Best food for miles........I should point out the ONLY food for miles. Normally when we visit my in-laws we go to Westphalia Inn for our fried chicken and ham family style meal. Seeing how Steve's is much closer they decided to take us there. BIG DISSAPOINTMENT!!!! There was literally nothing redeeming with our visit. Chicken had very little flavor, décor is zero, service was very un-helpful, sides were some of the lowest quality I have ever had. We were a group of 11 and they sent out two chicken breast in a pile of mostly legs and wings. When we requested a few more pieces and asked if we could have a few breasts "Sorry hun, the last two groups before us ate mostly breasts" but she would see if she could round up a couple more. This place is a JOKE! Many more unimpressive attributes, they simply don't have a clue how to run a business or cook. I feel bad for my in-laws as they were disappointed Steve's was so much below our regular family style dining in Westphalia.

Great chicken and potatoes. Nice family atmosphere. Friendly service but with big groups it seemed a bit slow. Still, very good for large groups.

Went here on a Tuesday evening for a birthday. We had a group of 12. We had the family style chicken and ham. I really enjoyed the coleslaw and the crisyness of the chicken. They did a great job of keeping are table full of food. Could have done a bit better with keeping our drinks topped off but when they were filled the sweet tea was great. Free ice cream with our meal was a nice end to the meal. Left stuffed.

If you died and went to heaven, the fried chicken you would eat would come from Steve's. They have a family-style deal where you can order chicken that is basically all-you-can-eat for about $10. You get homemade mashed potatoes, green beans, gravy, fresh bread, butter and jam, and to top it all off, at the end you get ice cream free. Drinks are extra. The food is sumptuous. I recommend this.

We've stopped at Steve's on our way to the Lake dozens of times, and will continue to do so. This is NOT to be compared to a fast food restaurant, but maybe to Mom's chicken. It's a small town spot, that has fabulous chicken, and sides like my Mom & Grandma made. It can't be beaten by any chicken I've had. If you're expecting a fast food spot, or something fancy - go to your fancy place. If you want OUTSTANDING chicken that you'll think of another time when you're really hungry - go to Steve's!

If you love chicken then this is the place to go this is not fast food style fried chicken but this is pan fried chicken done perfectly moist and great flavor. My nephew had the catfish today all white meat catfish this was not the belly's of the catfish but the good white meat breaded and pan fried. He said it was really good he had the combo chicken and fish. The sides are great real potatoes mashed with cream gravy so unless you are from the city that has issues with cream gravy you will love this gravy and green beans for the side homemade coleslaw vinegar based just how I like it and applesauce and you start the meal with homemade bread and butter. This place is worth the trip (west of Jeff City on Rt C) the hours are strange and what it says on the door isn't always true its hard sometimes to catch this place open you might want to call ahead before you make the drive. By the way they serve family style if you have a large group and you can add country ham along with the chicken to your family style meal. Two things that get my goat about this place the deserts are not homemade and NO sweet tea. Can you believe it fried chicken and all the fix'ns but NO sweet tea. I guess you can't have it all. So if you want a good sit down home cooked meal make this trip but call ahead first.

Great chicken. Delicious ham. Fabulous mashed potatoes with gravy made from grease, just like my Grandma made. The prices were decent too. We just ordered dinners as the dinners came with everything except ice cream, and we could barely finish our plates, so refills wouldn't be needed.

My family will never go back! I bought a Restaurant.Com gift certificate,we were told they knew nothing about this and basically acted as if I had fraudulently obtained the certificate,even though we showed that you could clearly buy it from the app on my phone. Horribly way to do business! The food was nothing special and certainly not worth driving out of your way! Many other local places in neighboring towns who are much more welcoming and have better quality food.

My husband got a wing and a back when he ordered the chicken. I thought it would be a good hamburger joint for weekend afternoons, but it's too expensive.

great fried chicken dinner!!!!!! my son in law from San Francisco said he wanted to go back next time he visits.. chicken perfect, mashed potatoes real and creamy with just a very few lumps for credibilityk, excellent cream gravy.....standard green beans with onions........the slaw is really pretty bad tho...
