My wife and I get take out from here twice a month. The sushi rice always seems to be at the proper temperature and the fish is fresh. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. Great spot right down the street from our home.

This has become a new favorite! Sushi is great and the fried rice is some of the best we have ever had!

Nice place and great service. Will def be back. Seaweed salad was well done and flavorful. The sashimi was maybe 6-7 out of 10 and the spider roll was very good.

First time to tryout this sushi place. The sushi roll was okay taste regular nothing special, sushi no ginger no wasabi how that happen?. The server gave very bad service don't deserve to get 20% tips but I did anyway. I wanted to order more food but never asking if we want anything else. We only got to ate appetizers only and want to order more sushi but server just asked us if we want a check right away. The server seem careless never check on her table. The restaurant not even busy no reasonable for them not to check to their customers. Got the worst experience ever. The atmosphere is so bad not good for drinking wine. Never going back again. Terrible service bad atmosphere.....

I don't go anywhere else for sushi :) You can't beat the angry dragon roll and an order of crab Rangoon. Plus service is an A+

I'm new to the Northland having moved here a few months ago so as far as saying this is best sushi up here, I feel I can't commit to that statement quite yet. I went with a group of friends for dinner (two of which frequent the place) and had a really good time. Overall the service was attentive and the sushi was delicious! I definitely recommend the monkey roll--it was my favorite out of all the ones we ordered. Kudos for not asking and already having low sodium soy sauce on the table too!

I gave this a 5-star review to balance out a couple unreasonable 1-star reviews. I'm inclined to agree that this is the best sushi in Northtown. If you're willing to overlook a few aesthetic deficiencies it's fantastic dining. My wife and I drive from LEAVENWORTH to eat here, which should say something. Sure, there's a decent sushi place closer to home, but you can't order sake or wine there and they're not open on Sundays. Plus, you don't dine at sushi places to drink Japanese "cocktails" - stick to plum wine or sake. My expecting wife has taken to ordering their bento boxes, which are really quite good. I personally love how they do their eel here - Black Tiger roll is a winner. Their house salad is a nice reinvention of a classic seafood salad. Start with those and work out from there.

Very good sushi. It's probably 3.5, but I rounded up to offset the couple of overly negative reviews. I've eaten here at least a couple dozen times (typically to go), and never had any problems with my order. I'm not an expert, but I've had sushi from at least a dozen places in town and Kome is certainly top 3. Prices are fair as well. If you're in the Northland, you should give it a try.

We went last night for birthday and I'm still a big fan, but man, they are lucky that they make such great sushi. The food was fantastic. We ordered the steamed dumplings which were a little cold, but still good (I'm not sure these are made in house)... and then we ordered the peanut and avocado roll, Paradise roll, Samsa roll, Evergreen roll and thumbs up roll. The sushi was so good. The Paradise roll is almost a dessert roll with banana tempura and a strawberry sauce. The Samsa roll has super fresh red and white tuna (my favorite) and then evergreen roll has fresh cilantro. Loved everything that ordered and loved that these rolls were all brand new to us. Totally new options since the last time we came. However, I had to take away 1 star because the service was just really bad. There was 1 waitress, but only 3 tables taken (Thursday night). There wasn't a sushi menu to write our orders down (not a big deal), but kinda hard to keep track of what we were getting. Waters weren't refilled very quickly and it took the fiance ordering a GLASS of water 3 times to get actual water and not just his tea refilled. It was also really slow to order and we had to remind her that we also ordered a peanut and avocado roll that never came out. They do run a fun promotion that is 10% off and free cheesecake if it is your birthday! However, the cheesecake came out WITH our sushi.. so it just sat there on the crowded table while we dined. I will return, but because the sushi is my favorite. Unique rolls, delicious, fresh fish and priced well. It was just about $50 with the 4 rolls, small roll, tea and pot stickers. Hoping for better service next time! Oh, also the name has changed to Kome Sushi, but the decor is the same and I saw the Zara name on the menu..

Great and inexpensive place for sushi! Service was perfect...not to absent, not overly attentive, the menu pricing is great! They have a large selection of rolls under 5.00 and specialty rolls top out at 11.00! The seaweed salad was fresh and amazing! I'll be back to the little gem in the northland!

