Perhaps, it was that my expectations had been so built up, but I was a bit disappointed in my experience at Corner Cafe. I would return, but I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. First the positives... I loved the decor of the restaurant. There was a sign that read "Sit Long, Talk Much" and the feel of the restaurant encouraged just that. It was almost like you were sitting in a farmhouse surrounded by eclectic signage. The dessert was wonderful! I had the banana split pie, which is something I have never seen anywhere else. It was packed with flavor, but it didn't have a heavy feeling. My husband had the sticky bun, which looked great and was huge. The food was so-so. I ordered the turkey with stuffing, green beans and mashed potatoes. I agree with the reviews that say the food tasted boxed, rather than homemade. The mashed potatoes tasted like boxed potatoes, the cranberry sauce seemed to have come out of a can and the stuffing was bland. The food wasn't bad, but I also wasn't wowed by it, which is what I had expected based on comments from my friends.

Best. Cinnamon. Rolls. Ever! They're huge. Perfectly made. Extra icing. My super indulgence. Great place for your basic breakfast options. I haven't been here for anything other than breakfast. Great biscuits from scratch. All kinds of pies and baked goods. If go during the weekend and arrive after 10, be prepared to wait; however, they seem to move people through pretty fast. They can easily seat large groups. I enjoy the counter so I can watch the servers and cooks interact. Everyone's dancing around each other with stacked plates.

Looking for the small town, good ol' boy hangout, with some tasty grub, corner cafe is your spot. Starting with breakfast, and ending with dinner, this place has comfort food galore. Walk in the door and the baked goods, for eat in or carry out have your eyes doing circles, especially the banana split pie. We usually do breakfast here, gotta rave about the cinnamon rolls, they are huge, and they'll add icing til the whole table is sticky, which reminds me, try the pecan sticky bun. I always get the French toast combo, standard fair, eggs and bacon at two slices of buttery French toast...so good, if you love sweet things.

It was time to lunch and catch up w/a consultant and he decided to come here. Holy smokes was the parking lot backed! While large groups were having to wait, we got right in. Our waitress was nice, attentive and available. We both had breakfast for lunch and it was great! He had French toast which he said are "the best he ever had!" I had the chorizo omelet and took home a sticky bun. I haven't dug into the bun but it's as big as my face and looks delicious. The omelet and sides were flavorful, colorful and delightful xxoo See what I did there, ha! Great food, hospitality and down to earth. Go visit!!

The Corner Cafe is a down home country style restaurant great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. We primarily go for the breakfast or dinner though. And of course, the occasional to go box of pie! The portions are typically filling. And by filling, I really mean huge. My son loves the fried catfish dinner, the hubs eats the french toast breakfast, other kiddos like big salads or homemade chicken and dumplings and I will alternate between noodles and beef tips (Tuesday only), the roast beef dinner (available every day) or a big ol' piece of creme pie! I can't eat like this all the time (and neither should you probably) but it's a real treat to have a big piece of fried anything, with a side of dreamy mashed potatoes smothered in cream gravy, with a side of overcooked and deliciously seasoned veggies--and by veggies I mean cooked green beans, swimming in onion bits and bacon. Yeah, veggies. We never leave this place without a bag of to go pie slices. It's a tradition! The usual suspects are coconut creme, banana creme, chocolate creme and sometimes when in season...strawberry! Like I said...I can't eat here everyday, but when I do, there's no holding back!

We have dined here twice. The first visit in December of 2014, the food was awesome all around. This visit August of 2015, we ordered the same breakfast fare and tried some new; desserts and the pork roast. The hotcakes and eggs were not as light and fluffy as we remembered and suffered even further as the food cooled while we waited for the other half of our meal to be delivered. The pork roast and spiced apples were an excellent choice and very tasty! The mudslide dessert was eaten in a flash and was deliciously perfect. The chocolate cake however seemed dry, coarse, and looked unappealing. My teenager who enthusiastically ordered the cake stopped short after two bites and said she might? eat it at home after school. We will give them another try, but it will be awhile.

This is back to our go to ace for comfort food. Nowhere else compares. Ya got Kate's kitchen, big Biscuit. But they all had a foundation right here. Wait times seem long but are relatively short, there are times you can come here and they are swamped, so don't complain. When they are busy you aren't getting fast food. Enjoy the company and chow down.

As a Kansas City native, I inherently enjoy Corner Cafe. It's your classic comfort food cafe. Is the food exceptional? No, I wouldn't go that far, but you'll have a nice breakfast. The pancakes are quite good - not too thick and very fluffy, just the way I like 'em. During my most recent visit I decided to try something new, the Biscuit Topper, which consists of a biscuit with egg and gravy on top, with a sausage patty on the side. It's probably something I wouldn't order again as I'm realizing that I need my breakfast to be sweet and savory. Try the cinnamon rolls, peach cobbler, or pancakes, and you won't be disappointed.

This is the second time I've been here and both times I had a good, solid breakfast. It's nice and country-ish inside and the servers are all nice. The gringo omelette which one of my coworkers got looked awesome. I just got eggs over medium and rye toast with fruit. It was cooked perfectly and hit the spot. The coffee was really good too.

We usually patronize CC out east near Independence Center. It's the same menu, but the food just tastes better and the wait staff is more professional. Tonight we ate at the original in Riverside. I had a burger with onion rings and was rather disappointed. The burger had a "formed" look like you would find at a chain burger joint. I noticed that the beef flavor and texture was off. The onion rings were AWESOME. My friend ordered the 4-piece chicken dinner with mashed taters and green beans. Chicken is usually very good here, but tonight it was overdone. His mashed potatoes had no tater flavor, like they were mixed up from a box. We ordered dessert -- peach cobbler with ice cream. It's usually pretty good, but tonight we couldn't taste very much peach, and the crust was chewy and gummy. Maybe an off night in the kitchen. Our server was very nice.

Friends have been telling me for years to try Corner Cafe. I'm not sure why I didn't try it until recently. I wish I hadn't. It's not bad, or dirty, or anything. It's just perfectly mediocre in every way. It's nothing special. The food reminded me of Perkins or Denny's. Not gross, but nothing exciting either. I had fried chicken. It was ok. It tasted like your average, run of the mill fried chicken. I could go to the grocery store and get fried chicken from the deli and it would be about the same. The mashed potatoes? Tasted like they were instant. If they weren't instant, they were made a long time before I ate them. The gravy was not fried chicken gravy, it was just regular milk gravy. I don't know if it was real or packaged. It was either below average real or above average packaged. Hard to know. The best part of the meal was the mac and cheese. Delicious. Only part of the meal above average. The worst part of the meal was the price. It was about $50 for my family of 4! Not worth it. We won't go back. We can go to Denny's for $20 if we want a meal like that.

Now here is a place worthy of 5 stars. They have lots of off road parking for free, a huge selection of very reasonably priced food, great servers, the entire place is clean and the food comes out perfectly cooked and tasty. I only wish I could have eaten more!

I've been to their locations in Liberty and Blue Springs before and as such was disappointed in this location. I'm only giving 3 stars due to lackluster service. We waited 40 minutes for a table, which was ok with me, but we also waited another 40 minutes for our food, which was excessive in my opinion. When our order arrived, parts were missing and parts were incorrect. The sticky bun was amazing! However, our waitress, whom I won't name, made us feel like we were an obligation or a burden and she bordered on rude at times. I would recommend trying the sticky bun but at a different location.

