This place is incredible! Aside from the fact that I love bakeries to begin with because my grandparents run one and I get all kinds of nostalgic when I smell break baking... if you put all of that aside, you would still love GH because of the delicious baked goods and the top notch customer service! My husband and I only intended to stop by La Cosecha for some coffee, but since they share a space with GH, we wandered over to check out what they had. There's a great variety of bread and the things we tasted were great! We had a breakfast bread thing (I don't really remember what it was actually called) with potatoes at the bottom and kind of like scrambled eggs on top. We also tried the beer bread, which had melted cheese on top and tasted so good we bought a loaf! The other awesome thing besides the bread, which seemed to be of very high quality, was the owner. He was so friendly and he answered all of our questions happily. You could tell he loved his business and loved working with people. He even cut us slices to sample from a loaf of bread that wasn't on the sample table, just because we wondered what it tasted like. Two thumbs up for exceptional customer service!
The Great Harvest Bread Company shares it's space with La Cosecha Coffee Roasters. These two companies compliment each other perfectly. Fresh, delicious baked goods with great coffee, perfect for any day. The guy behind the counter, which I'm assuming was the owner, was very friendly and offered us samples of the pumpkin bread and the cinnamon roll. I tried the pumpkin bread, and it was very moist and packed with pumpkin flavor. My wife and I ended up getting some sort of savory bread item with egg and bacon on top. It was pretty good, probably would try something else next time though. After finishing this bread item, we took a look around at the various goods the bakery had to offer. One of the employees saw me peeking as they were making their loaves. She invited my wife and I back for a closer look. The employees were very friendly and really seemed to enjoy what they were doing, even though they had be at work at 4 or 5 in the morning. There were tons of delicious smells back there, and we saw some cinnamon rolls bigger than our heads! The owner talked to us a little bit about the company and mentioned how Schlafly had allowed them to use their pale ale to make some of their bread. The owner asked if I wanted to have some, and I looked at my wife because I thought he was asking me to buy the whole loaf and I didn't know if she was okay with that. But he said he was just planning to open a loaf up just for us to try and also allow others to try. I was definitely down for that. He cut us a slice, and... wow... just wow, that bread was delicious! He said they didn't use any water when making it, just beer, that's my kind of bread! I instantly said we would take a loaf. It was a little more than I was used to paying for bread, $8, but well worth it. (We finished the loaf in two days =X) After that, we looked around a little more. I heard the owner talking to another customer, and it was just so cool how passionate he was about baking bread. He was describing different breads, their different flavors, and the different ways you could use them. Passionate, caring employees and great products, that's why I'm giving this place five stars.
You walk in the door and you can smell the coffee and the bread. I was offered samples and tried a banana / strawberry bread that was TO DIE FOR!! I really wanted a sandwich.. and thought I'd find something but right when I was getting a bit bummed out.. out of the oven come these sandwich rolls. I ordered the Ham and Swiss.. it was awesome. Maybe I didn't look well enough, but there were no iced coffee drinks.. soda and water are also available. I bought bread to take home, can't wait to try that!

Marco's opened up this week & I'm already loving it! Their pizza is great- I'd recommend the Meat Supremo with Old World Pepperoni. Take advantage of all 3 of the free crust toppers! Their sides are great too. I really love their cheezy bread & cinnasquares. Their prices are good, plus if you get a large pizza you get a free rental next door at Family Video! I'll definitely order from Marco's again soon!!
This is the first time I've been. I got three extra large pizzas and chicken wings.the meat lovers is good, the cheese is good ,the chicken wings need to be cooked longer . they're not crispy enough for my family. The nice thing about Marco's pizza is that if it's raining or snowing or you don't feel like going out of the house you can call them order pizza and order movies and they would deliver both and then they will come back and pick up the movies. That is a great idea for grandparents watching the grand kids. Overall I give Marco's pizza four and a half stars out of five I do like that they have thick or thin crust, I am so tired of thin crust. Yes I would go back again.

I Like it!! Pretty simply put, it is Beer and Billiards. I haven't been here for several years and we figured we would give it a shot. Nothing fancy with the beers but they do have a good selection for good prices and they are cold (probably 20+ ranging from pool hall beer to some ciders and Guiness). The tables played great. They are Coin-op and there are several which made getting on a table a breeze. They have one table meant for Challenges, which is nice when you are on a date, you don't have to deal with people trying to steal your table from you all night. The reason I went to this place in the past is because Porters Friend Chicken is next door, which is my favorite in the St. Louis area. If I lived a little closer this would be my hangout. A couple beers and pool for Happy Hour and Porters to take home!!
You can tell this place is owned and operated by a pool player. The tables are kept in top notch condition. I play league there and when we venture elsewhere for tournaments we can tell a big difference in the tables. Also, the bartenders are great and the place is very clean. Not a lot on the menu (pizza and pretzels) but they keep a stash of delivery menus for those long days or nights of play. Oh and lots of tvs to keep up with StL sports teams while you play pool.
What a great place for a group on my boyfriend's b-day. We were having a heck of a time finding somewhere with open pool tables. It was quiet enough to talk with a juke box to amuse in between turns. Bartender was also very friendly.

