. Which is a shame because it's hard to mess up fried food. Save your appetite and hard earned money for another place with fresh more flavorful offerings.

Not what it used to be. We have loved this place in the past. Something has changed. (Maybe Management?) The home made Blue Cheese dressing is gone. The fried snapper tasted tough & old. Overall the place has dirty floors and elevator. The toppings were bland & dry.Feels like a Tourist Trap. We left this place looking forward to breakfast. No need to go back to McElroys.

The food and service were outstanding! Our waitress went out of her way to make us feel welcome. I had the Seafood Platter and my husband had the Harbor Platter. Bo th were amazing!

Took my daughter and her fiancé for lunch while visiting the coast. Had the soft shell crab po boy and it was fantastic !!! The fried pickles and gumbo are also great !!! Great service and great views of gulf from high up. Big stairs to climb or take the elevator . Really enjoyed my experience .

If you want bland tasteless food that's served up in a school cafeteria atmosphere and horrible crab cakes then this is the place for you. Nice view though!

Ate here yesterday morning because it was right next door to the Hardrock hotel I was staying in. My waiter was an older cute adorable lady and my pancake was humongous I couldn't finish it. The bacon was crispy just like I like it but not too much. Great place. I recommend.

We only went here for breakfast, so I can't comment on other meals, but it was a sweet diner-quality experience with good service, not great, but good. The view from the dining room is lovely, the menu is standard, and the quality was A-OK. It is nothing fancy, but after staying in the hotel/casino for days I was looking forward to something different that wasn't a chain restaurant. I would definitely try them again if I was in the area!

  • Jessica E.

I have mixed reviews on this place. I love the breakfast. The breakfast sandwich and cheese grits never disappoint. Went there for dinner and my experience was sub par. The gumbo was ok, but I wouldn't order it again. Crab claws were good, but for an entree I got the crab cakes and literally had shells in every bite. It was so unappealing to constantly pick shells out of your mouth. I will be back for breakfast but not for dinner.

  • Paula E.

The view is great! Staff friendly and helpful. Crab cakes were fishy tasting. Baked potato was great. Shrimp remaloude had way too much dressing on top and the shrimp were very small but plentiful. It feels like a mom and pop shop that goes for quantity over quality. If there was a 3 1/2 Id give them that, but I can't honestly give a 4.

  • Raiian D.

So.. I would give it 3 stars if it was less expensive, but for what we paid we should have eaten better food. Scallops were small and rubbery. My friends Louisiana style shrimp were tiny... I mean tiny. Like the ones that come out of a can. Facility was dingy. Staff want particularly attentive or fun. Go to Shaggy's.

This place was recommended by locals, apparently they do not like good seafood; or maybe they do not know what good seafood is. The food was over cooked, and did not appear to be fresh. It looked pre-cooked. The funny part was we waited more that 30 mins at our table for our food. When it did start to come, it came out one item at a time. First the fried crab claws, they are frozen, not made on site. This took 30 mins to get. Then about 10 mins later a side of cole slaw was brought to the table.... then 15 more mins passed and finally the entree was set before us. Then a separate plate for the baked potato was brought a few mins later. I asked for refills on our sweet tea.... it never arrived unil we were leaving. As an apology, the server put them in to go cups. This place may have been here for sometime, and may need an update. Not someplace I will be back to.

Special was listed at $10.95. My bill was $15.95 for the Mahi Mahi. I asked why and the server said that the special ended at 2pm. It didn't say that and I wasn't told when I ordered it. Food was moderate at best. Certainly not worth $15.95. Service was good. Waitress nice. Restaurant needs to be cleaned. All salt pepper shakers and dressing bottles were sticky. Table was sticky. If the meal was $10 I probably would still go somewhere else.