For what it is, Corner Cafe is a pretty good place. But what it is just isn't for me. Imagine Cracker Barrel without the kitschy "country store," and you've pretty much got Corner Cafe. They specialize in two things: hearty, no frills traditional breakfasts and old people. Seriously, during my visit it was a packed dining room, and I was the youngest person there by 40 years. But you know what? The food was good, so I don't care. I ordered what they call the Gringo omelet, which is a very strange name, seeing as it's key ingredient was chorizo, which I wouldn't exactly call whitey's staple protein. Served with a size of hash-browns and two pieces of toast, this was an incredibly hearty and tasty breakfast. I would definitely order it again, when I feel like binging at 7:00 AM. They have a "lighter side" section of the menu, which featured things like "two eggs and hash browns," which doesn't exactly seem to ME like the definition of "eating light" but whatevs. One knocking point. This place serves TERRIBLE coffee. Like the worst I've ever had. I had to doctor it up with a ridiculous amount of cream and sugar. What's worse, every time I took like 2 sips, the waitress would refill. A for effort, but it kept messing with my proportions of coffee to cream/sugar. And while it was annoying with the coffee, beyond that the service was fantastic. The servers that work here are friendly and no-nonsense. Food comes out right and it comes out fast. They're quick to get you your check and then to run your card. I was happy with our interactions. Overall this place is fine, but I won't be rushing back. But if you're looking for a GIANT breakfast that's affordable to boot, check out Corner Cafe. One last thing. This place has stupid good cinnamon rolls. Screw your diet. Eat one!

Pretty decent food. Country style, so you get a ton. I got the french toast combo, and was happy with it. The toast was huge and hearty, and that's what they are all about. Someone at our table ordered the pot roast, which looked so good and they were satisfied with it. The cinnamon rolls were delicious, I split mine with a co-worker and they were gigantic. Our server was really good and he kept up with our large table. He was attentive and gave us refills regularly. Good ol' country cookin! Prices are really good too.

Our friends suggested this place since it was convenient for us on the way home and not too traffic congested for our daughter who was driving separately. They said the cinnamon rolls were very good. We had a party of 7 and they accommodated us nicely. The waitress was great. We got a cinnamon roll and sticky pecan till for all of us to share after the waitress suggested it. Great plan!! Both were excellent!! Everyone got to have as much as they wanted. We all ordered different plates but I can tell you everyone was quite pleased and full!! I had the chicken fried steak and eggs and grits and the toast was perfect. Kinda outta the way for how we usually come in and out of town but this place is worth the detour.. Gray for breakfast or brunch... can't wait to come back.

Just had breakfast at Corner Cafe, it was amazing. I had french toast, husband had a waffle. The french toast was the best I have ever had, didn't even need syrup because of the powdered sugar and sweet whipped butter. Husband loved the waffle, crispy and fluffy on the inside. Service was amazing, prompt and polite. We will definitely return every time we stay down the street at the Argosy.

Corner Cafe is exactly what you expect but nothing more ... big portions of home cooking, casual atmosphere, friendly but less-than-perfrect service from waitresses that take a moment to chat, and no problem to take the kids. It's usually crowded but the wait is shorter than you think. It's comfort food and my only meal of the day. I never crave it, but always pleased when I go.

Came in at 1pm on a Sunday with a hankering for B&G's. Unfirtunately, they stop serving their famous biscuits and gravy at 11 everyday. My Gringo omelet was good. Wife's French toast was cold and my daughters diced ham and eggs were luke warm at best. Worst part was our food was delivered an hour after we sat down with the excuse "a large party was seated right before you". Bummer. If you go here, come before 11!!!

Corner Cafe. It has a purpose. But not somewhere I crave. It is down home cooking and no-frills service. We recently went with a group of family numbering 17. One diligent waitress took care of all of our needs and did a really nice job. She forgot my water and I sat without a beverage for part of the meal...but then we realized one of the iced tea guzzlers had actually stolen it and had two drinks! It was pretty impressive she served us by herself with each meal and their sides/substitutions without many mistakes. I had the chicken and noodles - the ultimate comfort food. A side salad and corn nuggets and split cinnamon roll later...and I almost had to be rolled out of there. I loved the cinnamon roll. As big as your head. I feel like places rave about their cinnamon rolls then they end up just...okay. (I'm looking at you, Stroud's.) The clientele is certainly interesting. I will just say, there was more than one patron wearing patterned pajama pants. It was 4 pm.

I really like this spot the food is damn good and the prices won't break the bank. I had the Corner special with two sausage patties and no egg and bacon. The pancakes were good and the patties were on the money. The staff is very friendly. I highly recommend this place for breakfast over wasting your time at Mc D for a slightly higher price.

We were part of a group of 8 adults who stopped by the Corner Cafe for dessert tonight (Saturday, April 19) at about 8:30 p.m. We were sorely disappointed in the service we received. Two members of our group ordered coffee, 2 ordered hot tea, and everyone else just wanted water to drink. The waitress brought 4 cups of coffee but no hot tea. Since the coffee was already poured, she offered a cup to one of our party who'd asked for water saying she wouldn't charge her for it. She left and returned with water for tea that was anything but hot. One of our group ordered peach cobbler with ice cream and 2 people ordered the mudslide (brownie with ice cream, nuts, whipped cream, and caramel and chocolate sauce.) The waitress returned and said they were out of ice cream. Cobbler man was fine with no ice cream. The other two were not offered the choice of a brownie with no ice cream - not sure why. Instead, they both opted for a slice of chocolate pie. Our waitress walked across the room and proceeded to bus a table. Everyone else was nearly done with their dessert by now. Finally, she left and returned with 3 slices of chocolate pie. She handed a huge slice of pie to one lady, and handed a tiny slice of pie that had been poorly cut and was missing most of the bottom crust to the other person in our group. He declined it, so she offered him the other tiny slice - clearly she knew there was a problem here. He declined it as well. Oh, and that free coffee - yeah, she charged the lady for it.

3 stars for the food and 4 stars for the service, so like 3.5 total stars (I'm not so great at math so whatever). Waitress was quick with the drink refills, pleasant and personable. She (AnnMarie) was the star here. Food... we got the Big B, The Biscuit Topper and Meat Omelet. Nothing that was outstanding. I did order a roll to keep me busy while we waited and it was actually quite good with its homemade taste. That's about all that tasted homemade though. We followed the ever so filling breakfast (Lots of bread! Even the biscuits and gravy came with toast!) with more carbs. Ordered the cinnamon roll and sticky bun. The sticky bun was the better of the two. We put our name on the wait list at 10:15am on a Saturday. This was a little worrisome because the line was long and biscuits and gravy stop at 11am (though I don't think it's that strict, as we observed plenty of it coming out around 11:30). We were seated by 10:30 and all was well. The smoking section didn't affect our non smoking section and I was relieved by that. You will leave smelling heavily of grease. Food wasn't bad and service was great. If I'm ever there again, I'll try the pie. PS Try the Gunslinger Hot Sauce (you might have to ask for it).

My friend and I went here for brunch last Saturday. I'd heard it was great but when we arrived there was a twenty minute line and that just confirmed me to that this was going to be epic. And I wasn't disappointed. We were finally seated, and before I say anything about the food, let me just brag all over the service. The woman we had, and I WISH I remembered her name, was just the sweetest, most attentive, least hovering server ever. My water glass never went empty, and I drink like a fish so she refilled it probably close to nine times, despite her section being utterly slammed with people. That made a huge impression on me, so kudos to you, awesome server. As for the food, there aren't even words right now. We started off with the gigantic cinnamon roll to split. The dough was tasty, the cinnamon and sugar yummy, and the icing...mmmmmm. The whole thing was large and in charge and, if I really wanted to, it was good enough to eat all alone. We shared though. Our meal came out soon afterwards. I had the biscuit topper with an over easy egg and extra bacon. The egg was cooked perfectly and just burst its beautiful yolk at the slightest touch and the gravy was incredible. My companion had the country fried steak with hash browns and scrambled eggs (and he poached some bacon off my plate, hence me ordering extra). I seriously had food envy the whole meal. I ended up poaching more of his steak than he did of my bacon. It was just so good. I couldn't stop eating all of it. I can't wait to come back!

