Let me start off saying I'm from St. Louis and with a Ted Drewes just blocks from my house, this may be a little biased. However, I will say Andys was really good and I had the great pumpkin(which is my usual from Teds). It didn't have as much pumpkin pie as I'm used to and it also seemed to be loaded with more pie crust than I care for. My friend had some pretzel caramel thing that was awesome though. As an ice cream and frozen custard lover, I'd come back in a heartbeat, I just don't think for the great pumpkin. Oh and if we just talk frozen custard and not specialty items or added ingredients, Silky's is by far is my fave.

I crave Andy's. Too bad we live 1,500 miles from one... But everytime we visit family in MO we are sure to visit good ole Andy's. The concretes are delicious, but my favorite is the turtle banana split! YUMM! Never disappointed when we leave- until my custard is gone!

No need for long drawn out explanations .... Fantastic! Fabulous! Freakin ...Good! Good! Good!

Plain and simple: Andy's is phenomenal. This might make me a traitor to my St. Louis-birthright, but it's the best frozen custard I've ever had. Better than Ted Drewes, Fritz's, Silky's... Andy's custard is so thick and creamy, but the real star is the fact that they offer a "Jackhammer," which is something I've not been able to find at other custard-ery. A Jackhammer is basically drilling through the center of your custard, so there's a reservoir for any delicious filling you might want. Hot fudge, strawberries, caramel, you name it. Their uber-popular James Brownie Funky Jackhammer is phenomenal, although any combination of your choosing will surely not disappoint. If STL custard places could do the Jackhammer technique, I'd consider rethinking my "Number One." But until then, I'm an Andy's girl through and through.

I am completely and totally addicted to Andy's Frozen Custard. As another reviewer said, it is never too cold for Andy's! The quality of the custard is superb, and the possibilities are endless for combinations of toppings, sauces, add-ins, etc. While it may seem pricey at first, you'll quickly see that the cost is completely worth it. Don't miss a chance to visit Andy's when in Springfield.

Everyone I know seems to be a fan of either Shakes, Andy's, or Freddy's frozen custard, and says the other two lack flavor. I disagree. I think all 3 custard places taste great and are really similar, but they each have their strengths and in my opinion Andy's is great because of their key lime flavor. It's just the right type and amount of key lime flavoring, light and creamy and doesn't jump out at you like a fake lime. Even the color is very pale green and appealing. If you like real key lime pie, try a key lime concrete from Andy's, you will not be disappointed!

Only the best stuff around. Mid-October to Thankgiving has to be the best time - Pumpkin Pie concretes! I look forward to it all year and buy quarts for standby throughout the year.

  • Nathan L.

Great frozen custard. I had one of their concretes with Oreo and it was good, although not the best I've had. There are tons of things you can get mixed in so I feel like you could go back several times and have a completely different taste each time. I could see how this place could be popular around here.

Delicious! I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but Andy's is so good, how can I resist?! The prices are a little high (what isn't these days?), but the quality and taste are well worth the expense. I'm particular to the Snow Monster myself, but my wife suggests the flavored soda, claiming the raspberry is the best thing in the world. Andy's always runs a tight ship --quick service, clean restaurant, great treats!

    (5)
  • Grace L.

I like sugar, but this is really so sweet. I've had it three times. Each time I have to run to the bathroom afterwards. It literally makes me sick to my stomach everytime. Sorry to all you Andy's fans, I think they could use a little more milk, or a little less sugar (or both).

this place is like CRACK! i used to get the butter pecan at the Andy's on Glenstone around the corner from my [then] house. i'd never heard of such a thing as frozen custard until i moved to Springfield in 2004. i was an immediate convert to it's addictive qualities. i love that i could just drive-thru and be back home in less than 10 minutes. i tried other flavors but always went back to the butter pecan. it was so pecan-y and butter-y. YUMMY!

Look, in St. Louis there this place called Ted Drewe's Frozen Custard and everyone makes a big damn deal of it and there are huge lines there (a city tradition) and that stuff isn't HALF as good as Andy's!!! I always get a caramel concrete. There's nothing like it. Only complaint is where is the "mini" or "kid size" because I can't handle the smallest size. I wouldn't say it's "too sweet" - it's perfect, but I only need half as much to be content.

best ice cream ive ever eaten please bring one to california i will run it for u.i only get to eat there when we travel cross country.i stop there in and the way out its been 8 years we will be there in august on the 4th cant wait .just eat vanilla plain so i can savor the flavor. the dillard family

  • Keeton C.

I grew up with this Andy's within walking distance from the house. It has to be one of my most favorite frozen treats. I have trouble usually deciding in between the Andy's Ozark Turtle and the James Brownie Funks Jackhammer (a peanut butter and brownie concrete with the center filled with hot fudge. They have a huge selection and toppings to pick from to come up with any treat just the way you want it. Except for the long lines in the evenings, you can't beat the place

    (5)
  • Marcus H.

