Had dinner last night in the bar with friends. Atmosphere was perfect. Peroni on tap was a real find and the wine list was fantastic. Each of us ordered a different pizza and we all argued over who's was best! Our server was very attentive and helpful. Even Nicola, the owner stopped at our table and introduced himself. Can't wait to go back!

Excellent! I went for an office party and left wishing that San Jose would have such good Italian restaurants. I was the only vegetarian in a party of 8 and was very impressed both with their appetizers and the entrees. All the others in our group were also raving about their non-veg selections. The owner dropped by and we enjoyed his tales of his scuba trip to the Dominican Rep. The waitresses (Kristin? &???) were a riot! The tasteful decor matched the food. The only regret: we had no space for desserts after the sumptuous dinner. I would recommend this place to anyone who fancies Italian while visiting Springfield.

You never really expect to find such a classy place when you pull up to a strip mall, but just wait till you step in to Nicola's. When you first walk in, you will see a glass enclosure displaying a nice variety of bottled wines. To the left is the bar/lounge area which has a few flat screen televisions. To the right is the dinning area, which has a very classy feel to it. We have been a couple of times now, and the food is fantastic. My wife always gets the veal and mushroom ravioli. It has some truffle oil in the sauce, and taste like beef stroganoff on steroids. It's not on the menu here (it's a special we once had at Gilardi's), but they will tell you that they can make anything you want. One of my favorite side dishes is angel hair pasta with their garlic cream sauce. Absolutely fantastic! The service has always been top notch. Even on our last visit, our server was in training, but he clearly had a handle on what he was doing.

The owners are HORRIBLE to their employees. I have never overheard anyone talk to someone the way him and his wife do. Won't ever be going back!!

Made a reservation for 2 people at 7:00. Got there at 7:00, and check in. An older couple was waiting as well. The manager asked them if they had a reservation and they said no. The young lady proceeded to seat them, and then turned to tell us that she would have our table soon. 20 minutes later we left, as the table she was thinking of seating us at was still occupied. No need for a reservation here, as it will amount to nothing. This was our first and will be our last time.

Try the pizza or the lasagna. It's a favorite for date night! The owner is very friendly, when we take the kids they are always allowed to go tour the kitchen and make their own ice cream. Great place!

Went with my wife for dinner. It was a little dark in an upscale kind of way but had some decorations that were out of place for an Italian restaurant. Service was good; a little slow to refill drinks but knowledgeable about the menu. The owner or manager did stop by to see how our night was going. The cream of mushroom soup was superb, however the main dishes were bland. We ordered Chicken Parmesan and Nicola Pasta. Overall experience was lackluster compared to other places in the 15-20/plate range in springfield.

Had the best meal ever. Our service was amazing (Eric) was our server and probably had the best service we had in Springfield. The quality of food was stellar. LOVED THE GLUTEN FREE OPTIONS. The best thing about this selection of food is its Italian and its real Italian choices. Not every dish is pasta, I had the Pork loin-the meat pulled from the bone, if you can appreciate well cooked best prepared food this is the place. Wine selection amazing. Menu versatile and fulfilling, well priced with whole food. REAL ITALIAN STYLE COOKING. Full bar, and rich food selections make this an place to enjoy the whole evening not some place to eat and leave, we had an amazing experience and cannot wait to go back. Full review to come later but I would say this is the best place in the SGF!

Lovely experience! Romantic and fun, the ambiance was great, while the food was simply amazing. We had the calimari steak appetizer (yum), the beet salad and Nicola salad (delicious), the sea bass and the veal shank (wow - just...wow). To top off the evening, we shared the Peppermint Creme Brûlée (sounds odd, tastes wonderful). Nicola and Monica are fantastic hosts, so warm and personable. You will not regret an evening spent at their restaurant.

Excellent restaurant. The ceaser salad was really delicious and fresh. I had a special pasta dish which was excellent as well. The service was great also. Everyone in our party of 4 enjoyed the meal and ambiance. Next time I am in Springfield this is a define dine.

Absolutely amazing! I highly recommend the duck, it is wonderful. I have eaten here more times than I can count, and I have yet to be disappointed. The atmosphere is also wonderful, dark and romantic, perfect for a date.

I'm a local so I'll be completely honest. Fabulous food, great wine list, excellent service. We love this place. The bar is a great place to have a drink and hang out with friends. If you don't know anyone, you will in five minutes. Nicola will be circulating the room visiting with everyone! Don't miss this place of you're looking for either a great upscale dinner, or an after work drink with friends.

My wife and I's favorite Italian Restaraunt. You can't beat the food or service again. Great place to wine and dine!

Nicola's has been one of our favorite places since it opened and we eat there at least a couple of times a month. There isn't anything that we have tried that hasn't been delicious. Last week when we ate there, we tried the Nutella Cannoli's for the first time and they were fabulous; the best I've ever eaten. Well, my husband was hooked. We went there again last night and when it came time for dessert, my husband ordered the cannoli's which our waitress said they didn't have. About that time Nicola walked by and asked how everything was and we said great except no Nutella Cannoli's. Nicola took off and before we knew it, we had Nutella Cannoli's in front of us. Now I usually just have one bite of my husbands' dessert, but in this case, I have to have several bites! Just another reason why Nicola's is our favorite restaurant! If you haven't been there, you really must go!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