Wonderful, relaxing breakfast place. Its a great introduction of the creative side of Kansas City. Staff were so warm and welcoming. Prices were very very reasonable, I was expecting to pay much more for the food and atmosphere. The Westport District is really walkable, creative and interesting. Definitely support this place!!!

This old staple of Riverside Missouri is a 'must visit' for those strolling through town. I once used to visit this location when skipping school to grab a big affordable breakfast but now I find myself taking new friends and family there just because of it's awesome food and atmosphere. On my most recent visit I was nervous to drive out on a Sunday morning due to the rumors that The Corner Cafe can be super crowded but was pleasantly surprised to get a seat right away. A little taken back by the "smoking or non", we walked our way to a very open seating room and was greeted right away by a bubbly waitress. Within 10 minutes we had our piping hot food and the entire spread in front of us! My partner got a huge Cinnamon Roll, coffee and a large breakfast combo. The eggs were ideal, the biscuits were fluffy and buttery and the Cinnamon Roll was so huge we took most of it home to munch on later; all of it was awesome. I ordered the Hot Chocolate (which was divine) and their famous biscuits and gravy. The gravy is creamy with large chunks of sausage and it is perfect over the buttery biscuits; not to mention the spread is huge! All the food was tasty and the service was very attentive and positive.
Whenever Presidents and Presidential wannabes come to the Metro, they invariably make a stop here. If memory serves, GWB came here, and possibly McCain or Obama. There's a reason why. This place is homey, comfortable, and exactly what my Mom called (on a recent visit) "country cooking". The portions are decent, the service is tremendously attentive, and the atmosphere might have you saying "y'all" when it's all said and done. CC seems to do pretty well with groups; during a previous visit, we had 8 folks show up for a Tweet-up, and they seated us without too much difficulty. The cinnamon rolls are the kicker here; I ordered one to-go during my last visit, and it lasted me two breakfasts. They're ginormous. And GOOD. If there's a drawback... it's that, for as big as it is, it's still impossible to get in on Saturday and Sunday mornings. But -- it's definitely worth the wait.

I live fairly close and eat at TCC about once a month. Its always been ok. Today,however it was awful! Went in around 2pm and had to wait about 5 min to be seated. Not bc they were full, though. There were several empty tables around us and people waiting to be seated. I ordered the hamburger-- frozen pre made patty. I sent it back. Baked potato was undercooked. Parents had chix fry steak. It was ok they said, but mashed potatoes were mixed with instant and made with water Instead of milk/cream. Gravy, eh. The whole thing was overly seasoned. To me,this was the decline. Keep cutting corners and you'll cut the bottom line as well. This day and age,customers have high expectations for food and this didn't cut it. I won't be going back anytime soon.

The Corner Cafe had a huge menu and it took me forever to decide on what to order. It came down to the country fried steak or the hand breaded catfish. I choose the catfish and it was breaded lightly with cornmeal and tasted amazing. With this catfish dinner you were allowed to choose 2 sides. I settled on the hand breaded onion rings and coleslaw. The service was excellent. and the wait for the food was hardly any time at all. The only bad thing with corner cafe is that they still let people smoke in the restaurant.

This shit is the bee's knees! There's always a line because it's so delicious. You can watch them make all the fresh rolls, cinnamon buns up front. I had the biscuits and gravy; very filling. My friend had the omelette and grits. I've never had grits before, and I really enjoyed it. DO NOT come here and not get a cinnamon roll. They ladle an entire scoop of icing onto it. It's worth me becoming a diabetic!

I had an awesome breakfast at Corner Cafe. I had eggs, bacon, hash browns that came with a bisquit and also came with sausage gravy and a "small bisquit", which is not small. The bisquit was the best that I've ever had. I didn't care for the sausage gravy. It is the lighter, pepper gravy. I prefer the darker gravy, like at Bob Evan's. The bacon was also great. Cooked perfectly and they give you 4-5 pieces. I will be back again.

Corner Cafe' is the Cracker Barrel on steroids, but I hesitate to draw the comparison because Corner Cafe's food is of far better quality and they don't salt the daylights out of it; this option is left entirely to you. This place is what Cracker Barrel should be, except you would have tourists and truckers passing out from carb-induced comas, and that's assuming they would still fit behind the wheel. Great, straight-ahead comfort food in very generous portions. I love the pot roast, nothing ersatz about it -- sop up the gravy with hot, fresh muffins that have that wonderful yeasty, doughy smell. Great pies and desserts to finish the meal. The service is good. There may be a wait during peak breakfast and lunch hours, so plan accordingly. This is the kind of great south-of-I-70 cooking that transformed me from a 160-pound twerp from the suburbs into a proper 220 pounder in blue jeans and flannel with two Jeeps and a shotgun. Ah LUV you, Lulubelle! If this chow got me any more laid back, I'd be lying in state. Eat here regularly and you may get thataway, but you'll be smilin' when they lay you out. Yup.

One of the best tasting breakfast meals I've ever had! The Artichoke and Spinach Dip Omelet - YUM! This is one way to eat your veggies. The dip is blended with extra artichokes and spinach and fresh tomatoes and swiss cheese. The flavors are delicious. They were out of their famous biscuits that day so I didn't get to try them. But all those pies in the case sure did look amazing and I had to remember the bikini in my suitcase to keep myself away from them. The "Smoking and Non-Smoking" sections caught me off guard. The place looks like an old West saloon with it's character, charm, wooden porch, antique decor. The wait staff is friendly and fast. The prices were really good for the large portions and quality food. If it wasn't half way across the country, I'd definitely be back!

Good place. We were headed to Strouds(this is no Strouds), arrived at 5 to find a 1&1/2 hour wait. We would have gladly waited under different circumstances, but with our 15 month old, that was not an option. No booze of any type, wine etc... I had Chicken on the mind(from Strouds) and was not disappointed, as I didn't expect it to be as good. It was not, but it is good. A little soggy on the bottom is my main complaint about it. I assume this came from the warmer, which was where my server told me it would be coming from. My wife had the Chicken Fried steak, and enjoyed that as well. I did not have a bite. My son had a grilled cheese and green beans and ate most of what they served him. Meatloaf across the table looked pretty good as well. Mother in law got the chicken cutlets. I had a bite. They were mainly though not overly spiced with rosemary, and badly overcooked. Sides were small and good. Side salad however was big and good. Did I mention no beers, mixed drinks or other spirits of any kind? Server was very friendly(besides telling us about their chicken warmer), paid special attention to our son, and was generally attentive and personable. I'd probably given this place a 4 star had they been able to provide alcohol.

There are three things I order here. The Gringo (for breakfast,) The Turkey Melt (after 11) and the blueberry muffins/the cinnamon roll (anytime). As the Corner has monopolized our eating establishment options in Riverside, we find ourselves here often. The coffee is decent, the service is always excellent, the food could be better.

I love this place. A little pricey but you get what you pay for. The staff are always nice and love the buttery croutons on the salad. The Pot Roast and Chicken and Dumplings are always my favorite. For dessert the Banana Cream Pie or the GIANT Cinn. Roles are amazing!!!

