This is one of those places when you're deciding where to go and someone says "hey what about the brass rail," you always say, "yeah that sounds good." Upscale pub fare all done very, very well. I really like the meatloaf, the nachos, and the bleu cheese chips. The beer selection was on par with most bars, with a couple nice selections. The service is always top notch, quick with a drink. Food is timely and hot, and a server is always around when you need one. If you live in O'Fallon is a great place to be a regular, but it's a bit of hike from those who live closer to the city.

Tried the Steakloaf tonight. Wife had the grilled shrimp and roasted potatoes. Beer is cold and service was great.

The Brass Rail is the perfect 2 in 1. It's both a cool bar to hang out at, watch a game, or grab drinks with friends, as well as a nice place to sit down and have a good meal. The blue cheese chips are the bomb. Seriously get them and love them. The filet mignon was very good, but I did not expect it to be the best ever and it wasn't. The chicken wrap was boring and I do not recommend it. The meatloaf is listed as a house specialty and it sure is special. A huge portion and my date loved it so much he cleaned the plate. As far as drinks go, they have a decent sized martini and specialty drink list. The martinis are well portioned and priced. Lets just say I only needed one :) They have a variety of beers on tap and some I have never heard of before which is a nice surprise. We have been here twice and loved it both times. Great service, food, drinks, and atmosphere! If you're in the O'Fallon, MO area definitely check out The Brass Rail.

Had the lunch steak and it's legit. Definitely coming back and try other entrees. Came here on a Sunday and sat right away.

Cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. The service is fantastic and the food is very good. We live nearby and have done lots of takeout from here, as well as dined in as a family and on date nights. Everything is consistently tasty and Scott, the owner, is always adding interesting specials to the menu and seems to really care about the community. Everyone behind the bar is great too, try out a few of the martinis. Some of our favorites are the brass balls, Monterey shrimp (the sauce that comes with this is delicious), fish tacos, and Chicken Philly. Happy to hear they are expanding, because it can get crowded in there on a Friday night. Great place - highly recommend.

Overall, this place is average. I did not eat while we were here, but my wife had the potato skins. I just had a couple of drinks and while they were fine, they were a bit pricey. The atmosphere was nice and clean, but it had the feel of trying to be a bit more upscale than the space enabled. Definitely had a strip mall feel to it as it is in a strip mall. At the end of the day, I would probably come back, especially if several friends were meeting up there, but I would not go out of my way to patronize again.

Wow! What a great menu. Sunday night in Ofallon can be challenging of your looking for adventure. No music! Might as well not waste the energy calling, no one in the are is alive past 6pm on Sunday. Brass Rail, while lacking as the rest in entertainment, is certainly on their way to a good dining experience. Great selection, friendly staff, just hoping the food quality can improve. I had the fish and chips. I'll give it a conservative 7. Needs a little something more, but not bad. My wife had the black and blue......... Sounded incredible on the menu, flavor swerve amazing, quality of meat was along the lines of an old tennis shoe! You could chew this thing for weeks! That blue cheese flavor is the only thing that tempts you to take another bight. I really hope the Brass Rail can find a better meat supplier soon. Looking for good things from this restaurant, but will need some assurance before ordering another piece of cow hide.

This is a great place. The service is awesome and the food is tasty. We were able to order the food custom to meet my wife's picky apatite. We loved this place. We will be back.

Great food, great service. We visited on a busy Friday night and our appetizer took longer to come out than expected. We were enjoying our conversation and didn't really even notice the delay, but our server came by and apologized and told us that the app would be out soon, and that they weren't going to charge us for it. We really enjoyed the food and atmosphere and will return again.

Great place and very unsuspecting. Great drinks and excellent beer selection. Had the salmon, the quality and preparation was unrivaled. Friendly wait staff too. Next time I'm in St. Louis I will be returning. Fabulous little bar and grill.

I eat at the Brass Rail at least two times per week! I tell everyone it is the best food in O'Fallon! The service is always great and Scott (the owner) really cares and always goes the extra mile to make sure my food is exactly like I like it (and I'm kind of picky). Just a tip, order the steak fajitas. You will thank me later! I wholeheartedly recomend The Brass Rail.