While the original McElroy's Harbor House is long gone with Katrina ... the new restaurant tries hard to match the original ambiance, service, and unique recipes. For those who remember the original, the new version is a bit newer and shinier ... which for those of us used to the original nautical kitch ... is a bit of a let down (first time I've ever said something like that!). Still the food is good, the breakfast menu still satifies, and the Gumbo and Shrimp cocktail are still reigning supreme ... all is right in God's good heaven. Stop in for a great view, and an even better meal. Nostalgia supplied to former customers ... at no extra charge.

To-go order, but will be back for dine-in eventually! The view!! Wow. I was a little annoyed that I placed an order with the wrong restaurant (my mistake - they'd specified Biloxi when I answered and I wasn't familiar enough with the area to know that Biloxi and Ocean Springs are not interchangeable). The girl on the other end of the line was friendly and helped me with the order as I couldn't find a menu online and had no idea what sort of sides were offered. Ordered a crabmeat poboy and green beans. The food was pretty good, but I want to talk about the building. Because when I drove up, I was thinking - OMG I HAVE TO WALK UP THREE FLIGHTS OF STAIRS? WHAT?! Turns out you only have to walk up half a flight, unless you want to walk up all those stairs because you a're really ambitious or super healthy or just crazy... I took the elevator. Pick up was quick and easy, and the girl that took my call was more than happy to help make sure everything was right.

Nice atmosphere overlooking the water. Just think seafood house, nothing fancy. I had the Shrimp Poboy & Crab Cakes, both were good. No complaints from a group of nine guys from South Louisiana. Hell, that says a lot right there. I would put it in the middle of the bell curve when it comes to fried shrimp. The beer was reasonably priced and ice cold.

Yea this restaurant was good before hurricane katrina and they lost their cook. I went there after they rebuilt and it was very upsetting how far they have sunk.

Always good!! We love McElroy's. Went on Friday and they had a dozen FRESH OFF THE BOAT oysters for $7. Can't beat that! They were gigantic oysters, too. We had beer, oysters, and fried crabclaws. The fried crab claws are out of this world - always have been! Service was fantastic (Denise was our waitress), and you can't beat the view. I'll always recommend McElroy's - any meal of the day. Breakfast is great here, too. Can't beat their short stack!! We love to just sit and relax, look out over the MS sound, and enjoy great food with friends and family. Highly, highly recommend it!

I really wish I would have read the reviews before I ate here. Gross!! Food was precooked. Nothing fresh about it. It tastes like hospital food. Actually worse. They actually brought out packaged crackers with butter!!!!! This place Can't even give you a fresh loaf of bread!!! I cannot believe anyone would say the food was good. Don't waste your money. The quality is poor and the prices are pretty High for the lack of quality. Red lobster has better seafood than this place and cheaper. Ps. I hate red lobster. Tip to owner. Don't precook your baked potatoes and wrap them In tin foil and leave them under a heat lamp for hours!!! They Are dry and disgusting. Also try fresh seafood cooked to order. Not pre made. Makes a huge difference. If I could I would leave no stars. Worst food I have ever had. And just my meal was $20.00.

welcoming atmosphere. before the food got to the table, i really did not expect the portions to be so big. tried the crab meat po boy because it was indicated as the local favorite, but it really was not as good as the burger po-boy.

  • Amy O.

Food was frozen low quality seafood. Worst seafood I've ever had. Terribly disappointed. Restaurant was nice on the outside but in desperate need of some renovating inside.

  • George M.

I went here with my wife the other day after a shrimping tour. Maybe that was a mistake, because then we had all of these expectations of eating some of the wild-caught food we'd just seen and heard about. Turns out that they have NO local seafood on the menu...just a very limited selection of your run-of-the-mill ordered fare. I had a hamburger po-boy, which was fine but nothing special. The service was good. The look out the window was excellent (the place sits atop a high flat by the piers with a great view of the water). But the inside was super drab, and the experience was thoroughly ordinary. Given this, they could stand to be cheaper. Or, if they keep/raise their prices, they need to improve as a restaurant worthy of their surroundings.