Nothing to brag about. The food was adequate. They have a good selection. We were seated within ten mins even though they were packed, which is nice, but then they didn't take our order for another half hour and no one came to check on us. When I finally flagged someone down they took care of us. My biggest complaint and reason we won't be back is the smoke. This is one of the smokiest places I've been to in I can't remember how long. For that reason, I am going to say it is not family friendly.

Comfort Food Lovers Paradise. Yep, if it's fried, smothered in gravy and full of starch, you'll find it here. I've been a long time fan of this place. I remember this place before the renovation back in the 80's. It was a dingy little hole in the wall where you felt like you would fall thru the floor at even given moment. My Mom loved it, and drug me there often. I've never been disappointed with anything here. Lots of food, fabulous dinner rolls, great pies and all at a decent price. PROTIP: If you like blue cheese dressing, make sure you order it here. Never had anything like it. It is truly unique.

Salad? Who goes to a comfort food cafe to order a salad? Wrong place. I think you're looking for HyVee or Sweet Tomatoes or something like that. Yes, some things are greasy. Yes, there is usually a wait. Conclusion? People will wait for delicious greasy food. The portion sizes are huge so you definitely get a lot for your money. I ALWAYS have a to-go box no matter what I order. I've never had breakfast here so I can't comment on that but all of their dinner entrees are delish. The mashed potatoes and rolls are out of this world. And the strawberry pie is sinful. The smoking section is nasty, but that's why you request non-smoking. Problem solved. Go here when you are hungover or missing your mom. Don't get the salad.

Delicious! We go here for roller derby meetings and they accommodate groups well. The variety of offerings are huge, but unlike most places with a large menu, I have never had anything that wasn't good. The fruits, veggies, muffins, and desserts are awesome. The only downsides are that this place has a huge wait at times and their tasty desserts normally run out early.

I often say you can't get good biscuits and gravy in Kansas. Turns out you have to drive to Riverside, MO to get it. Their servings are fit to feed an army yet you money's worth. Corner Cafe has the best breakfast spread I've seen since moving from SWMO.

Well, I think Corner Cafe has great sticky buns. The whole pecans on top are soooo yummy. The Riverside location is not my favorite because people are still allowed to smoke and that can ruin just about any place in my opinion.

It's your basic diner service, but with a much larger menu than most diners. The pecan sticky bun is enough to feed four adults, but it is worth the price of sharing. The omelets are large and tasty; onion rings and french fries are standard for a diner. One of the best things, IMHO, are the soups. most are, or at least TASTE, home made. I enjoyed the chicken noodle and those were most certainly made from scratch. The sandwiches use processed meats, nothing real or natural. Desserts are also hit or miss. I think it depends on your taste buds.

This is 3 stars in a Denny's sort of way. We had an early breakfast (seems I was having a lot of those) with 'the boys' (nephews and uncles) at 6:30am. The usual fare you would expect, gravy on just about everything and I'm sure Tim Gunn will not be showing up here any time soon. What did catch my attention was the diversity of the staff. They were certainly not your ordinary trained restaurants types, but they were diverse!

I had lunch today with a friend and we both had breakfast. The place is fun and the decor is fun and so was the waitress. The prices are average about $10 each. I would say that both of our food was average. This place is unique and fun but don't expect great food, it is just typical.

Corner Cafe is all that you would expect from country food. Chicken fried anything, noodles, gravy, meatloaf. All of its well made and hearty, no gourmet cooking here, not the best 'whatever the dish' but a nice selection of comfort food. Better than many well known chains. The Caveat to this location ( Corner Cafe has to) is that it has a smoking section. If your looking for that go to this one if not go to the Liberty location.

One of my favorite restaurants. Used to live near the Liberty location and now am closer to the Riverside one. The place is packed most times we go. Have to go middle of the week early to get a table quick. I always find something I want to eat. The food is consistent and good.

Everytime I come to KC on a morning flight, I stop here for breakfast. The bisquits and gravy are pretty good, and there's plenty of omlets to satisfy. I can't comment on the lunch or dinner menu, but the breakfast is good. Staff has been typically friendly, and the service is decently quick.

This place just feels dirty, with dirty overeaters filling up the inside. We broke down and tried it out after several frustrating weekend mornings looking for a decent breakfast place downtown. I mean, how much can you mess up an egg and toast? This is how- throw a 12 inch black hair on top of the eggs. Then, put another one on another order going to the same table. This place makes me want to hurl, which might be a good idea for some of the customer's. Gag.

I can' rate the food since the greeter seemed catatonic when we entered this restaurant so we left for another destinaton. She was mesmerized with her co-greeter opening the second door for an exiting wheelchair customer. I wondered of there was anybody home form the blank expression on her face. Even though I was directly in front of the greeter podium she never looked at me or acknowledged I existed so I decided to ask a question anyway, to which I received a one word response without taking her eyes off the previously described front door activity behind me. I tuned and exited shaking the dirt off my shoes as I left. A little advice, if this is the customer attention when you enter the place, I hope to never find out what it's like when they have you at a table. Also, to the catatonic greeter, if this is the best you can do at such a young age and a simple task, you are not going to be successful when challenged with a real job. Needless to say, I will not be back and advise others to stay away.

Excellent comfort food. If you're a biscuits and gravy fan, you won't find much better. My extremely picky, Texan husband has searched high and low for good biscuits and gravy at every breakfast spot we visit, and he has declared Corner Cafe's delicious. Yu-ummy food. Massive cinnamon rolls. The man at the table next to me ordered some sort of devilishly brown gravy-laden goodness that I coveted despite my overly full belly.

If you love comfort food, this is the place for you. It is always busy, but isn't that a sign that the food is good? This is not a place for dieters or fine dining. It is mac n cheese, chicken fried steak, gravy, potatoes, etc. in bust your gut portions. Great homemade pies!!!

I've only been to this place for lunch, but I'm guessing that breakfast is their specialty since my grilled cheese tastes like a burnt egg. The President also came here in Fall of 2007 to eat a biscuit. This place is right by my work, so I have eaten a number of lunches here. While it's always busy, you never really have to wait very long for a table. The service is generally friendly and quick, so you can usually get in and out in well under an hour. I've had the catfish po'boy a few times, and it is decent. I also enjoyed the grilled cheese despite the burning egg smell and taste. The one ordering mistake I have made is getting the daily special when it was taco salad. Who friggin gets a taco or a salad at a diner? Definitely my bad.

I have been to corner cafe several times and find it to be good but not great. It is home cooking but if I wanted home cooking I would stay at home or have my mom cook. The problem with Corner Cafe is that there is not anything there that would make me want to come back. They have good food but nothing stands out to me.

Yes, this is the one Bushie visited a year ago and had a biscuit. I've been going to this place for years. A restaurant with a farmhouse country theme, specializing in midwest fare. Good weekly specials: Italian one night, Mexican the next. They bake all their baked goods in house, so the rolls are fresh, the cinnamon rolls and sticky buns are divine. Be sure to try the fresh strawberry pie when it's in-season. Friday's pot roast is just like how Mom makes it. Their breakfasts are pretty good as well. The service has always been prompt and friendly. They are also quick to remedy any problems you have with your food.

