Took my girl here for dinner for "Date night" since we were in the area. Arrived around 5:15 on a Saturday night not too busy and had a table pretty quick. We ordered the house salad, arrived promptly and was pretty good. We also ordered at the same time as the salad one large pizza. One full hour after we were both done with our salad, only reason I knew it was a full hour is cause I received a phone call as the buss boy took our salad dishes, 1 Full hour I approached a manager and asked if he could check on our food. Roughly 15 min later we received our pizza, figuring the waiter or kitchen staff made a mistake and lost the order or something, I figured the pizza was made when the Manger checked on it, the pizza was cold as room temperature. Needless to say I was not happy really tried to be polite but the manager gave not even an excuse or anything just offered a free desert. I declined and wanted to just pay for our salads and leave nope stuck me with the FULL Bill. I will not give them a 2nd chance for awhile pretty displeased...

Billy G's has one of the best patios in town! There is a ton of outdoor patio seating and there are cool aspects to it like the full bar and some lounge style seating. Our group ordered a Nacho appetizer which ended up looking a lot more appealing that it tasted (the sauce was a bit watery and there was not very much meat on it). But then, each of us ordered a different salad for our meal--and they were fantastic! I got the crispy chicken salad that had wing sauce on it and some awesome breaded chicken. I also tried my friend's pear and pecan salad, which was amazing! We went on a Sunday afternoon and did not have to wait for seating, but I have heard that Billy G's can get pretty busy, so beware.

Not a fan. I've had only so so food and poor service here. It's also extremely crowded at dinner time and definitely not worth the wait.

This was a really good place! There were 9 of us on a Friday night and they told us it would be an hour and a half, but they did a great job speeding that along. We had drinks in the bar while we waited and it was packed, but the bartender was prompt. The Kraftig draft I had didn't taste the best - probably the beer lines - but the other beers I tried were all good. We were seated relatively fast and the waiter was really great and helpful. I'm from TX and St. Louis style pizza let alone good pizza is a rarity so i had the deluxe pizza and was not disappointed. My son had the rigatoni and said it was amazing. My other son had a burger and although it was not the best he had in St. Louis, he ate the whole thing. My wife had a Cobb Salad which she said was good. My brother in law said the wings were awesome. All around, it was a great experience and what' s really cool is the setting with an outdoor patio that's really inviting to just come and hangout. It was definitely worth the wait and the staff did a great job accommodating us.

This place rocks!!!! Great food!! Big portions!! Don't let the wait scare you off, grab a drink, get an app and you will be glad you did. Patio is great!!!

Better late, then never. I posted pictures of my lunch at Billy G's, but forgot to follow up with a review. I like Joey B's on The Hill, so while I was shopping in Kirkwood I thought I'd try Billy G's Kirkwood. It seemed logical that I'd like it since both are part of the Gianino family restaurant group. My visit was in the autumn and I was out on the patio, which is a beautiful place to dine if the weather permits. I started my lunch with a cup of their Steakhouse Chili. The cup serving was the perfect size to take the chill off and kept my tummy from growling while waiting for an awesome burger. I'm a sucker for the Jalapeño Burger at Joey's, so I tried Billy's and he did not disappoint. It was the same high quality grilled burger, topped with Pepper Jack cheese and lightly breaded and fried jalapeños. They grilled my burger, to my requested medium rare temperature. The fries that accompanied my burger were slender, crispy and lightly salted. Just like Joey's, the burger here a Billy's was a winner. When shopping in Kirkwood, keep Billy G's in mind when you get hungry and keep your dining dollars local.

Hey, this is a sort of cool area. Parking can be a bear, but there is a lot going on and it went on throughout the night. The place was packed and the customer service was not good. One of our party went and asked for a table outside on the patio. He was told there was a 45 min wait and that the best they could offer was a table inside. Several minutes later, when the last of our party arrived, the hostess gave a table away outside on the patio. When asked about it, she said that we didn't say anything more, so it was the next person up. Almost at the same time, the manager appeared and was berating another one of the employees about some other mishap. When we did get seated, we ordered a mixture of pizza, pasta and steak. The food took forever to get to the table. We waited a long, long time. The staff apologized a couple of times, it was quite a wait. Once the food arrived, it was pretty standard...nothing spectacular. Great area and great set up, but the service knocked this rating down considerably.