If you're looking for a spot to where you can hear the conversation of the person(s) you're with, keep looking. Just got back from dinner with family staying here from out-of-town, decided to go to Brass Rail as it was close to their hotel. Won't do this again. We were seated in a side room that had TVs (that's OK, knew that there was a big TV presence) and of course, a Saturday night; but what WAS frustrating was that there was a speaker directly above us, and the music was cranked up pretty loud (7 on a scale of 1-10). I asked our waitress if she could turn it down a it as we wanted to converse (radical idea, I know) and she said sure. Never did. So I walked over and turned it down (it was right behind our table). We were able to have clear conversation up until the close of our meal, at which point one of the servers walked over and promptly turned it back up to lucky #7. I asked him if he could please turn it down -- by that time the din inside the restaurant was almost deafening with loud families, and the music was not helping things. He grinned and said, "Oh, why don't you go ahead and stay a little while longer?" Seriously? What a snarky response! At that point we were shouting across the table and still not able to hear anything, so it was time to leave. A shame, too, as the food is good. Service and check delivery were a little slow, and also frustrating to see another table sat quite a bit later after us, get their food the same time we did. There are other more welcoming environments to dine in in the area.

I have eaten here many times over the past year and with the new owner, it has finally become one of my favorite places. Service is always good. It seems no matter how busy they get, I always get the attention necessary. Drinks are always refilled and plates cleared in a very timely manner. I have had several dishes for dinner and lunch. When I was there before new ownership, I ordered Chicken once and it was so dry I couldn't eat it. I was very hesitant ordering the chicken again but was glad I did. It was cooked perfectly and the seasoning was excellent. This had me curious as to how the other dishes were. The one thing I really liked from the previous ownership was the ribeye steak sandwich. I was disappointed that it was no longer on the menu. However, after eating several times there, I quickly forgot about that, realistically it was the only good thing on the old menu, and now I have choices!! I love the southwest chicken soup and the crab cakes are the best I have ever had. I had the prime rib which I really liked. The asparagus is seasoned and cooked perfectly each time I have been there. The specials they have for lunch never disappoint. I find the owner very passionate about what he cooks. I applaud his creativity and style. The Brass Rail is now my top casual dining spot in St. Charles county.

One night a few months ago, my friend Eric and I were hanging out at another friend's house. On our way home we decided to go to a local bar and grill for a drink. We are always up to try something new, so we stopped in at The Brass Rail off S. Hwy K. We had both been there before but it had been a couple of years ago for me. I didn't remember anything particularly special about my first visit. It must have not been a good enough experience since I didn't go back for two years. We walked in and it immediately noticed it was a busy night. The only room to sit was two seats all the way at the end of the bar. So we squeezed in and ordered a drink. The bartender asked our names after she got our drink order and bought the drinks quickly. She was very efficient and kept a pleasant smile the entire time we were there, calling us by name each time she addressed us. I noticed that the people around me were consuming some rather delicious-looking meals. Eric and I enjoyed our beverage and conversation; emptied our glasses then went home. A couple of weeks later, I decided to stop in for an encore. The excellent service that Eric and I received had me thinking that I should try the place again, and the memories of the plates of food encouraged me to go at dinner time. I was met at the door by a beautiful greeter; she led me to the bar to take a seat. My server this time was different, but the same smile and efficient service met me as soon as I sat down. She told me about the special; crab cakes. She informed me that they are a specialty of The Brass Rail. Scott, the owner flies in fresh crab just for the crab cakes. I was told that they usually sell out before the evening is over. Being a Midwesterner, I steered away from the seafood and ordered a chicken dish. The food was brought out in a short time and was undeniably delicious. I thought to myself that I would have to come back for dinner again. But before I left, I took notice that indeed, there were many customers enjoying the special. Crab cakes were on most of the tables throughout the restaurant. I believe the greatest impact made on me that night about The Brass Rail was made by the servers. Each waitress, whether behind the bar or navigating the dining area were always wearing smiles, laughing, and having fun. It looked as if they were actually enjoying their time even though they were at work. The next week, a business partner flew into town from Massachusetts. For three days, we spent time around the St. Louis area visiting clients and enjoying a few meals together. It turned out that he is a gastronome like me. Being from the East coast, one of his favorite foods is crab cakes. I immediately thought of The Brass Rail's crab cakes. I told him about the place and he told me what a good crab cake should contain, look and taste like. I tucked that information in the back of my brain, still unsure that I would try any crab cakes anytime soon in Missouri. Scott Ellinger owns The Brass Rail. He has been in the area for about seven years. He has over 20 years of experience in the food industry, some here and some in the Baltimore area. His time spent on the East Coast allowed him to learn veritably how to prepare seafood. And learn he did. The next week found me and Eric back at The Brass Rail. The night's special? You guessed it. Crab cakes. So, I decided to pony up and try the dish. The waitress assured me (with the same beautiful smile I had become used to) that I made a good choice. When the two cakes arrived in front of me, I remembered my East coast friend's description and noted that these cakes passed the first test. They were large, round, and full of crab. In fact, there was so much crab meat in them that one immediately fell apart as soon as the plate was sat in front of me. I dug into the mounds of crab cakes. The taste was amazing. The crab was delicate, creamy, and not a bit fishy tasting at all. The filling was there only to hold the large lumps of crab together and had a spicy, but not overwhelming addition to the crab. I was pleased...and full. I was glad that I took a leap of faith and ordered the dish. It turns out that Scott's time in Baltimore allowed him to clinch his recipe for the titillating dish. Since then I have been back a few times. Each dish I have ordered has been top notch. From the steak to the soup, each meal is scrumptious. The freshly made pub chips are great; and even better when topped with the blue cheese sauce. The service is splendid. The servers are consistently smiling and obviously enjoy what they do. I perpetually feel that whether I am enjoying a meal or just having a drink with a friend, I am at a comfortable place, able to relax and appreciate a little peace in a busy, laborious world. The Brass Rail has quickly become one of my new favorite local places for good food and drink. A random stop at The Bra