The food was good and the service was fast and friendly. Love the location and the feel of the restaurant. Will most definitely be returning.

  • Jeffrey C.

Food was good- had the poboy shrimp and the poboy softshell crab. Both were pretty good, tasty but a little on the salty side. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Prices are pretty fair. Would visit this place if looking for a good poboy sandwich.

Great view, good food, poor service. - went in about 5:00 pm on saturday and was immediately sat at table, but once we ordered, we saw our server only to deliver food and then our tickets, - food was fairly quick to come, however, some of our party's food was hot and others was barely lukewarm. - restaurant was not full when we got there but by the time we left at 6, people were coming in pretty quickly. - party's food was chicken tenders, shrimp po-boy, gumbo, fried crab claws, and seafood platter. All tasted good. - prices were at least 10.75 +per entree, equaling nearly 16.00 with drinks and tax.

  • Josh G.

Horrible. The picture featured on this page of the Shrimp & Grits is a bold faced lie. The shrimp was very tiny and cheap, and the grits had an awful awful taste to them. I was with two other people, and everyone tried it and agreed it was appalling. I let the waitress know how bad it was, and all she did was ask if I wanted a box to take it home. Why would I want to take this abomination home? We arrived over an hour before closing, but the food didn't come out to us until right before closing, so while we were finishing up, about 10 employees were sweeping around our feet and bickering. To make things worse, they left the $15 shrimp and grits on our ticket, which only had three bites taken (one for each person to try). I would not recommend this place to anyone.

    (1)
  • Josh K.

Overall, not good. Food tasted frozen, which is absurd since it is on the Gulf. Crab cakes were gritty and had shell pieces. Shrimp was rubbery and had an awful aftertaste. Best thing was the crackers they bring you. Maybe Gordon Ramsey or Robert Irvine could save them.

  • Matt M.

The View is the only thing good about this place the food is as good as any buffet for the price of the good places I was disappointed with the attitude of our server too if we choose to split a meal don't look at us like we are cheap because I don't tip on what I spend I tip on how you perform and a bad attitude get the coins only the place looks like it will be good but it's a tourist trap kind of place go 2 blocks in and find the Fillin' Station for good food! So the only star is for the View !

    (1)
  • Kristin W.

Stopped here while on vacation. Atmosphere isn't great but the food was decent. My husband got the oysters app and he said they were great. My husband and I got the split 2 entree and opted for fish (polluck) and crab claws. The fish was very good and tasted clean but the crab claws could have used some work. They were overcooked and had no real seasoning. My son had the sauteed shrimp in garlic sauce which was essentially a scampi without noodles. He loved it. My daughter had stuffed crab and it was very good, seasoned very Well. Service was prompt and friendly. It was overall a good meal. I'd go back.

Went there for the first time for Breakfast. Had been there for dinner before. But never for breakfast, and I am glad I went, can't wait to go back. I had the Shrimp and Grits and my whole table got the Beignets. The Shrimp and Grits were so good, they were creamy with a little spicy hint to it because it has this great creole spice to it. And the Beignets are great!!! The best outside of New Orleans I have seen.

We live in IN. I, myself am originally from MS but not this far south. I loved their fish, the shrimp was great, the fries are awesome, the slaw is perfect, and the tarter sauce is delicious. We loved eaton here. The service was great as well. I think we'll be eating here again before we head back to IN.

  • Lottie S.

I don't get the hype over this place, maybe because it is on the water? The food tastes pre-packaged and it was too salty and greasy. Maybe the clientele is used to greasy food and doesn't mind, but it left me feeling a little sluggish. I had high hopes for this place but it left me feeling ripped off, as it is NOT cheap. For an area known for extremely cheap and amazing seafood (toronto's anyone?), I just can't imagine why people pay these prices for this quality of food. Again, maybe it is the scenery or lack of formal-ish seafood restaurants in the area, but I still don't get it. The staff is really nice though!

  • Amanda S.