LOOONG time no see!!! okay, so this place gets all 5 stars because the food R-O-C-K-S (or I was really hungry *wink, wink*) The food, the food.... while waiting for your order they bring you homemade dinner rolls that are superb!! so superb that Bush (ya know, that guy that lived in the white house for too long... yeah that one) he actually stopped by and ordered one of their famous dinner rolls... Yes, if you think like me, you'll agree that it was pretty stupid to JUST ORDER A ROLL when you're already there, right? Duh! Anyway, unlike Mr. Bush, I ordered roast beef with a side of mashed potatoes AND stuffing (no stupid steamed veggies in my meal) (quite frankly I think it is stupid to order steamed veggies as a side WHEN YOU ARE PAYING!! ORDER THE GOOD STUFF PEOPLE!!) OOPS sorry, side tracking again,,,,,, ok where was I? Oh yes, the food. Oh dear GAWD, the mashed potatoes are divine!! buttery, garlicky tres' delicioso! (like the French and Spanish mix *wink*) and the roast beef, whoa, I mean I didn't even need a dinner knife, I just forked that sucker into my mouth, it was so tender..... yummo. Okay so I'm sure you catch my drift by now,, the food is awesome. I was very pleased (and sleepy when I left). So on to other things... the service... She was nice, took a while to get my food but I had the rolls to snack on remember? soooo I really didn't mind too much----- Price Range--- Hmm, I think the lowest thing I saw was soup for around 4 bucks and the highest plate was 'round 20? sooo, anyone could eat there really. -----When you walk in, the restaurant is full of memorabilia... ya know,, old harleys, old soda ads, an old school gas pump, you get the picture... and they have an open kitchen concept for pie baking... ya know, you can see them hard at work making delicious desserts. I ordered the peach cobbler... but... wasn't too impressed with the desserts. Dessert's dessert=sweet and fruity... Not much to it.. However, I do recommend you go for the MASHED POTATOES!!! AND THE ROLLS!! Oh and just for the record, the people I went with, were just as pleased with their meals,, so that tells me (and you) that pretty much the whole menu is delish!! so Enjoy!

Perhaps, it was that my expectations had been so built up, but I was a bit disappointed in my experience at Corner Cafe. I would return, but I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. First the positives... I loved the decor of the restaurant. There was a sign that read "Sit Long, Talk Much" and the feel of the restaurant encouraged just that. It was almost like you were sitting in a farmhouse surrounded by eclectic signage. The dessert was wonderful! I had the banana split pie, which is something I have never seen anywhere else. It was packed with flavor, but it didn't have a heavy feeling. My husband had the sticky bun, which looked great and was huge. The food was so-so. I ordered the turkey with stuffing, green beans and mashed potatoes. I agree with the reviews that say the food tasted boxed, rather than homemade. The mashed potatoes tasted like boxed potatoes, the cranberry sauce seemed to have come out of a can and the stuffing was bland. The food wasn't bad, but I also wasn't wowed by it, which is what I had expected based on comments from my friends.

Looking for the small town, good ol' boy hangout, with some tasty grub, corner cafe is your spot. Starting with breakfast, and ending with dinner, this place has comfort food galore. Walk in the door and the baked goods, for eat in or carry out have your eyes doing circles, especially the banana split pie. We usually do breakfast here, gotta rave about the cinnamon rolls, they are huge, and they'll add icing til the whole table is sticky, which reminds me, try the pecan sticky bun. I always get the French toast combo, standard fair, eggs and bacon at two slices of buttery French toast...so good, if you love sweet things.

It was time to lunch and catch up w/a consultant and he decided to come here. Holy smokes was the parking lot backed! While large groups were having to wait, we got right in. Our waitress was nice, attentive and available. We both had breakfast for lunch and it was great! He had French toast which he said are "the best he ever had!" I had the chorizo omelet and took home a sticky bun. I haven't dug into the bun but it's as big as my face and looks delicious. The omelet and sides were flavorful, colorful and delightful xxoo See what I did there, ha! Great food, hospitality and down to earth. Go visit!!

The Corner Cafe is a down home country style restaurant great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. We primarily go for the breakfast or dinner though. And of course, the occasional to go box of pie! The portions are typically filling. And by filling, I really mean huge. My son loves the fried catfish dinner, the hubs eats the french toast breakfast, other kiddos like big salads or homemade chicken and dumplings and I will alternate between noodles and beef tips (Tuesday only), the roast beef dinner (available every day) or a big ol' piece of creme pie! I can't eat like this all the time (and neither should you probably) but it's a real treat to have a big piece of fried anything, with a side of dreamy mashed potatoes smothered in cream gravy, with a side of overcooked and deliciously seasoned veggies--and by veggies I mean cooked green beans, swimming in onion bits and bacon. Yeah, veggies. We never leave this place without a bag of to go pie slices. It's a tradition! The usual suspects are coconut creme, banana creme, chocolate creme and sometimes when in season...strawberry! Like I said...I can't eat here everyday, but when I do, there's no holding back!

We have dined here twice. The first visit in December of 2014, the food was awesome all around. This visit August of 2015, we ordered the same breakfast fare and tried some new; desserts and the pork roast. The hotcakes and eggs were not as light and fluffy as we remembered and suffered even further as the food cooled while we waited for the other half of our meal to be delivered. The pork roast and spiced apples were an excellent choice and very tasty! The mudslide dessert was eaten in a flash and was deliciously perfect. The chocolate cake however seemed dry, coarse, and looked unappealing. My teenager who enthusiastically ordered the cake stopped short after two bites and said she might? eat it at home after school. We will give them another try, but it will be awhile.

This is back to our go to ace for comfort food. Nowhere else compares. Ya got Kate's kitchen, big Biscuit. But they all had a foundation right here. Wait times seem long but are relatively short, there are times you can come here and they are swamped, so don't complain. When they are busy you aren't getting fast food. As a Kansas City native, I inherently enjoy Corner Cafe. It's your classic comfort food cafe. Is the food exceptional? No, I wouldn't go that far, but you'll have a nice breakfast. The pancakes are quite good - not too thick and very fluffy, just the way I like 'em. During my most recent visit I decided to try something new, the Biscuit Topper, which consists of a biscuit with egg and gravy on top, with a sausage patty on the side. It's probably something I wouldn't order again as I'm realizing that I need my breakfast to be sweet and savory. Try the cinnamon rolls, peach cobbler, or pancakes, and you won't be disappointed.

This is the second time I've been here and both times I had a good, solid breakfast. It's nice and country-ish inside and the servers are all nice. We usually patronize CC out east near Independence Center. It's the same menu, but the food just tastes better and the wait staff is more professional. Tonight we ate at the original in Riverside. I had a burger with onion rings and was rather disappointed. The burger had a "formed" look like you would find at a chain burger joint. I noticed that the beef flavor and texture was off. The onion rings were AWESOME. My friend ordered the 4-piece chicken dinner with mashed taters and green beans. Chicken is usually very good here, but tonight it was overdone. His mashed potatoes had no tater flavor, like they were mixed up from a box. We ordered dessert -- peach cobbler with ice cream. It's usually pretty good, but tonight we couldn't taste very much peach, and the crust was chewy and gummy. Maybe an off night in the kitchen. Our server was very nice.

Friends have been telling me for years to try Corner Cafe. I'm not sure why I didn't try it until recently. I wish I hadn't. It's not bad, or dirty, or anything. It's just perfectly mediocre in every way. It's nothing special. The food reminded me of Perkins or Denny's. Not gross, but nothing exciting either. I had fried chicken. It was ok. It tasted like your average, run of the mill fried chicken. I could go to the grocery store and get fried chicken from the deli and it would be about the same. The mashed potatoes? Tasted like they were instant. If they weren't instant, they were made a long time before I ate them. The gravy was not fried chicken gravy, it was just regular milk gravy. I don't know if it was real or packaged. It was either below average real or above average packaged. Hard to know. The best part of the meal was the mac and cheese. Delicious. Only part of the meal above average. The worst part of the meal was the price. It was about $50 for my family of 4! Not worth it. We won't go back. We can go to Denny's for $20 if we want a meal like that.