Great neighborhood place with good service and above average food. Been there several times as it is close to home and haven't been disappointed yet. The Monday steak special with two sides is a very good deal.

First off the new place isn't bad. But on the other hand it is not great either. I would say the food is average. Three of us went and one had the fish and chips. They looked great but talk about crispy! Way over cooked. The Tilapia had so much seasoning that all you could taste was the seasoning. I had the Sirloin steak and it was cooked just right and tasted very good. So no complaint for the Sirloin. The service was very good. We then tried the Apple Bread Pudding. I must say it would rank among the top 5 I have ever had, except for one thing, the bottom was burnt and made the bottom part taste BAD. Too bad too, because it really was good otherwise. I won't take them off my list of places to go, but I will wait another 3 months before going back and hope they are better.

Place was fairly busy. We ordered a burger, Cuban, meatloaf and a sirloin steak. Drinks took awhile. Burger was good, Cuban was just so so. Meatloaf was weird and wasn't very hot, though the onion straws were very good, no veg, weird. Steak took forever and given different excuses but was very good when it finally came. Place looks good but food wasn't great and slow considering the price. Drinks were weak. I'd go back but for a beer and burger only.

The Brass Rail has great food and a great atmosphere. It is much nicer than what you would expect from the bland strip mall outside. I was pleasantly suprised at the quality of food. It is all cooked to order. The hand cut fries are delicious. I ordered a steak sandwich and it was great. They actually grill a steak and then slice it up to put it on your sandwich, not some premade roast beef type of sandwich. If you are thinking about going, give it a try, you will love it. The cupcakes of the day are great too.

The food some of the best around for a casual place to eat. It's an older crowd and a laid back atmosphere. I love their burgers and the fries. You must eat at this place while in the area.

New owners. AWESOME FOOD! We've been to the new brass rail 5-6 times in the month since we rediscovered it late April cant say enough. Way better than previous owner and nothing like typical bar food. Everything is hand prepared and fresh. Menu is slightly upscale offering and very reasonable prices for what you get. Best salmon ive ever had. Waitstaff is friendly and knowledgeable about menu selections. Nice new modern decor and no video games or jukeboxes are a plus for us. Word is getting out and i'm a raving fan.

Pleased to update my prior review. Scott, the owner, saw my previous review, apologized for the Restaurant.com situation, and offered to honor it for me if I wanted to return. Did so tonight with my 17 year old son. Our server, Serena, was attentive and personable (son thought pretty cute as well), Scott came out and discussed how things were going for him, thanked us again for coming in, food was great. I had the rib eye (hand cut), son had the salmon. My steak was cooked as ordered, a seemingly simple request that usually doesn't happen for me. Got two sides included with each, and they have a great selection available. The garlic smashed potatoes were served in ample portions, guess what's for breakfast tomorrow? Thanks, Scott, glad we got the chance to see the great work you're doing, and see you again soon!

Went to The Brass Rail for a few beers on a Friday night. Beer selection was good, atmosphere was good, and the staff was friendly. We were told the ownership had changed 2 days prior. Most of the menu was unavailable due to it being new. This wasn't a problem as we weren't there for dinner. Will go back again to try the food. Had the cheesy brass balls appetizer which were very good. Non-smoking is a plus.

Great food. I came here with some coworkers for my birthday lunch after a class one day. I had the Cuban. The bread was delicious and all the ingredients were perfectly portioned. I had rice and fries. I wanted to try both. It only came with one but I wanted to try rice. It was very spicy... The fries were great, a little salty but pretty decent. I am a big condiment person; I like mayo on my fries. I asked for some and she brought me a tiny ramekin probably enough for two fries. A little disappointed about that. Not a huge deal. The waitress was friendly. No complaints on staff.

Fantastic meal!! Our server was amazing, wish I could remember her name. When she heard it was our first time there she walked us through the menu, the owners philosophy of food and freshness, their give back to the community and offered suggestions for things to try. Everything we had was great, all meals a success and can't wait to go back and try more!!