Jimmy John’s

Their sandwiches aren't all that freaky... but they are good. Really the sandwiches are a bit plain. Plain bread, albeit fresh and good. Simple ingredients... typically lettuce, tomatoes, and meat on each grinder. I think you can dress them up a bit, but I like them just how they come. JJ's is better than subway, but can't hold a match to a traditional deli. However, their food comes out fast, and I've never had problems here.
Jimmy Johns may be freaky fast, but I was freaky fast too as I plowed threw my Turkey Tom. Turkey, lettuce, tomato, alfalfa sprouts, and mayo. I added all of their freebies that weren't already in my subwich; onion, sliced cucumber, Dijon mustard, oil & vinegar, and oregano. It was as freaky good as it was freaky fast. My Dad got their J.J. Gargantuan; Genoa salami, sliced smoked ham, Capicola, roast beef, turkey, provolone, onions, mayo, lettuce, tomato, & Italian dressing on their thick sliced 7 grain bread. It was freakin huge! Even the man who invented the clean plate club had a hard time putting this subwich away...I had to help =) It's a lot of meat, almost too much for me. I couldn't really differentiate between which meat was which, there was so much flavor going on. J.J's is really only good for subwich's, they don't have much other than that.
I work at a nearby computer repair store, so I come here a lot for those quick lunches. The lunch time crew is great. They are always freaky fast, and typically know my order before I place it. They're all really fun people too, so I'm a big fan and will continue to visit.

Maya Cafe

The Maya rocks. Great food, great music, great decor and great atmosphere. I recommend the Fish Tacos and the Enchiladas. Both are terrific. They also have a coffee and brown sugar rubbed pork steak at dinner that is amazing. I've been going there for a long time and I have never had a bad meal. Much of the interior art is from local legend Bill Christman, so the place has a fun feel. If you go in the summer, be sure to check out the back deck, which is a 60 foot+ steel fishing boat. Dining while kicking back listening to some great live music on the boat, while enjoying one of their world class margaritas (which I think are the best in town) is the perfect way to spend an evening. They typically have roots-based blues, rock and folk and I'm always surprised at how good the music is, considering it is such a small venue.
Definitely not latin food. It was a funny interpretation using few Hispanic ingredients and imagination. The food was good though, but I'll classify more like fusion-ish. Also, there was a band there (which was setting up and most of the time) but it ended up being really loud. It didn't really bother us since we were on the way out by the time they started. If you don't like loud places though, check to see if they will have live music that day. Also the music wasn't latin either, but why would it be at a fusion-ish place. ;)
The fiance loves their handmade margaritas and I love their Schlafly taps! Not your typical chips & salsa: a homemade blend of diced tomatoes, onions, chilies, vinegar offers a nice change from your average Mexican restaurant. I have been to Maya numerous times and have yet to be disappointed with the food or service. The enchiladas and cerdo en chile verde are great.

Las Palmas

7356 Manchester Rd
Maplewood, 63143
Reviews:
Las Palmas has some pretty good Mexican food this side of town! Now, I generally like to judge a Mexican restaurant on their salsa and their margaritas, but for Las Palmas, I cannot fail to mention their fajitas, as well. Let us begin with chips and salsa. It is adequate, a little spicy and, at times, not chunky enough for my liking. Their chips are good, but many times they are not the quickest to serve you a second helping (which is probably in my best interest, but at the time makes me very hungry). Round 2, margaritas! Las Palmas has excellent margaritas. They really get into their recipes, too. Throughout the seasons, I know I've tried a cranberry margarita here and a watermelon one, also. They also have good pitcher options to share amongst friends! Well, the moment I've been waiting to tell you about- the fajitas. They have a delicious steak fajita (the chicken is a bit bland). But they have this meal for two under the fajita section for two- it is steak, chicken, shrimp, chorizo, with onions and peppers in the skillet. And you get the tortillas and guac and sour cream. It is excellent! Again, the chicken part is usually avoided by both parties involved in my case, but the other components are amazing! Service here is good. It is incredibly fast, which is sad sometimes as I like to take time on my meal and enjoy good company! The atmosphere is typical Mexican restaurant. Sometimes, you are seated up front by the big window and you feel like you are on display to all the world! But it is okay.
Had dinner with my boyfriend here tonight, and it was a good time! (+): - Free chips & salsa (which had a nice kick to it!) - Queso ($3.75) came out hot and pretty tasty, came with a nice amount of chiles. - Enchiladas verdes ($9.50) were good. The green rice was new to me, but I liked how it tasted. Apparently arroz verde is a thing? - The bf ate up his 3 fish tacos and sides ($11.95) - Service was super friendly! And attentive. Our glasses always had water. - Not too expensive. We weren't sure we were going to hit the $25 mark (we just barely did by $0.20) to use the "$6 off a $25 purchase" coupon on the back of all those Shop n Save receipts. - Las Palmas participates in the GoodDining program, so you can discreetly generate a donation to the charity of your choice while eating out. :) (-): - We were on the west side and so finding the restrooms was a little confusing. There was one for each gender on the bar side (in contrast to Erika's comment about a unisex restroom? never found that), but the doors were very colorfully painted, which was cool. - Uhh... the menus were a little old/chewed up from use? I don't know, I don't have many complaints about this place. Pretty happy with this place so far. [Edit: 10/02/14] Minus a star because it has been almost a month and a half, and the donation never got credited to my chosen charity. I contacted GoodDining weeks ago and no word. The main reason why I even visited the restaurant in the first place was because I saw that it participated in the program.
Terrible service our waitress dodged us the entire night and we had to beg for refills Our food was cold