I've been to their locations in Liberty and Blue Springs before and as such was disappointed in this location. I'm only giving 3 stars due to lackluster service. We waited 40 minutes for a table, which was ok with me, but we also waited another 40 minutes for our food, which was excessive in my opinion. When our order arrived, parts were missing and parts were incorrect. The sticky bun was amazing! However, our waitress, whom I won't name, made us feel like we were an obligation or a burden and she bordered on rude at times. I would recommend trying the sticky bun but at a different location.

They specialize in two things: hearty, no frills traditional breakfasts and old people. Seriously, during my visit it was a packed dining room, and I was the youngest person there by 40 years. But you know what? The food was good, so I don't care. I ordered what they call the Gringo omelet, which is a very strange name, seeing as it's key ingredient was chorizo, which I wouldn't exactly call whitey's staple protein. Served with a size of hash-browns and two pieces of toast, this was an incredibly hearty and tasty breakfast. I would definitely order it again, when I feel like binging at 7:00 AM. They have a "lighter side" section of the menu, which featured things like "two eggs and hash browns," which doesn't exactly seem to ME like the definition of "eating light" but whatevs. One knocking point. This place serves TERRIBLE coffee. Like the worst I've ever had. I had to doctor it up with a ridiculous amount of cream and sugar. What's worse, every time I took like 2 sips, the waitress would refill. A for effort, but it kept messing with my proportions of coffee to cream/sugar. And while it was annoying with the coffee, beyond that the service was fantastic. The servers that work here are friendly and no-nonsense. Food comes out right and it comes out fast. They're quick to get you your check and then to run your card. I was happy with our interactions. Overall this place is fine, but I won't be rushing back. But if you're looking for a GIANT breakfast that's affordable to boot, check out Corner Cafe. One last thing. This place has stupid good cinnamon rolls. Screw your diet. Eat one!

Pretty decent food. Country style, so you get a ton. I got the french toast combo, and was happy with it. The toast was huge and hearty, and that's what they are all about. Someone at our table ordered the pot roast, which looked so good and they were satisfied with it. The cinnamon rolls were delicious, I split mine with a co-worker and they were gigantic. Our server was really good and he kept up with our large table. He was attentive and gave us refills regularly. Good ol' country cookin! Prices are really good too.

Our friends suggested this place since it was convenient for us on the way home and not too traffic congested for our daughter who was driving separately. They said the cinnamon rolls were very good. We had a party of 7 and they accommodated us nicely. The waitress was great. We got a cinnamon roll and sticky pecan till for all of us to share after the waitress suggested it. Great plan!! Both were excellent!! Everyone got to have as much as they wanted. We all ordered different plates but I can tell you everyone was quite pleased and full!! Just had breakfast at Corner Cafe, it was amazing. I had french toast, husband had a waffle. The french toast was the best I have ever had, didn't even need syrup because of the powdered sugar and sweet whipped butter. Husband loved the waffle, crispy and fluffy on the inside. Service was amazing, prompt and polite. We will definitely return every time we stay down the street at the Argosy.

Came in at 1pm on a Sunday with a hankering for B&G's. Unfirtunately, they stop serving their famous biscuits and gravy at 11 everyday. My Gringo omelet was good. Wife's French toast was cold and my daughters diced ham and eggs were luke warm at best. Corner Cafe. It has a purpose. But not somewhere I crave. It is down home cooking and no-frills service. We recently went with a group of family numbering 17. One diligent waitress took care of all of our needs and did a really nice job. She forgot my water and I sat without a beverage for part of the meal...but then we realized one of the iced tea guzzlers had actually stolen it and had two drinks! It was pretty impressive she served us by herself with each meal and their sides/substitutions without many mistakes. I had the chicken and noodles - the ultimate comfort food. A side salad and corn nuggets and split cinnamon roll later...and I almost had to be rolled out of there. I loved the cinnamon roll. As big as your head. I feel like places rave about their cinnamon rolls then they end up just...okay. (I'm looking at you, Stroud's.) The clientele is certainly interesting. I will just say, there was more than one patron wearing patterned pajama pants. It was 4 pm.

I really like this spot the food is damn good and the prices won't break the bank. I had the Corner special with two sausage patties and no egg and bacon. The pancakes were good and the patties were on the money. The staff is very friendly. I highly recommend this place for breakfast over wasting your time at Mc D for a slightly higher price.

We were part of a group of 8 adults who stopped by the Corner Cafe for dessert tonight (Saturday, April 19) at about 8:30 p.m. We were sorely disappointed in the service we received. Two members of our group ordered coffee, 2 ordered hot tea, and everyone else just wanted water to drink. The waitress brought 4 cups of coffee but no hot tea. Since the coffee was already poured, she offered a cup to one of our party who'd asked for water saying she wouldn't charge her for it. She left and returned with water for tea that was anything but hot. One of our group ordered peach cobbler with ice cream and 2 people ordered the mudslide (brownie with ice cream, nuts, whipped cream, and caramel and chocolate sauce.) The waitress returned and said they were out of ice cream. Cobbler man was fine with no ice cream. The other two were not offered the choice of a brownie with no ice cream - not sure why. Instead, they both opted for a slice of chocolate pie. Our waitress walked across the room and proceeded to bus a table. Everyone else was nearly done with their dessert by now. Finally, she left and returned with 3 slices of chocolate pie. She handed a huge slice of pie to one lady, and handed a tiny slice of pie that had been poorly cut and was missing most of the bottom crust to the other person in our group. He declined it, so she offered him the other tiny slice - clearly she knew there was a problem here. He declined it as well. Oh, and that free coffee - yeah, she charged the lady for it.

3 stars for the food and 4 stars for the service, so like 3.5 total stars (I'm not so great at math so whatever). Waitress was quick with the drink refills, pleasant and personable. She (AnnMarie) was the star here. Food... we got the Big B, The Biscuit Topper and Meat Omelet. Nothing that was outstanding. I did order a roll to keep me busy while we waited and it was actually quite good with its homemade taste. That's about all that tasted homemade though. We followed the ever so filling breakfast (Lots of bread! Even the biscuits and gravy came with toast!) with more carbs. Ordered the cinnamon roll and sticky bun. The sticky bun was the better of the two. We put our name on the wait list at 10:15am on a Saturday. This was a little worrisome because the line was long and biscuits and gravy stop at 11am (though I don't think it's that strict, as we observed plenty of it coming out around 11:30). We were seated by 10:30 and all was well. The smoking section didn't affect our non smoking section and I was relieved by that. You will leave smelling heavily of grease. Food wasn't bad and service was great. If I'm ever there again, I'll try the pie. PS Try the Gunslinger Hot Sauce (you might have to ask for it).

My friend and I went here for brunch last Saturday. I'd heard it was great but when we arrived there was a twenty minute line and that just confirmed me to that this was going to be epic. And I wasn't disappointed. We were finally seated, and before I say anything about the food, let me just brag all over the service. The woman we had, and I WISH I remembered her name, was just the sweetest, most attentive, least hovering server ever. My water glass never went empty, and I drink like a fish so she refilled it probably close to nine times, despite her section being utterly slammed with people. That made a huge impression on me, so kudos to you, awesome server. As for the food, there aren't even words right now. We started off with the gigantic cinnamon roll to split. The dough was tasty, the cinnamon and sugar yummy, and the icing...mmmmmm. The whole thing was large and in charge and, if I really wanted to, it was good enough to eat all alone. We shared though. Our meal came out soon afterwards. I had the biscuit topper with an over easy egg and extra bacon. The egg was cooked perfectly and just burst its beautiful yolk at the slightest touch and the gravy was incredible. My companion had the country fried steak with hash browns and scrambled eggs (and he poached some bacon off my plate, hence me ordering extra). I seriously had food envy the whole meal. I ended up poaching more of his steak than he did of my bacon. It was just so good. I couldn't stop eating all of it. I can't wait to come back!