The custard is good, but everything at Andy's is very similar to dairy queen in that you get swirls and other mixtures to include with your custard. I prefer the dairy godmother in del ray, va.

  • Michael C.

    Always Great...Try the concrete

    (5)
  • Tom D.

What can I say? It is the most amazing frozen custard I have had.... Thick, creamy, delicious! You can't go wrong! Enough said...go!!

    (5)
  • Randy T.

Yep...had to take the kids there again! Can't resist the "concrete"...

    (5)
  • Janice F.

I don't think custard can get any better. I like to take a pint home and squish it in between two cookies, yum....

  • Travis B.

Oh Andy's how your Jackhammer and Strawnana Sundae tempt my taste buds and make me salivate like Pavlov's dog. Ok enough daydreaming about that sweet sweet cherry filled peach concrete...aaaaaaahhhh. The service was fast and friendly, the frozen custard is not as rich or as dense as I am accustomed to but instead is lighter and you can have more than 3 bites before you need to put it away. We ordered smalls which were still pretty damn big, I can only imagine what the larges are like. I could barely finish the one had but the maraschino cherries in the center of a peach infused custard (where the flavors were no so bold as to overpower each other vying for your attention) was almost too much for me. The combinations you can create there are almost endless and you can try a different variation every time. Remember what you told that girl in college and "don't be afraid to experiment baby".

  • David J.

Andy's is THE place for frozen custard. The stuff is probably the closest thing to proof of God in the Universe. This, of course, would be highly contested by the AOG crowd, as they believe that a book is proof. I don't know, I think Drury might actually be talking about instituting a new curriculum called SFGAFC, or the Search For God in Andy's Frozen Custard. Just rumors?

  • Erin C.

Love! Chocolate custard with peanut butter cup and Oreo! Major chocolate attack. If you are a peppermint fan, try the peppermint concrete after Thanksgiving.

  • Jarad J.

A local favorite and an indulgent Springfield stop since I was a kid. There really is no true competitor in town, and every location offers an enjoyable, speedy experience. If you have the pups with you, make sure to grab a doggy cone for them.

  • Tracie S.

Stopped by here over the weekend anticipating I wasn't going to like it I live in Salt Lake and have a favorite frozen custard shop near my house...But I am delighted to report these guys are AWESOME! The service was friendly and very fast. Also, whoever dreamed up the jackhammer deserves an award frozen custard with a filling of your choice right down the center, amazing! Thank you so much Springfield for your hospitality and great frozen custard.

  • Arron M.

Andy's is awesome. Nothing better than an Andy's Concrete on a hot summer night. There's always a line but if there wasn't it just wouldn't be the same.

    (5)
  • Jared W.

Very good. I ordered the mint chocolate concrete and greatly enjoyed it. The place is very busy, but I felt we made it through in good time considering the number of people in the drive through.

    (4)
  • Monika M.

This place is the southern Missouri equivalent of St. Louis' Ted Drewes. Personally, I think it's better.

    (5)
  • Tim B.

Best Custard in the world hands down had custard all over none as good as andy.

    (5)
  • Katy R.

The concretes are the best on the menu. You can customize anything you want to fit your sweet tooth! Most of the time the lines are pretty long but they move through the drive through line as fast as possible. Longest I've waited was 10 minutes, my ice cream was freshly made and delicious.

  • Virginia C.

I felt obliged to write this, but please note that I have not had the chance to have Ted Drews. Yes, I also now live in STL. I should get on this. So - when people try to tell me that their home-town has the best ice-cream, the New England snob in me comes out. Outside of Wisconsin, Massachusetts and the East-coast consumes/produces the most/best ice-cream in the states. I don't even like ice-cream and I have to have this home-made treat. I am also generally a fro-yo type fan. But what? Custard? This is like an in-between New England Ice Cream/Froyo. It's sweet, but not overly sweet. Just get a simple Sunday and when the minor league Cardinal hits a home-run, I think they have dollar sundays if you were at the game. So - I've converted. I think they need to start franchising this stuff back east to give people a run for their money. The lines are generally long, but sooo soo worth it.

  • Stephanie H.

WOW! Delicious! We decided to check out the desserts in the area and was not disappointed. We decided on the drive thru because the line outside looked really long and it was a Monday night...the drive thru was fast and efficient. The building was so cute and fun to look at while we waited. My husband got the peaches and cream, I got the turtle, one of my kids got the mint chip and the other just got plain vanilla. We all LOVED our custards, unfortunately for us, the portions were huge and we weren't able to finish all of it. If we are in the area again, I will opt for sharing with someone in my family. We would definitely go back!