Excellent service and lovely view. Get a table on the deck and enjoy the gulf breeze. Each person in my party of 4 had different items - the blackened red snapper was the hands down favorite followed by the gumbo, the boiled shrimp and the shrimp poboy. My dish, the crab meat poboy was terrible. The menu boasts it as a "local favorite", but I wouldn't recommend it at all. Really. I took one bite and didn't care for another. I would definitely go back, just not for that dish.

  • Janet P.

Great views! Good breakfasts. I suggest the shrimp omelet with grits and hash browns.

    (4)
  • Ron W.

Nice location, right on the Gulf, elevated about 15 feet. Food is OK but nothing above average. Priced reasonably. Only problem was most of our breakfasts were tepid at best, and they weren't that busy. Had to send several back to be microwaved to somewhat warm.

    (3)
  • Jake M.

Beautiful view. Food--average or not yummy. Disappointed because this restaurant was recommended. It's food you could get anywhere else.

  • Mike M.

Service was great but they over cooked the shrimp on multiple dishes. Sadly the fries were the best part.

Great view of the ocean and marina from this place. The food is decent but won't knock your socks off. Good portions for dinner as well. Most entrees around $20.

Super place with a great view. Staff was great and very attentive. Had the snapper (highly recommended!) and the key lime was superb. We will be back!

My husband and I visited McElroy's while on a short trip to Biloxi last week. The restaurant is about 2-3 stories high on what I can only describe as stilts. We sat at the bar while we waited for a seat, and talked to the owner as he shucked oysters. He suggested the broiled oysters with cheese, bacon, and chives.....so naturally we had to order them. Thank goodness we did, because they were AMAZING! After that flavor explosion, then came our entrees. The hubs had the crab cakes, and touted them as the best he's ever had. And I had the tilapia smothered in chunks of crab and cream sauce. The seafood was very fresh, the flavors were on point, and our waitress was pleasant and attentive. In short everything was wonderful and I'd definitely recommenced McElroy's to anyone.

    (4)
  • Brandon M.

This was my first visit to McElroy's and I will have to say that it was pretty good food. I'm not a huge seafood guy, but I enjoyed the crab claws and fish that I had. The prices weren't bad at all and the food seemed fresh.

  • Jan H.

We ate here twice during our recent stay in Ocean Springs. The fisherman's platter had what the waitress said was whiting, which was the absolute best fried fish (not at all greasy, and very flaky and fresh tasting) I have eaten. The other items on the platter were also good, but I wish we'd ordered french fries instead of the old baked potato...the only stray-away from tasty and fresh. The service on both visits was good, but the first waitress was friendlier and even gave us advice on things to do while we were in Biloxi. On our second visit, one diner at our table called the shrimp po-boy the best of the many he'd had. Unfortunately on the second visit the waitress said they had no whiting, which we all wanted to eat again. I got shrimp and grits...good, but a far second to the shrimp and grits I'd had in New Orleans days before. We were too late for the less expensive lunch menu. It is a pricey place for the type of food. Factoring in both visits and the price, I'm giving it a three overall, but if I were only judging on the whiting, it would be a solid five.

  • Shanon S.

This is the BEST food & service in Biloxi! Huge portions, delicious southern food, and a beautiful view of the gulf! We eat here every time we visit. Always a great meal for Bfast, lunch, or dinner.

I agree with Lotti's review below mine. There's nothing worth going here for, unless the view is all you want.

This place sucks, overpriced, slow service, bad oysters. The only thing good about this place is the location.

    (2)
  • Jas C.

I can not give negative stars or I would. No views after dark ,may be nice during the day but felt like a cafeteria for dinner and our food did too. Looks nice from road up on stilts and all. Felt queasy all the way back to Dauphin Island and more than a bit ripped off. Crab poboy was fishy tasting like it sat in the sun to long. The shrimp scampi had boiled shrimp ,water with the pasta and 2 small crusts of bread. Speaking of bread we got none at the table instead we got a basket of packed crackers! A disappointing end to our trip to Biloxi. If the ground level place served food for 30 years it had to be better than this or it would not have lasted that long. I was told that FEMA made them build up on stilts and that's about the best thing they have going. A great look from the road We were sucker in.............