Good sushi. They had some unusual combinations. The KC roll was good but strange. I probably wouldn't order it again. Loved the Holy Moly. The service was slow but friendly. Don't order a mixed drink. They don't know how to make them. We ordered a vodka and soda. They had vodka and soda but didn't know how to make the drink. P.S. They have free WiFi.

If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would! The food and service are HORRIBLE! My son ordered shrimp fried rice (his favorite) and I ordered terriyaki shrimp fried rice... the shrimp in both of our dishes were over cooked and seemed freezer burned. The rice was horrible made and overcooked as well. I was going to just eat my dish until my 6 year old son commented, "Mommy... this doesn't taste right" So I told the waitress that both of our dishes were not up to par. She argued with me that, and I quote, "This is how we make our fried rice. People come from all around just to eat our rice" In which I looked around the restaurant and saw NO ONE THERE but my son and I eating this food. She said that since "I ordered it, I have to pay for it and eat it" and walked off. I was more than upset that she didn't even offer to remake my dish. 10 minutes later when she came back by, I asked her to please remake our dishes, she asked me if I'd eat it?! I told her I would. She had the dishes remade and they were better... but the fried rice was still not great. I'll never go to this place AGAIN! The sushi is over priced for the size of their rolls. I'll drive past this place for better sushi. Don't go here, EVER!

OK. .. I'm a sushi fanatic, and I love good sushi. I will tell any northland person that I've done every sushi place in the northland and been unimpressed (Once you've had amazing sushi, average sushi is just nearly poor). I love the drunken fish (in St Louis much more than here in KC). Love RA out south. Love Blue in Omaha, I can go on but... If you are looking for GREAT sushi in KC Kome is absolutely my favorite in the northland, and definitely my #2 in KC (I rank RA higher, but that is mostly because I love the "chips and salsa" they serve, and some of their rolls that have sriracha sauce, which I admittedly use as ketchup - so its not a quality thing, its more of a RA server many more spicy rolls kind of thing) So back to the review, I don't like seaweed salad, but I do like theirs. My wife loves Salmon and attacks their Nigiri, Sashimi and any roll with it with a passion. Me, I'm a tuna lover, and do the same. They have MANY amazing and different rolls there, and so far all have been amazing. They even have a PALEO roll (I forget its name), that has no rice, its all just pure protein and veg. So if you're doing that diet (or atkins), you can go there for sure. Admittedly some of their rolls are a little strange and I'll not order them again - but they were NOT poor, just not to my personal tuna loving taste, or the wife's salmon flavor (I'm personally not a fan of "white tuna"... so I rank any roll with it as something I won't order) This being said, if there is a fish you don't like they are happy to change the roll to your preference. They also have soy paper (and while I'm sure I will anger many sushi fanatics on this topic, I love soy paper. Gives me the flavor of the fish, and not the seaweed) Honestly, the only thing I can say that is negative was their soup had dehydrated onions (which I don't like) in it. but... you're not going to a sushi restaurant for the soup... If they made a minor change and used fresh/cooked onions in their soup it would be perfect (or if you don't mind the texture of dehydrated onions, then you'd be fine) All in, both my wife and I have been there at least 10 times in the past 30 days, and order take out, as well. I'm thrilled to have such a good sushi restaurant in the northland. honestly their only problem is their location. their claim is AWESOME sushi. If you are a sushi lover, and you have not traveled 20 minutes to get there (from wherever you are) then you're missing out. I used to drive 20 minutes south to RA when I craved sushi. Now I drive a few minutes to sleepy parvkille for amazingly good sushi. I've read the other reviews here, and the one that doesn't like the fried food... Um, really?!? You went to a place that serves RAW fish, and you complain about the deep fried stuff.... Uh, really? Head over to Al's bar and grill a couple doors down, and they will serve you an unlimited amount of good fried food. (wait did I say good fried food?) Disclaimer: Its not fancy like RA or Drunken fish... but do you want Decor or Flavor in your sushi? Me, I'll pass on the meat market of RA on a Saturday, and the cool bar of drunken fish.... Give me a superior amazing roll, and I'll be back again and again. Speaking of which, I'm going to head there today for lunch. Trip 11 in 31 days...

I can see why this place does not have a single soul in here. This would be my first and last time dining. If I wanted kids running around the restaurant, crying and screaming then I would have gone to McDonalds or stayed home. Food was average.