Wonderful, relaxing breakfast place. Its a great introduction of the creative side of Kansas City. Staff were so warm and welcoming. Prices were very very reasonable, I was expecting to pay much more for the food and atmosphere. The Westport District is really walkable, creative and interesting. Definitely support this place!!!

This old staple of Riverside Missouri is a 'must visit' for those strolling through town. I once used to visit this location when skipping school to grab a big affordable breakfast but now I find myself taking new friends and family there just because of it's awesome food and atmosphere. On my most recent visit I was nervous to drive out on a Sunday morning due to the rumors that The Corner Cafe can be super crowded but was pleasantly surprised to get a seat right away. A little taken back by the "smoking or non", we walked our way to a very open seating room and was greeted right away by a bubbly waitress. Within 10 minutes we had our piping hot food and the entire spread in front of us! My partner got a huge Cinnamon Roll, coffee and a large breakfast combo. The eggs were ideal, the biscuits were fluffy and buttery and the Cinnamon Roll was so huge we took most of it home to munch on later; all of it was awesome. I ordered the Hot Chocolate (which was divine) and their famous biscuits and gravy. The gravy is creamy with large chunks of sausage and it is perfect over the buttery biscuits; not to mention the spread is huge! All the food was tasty and the service was very attentive and positive.

Very unimpressive. I ordered chicken and noodles, and as any southern cook knows, this is cream based dish. Homemade noodles with big chunks of chicken. Well, I got chicken noodle soup (broth based) with wide egg noodles and leftover chicken pieces. Yuck. I also wonder why in the world they would call themselves a "comfort food" restaurant and not serve sweet tea! Sheesh, even McDonalds serves sweet tea. The place was fairly clean, but certainly nothing to brag about. The wait staff was fair at best. Very little personality and didn't refill drinks until we were already finished eating. The entrées did not come with sides (you have to purchase those extra) and if you would like a dinner roll, you guessed it, it costs extra. The only reason I am giving this place two stars is because the cinnamon rolls were quite large and tasty. Other than that, don't bother.

Whenever Presidents and Presidential wannabes come to the Metro, they invariably make a stop here. If memory serves, GWB came here, and possibly McCain or Obama. There's a reason why. This place is homey, comfortable, and exactly what my Mom called (on a recent visit) "country cooking". The portions are decent, the service is tremendously attentive, and the atmosphere might have you saying "y'all" when it's all said and done. CC seems to do pretty well with groups; during a previous visit, we had 8 folks show up for a Tweet-up, and they seated us without too much difficulty. The cinnamon rolls are the kicker here; I ordered one to-go during my last visit, and it lasted me two breakfasts. They're ginormous. And GOOD. If there's a drawback... it's that, for as big as it is, it's still impossible to get in on Saturday and Sunday mornings. But -- it's definitely worth the wait.

I live fairly close and eat at TCC about once a month. Its always been ok. Today,however it was awful! Went in around 2pm and had to wait about 5 min to be seated. Not bc they were full, though. There were several empty tables around us and people waiting to be seated. I ordered the hamburger-- frozen pre made patty. I sent it back. Baked potato was undercooked. Parents had chix fry steak. It was ok they said, but mashed potatoes were mixed with instant and made with water Instead of milk/cream. Gravy, eh. The whole thing was overly seasoned. To me,this was the decline. Keep cutting corners and you'll cut the bottom line as well. This day and age,customers have high expectations for food and this didn't cut it. I won't be going back anytime soon.

The Corner Cafe had a huge menu and it took me forever to decide on what to order. It came down to the country fried steak or the hand breaded catfish. I choose the catfish and it was breaded lightly with cornmeal and tasted amazing. With this catfish dinner you were allowed to choose 2 sides. I settled on the hand breaded onion rings and coleslaw. The service was excellent. and the wait for the food was hardly any time at all. The only bad thing with corner cafe is that they still let people smoke in the restaurant.

I had an awesome breakfast at Corner Cafe. I had eggs, bacon, hash browns that came with a bisquit and also came with sausage gravy and a "small bisquit", which is not small. The bisquit was the best that I've ever had. I didn't care for the sausage gravy. It is the lighter, pepper gravy. I prefer the darker gravy, like at Bob Evan's. The bacon was also great. Cooked perfectly and they give you 4-5 pieces. I will be back again.

Corner Cafe' is the Cracker Barrel on steroids, but I hesitate to draw the comparison because Corner Cafe's food is of far better quality and they don't salt the daylights out of it; this option is left entirely to you. This place is what Cracker Barrel should be, except you would have tourists and truckers passing out from carb-induced comas, and that's assuming they would still fit behind the wheel. Great, straight-ahead comfort food in very generous portions. I love the pot roast, nothing ersatz about it -- sop up the gravy with hot, fresh muffins that have that wonderful yeasty, doughy smell. Great pies and desserts to finish the meal. The service is good. There may be a wait during peak breakfast and lunch hours, so plan accordingly. This is the kind of great south-of-I-70 cooking that transformed me from a 160-pound twerp from the suburbs into a proper 220 pounder in blue jeans and flannel with two Jeeps and a shotgun. Ah LUV you, Lulubelle! If this chow got me any more laid back, I'd be lying in state. Eat here regularly and you may get thataway, but you'll be smilin' when they lay you out. Yup.

One of the best tasting breakfast meals I've ever had! The Artichoke and Spinach Dip Omelet - YUM! This is one way to eat your veggies. The dip is blended with extra artichokes and spinach and fresh tomatoes and swiss cheese. The flavors are delicious. They were out of their famous biscuits that day so I didn't get to try them. But all those pies in the case sure did look amazing and I had to remember the bikini in my suitcase to keep myself away from them. The "Smoking and Non-Smoking" sections caught me off guard. The place looks like an old West saloon with it's character, charm, wooden porch, antique decor. The wait staff is friendly and fast. The prices were really good for the large portions and quality food. If it wasn't half way across the country, I'd definitely be back!

Good place. We were headed to Strouds(this is no Strouds), arrived at 5 to find a 1&1/2 hour wait. We would have gladly waited under different circumstances, but with our 15 month old, that was not an option. No booze of any type, wine etc... I had Chicken on the mind(from Strouds) and was not disappointed, as I didn't expect it to be as good. It was not, but it is good. A little soggy on the bottom is my main complaint about it. I assume this came from the warmer, which was where my server told me it would be coming from. My wife had the Chicken Fried steak, and enjoyed that as well. I did not have a bite. My son had a grilled cheese and green beans and ate most of what they served him. Meatloaf across the table looked pretty good as well. Mother in law got the chicken cutlets. I had a bite. They were mainly though not overly spiced with rosemary, and badly overcooked. Sides were small and good. Side salad however was big and good. Did I mention no beers, mixed drinks or other spirits of any kind? Server was very friendly(besides telling us about their chicken warmer), paid special attention to our son, and was generally attentive and personable. I'd probably given this place a 4 star had they been able to provide alcohol.

Nothing to brag about. The food was adequate. They have a good selection. We were seated within ten mins even though they were packed, which is nice, but then they didn't take our order for another half hour and no one came to check on us. When I finally flagged someone down they took care of us. My biggest complaint and reason we won't be back is the smoke. This is one of the smokiest places I've been to in I can't remember how long. For that reason, I am going to say it is not family friendly.