Service for a party of 9 was good. Abby was a good server. The quality of the food was overall good. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich which claimed to be crispy in the description. Now...I know it's hard to make buffalo chicken with the right amount of crisp but this was pretty soggy. Prices were decent. I would go back if we are in the neighborhood but I wouldn't go out of my way to make a trip out. *edit, wife got the fish tacos and we were charged an extra $2.00 for guacamole and salsa. *

I am trying to find the words to describe the horror. The gut reaction one experiences when you hear "can we talk?" Is the same way I feel when my server confirmed my order. She disappeared for awhile and I was excited to believe she quit. To our party's disappointment she had not. McDonalds serves better bruschetta and Ahi Tuna, or at least they would. I am typing this before the main course comes, I will need my strength to leave and will not be able to type. The "Grinch" martini causes an instant gag reflex, but in all fairness it was labeled grinch. One star is too many, however I must add one to my eulogy for this "shituation". Oh gotta go my Salisbury steak TV dinner just showed up oh boy.

I really liked the food. But we went with a larger party 8 people. And our waitress didn't even come check on us to see if the food was to our liking. I mean she probably made atleast 100$ tip off of us she could have atleast asked

The three sisters went for lunch before a shopping extravaganza last Friday. We needed sustenance. Big Sis got the "you pick two" -- she selected the soup of the day, Harvest Chicken Soup; and 1/2 of a turkey Rueben. Little Sis got chicken wrap. I got the Brass Cheeseburger ($8) -- an 8-oz. grilled burger (I skipped the bun.) served with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles. Broccoli as the side. Many other side options were available. We all liked our food. Big Sis gave me a taste of her soup, and it was so tasty, cheesy, full of vegetables and chicken. AND, it was a bowl --not a cup, that you usually get in a "you pick two." My burger was fabulous. The pickles were dill chips, so dilly and crunchy. The broccoli was steamed perfectly and was beautifully green. Service was good. This is a pretty small restaurant. Lots of front bar space with high-tops, but just four booths and two tables for dining. We were in a back table, extremely close to the facilities, which was OK, since I drank two huge glasses of diet cola. AND I got a to-go beverage, as well as a to-go vessel of half my meal -- which served well as dinner.

Great food! We have been in other times and it was always good~ The fried Mozzarella is my reason for living~ The Diamond Margarita need more love .. A little shake and strain over ice would of sealed the deal on this ~ The place is very spacious and clean~ Food was hot and prepared deliciously .. I ordered one of their bread puddings to go and 'wowza'.. EXCELLENT~ a great place to gather~

I frequent Happy Hour here and even though there are no appetizer specials, the drink specials make up for it. The Lemondrop martini here is my "go to" drink of choice. I've several items on the menu, but my appetizer of choice is the Chicken Potato Skins, no BBQ Sauce and a side of Ranch. They also offer the skins with pulled pork, which is good too. I haven't had a bad meal or drink here yet!

The only reason I am not giving this place five stars is because of the service. The coconut shrimp was big and juicy and succulent!! Worth the 10 bucks it cost for sure!! The dipping sauce needed a bit of help. It tasted like orange marmalade right out of the jar, too thick that when I dipped my shrimp it pulled off the crunchy cocunit goodness! By adding coconut milk or a bit of pineapple juice it would have thinned it to a better consistency. A bit of red pepper flakes for a touch of heat would be nice. But that's just me! The garden salad was really good as well. Good greens, tomatoes, cheese, cucumbers and croutons! Nicely done! Crisp and cold. I didn't try house dressings..I was craving old school 1000 island! Of course it didn't stand up to my Mommas! My 5 dolla dirty martini hit the spot!! The service wasn't the best! My salad arrived when the shrimp did and my Tabasco onion straws never showed. Which is a good thing because I was stuffed with those honkin big shrimp!! The servers personality and sincere apologies were a plus and really made me forget that my ruffage didn't show up first! She was good I could tell..it was just really busy...Or slammed as most wait staff says. I've been there sister!! Still tipped about 35% because like I said....I've been there!! I miss waiting tables! Best job in the world!! Go eat there and enjoy!!

The hubby and I were looking for some good bar food when I took to yelp for suggestions. We made a great choice when we went to The Brass Rail. Everything was great! If u like blue cheese-the Blue cheese chips are a must! My husband had a burger and fries which he enjoyed. I had the rueben with asparagus as my side. Both were wonderful! We will definitely be returning to try more items!

