Great, authentic German food. Very inexpensive compared to the other German restaurant in town. The jager schnitzel was great and the service was fine. I will be back. I can't believe how empty this place is every time I go in, the food speaks for itself.

Disappointing. Very disappointing. Lured here by the glowing reviews and a love of German food. In an attempt to support local businesses instead of franchise restaurants, I came here for lunch on a Saturday. They were out of everything pretty much and what I did get wasn't all that tasty (I'm not a fan of pastrami nor are most people as it was the only sandwich meat available). I should have gotten up and left. Ended up with a pastrami sandwich that I could have made at home. Some apologies but it wasn't free and nothing, perhaps because they were out of everything, was complimentary as in "we're a restaurant and because we can't run one very well" have a free cup of coffee on us. No sorry, but have a dessert on the house. Should I expect something free just because everything I wanted to order was out? No, I should have gotten up and gone elsewhere.

Ehhh nothing special. Potato soup was good. I had the schnitzel sandwich and it was literally unseasoned schnitzel slapped between two pieces of dry store bought bread. My wife had a Ruben that was mediocre. The restaurant smells like cigarette smoke, so we took our meal to the park. I think this place is way over hyped. I would feel bad if I gave it 2 stars. It's more like 2.5 stars.

I've been known to enjoy German food now and then, and this little place is right at the top of the list. En trees made with ingredients from the German community in Chicago, owned and operated by the nicest sort of people, the kind that put their whole life into making good food. Today I had the Schnitzel Sandwich, good in it's own right, but for a real treat, my money lies on the Potato Soup, a large bowl of spiced soup filled with potatoes and kielbasa with homemade bread on the side. I've had that during past visits and have found none better in the area. The store also features fruit preserves, German candy, cheeses, sausages, cold meats and of course, German beer. Kudos to Ursula and her family. Give it a try when you're in the area.

Very good food. Much better than the other German restaurant in town (The Hub). Good quality food that tastes great and isn't very expensive. Very friendly atmosphere and has a small German shop and deli to take some German food home with you. Had the open face sandwich with German potato salad and it was wonderful.

This place was wonderful. The service was quick and friendly and the food delicious. The green bean salad was great. The jaeger schnitzel was excellent. By far the best German food I've had in the area. I will definitely be back!

Delicious. Friendly atmosphere. The restaurant has a low key, laid back, country atmosphere. Some might be put off by this, but we loved it. Very casual. Potato soup is amazing. Reuben is very good. Good beer selection. We've just moved here and only been twice, but we'll be back.