I remember this place before the renovation back in the 80's. It was a dingy little hole in the wall where you felt like you would fall thru the floor at even given moment. Salad? Who goes to a comfort food cafe to order a salad? Wrong place. I think you're looking for HyVee or Sweet Tomatoes or something like that. Yes, some things are greasy. Yes, there is usually a wait. Conclusion? People will wait for delicious greasy food. The portion sizes are huge so you definitely get a lot for your money. I ALWAYS have a to-go box no matter what I order. I've never had breakfast here so I can't comment on that but all of their dinner entrees are delish. The mashed potatoes and rolls are out of this world. And the strawberry pie is sinful. The smoking section is nasty, but that's why you request non-smoking. Problem solved. Go here when you are hungover or missing your mom. Don't get the salad.

Delicious! We go here for roller derby meetings and they accommodate groups well. I often say you can't get good biscuits and gravy in Kansas. Turns out you have to drive to Riverside, MO to get it. Their servings are fit to feed an army yet you money's worth. Corner Cafe has the best breakfast spread I've seen since moving from SWMO.

It's your basic diner service, but with a much larger menu than most diners. The pecan sticky bun is enough to feed four adults, but it is worth the price of sharing. The omelets are large and tasty; onion rings and french fries are standard for a diner. One of the best things, IMHO, are the soups. most are, or at least TASTE, home made. I enjoyed the chicken noodle and those were most certainly made from scratch. The sandwiches use processed meats, nothing real or natural. Desserts are also hit or miss. I think it depends on your taste buds.

This is 3 stars in a Denny's sort of way. We had an early breakfast (seems I was having a lot of those) with 'the boys' (nephews and uncles) at 6:30am. The usual fare you would expect, gravy on just about everything and I'm sure Tim Gunn will not be showing up here any time soon. What did catch my attention was the diversity of the staff. They were certainly not your ordinary trained restaurants types, but they were diverse!

Everytime I come to KC on a morning flight, I stop here for breakfast. The bisquits and gravy are pretty good, and there's plenty of omlets to satisfy. I can't comment on the lunch or dinner menu, but the breakfast is good. Staff has been typically friendly, and the service is decently quick.

I mean, how much can you mess up an egg and toast? This is how- throw a 12 inch black hair on top of the eggs. Then, put another one on another order going to the same table. This place makes me want to hurl, which might be a good idea for some of the customer's. Gag.

I can' rate the food since the greeter seemed catatonic when we entered this restaurant so we left for another destinaton. She was mesmerized with her co-greeter opening the second door for an exiting wheelchair customer. I wondered of there was anybody home form the blank expression on her face. Even though I was directly in front of the greeter podium she never looked at me or acknowledged I existed so I decided to ask a question anyway, to which I received a one word response without taking her eyes off the previously described front door activity behind me. I tuned and exited shaking the dirt off my shoes as I left. A little advice, if this is the customer attention when you enter the place, I hope to never find out what it's like when they have you at a table. Also, to the catatonic greeter, if this is the best you can do at such a young age and a simple task, you are not going to be successful when challenged with a real job. Needless to say, I will not be back and advise others to stay away.

Excellent comfort food. If you're a biscuits and gravy fan, you won't find much better. My extremely picky, Texan husband has searched high and low for good biscuits and gravy at every breakfast spot we visit, and he has declared Corner Cafe's delicious. Yu-ummy food. Massive cinnamon rolls. The man at the table next to me ordered some sort of devilishly brown gravy-laden goodness that I coveted despite my overly full belly.

If you love comfort food, this is the place for you. It is always busy, but isn't that a sign that the food is good? This is not a place for dieters or fine dining. It is mac n cheese, chicken fried steak, gravy, potatoes, etc. in bust your gut portions. Great homemade pies!!!

I've only been to this place for lunch, but I'm guessing that breakfast is their specialty since my grilled cheese tastes like a burnt egg. The President also came here in Fall of 2007 to eat a biscuit. This place is right by my work, so I have eaten a number of lunches here. While it's always busy, you never really have to wait very long for a table. The service is generally friendly and quick, so you can usually get in and out in well under an hour. I've had the catfish po'boy a few times, and it is decent. I also enjoyed the grilled cheese despite the burning egg smell and taste. The one ordering mistake I have made is getting the daily special when it was taco salad. Who friggin gets a taco or a salad at a diner? Definitely my bad.

Corner cafe is one of my favorites. You can't go wrong with their veggie plate and their navy beans are to die for! Don't be scared to try their cinnamon rolls, even though they are HUGE.

I have been to corner cafe several times and find it to be good but not great. It is home cooking but if I wanted home cooking I would stay at home or have my mom cook. The problem with Corner Cafe is that there is not anything there that would make me want to come back. They have good food but nothing stands out to me.

Yes, this is the one Bushie visited a year ago and had a biscuit. I've been going to this place for years. A restaurant with a farmhouse country theme, specializing in midwest fare. Good weekly specials: Italian one night, Mexican the next. They bake all their baked goods in house, so the rolls are fresh, the cinnamon rolls and sticky buns are divine. Be sure to try the fresh strawberry pie when it's in-season. Friday's pot roast is just like how Mom makes it. Their breakfasts are pretty good as well. The service has always been prompt and friendly. They are also quick to remedy any problems you have with your food.

Taken here by some friends and ordered Country Fried Steak. It was is awful. Worse than the level of IHOP or the like. Everything ordered at the table was a more greasy version of the same style meal at other similar restaurants. The service was alright, but nothing noteworthy.

LOOONG time no see!!! okay, so this place gets all 5 stars because the food R-O-C-K-S (or I was really hungry *wink, wink*) The food, the food.... while waiting for your order they bring you homemade dinner rolls that are superb!! so superb that Bush (ya know, that guy that lived in the white house for too long... yeah that one) he actually stopped by and ordered one of their famous dinner rolls... Yes, if you think like me, you'll agree that it was pretty stupid to JUST ORDER A ROLL when you're already there, right? Duh! Anyway, unlike Mr. Bush, I ordered roast beef with a side of mashed potatoes AND stuffing (no stupid steamed veggies in my meal) (quite frankly I think it is stupid to order steamed veggies as a side WHEN YOU ARE PAYING!! ORDER THE GOOD STUFF PEOPLE!!) OOPS sorry, side tracking again,,,,,, ok where was I? Oh yes, the food. Oh dear GAWD, the mashed potatoes are divine!! buttery, garlicky tres' delicioso! (like the French and Spanish mix *wink*) and the roast beef, whoa, I mean I didn't even need a dinner knife, I just forked that sucker into my mouth, it was so tender..... yummo. Okay so I'm sure you catch my drift by now,, the food is awesome. I was very pleased (and sleepy when I left). So on to other things... the service... She was nice, took a while to get my food but I had the rolls to snack on remember? soooo I really didn't mind too much----- Price Range--- Hmm, I think the lowest thing I saw was soup for around 4 bucks and the highest plate was 'round 20? sooo, anyone could eat there really. -----When you walk in, the restaurant is full of memorabilia... ya know,, old harleys, old soda ads, an old school gas pump, you get the picture... and they have an open kitchen concept for pie baking... ya know, you can see them hard at work making delicious desserts. I ordered the peach cobbler... but... wasn't too impressed with the desserts. Dessert's dessert=sweet and fruity... Not much to it.. However, I do recommend you go for the MASHED POTATOES!!! AND THE ROLLS!! Oh and just for the record, the people I went with, were just as pleased with their meals,, so that tells me (and you) that pretty much the whole menu is delish!! so Enjoy!
