We had been planning an outing with two of our besties for quite some time and I had a Groupon so we agreed to meet up here on a Saturday evening. We fired that Escort up and high-tailed it for Parkville. We like going to Parkville and there are several places we have eaten at. I've eaten at the Piropo's in Briarcliff and really enjoyed the experience. This particular place is perched above part of the town and the parking lot is a bit steep but we got in and found a good place to park. The interior of Piropo's Grill is warm and inviting. We are immediately greeted and seated with our party. The menu is interesting and not overwhelming. Many people are surprised to note that Argentine food is not that different for America food. I think people just have it in their heads that if it's South of the Border, it's Mexican. The diversity of Latin American food never ceases to amaze me. If you don't like chiles, or spicy food, many Argentine dishes are made to accommodate you. Argentine plates feature rich, roasted meats. Being an unabashed carnivore, that is one of the things I love about Argentine cuisine. I passed up on the beef this time and ordered the stuffed chicken. And I was not let down but...I'm getting ahead of myself. I had a three-cheese empanada to start out and ate it with the chimichurri. Delicious! A little cheese pie with the pesto-like chimichurri sauce. Next came an avocado and tomato salad with red onions and dusted with salt, pepper and cumin and then drizzled with olive oil...absolutely orgasmic...OMG! It was too deletible! I've since tried to recreate it at home. I just love the way those fresh flavors mingled and what a change from a regular lettuce or cabbage salad. The stuffed chicken was delicious with prosciutto and cheese. Tender meat and savory stuffing. Incredible! The atmosphere here is so casual and relaxing. I enjoyed a glass of Argentine wine and their wine list is very accommodating to wine aficionados. The prices are not as high as the Briarcliff location which makes it easier on the wallet. Our server was attentive and professional and we received a vising from the manager who wanted to make sure that everything was satisfactory. It was. This is a nice place to take a date or a significant other for a special occasion or just to have a nice dinner with good friends. You can dress up or you can be casual. The view from the restaurant is also nice. We will definitely be back.

I'm shocked by the low ratings as we had a very good experience here. First off, Piropos Grille is in the charming downtown of Parkville. It's so close to KC, but feels like it's hours away (slow pace, small town feel). Although the staff was slow to greet us, the rest of our experience was very good service. You could tell they were trying very hard to please (as if maybe they read some of these bad reviews). The manager checked in on us several times, and our server was extremely attentive. We also heard several people get comped items that they weren't 100% satisfied with; thus, I think they are working hard to be a great restaurant. The complimentary grilled focaccia with garlic aioli was very good. The dinner portions are very large. I ordered the pork chop which comes with 2 whole chops. I used to think Grand Street Cafe did the best pork chop, but Piropos has them beat. It was the best pork chop of my life. It came with a buttery sauce and mounds of fried garlic. It was fabulous! My hubs enjoyed his encrusted steak too, but it was overcooked (asked for medium rare but it appeared medium). Overall, it was a very good experience with some very good food. Definitely worth visiting again!