You know how they say everything is bigger in Texas? Well, it should say everything is bigger at Billy G's. This place has what seems like acres of square footage with a barrage of outdoor patio seating to enjoy the summer. I'd put it in the top 5 best patios in Saint Louis. Their portions are equally huge. I came here for lunch and was pleased with the numerous choices I had for a side. My service was spot on. Parking can be a bit tight during peak hours, but be patient, because Billy G's is worth the wait.

Food was average and service was well below average. Two reasons for my 2-star rating. One, the waitress was terrible and, two, the food took 45-50 minutes to arrive. Will not go back.

Great location just across from the kirkwood train station. We've tried to dine here on other occasions but the wait is just way too long. Of course on a gorgeous September Saturday evening we decided to try one more time and half of Kirkwood was there to dine on the fantastic patio. The wait to dine on the patio was 1:15 but there was no wait to dine indoors. So despite our initial intent to eat outdoors we decided to take the smarter option. Oddly the hostess offered us a table that was to be for a reservation in 2 hours and asked if we thought we could finish in time. Slightly taken aback with the question I assured her we would be done in time. I know we had 4 kids with us but if honestly if we weren't done in 2 hours my kids would have me tearing my hair out. Not quite sure how well a restaurant survive if they blocked a table starting from 5pm for a 7pm reservation. I decided to order the Wisconsin Melt as well as the 1/2 slab of baby back ribs. It did take a while for our food to arrive. Maybe I should have expected that with the hostess' comment. However the server was very polite and attentive. Overall the sandwich was very good. The meat was tender and not dry and the sourdough bread was toasted with just the right amount of crisp but not dry. The ribs were actually very good. Not sure what I was expecting but overall the flavor was not horribly complex but tenderness was done just right. The meat fell off the bones and we were offered different BBQ sauces to try. This was accompanied by 2 very large sides that make it worth the price. Overall a wonderful venue but just a little too crowded for my taste. I wish we had the opportunity to sit on the patio but maybe next time. The service was slow and the food good but not great. We'll come back but definitely leave the kids at home next time!

Love this place! The atmosphere is great as well as the food. My favorite is the pulled pork sandwich, the wings are good as well.

Great atmosphere with amazing patio!! The brisket sandwich is the best, so good, you don't even need sauce !! Pit Master available on weekends only!

I visited for the 1st and will go back. A table for 3 and everyone was happy with their food. The Brisket Sandwich was yummy. The green bean side was fresh and a nice option to French fries...I was afraid they came out of a can and was very pleased that they were fresh. Nice selection of beers on tap. The down side was the service. Too many youngsters running around and having fun and not taking care of their customers. My 2nd beer came after I was all done eating.

Wow, what a hidden gem in plain sight. I pass this place soo much and even stop in on the occasion to pick up gift cards. I finally broke down on Saturday and gave in to the BF and we waited the hour wait for a table. I ordered the chicken spedini with a Cesar salad and pasta with white sauce. He ordered the bacon cheeseburger medium well with fries. The Cesar salad was OK. I'm not big on Cesar salads with tomatoes and the croutons were highly lacking. The chicken and pasta were out of this world delicious!!! The chicken was charbroiled and then coated and cooked in bread crumbs. The chicken spedini was fabulous!!! It was tender, moist and plenty enough for 2. The pasta had this fabulous sauce, like I need to order a whole plate next visit. It's far from the ordinary side plate of pasta you get when you're given the choice of either a side of red sauce or white sauce pasta with an entre. No, they took this to new heights. The two together was a killer combo. And his bacon cheeseburger was the cat's meow..... OMG, that had to be the best burger I've eaten all year. Their burgers are thick and juicy, bursting with flavor and the fries are no joke either. We'll definitely be returning in the near future.

We came here on Christmas Eve and enjoyed our meals. I think their appetizer and bar food type options are better choices than the upscale. The flatbread pizzas were great but the ahi tuna appetizer was overcooked. The service was very good and attentive despite the restaurant being packed for the holiday. I enjoyed my wine option as well. The decor here is modern and very beautiful. Nice place to come for a drink and appetizer.