    (1)
  • Kara S.

blech! tastes like cafeteria food, and the prices are WAY too high for the quality and quantity of food served. the waitstaff was very nice and the view was cool, but neither of those made up for the gross food and expensive bill.

  • Eddie S.

Sat the bar and Richard waited on me. Had the $7 raw oysters and fried oyster platter. Richard shucked me 14 raw and the fried platter probably had 20. I was stuffed and happy. Great service and great food.

i dont think of a seafood place when i think breakfast..my friends and i were staying at a nearby casino for a couple days on the way to New Orleans..we asked the valet for a breakfast recommendation and i couldnt be happier with where we ended up!! This place is way up on stilts and you can just look out over the water..granted it was storming super bad during out visit, but you can forget that when youre in this setting lol..so our server was really nice and laid back with us and making jokes..we got some bloody marys going and they were really good..then we ordered our food and she says..yall must be hungry..so were like..well yeah we are..but then the food came..OMG..these are some huge portions for the price..and the food tastes like you would eat at your mamas house!! i had an omlette that was out of this world amazing and full of cheese and veggies and meat..i also had biscuits and gravy that i couldnt stop eating..gravy was sooo good!! my table mates enjoyed some eggs, some bacon, some pancakes ect..we all left super happy and full!!

  • Chris K.

We primarily go to McElroys as a breakfast spot. They have a great patio with an amazing view. Probably has the best biscuits and gravy on the coast, you only need to order 1, its huge. I love the shrimp and grits. They have the heavy Creole sauce and bacon, you could just lick the bowl. My kids like the super huge pancake and beignets, although they are not New Orleans style, they are more cake like, so be aware. This is one of our favorite quick, cheap breakfast spots.

    (4)
  • Dwight K.

The onion rings were a great value for both quality and quantity. The blackened combo platter had a great taste and the right quantity also with green beans and potatoes that reminded me of my grandmother's cooking. I spent $50 for myself and wife; however, it was money well spent. I would definitely recommend this place. The service was great with a nice view of a very cloudy gulf.

  • Melissa M.

This restaurant is truly underrated. Upon entering I thought this place wasn't going to be the venue I wanted to have my one night away from kids while on vacation but boy was I mistaken. Oysters on the half shell were not only cheap but the best I've had while in the area. No grit or sand. Perfectly shucked and delicious...and for $7 a dozen. Good luck finding this deal along with the quality anywhere else. I had the charbroiled crabcakes and they were divine. Everyone else ordered the Harbor special and didn't put their fork down till their plates were clean. Lastly I have to give props to our waiter Devin. He knew the menu, the bar and had more personality than a reality tv show. He kept us laughing and drinking throughout our evening. You will regret not giving this place a chance while visiting the Biloxi coast.

  • Steven D.

Visited on Mothers day so I knew there would be a wait. Although there was a lot of people in line the wait was not bad. Our server was very nice and was always refilling our coffee. The food was good but the beignets were a bit greasy and need to sit for a bit longer before adding powdered sugar. There are a few local beers on draft so make sure to try them.

  • Craig N.

We were told to come here for $7 dozen oysters. The raw oysters were good but the $10 upgrade for the chargrilled was poor. They tasted like crappy potato skins. The staff were all really friendly especially the bartender Dave who may have been the nicest guy alive. Glad to see this place make a comeback after Katrina. Apparently their dishwasher was found over a mile away. Crazy.

Great crab dip appetizer, great oysters & of course some great cocktails. Not much interior wise, could use a serious makeover. Wonderful views of the Gulf of Mexico. The crab cakes are not good. The fried crab claws suck.........skip the meal and just do the appetizers and cocktails!!!