Over the past couple of years, I've become a big fan of frozen custard, particularly concretes. So when I saw this place near my hotel (despite it being around -10 degrees outside), I knew I would have to stop by and try it out. I went with my standard concrete mix - M&Ms and coconut (yes, seriously - try it before you knock it). It was ready blazingly fast. I had barely finished ordering it, hadn't even dug out my cash yet, and it was already being handed to me. Not quite sure what to make of a concrete made with such speed. The end result was ok, but not as good as the concretes I've had from other custard places. So decent and edible, but I doubt I'd return here when there are so many other custard places in Missouri to try.

  • Lexi M.

Andy's is overpriced, overcrowded, and not worth it! They're skimpy with toppong or mix-ins and their custard is not the best. I'd rather go to Braum's ( and that's saying alot)!

    (2)
  • Brianna A.

The first time I ever had Andy's Frozen Custard (which was my first time eating frozen custard) I got the James Brown Jack Hammer and it was to die for! Very rich but so delicious. I've been to Andy's several times since and have had a wide variety of items from there, never being disappointed. My husband is especially fond of the hot apple pie sundae. I would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone who is in Springfield and want a sweet treat.

  • Scott N.

Great frozen custard. Easily accessible location. Only outside dining, but they put up heaters and have some sort of wind blocking tarp thingies that block the worst of the wind. Their radio ads make me want to kill myself and actually kept me from trying it for several years.

  • Candice M.

    Key lime pie custard. Amazing!!!

    (5)
  • Gina R.

Am I crazy? It seems like most of you will think I am. This is okay. I don't really see how it is that much different than Dairy Queen. I'm from the East Coast, so maybe I think custard is something else, but I didn't think this was nearly rich enough, and more or less tasted like Dairy Queen. Except, Dairy Queen has sprinkles. I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to ice cream, and after hearing how good this was, I just wanted my plain ice cream with sprinkles. No dice. How can you not have sprinkles? Anyway, not bad, its decent ice cream, but not the nectar of the Gods I thought it was going to be based on other reviews.

This stuff is freaking amazing. I don't care how cold it is outside, but it's never too cold for some Andy's Frozen Custard. Growing up down in TX and loving my Blue Bell Ice Cream, I was skeptical of the whole "custard craze" of the northerners I met while in Missouri. But, Andy, you make some damn good Custard! There are lots of options on what you can mix in, I've tried a few different things but in the end it's all about the original custard. Try a few before you settle in on a favorite, it's cheap enough to make it a regular stop around town. Avoid the largest size... trust me... it's too much for one person! Even if you are just passing through as you transgress the old Route 66, this is not to be missed!

I have found the secret the custard gods use to envelope my tastebuds to a higher state of consciousness. Not sure if that made any sense, but what does make sense is frozen custard from Andy's. This classy walk-up offers a dandy variety of sundae's, cones, shakes, and floats. Today, I opted for the 'James Brownie Funky Jackhammer' described as "vanilla frozen custard blended with creamy peanut butter and brownies then filled with hot fudge." Man, was it ever! This custard is creamy, silky, smooth and delicious. My particular confection was filled with chunky chunks of chocolaty brownies, a nice helping of peanut butter, and a dousing of hot fudge right in the center. No shame in their game... and no stinginess either. Most "value" shops squeeze a bit of fudge on the outside for presentation only. Your left with scraping the sides of the cup, hoping for a smidgen of fudgey goodness. Not at Andy's. A delicious pool of hot fudge over peanut butter and brownies awaited my backflip into a satisfying splash. My wife ordered the cookie sundae, and my daughter a shake. Both were high caliber as well. Prices may feel steep, but you'll get it once you enter creamy nirvana after your first bite. You get what you pay for, and it's well worth it. Recommend? I'd be a fool not to. Great service, clean environment, and best of all... a delicious and satisfying product. The trifecta of customer satisfaction.

Andy's is just amazing frozen custard. If your in town and like ice cream / custard you will love Andy's!

    (5)
  • Jeff T.

This is no Ted Drews, but I really like it. And if you don't feel like driving three hours to St. Louis, this is a great alternative. Their Turtle Sunday is one of my favorites. And the concretes are always good.

    (4)
  • Cody M.

Better than ice cream! I love frozen custard from Andy's although the majority of the time the portions far exceed the space you have left in your stomach, but who complains about too much frozen custard? I don't even think that's a real thing. To much custard, says who? Anyways we love this place and so do our kids. Going to miss it when we move.

    (5)
  • Chris M.

Yes Andy's is great but you pay a lot for that greatness. For specialty items they are hard to beat. But is you just want a shake or ice cream treat go to Braum's or Steak n Shake and save 50-75%.