I love this place! It is the perfect go to place for watching a game, unwinding after work, or hanging with friends. The appetizers are hand breaded or crafted such as fried Mozz, coconut shrimp, brass cheese balls. The bruschetta, Ahi tuna take it over the top. The crab cake is the best in the Lou, better than Bristol. Scott has amazing specials every night including a fresh catch which is always unique and well prepared. Their hand cut steaks are divine. The gem is the prime sirloin. THE BEST PART OF THE RAIL is the service. The servers treat you like family, and are very attentive. The best place is the Bar where the bartenders will give solid recommendations for a specialty drink, craft beer suggestion, or off menu food ideas. It is the warmest, friendliest place in town that happens to have the best food too.

Brass Fail Server was nice otherwise a single star experience. Getting seated was a bit of a fiasco despite the place not being very busy at the time. Very dry and salty burger. Ordered medium, got very well done. Someone does not know how to prepare food. Save your money.

I have visited the Brass Rail for the past two weekends for dinner with family and friends. Overall I felt the food was pretty good. Our group did the "all you can eat" crab legs. This special does not come with anything else, just the legs. It wasn't bad but most of the clusters lacked a lot of flavor. So that was a little disappointing. It is a lot cheaper than most specials found for crab legs. The other visit I had the steak sandwich was really good. Overall this place isn't bad but nothing over the top that would make me drive farther to eat there.

I can't really say that I was a big fan of the restaurant in the first place. Once we had drinks spilled all over my kids and me and last night my wife had food poisoning from the dinner. Overall, drinks are overpriced, service really slow, and food is not that great. In the last 3 years the place really got worth. We will not be going back any time soon.

The Brass Rail is the bomb.com . Cheesy I know - But it's the truth. My husband and I would eat there every night if we could afford it. My husband is VERY picky about his food and loves everything about this place. I myself love it too. All the food that we have had over the years has been AMAZING. Their chicken potato skins are to die for. My go to is their chicken parmesan - DELISH! The sandwiches and salads are also very yummy. My husband services their kitchen equipment and he talked to the chef - all the food they serve is fresh and cooked as you order. They don't just heat the food up and slap it onto a plate unlike places that you see on Bar Rescue. All of the employees are polite. Very informative. I have never had a problem with service. The restaurant itself is a little on the small side but I know that they have expanded a little so hopefully we won't have to wait as long to be seated. If you are thinking about trying this place out I would tell you to definitely go for it! If you don't.. you are surely missing out. This is by the far the best food that I personally have ever had.

What impresses me the most about the brass rail is the consistency and how they go the extra mile. It doesn't matter what restaurant I go to, I always order a grilled chicken breast and veggie. Other locations don't compete with the flavor I get every time here. They throw a spectacular wild rice into the mix that pairs great with the chicken and broccoli. This establishment is always on point (Food and Service), and hats off to whoever owns it. Last week I needed a gift for my parents anniversary and I know for sure they will enjoy the $50 brass card I gave them. Cheers. - Chris B

We drove 40 miles to stop and eat here and they did not disappoint. Their were 4 of us and 3 of us had steak and the other had grilled shrimp. I would say our steaks were very tender and grilled just as we ask them to be. The garlic mashed potatoes were great and very creamy. We were early in evening so the crowd was light but the service was good. We will be back.

Potato skins with grilled chicken were delish. Full rack of ribs was top notch. Server was pleasant, but service was a wee bit slow and the temp in the restaurant was a bit on the chilly side. Should have worn a sweat shirt even though its July. I'd recommend the restaurant. Good food.

I've been twice. First time was excellent! Second time, eh not so much. Our group was seated by a friendly hostess, and there we sat for 15 minutes before our waitress appeared. After quickly taking our drink order, we didn't see her again for 10 more minutes. Keep in mind, the restaurant was not very busy at this time. After receiving our drinks (finally!) we placed our food order. My husband ordered salmon, I ordered a filet medium. Both of our meals were over cooked, and very poorly seasoned. This was a very different experience from our first visit (which is why I'm giving three stars), we MIGHT try it again, but honestly I don't think I want to risk having another bad experience...

Great food, worst service I have ever had at a restaurant. The hostess was trying to seat people in the atrium on a 95 degree day, which basically turns the place into a sweat box. The tables, as you walk in, are so close it is impossible to navigate between them, and the wait staff is forgetful and disinterested in their customers.

Always pleased with the food but last two times I was in the service was awful, we had to hunt down a server and they seemed irritated that we asked, after 15 min of sitting and then she was in such a hurry we couldn't keep her attention for a second, there looked like plenty of help and the food was very good but almost walked out twice now due to service. Hope things change or its not worth the $

Love it! The food and service were amazing. I had the salmon, daughter had the noodles, and my husband had the ribeye. We all really liked our meals. My daughter has a lot of allergies and they were very helpful finding something she could have. We will be back!

Restaurant was nice and clean. Sports bar type atmosphere in the main setting area. A little noisy in that area too but the food is delicious! The server was good and attentive. The pork barbecue nachos were amazing!

