We had a heck of a time deciding what to order for breakfast here, lors of imaginative variations, many topped with hollandaise sauce. Service was prompt, even though they were slammed on a Saturday morning, good coffee, reasonable prices. Nice addition to Ofallon's dining options.

We recently moved to O'Fallon from St. Charles, and were anxious to adopt a new breakfast joint. Our favorite 'breakfast nook' is now too far to drive for us, Gingham's Restaurant (read my review of it if you would like some reference), so we decided to give Ham n'Egg a chance when the folks were in town. The atmosphere is definitely greasy spoon, with decor created by fifth graders (with no budget) it seemed. When you walk in you are greeted with stares from other restauranteurs, as the door opens up almost on top of the first table for 6. They like to pack you in like sardines here, so if you are from a big city, you'll feel right at home. We were greeted right away and offered a table without delay. This isn't a place you want to take a toddler. We have a 21-mo old, and they do not offer crayons, paper like most places. But that is second to the fact that this place is small, and the acoustics aren't kid-friendly...making every small tantrum seem like a larger one. There's just no place to pick up your child and remove them from the situation for a while...save going outside maybe. One thing we noticed right away was the small coffee cups. They looked like large shot glasses with handles (ok, maybe not that bad, but very small). No on-table coffee pots here, which was a disappointment...we were used to that, and any respectable cafe-aholic needs the coffee pot handy when they need it. The coffee itself was very fresh and flavorful. The service however was slow, due to how busy they were, which made our coffee delivery very sluggish : / The menu is vast and the food is reasonably priced. We ordered the steak and eggs and some skillet breakfasts. The steak was excellent, and the skillet breakfast was tasty. One thing that struck me as odd was that the 'skillet' breakfast was served on a regular 'plate'. Anywhere I've ever eaten skillet breakfasts, they've always been served in a skillet. The eggs on everyone's entree were overcooked, unfortunately. So in short, I think we'll drive the extra 20 minutes to frequent our 'old' breakfast nook, and save this one if we're in a time crunch.

I usually am a fan of breakfast joints such as this, but I was not pleased. It was very busy, so I thought it was a good sign, but no. The wait wasn't too long, but we were seated at a table with other people. The inside of this place was so cramped. People sharing tables with strangers, which I'm personally not a fan of. The food came quickly, but I have to say, it was the greasiest meal I've been served in a while. Everything was covered in a thin layer of grease. Their home fries, were just so slimy. I wouldn't go here again.

Really good spot for breakfast. Fairly small place but never had to wait long at all. Great service!

Fantastic greasy spoon kind of breakfast joint. Expect a wait on weekends during prime breakfast hours.

Came here with a friend Sunday around 10am for breakfast (the weekend of the National Clydesdale Sale). We only had to wait a few minutes for a table. A 6-top opened up so we offered to share it with the people who were behind us in line. Breakfast with strangers! Highly recommend--you never know who you'll meet. Anyway, I had scrambled eggs, toast, and potatoes. It was all really good. The potatoes could have been a little crispier and I would prefer real butter on my toast (it comes pre-buttered and on the menu they say they use non-cholesterol butter? What's that? I just want regular butter, please). I'll definitely go back next time I'm in town. Friendly service, good breakfast, nice strangers, and fair prices.

As far as St. Charles county breakfast, Ham & Egg can't be beat for price, speed and service. Southern skillet is where it's at. Just make sure you're either early or willing to wait as it only seats about 25 and there's usually only 1-2 waiters. Decent for kids but bring something for them to do - they won't have anything.

This is a great place for breakfast or lunch. It is small but worth the wait if you have to. Everyone is friendly and this place is affordable.

Got no services multiple tables sat down after us, and received service instantly. We ended up walking out.

Awful experience. Walked in ahead of two other groups that were seated & ordered while I was still standing there like I was invisible. Terribly run restaurant, left before bothering to order.

Worst service I've ever had the displeasure of experiencing. My husband and I sat for 15 minutes at a table with no service and no acknowledgement of our presence before we finally got up and left. I can't speak to the quality of the food, but I'm certain that it wasn't worth the poor service by dirty wait staff.

Great place for breakfast. Very small and sometimes you have to wait but good food and all the waitstaff are friendly. My favorite has to be the Country Fried Steak. The Gravy is awesome and the hasbrowns were nice and crispy, just how I like them. I've also had a ham and cheese omlet which was also very good.

This is the BEST place for breakfast hands down. Raised in NJ I know what good breakfast is. Having diners on every other corner and tasting each one of them when growing up (believe when I say all of them). I consider myself a breakfast aficionado, breakfast is the only meal I never miss and I savor it as it was my last meal. The owners are the best and when it comes to servers Cathy is the one you want! (their all great but Cathy has been my server for quite a while. My friends and I go there so often that I think the chairs we sit in have taken in the imprints of our butts. Bottom line, this is the best. You will not regret it. I know that this is my second review for this place but 1 is not enough.