Nothing like Andy's on date night. Simple vanilla is the best. I have been frequently visiting Andy's Frozen Custard since I was a young Springfieldian child. There is nothing better than Andy's thick, creamy vanilla and chocolate custard. Even in the coldest of months, Andy's is always open and busy. Personally, some of my favorite concretes and jackhammers are: - Brownie and Heath Bar made from Chocolate. (This is what we like to call a "Kinser Special," due to my mother's family getting this concrete made for what seems to be generations). -James Brownie Jackhammer. Probably the best jackhammer on the menu. Some days I get it made from chocolate and other days, from vanilla. You will not be disappointed with the shot of hot fudge down the center as the ice cream is filled with brownie and peanut butter. It isn't even 9:30 in the morning and I'm craving Andy's. We enjoy also taking our 13-year old bichon frise, because they give doggie cones for free. Andy's is a staple to Springfield, Missouri and continues to thrive. I recommend joining Andy's Yum Squad. For signing up, one receives a $2.75 gift card to use at any given time. For one's birthday, the Yum Squad gives you $6.15 gift card to use at any given time as well. It is the best! ps. Every day as a child, my mother used to go through the drive-thru and get a Dr. Pepper with a splash of cherry. It's better than Sonic.

I had not been to Andy's since before Yelp existed. We ate at many other Custard places in the years between--they never seemed as good, but I wondered if it was just idealizing Andy's in my memory. When visiting Springfield for the first time in years I had to give it a test. It was as good as I remembered it. No other frozen custard quite meets Andy's standards. I'm very glad there are no Andy's near where I'd live. I'm not sure I'd resist the temptation!

  • Kimberly T.

We always visit here when we come to visit. It's the BEST frozen yogurt there is. There is something on the menu for everyone.

    (5)
  • Zach B.

This place is a cash cow. Andy's is ALWAYS busy with a huge line in the drive thru and a group of people on foot. They have something like 5 or 6 locations, and I bet they could put in 3 or 4 more in Springfield and still stay busy. I didn't grow up on this brand of thick frozen custard, so I'm not a crazed Andy's fan, but I have to admit it's pretty good. They essentially have a giant machine that spits out vanilla frozen custard. Then they just blend in different flavors or add toppings.

    (4)
  • Ryan A.

If you are from Springfield you know Andy's and how delicious it is. If you are not, then you should, if you are in town. Get a concrete you wont be disappointed.

We were staying at the LaQuinta down the street and the staff said while in Springfield, Andy's is a must to try. And they were mot wrong! Great staff, great prices and amazing treats!

  • Damon H.

This is a great frozen custard place. This South Campbell location is just one of several around Springfield. There is no seating and no location to really hangout, so bring a vehicle with a tailgate. There is also a drive through. No bathrooms. Definitely a Springfield must.

  • Melanie D.

Andy's is amazing! It is probably what I miss most about living in Springfield. They have a convenient drive through so it is easy to just stop and pick some up on your way home from work. Their custard is smooth, thick, and creamy and better than any other custard I have ever tried. They offer seasonal menu items, my favorite being the strawberry shortcake. In the summer months you can pick up a strawberry shortcake, and you will not regret it. It is homemade delicious shortcake topped with classic vanilla custard and then topped with fresh strawberries and it is INSANE!! All of their items are delicious, I have never had anything that wasn't wonderful there. They also offer a brownie sundae that is to die for, or if you are into fresh fruit you could try my husbands favorite the Strawanna which is custard topped with fresh strawberries and bananas.

  • Alisa C.

James Brownie Funky Jackhammer. So good. Get it! It is concrete with brownie and peanut butter chunks swirled around with a center of hot chocolate fudge in the center. So tasty but definitely bring a friend to help finish it....it is waaaay too big for any normal human being to finish it! Pros: - Tasty and they are super quick with service! - Delicious chocolaty and peanut buttery goodness :D Cons: - I had one huge brownie chunk....just wish that there were bigger chunks in it Why I gave it a 4..... The James Brownie is sooooo good! Everyone needs to just try it once if they are in the area! Just wish that they had somewhere to sit around there. And I wish there were bigger brownie chunks in it too.

This is a great dessert place! A definite stop when you're in Springfield!! Get the concrete.... Its amazing.

Ordered a m&m concrete regular size. Very good and I was impressed withe the amount. More than what you get in a blizzard from DQ. It was very good.

  • Jennifer Y.

Very good custard. I tasted everyone's custard choices and I liked them all! Sorry to compare you to Ted Drewes in STL - I rated a 4 based on speed of service and no "mini" sizes, but don't let that stop you from coming.

    (4)
  • Troy P.

i'm in on the seasonal flavors. Wish the price was a little lower. Family of 4 or 5 is 20 bucks. They should have the slogan "so fast you'll freak!"
