    1. If you've never been to a Cracker Barrel, I guess you don't drive long distances around this country very often. 2. You should stop here sometime for some good home style country cooking. 3. It IS a chain. That said, you WILL find some pretty good food here with great service. 4. It's NOT your grandmas cooking (see #3), but they do a great job on some old recipes (like chicken & dumplings). 5. Try their killer desserts! 6. Go ahead and check out their "Country Store". You know you want to! 7. Quick, friendly and comfortable. I always try to hit one of their places when I have the opportunity.

    Three stars, all for the store and sparkling clean bathrooms. I understand why Cracker Barrel is such a popular place to stop during long trips. The audiobook program alone makes it worth a stop. Buy the first audiobook on your trip, and then simply exchange them (for a very small fee) at any other Cracker Barrel as you drive. Brilliant! I will never understand why it is a popular destination for any other purpose. This location sits next to a Comfort Inn with a full complimentary breakfast. We are here for dinner one night, and were sorry that our hotel did not also offer dinner. Cold food, haphazard service, and a general feeling of "meh" had us shaking our heads by the end of our meal. We have stopped at a few other Cracker Barrel restaurants since this visit, so now know that the food is nothing we want, but that service is sometimes better. The main thing we took from this experience is that we should stop to stretch our legs, but not our bellies.

    First off, lets remember, this is a cracker barrel. You don't go to cracker barrel expecting a five star restaurant experience. They serve good home-style cooking at reasonable prices. Sometimes service is faster than others and sometimes food is better than others. This was a stop for us on a cross country wedding trip. Needed a place to get out of the car and eat some grub. I wanted to order off the healthier option menu but told that would take an extra 15-20 minutes so what other choice did I have but to order chicken fried chicken. It was tasty, and juicy. Gravy was really good and who doesn't like a biscuit with a little honey or strawberry jam? All of our parties meals were equally good - nothing to write home about but much better than many other places along the highway. Only reason 3 stars rather than 4 is the healthy option disappointment.

    The good- We got seated right away and there were lots of friendly faces in the store. The bathrooms were clean and we were served promptly. The bad- Three people in my party ordered scrambled eggs and they were overdone and rubbery.

    Went here last night after waiting 35 minutes for our no show order at another local restaurant. Seated immediately by a very friendly hostess. Greeted by a very pleasant server within a short amount of time. Placed our order, which was served quickly and was hot and delicious. Very nice experience overall!

    We picked a new Cracker Barrel location for our annual post-camping/float trip weekend brunch. Same menu - same decor - different location. This review will not vary much from my previous review for the Fenton location. The service and food were just fine. We enjoyed a barrage of breakfast items and all were very tasty and fulfilling. I am always a fan of the chicken fried chicken, biscuits, and white gravy. You simply cannot go wrong with that breakfast combo. I can do without the grits, though. Either way - another Cracker Barrel experience is in the books.

    The short version: Food is everything you would expect. Staff was lacking in the time management department , which would make me weary of making a visit during peak hours if I was short on time. Read on for color commentary of the Sullivan, MO location: As the rocking chairs and country music greeted us with a familiar welcome, we knew we were among friends. Having just been to a cracker barrel for lunch, it was time for another safe and tasty road trip meal. Generally you only go to a cracker barrel once, but you always know where everything is anyways. We got to the dining room and had a different experience, however. We were greeted by a waitress who offered to grab our drinks, and 5 minutes later our real waitress, Honey showed up to take drink orders again. We explained they were already on the way, and continued to review the menu. After making our selection, honey went off with our order. The time for the food to come out of the kitchen was fine, so there wan't much of a wait for us. However, Honey's other patrons were confused as to where their food was. It was at this point that my drink had been empty for about 10 minutes, and I was hoping to flag her down for some barbecue sauce and honey. I had neglected to specify a dipping sauce for my chicken tenders, though it was never offered and she promptly ran off after serving our food before I could get a word in edgewise. After a bit, I made eye contact with who seemed to be the manager and made a gesture hoping to get someones attention. She didn't move from where she was standing, but did talk into her walkie talkie. After a while, Honey appeared again from the kitchen area and brought another patron something, walked around us onto the other side, and disappeared again. Eventually, the table behind us flagged down a different server to inquire as to the whereabouts of their food. That eventually prompted Honey to appear again and serve them. As she flew towards the kitchen again, I managed to flag her down for my sweet tea refill and condiments. She apologized for the wait, and explained there were only two servers and things were hectic. The food overall was good, everything you'd expect from cracker barrel, so it's the service that makes the distinction. There were approximately 12 patrons, so that's 6 tables between the two of them. I can appreciate that being a lot to handle. But I'm only left to wonder, if it's so busy why was so much time spent in the kitchen area? Why did I only see the manager standing around? Typically, if a manager knows they are short-staffed they go around and do the easy tasks like filling drinks, getting condiments, and thanking patrons for their patience.

    yeah... just remembered why I don't go here.... food was just blah... service blah... was a place to stop and have some lunch as we were traveling.

    We ate here on a cross-country trip, and the meal was decent - nothing to rave about, but enjoyable as a hot comfort-food road meal. The chicken and dumplings was fairly bland, but tasted fine - good for a sensitive palate. Our son (age 4) loved the macaroni and cheese. The salads were fresh and crisp - actually much better than I've come to expect from roadside chains. If you're passing through, and country comfort cookin' is appealing, this is a worthwhile stop.
