My husband and I started out early in the morning for a road trip to Chicago, hoping to have a big brunch on the road in a small town diner. We used my outdated Garmin GPS to guide us to some places that sounded promising, but alas, those places were no longer. After striking out in Clarence, MO, we moved on to Shelbina and found what we were looking for in Martha's Family Restaurant. One of those small town places where locals meet up, everyone knows everyone, and they look at strangers as they walk through the door. They had a breakfast buffet, but we ordered off the menu. My husband liked his ham, and I enjoyed my light and fluffy waffle. The restaurant is decorated with family photos and local kitsch. If you are headed across Missouri on 110, stop in Shelbina for a small town experience. Our server was Martha's daughter.