Great find! We came for lunch; I had 1/2 Shrimp Po-Boy and gumbo-- both were excellent. My husband had grilled pork chop and they were really good too! Beautiful view of the gulf and our waitress, Lauren, was fantastic! Would definitely return!

We were looking for a breakfast place around our hotel and they recommended this spot. Walked in the door immediately got seated and waitress took our drink and food order. Very friendly and clean and comfortable atmosphere. We both ordered a breakfast plate and loved it. Just enough food to satisfy and very tasty... Not to mention the price was six dollars. I highly recommend this.

My husband and I had dinner here while at Beau Rivage, I had the fried flounder, my husband had the fish of the day. My flounder was yummy, the hush puppies we awesome. The wait staff and hostess were very nice! Would go back again!

I have never been to this McElroys location. My expectations was very high. We were extremely disappointed in the decor and the atmosphere. I must admit that our server Gina was excellent and very accommodating. However, the crab PoBoy was not what I was expected. However, Gina made sure I received a substitute. My wife did like the scallops and shrimp as well. In her words it was too salty. My son did like his popcorn shrimp. I will continue to eat at McElroys in Ocean Springs. They have not disappointed me yet!

So good husband got the flounder and was very happy. They have a vegetable of the day. Husband and 9 year old both got the steamed broccoli. For our 9 year old they even melted a little cheese on the broccoli. 12 year old got the popcorn shrimp and set it is good. I had hamburger poboy. Very very good

The view to this restaurant was nice, but that was just about its only redeeming quality. Inside the atmosphere was old and outdated. There were very few people occupying the place at 5:30 in the evening. Our waitress was kind, the food was mostly unimpressive. My side salad was the most redeeming of all the food, it was fresh and was very pretty, tasted nice as well. The grilled shrimp were swimming in the butter sauce they were served with and the little pieces of french bread were dry and not flavorful. The fried okra was pretty slimy on the inside. The Smoked Tuna Dip was pretty good, but we expected it to come out with something to dip into it, nope, we had to dip the saltines from the table into it. One of our party had catfish, I tasted it and it was nice, and not super fishy, fried very nicely. The blackened tilapia was also pretty good. The Philly po boy was also nothing to write home about. I feel like for the price we could have visited another seafood place for a better experience.

The service at McElroy's is almost as great as their food! Their raw oysters are excellent! Their daily lunch specials are a bargain, and delicious! Lunch specials include a beverage, and there are usually 2 specials each day. The view is outstanding, looking out at Deer Island. There are tables outside too! People staying at nearby casinos only have a short stroll to the restaurant for some of the best food on Mississippi's Gulf Coast.

I wanted to give this place good reviews. I really did. I've lived on the gulf coast for 7 years and promised myself to try every restaurant I can since I am moving next month. Atmosphere. Cool. Nothing too fancy, but still comfortable. Waitress was good. She was attentive and on point. Then- a party of over 15 sat near us. They were loud and cursing. No big deal- just having fun. Until 2 of them started saying racial slurs and clearly my family and I were the only black people in the section. I found the waitress, asked her to move us and she did. After we were moved, I told her why. She didn't seem very offended. Fine, as well. I've actually been in situations like this before- the owner would come and apologize and even address the party that did this. None of that happened. When I told the waitress what was said it was more like "oh really? Do you need some more water?" No one approached the party about being loud, obnoxious, rude, or making some of their other guests feel uncomfortable. Food- it was just ok. I had the crab dip- good concept- too much cream cheese and it was cold in the middle like it wasn't microwaved long enough. Shrimp and grits- the grit cake was VERY dry and the shrimp wasn't SHRIMP- like you would expect living on the gulf coast. It was cute little baby shrimp- which I wouldn't expect from a seafood place. The sauce that pulls the shrimp and grits together was really good The rest of my party ordered burgers, which they said were very good. Overall- an ok experience. Nothing to wow me. I planned on going back to try the 7 dollar oysters but. Blah. I'll pass.