Me and my Fiance heard some good things about this place so decided to check it out. I thought that the food and service was really good. I just had a burger and loved it! The only thing I have to complain about is we were told it would be 15 minute wait and it took us a little more than 45 minutes to get seated. The lobby was very small to wait for a table and even though a guy I was talking to said they don't take reservations we watched two couples walk in and get seated before us saying they called in a spot. I heard they are expanding it which is good because they need it as the place looks like it is in good demand. We will go back for sure but not on a Friday or Saturday night.

This place had excellent food and service! I am very glad that we gave this a try. We will definitely be back.

Good drinks, good atmosphere, good food. The steak quesadilla was awesome, as was the pulled pork sandwich with spicy sauce. They have a great drink selection (including my favorite Angry Orchard cider).

Great food, service is good 1 out of 5 times. Stop by 1/3/15 for a drink, they weren't busy, it took 10 minutes for someone to take our order, never saw the waitress again, had to flag another one down, one waitress was making out with some guy.

My family adores the Brass Rail! Our friends are constant regulars and after our first time we became regulars also. We can't get enough of their potato skins, and fried mozzarella. And we always finish the evening by getting some bread pudding. Our grandmother used to cook bread pudding for restaurants, so we know the good stuff and the Brass Rail has it. The waitresses are always nice and the drinks are always well done. A great place all around!

This was our first time coming in, and it will definitely not be our last. Good was great and service ess even better! I had the Cuban sandwich and it was one of Tue best I have ever had. The bleu cheese chips appetizer is amust!

The Brass Rail has expanded their seating capacity since I was last there. Dinner rush was about a 30 to 45 minute wait. We grabbed a couple of martinis at the bar to pass the time. Cocktails were good. The jalapeño cheese bites were a little above average. Unfortunately they were out of their fresh mozzarella. Chicken and shrimp pasta was very good. The steak wrap had good flavor but was poorly wrapped. We will try it again.

I stopped in the Brass Rail at the suggestion of an ex-coworker of mine. We both work for the same company, different locations, and after a few texts exchanged it was apparent that both of us were in need of some liquid courage and a good long bitch fest about the job. When I walked in the door I felt a bit under dressed, seems the crowd here at least on a Tuesday night around 7pm tends to be business professional. It appeared as most of the patrons were wrapping up their day at the office. As they trickled out, a more casually dressed crowd began to replace them, so I felt a bit better. The menu is extensive, spanning BBQ offerings, smoked Salmon, burgers, and a variety of other dishes that I cannot recall at the moment. Forgive my lack of memory, but remember, this was a night meant for drunken conversation about where the bosses could go (in our own minds). After several 22oz Blue Moons on draft, I cannot recall many details from the rest of the night! The parts of the evening I can recall are first the Chili. I had about a 30 minute wait when my friend got held up at work, so I ordered a cup of the chili as an appetizer and it was fantastic. I regretted not ordering the whole bowl of chili, but decided that my next visit I would be ready for the larger portion. The BBQ pulled pork was for me a bit disappointing. I'm not a huge fan of pulled pork to begin with, but I have been riding a trend this year of really good BBQ and decided to give it a shot. I think the sandwich was fine, it just wasn't the best or even in the top 5 of pulled pork sandwiches I've had recently, and for that I was left wishing I had gone with a simple burger. In all, service was fantastic, especially while I waited for my friend to arrive. Our waitress kept our beers full, table cleared, and didn't push us out the door when we stopped drinking and eating. We both needed a good hour or so to let the food settle and the beer to lose its effect, and besides, the Blues game wasn't over yet so we stuck it out and kept up the whining about the job. I'll be back again to try some of the other offerings on the menu, and also for my bowl of chili. Until then, they are a solid 3 stars in my mind if only for the lack of flavor in the food. Nothing really stood out about the Brass Rail for me to give it the extra 2 stars at this point, but that leaves plenty of room for me to be impressed the next time around!

We chose this place randomly because we were too hungry to actually decide. We loved it so much that I am writing this review as I sit at this place for the second night in a row! And we just ordered the same thing as we did last night: fish tacos (AMAZING!) and the southern barbecue chicken salad (the most meat I have ever seen on a salad!). The atmosphere is really great. We sat outside in the atrium (both nights). It is outside seating that is separate from the outside smoking section. The music is also pretty great! We will definitely be back again.

I have eaten here many times and each experience has been amazing! Their Chicken Caesar Salad is one of the best salads I have ever had. The Bacon Cheeseburger is very good as well. Overall, this was restaurant is great!

We have never had a bad meal here. It gets a bit crowded, but that is common with good places to eat. The new expansion should help.

Huge portions, fresh, high quality food, extensive menu, great service, good prices. I've never been disappointed here, except when I can't get a table. The place is in the small side and always packed.

Love their fish tacos. Came today specifically to get them and they did not disappoint! The fish is delicious and whatever they use as the sauce is a knock out. Get it with guacamole! Yummo!!

We had a very nice visit. Both the food and service were very good It was a late dinner on a Friday night and the staff was still all over it. Hawaiian kabobs and black and blue sirloin tips we're both delicious. I look forward to going back in trying to items.

I love this place! Besides incredible food, I've always had fantastic service. Being in the food service industry myself, it really makes the woke dining experience better when you have a combo of deliciousness and personality. Thank you, Albert!

Absolutely amazing food. The cuban is unbelievable. My girlfriend says the ruben is the best she has ever had. The buffalo chicken sandwich is killer too.

I travel for work and so I eat alone often. I hate when places try to sit me at the bar. I walked in here and was told to "sit anywhere I liked". Maggie was my waitress and was very friendly. When she found out it was my first time there she was great about explaining some of the features and make recommendations. I had the 7oz steak and crab cake with sautéed mushrooms and asparagus for my sides. Steak was cooked perfectly and the crab cake had large chunks of crab. Will definitely eat here again when I am back in town for work.

We made the mistake of ordering steak at a bar type restaurant. We ordered the filet because the server told us it was usda prime cut filet, which was definitely not the case. The filet was very thin, more of a choice sirloin instead. The crab cakes were very different, came out in a big ball, then sprinkled with Old Bay seasoning, not very good. The mushrooms for the side tasted like they were from a can, but the mashed potatoes were ok. We sat outside because the inside is very small and hard to maneuver around, plus the weather was good. Our table had speakers directly above us and they were just way too loud, but they turned it down so we can hear each other. The outside seating is directly next to the parking lot which doesn't really appeal to us, but at least it was a beautiful night in June. If you go just make sure you order typical bar food or just drinks...but I doubt we will be back.

Really depends on what you get here. The steak sandwich is great. Burgers good. Fries are a decent fresh cut. The pretzel appetizer is pretty weak. $8 for three sticks and the worst queso sauce for dipping I have ever had. Nice atmosphere and friendly service.

A group of us had lunch recently. The food was excellent and the portions were extremely generous. The Buffalo chicken was enough for two meals and the pulled pork was amazing. Service was also top notch - all at a reasonable price.

One of our favorite places for dinner - recently expanded but still very busy and usually a wait for a table. You won't regret trying - great food!

Service was exceptional and food was outstanding. Warm bar atmosphere. I had lunch here 7/10/14 when attending a workshop in this area. While being seated, we told the server we were short on time. I was so impressed with the attention he gave us to ensure we made our deadline. Offered quicker menu suggestions, ensured someone took our order right away, brought bills (split checks? No problem.) then promptly returned to get payments. On top of great service, the entire table loved their food. I had french dip & sauteed spinach. Both were amazing, but the spinach was what made me realize, I must come back here. Sauteed just right. Great flavor without being mushy. Roast Beef was also so yummy. Bread and jus set tender roast beef off. I'm not usually in O'Fallon, but I wrote this review so if I ever happen back, I can remember this place and return.

I have liked everything I've tried here. The staff is also really nice. There's a good sized patio outside and great location off of hwy k. Whatever dessert that has 7 different chocolates is to die for!

We love this place . We went here a few years back and the food was decent but nothing special to bring us back again . We stopped in 2 months ago to grab a drink and things have changed !! We have probably been there at least 8 times in the last two months . We have loved everything we have tried ... My favorites so far are ; the cheesy brass balls ( don't love the name though ) , the steak nachos , and the pastas have all been great as well . The staff is super friendly and the service is great . The only down side is that the space is small so if you have to wait for a table there is no room to move . Apparently everyone else has figured out what a great place this is so if your not there by 600 pm expect a wait especially on Friday nights

The service was great, which is hard to come by these days. We both ordered their popular USDA prime sirloin - it was said to be one of their best sellers. It was so, so disappointing. It was dry, tough, and had no flavor at all. We ended up dousing it in A-1 to give it any flavor. My husband got the house cut fries. They were so salty, we couldn't eat them. My broccoli was so bland, I had to add salt. So weird. We really wanted to like it, but it just wasn't good. :(

Went here with family Saturday night and place will get return visits. Friendly quick staff, clean, huge menu with lots of options! Went with the Hawaiian steak kabob, delicious! Wife had a pasta, fil went with fish tacos, and mil went steakloaf. All said their meals were very good and they would like to return as well! I seen lots if like to try. As for prices I seen cheap and pricey options depending on the mood.

Here for business with my wife and found this place. The service was prompt and courteous. We had sirloin tips one night and they were great. We heard the crab cakes were special so we had them as an appetizer. They were good. Try the place -it was good

Nachos are a meal for two! I have never had someone ask how I want my steak cooked on my nachos until today. Wish I could tell you how the rest of the meal was but we will be taking it go after eating this pile of nachos!

Small place that is always packed. The girls at the desk don't seem to be terribly capable of seating people appropriately. The first time I visited was for a friends birthday and they shoved 12 people into a space for 8 people next to the bathroom, which was awful and ridiculous. I was willing to say that was a fluke, but when I visited again we were seated in a booth in that area and noticed another poor table crammed into the same horrible corner complaining. Besides that bit of messy the rest of my experience has been good. We had a nice waiter who was helpful and attentive. Enjoyed the strawberry blond drinks, yum! The strawberry blonde I believe they were puréed strawberry and vodka and lime served in a hurricane glass. I cannot remember what I ate the first visit but the second visit we had a variety of appetizers. Bbq potato skins were yummy and different, blue cheese chips that needed more cheese and possibly buffalo sauce, but still tasty. The famed brass nachos with pulled pork were awesome. Decent food if you get a place to eat it, I cannot agree that it's a classic steakhouse because I think classic steak houses have tablecloths and are more traditional. I think it's a nice bar with good food some that happen to be steaks. Will go back just not when its peak time and not with a large group

This place has more upside than down. It has a good drink menu, good atmosphere and extremely friendly and accommodating staff. My wife and I went here for the first time recently and we will be coming back. That being said this place has a few flaws. When you are handed a menu it will lead you to believe this is a steakhouse and I'm not sold on that identity. My wife ordered the sirloin that was first severely overcooked and on the second attempt was cooked better but wasn't impressive. Let me be clear though our waitress and the manager on duty went above and beyond to make sure that we we were taken care of and their service and care was very impressive. My meal, the buffalo chicken pasta was very good and I recommend it to anyone. I ordered the half order and it was a full meal. Check this place out.

Saturday afternoon should be a good time to stop by for lunch, but it wasn't. Food was mediocre, fries were burnt, service slow. Won't be back. We'll stick with BCs for nutritious, well prepared food.

We've tried eating here two previous times. The first time my son had fallen asleep as we pulled in the parking lot and the second the wait was going to be too long. We tried again tonight and we are glad we did. The food was fresh, delicious, and a great value. The atmosphere was lively, but not overwhelming. It had a good sports bar type feel, without feeling like you had to be into the game. There was a bit of a wait for the entrees to be delivered but not unreasonable for the quality of the food. The portions were great and service was very attentive.

Let me just say, we have really enjoyed coming here over the past few months, but tonight was definitely different. We noticed the parking lot was very busy when we arrived, but had heard that they had a recent expansion and thought it couldn't be that bad. Arrived at 6:00 pm and was told we would have a 35-40 min wait. After just over an hour we were notified via text that our table was ready. We were shown our table in the expanded part of the restaurant, which looked like a cold, generic banquet room that had two large tables set for two large parties - about 12 at each table and two 4 tops. Our table was next to a black curtain. The waitress came and introduced herself and I asked if they expected large parties in the room. She said they did. We didn't have any interest in being part of someone else's party, so we decided to leave. We have always enjoyed coming here and a large part of that is the ambience in the restaurant. There is no ambience in the back room. Wait for a table in the original part of the restaurant.

I enjoy the attentive service, where they ask you for your name and introduce themselves. And the great menu, from the salmon salad to the Cuban sandwich. Still exploring the menu and the bar menu. Have yet to find something I do not like. I like trying their new beers on tap.

The Brass Rail is less than a mile from my place. I tried it for the first time based on a rec from a friend. I have since been at least a dozen times. The place is outstanding. I love the classy yet unpretentious atmosphere. The place is always clean and has a nice upscale feel for a neighborhood place. The food is excellent. I have tried everything from the filet mignon to sliders to wraps to pasta to fried mozzarella and then some. I have yet to be disappointed. Everything has been great. Once they forgot the bacon for my bacon cheeseburger, but quickly brought out 2 pieces on a plate. I wish they had taken the whole burger back and done it right, but that's literally the only thing that's ever gone wrong. Ever. The wait staff is always friendly and patient. I usually go at lunch and spend a lot of time inside working on my laptop. Despite being one person at a four-top the wait staff always treats me like family. Never any pressure, always making sure I've got what I want, not caring how long I stay, etc. They always have sports on a few flat screens, and decent music playing. I cannot recommend this place enough. I've seen a couple of bad reviews, but they are from one-time visitors. As said, I've eaten here 12 times and have never had anything but a great experience.