OK now. Most everyone agrees that Billy G's has a great patio and a cool interior. And the menu looks above average for a Kirkwood eatery, the items we've ordered rank from just ok to disappointing in terms of flavor and the higher prices! And after numerous visits I find the wait service, to be kind, just plain inexperienced and on some occasions inattentive! Bringing water, clearing plates, offering refills and bringing the check in a timely manner among the obvious should be 101. Given what I've experienced and reading some of these other less than enthusiastic reviews I suggest management take the serious and necessary steps to really improve these shortcomings. In the end, your patio will only get you so far! Note to owner and management- read these reviews, take action. You've got problems!!

What a great patio area! We really wanted to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful fall evening. The patio was nicely lit and had several open flame heaters! Really lovely. Good variety of menu selections. Very good quality comfort, American, and Italian food. Great crab cakes, salads, penne and cream sauce, fish n chips and a quite a tasty bowl of chili. Their cocktails are a little pricey but they do have happy hour specials until 6pm. Service was friendly and excellent. Our appetizers came out quickly. Everything was like clockwork. I will definitely be returning to Billy G's in Kirkwood.

Best Burger I've ever had The Smokehouse. The burger was awesome and the bacon cooked perfect also had great kids meals for only 5.99 each!

So fresh in Kirkwood! Billy G's may be brand new, but it will quickly become part of St. Louis culture. Brought to us by the same people that own Joey B's, Frankie G's, Scottie's Pub House, and Peppers Bar n Grill, this establishment will undoubtedly capture the hearts of patrons around Kirkwood. I was a little blindsided by this place. During a long day of errands, I was prompted by my wife to head to Kirkwood for the grand opening. Frankly, I didn't know anything about Billy G's. I was familiar with several of the restaurants related to it but have never patronized any of them. It almost didn't seem right to celebrate opening day for Billy G's, not knowing just how significant the Gianino family is to St. Louis. This place is beautifully designed. The entrance is through the patio, which is large and inviting. Once another restaurant, the Gianinos gutted the old place and redesigned the entire interior. Possibly the best part of the inside, the patrons can see inside the kitchen. However, it's not out in the open, just subtle enough to give customers a view of the kitchen without feeling right on top of it. I wish that I was more prepared for this visit. I wasn't ready to throw down on some meals, and one could definitely spend quite a bit there. The menu covers so much: pizzas, pasta, barbeque, sandwiches, burgers. Most items are above the ten dollar mark and beyond. Even many of the appetizers were more than ten. We settled on some chicken wings and fries. I ordered the fries blindly since the price was not on the menu. I chose the "backyard" style wings, which were given a dry rub. Overall, the wings were very fresh, but the rub didn't really give them the kick that I thought they would. Also, for $10.49, I was hoping for a nice portion, but the helping was average at best. Our waitress, Melissa, was wonderful. We were her first customers! She was friendly and helpful. The place was crawling with waiters, just hitting five o'clock and waiting for the evening boom. I would be the first to admit that Kirkwood is not my scene, and I probably won't return to Billy G's anytime soon. Billy G's is the Applebee's for people who don't want to eat at Applebee's. It's a big slice of Americana brought to you by the Gianino family. This place has enormous potential, but I don't know if it's fair to assess it until the owner truly establish themselves in Kirkwood.

I almost forgot to write this review. I'm so mad at myself. Went here a week ago and had a wonderful time with my husband. We have been to their other locations and loved the buffalo chicken pizza, but at this location they do not have it on the menu. The great husband I have asked if they could make it for me because that's all I could think about. The server said they could make it, it's just not on the menu. The owner made it himself and then came over to see if we where enjoying it. YES, yes we where it was so good and they even make their pizza dough fresh at this location so it made it even better. Try it you will love it or you won't, but you should try it!

Not impressed. Actually, overwhelmingly unimpressed. We came in on Fathers Day evening, they were busy, yes, but we only waited about 30 minutes to sit outside. Perfect! Service was decent. Our waiter seemed a little flustered and i'm sure it's just because the day was busy. My kids both ordered macaroni and cheese off of the kids menu and it was bland to say the least. It was served with fries, by accident, because we'd asked for veggies with one and applesauce with the other. Starch with starch. Ugh. They were starving though, and of course, they won't argue about pasta and fries ;) Surprisingly, the pasta con broccoli we also ordered was even MORE bland than the macaroni and cheese. The sauce was watery and it lacked any flavor at all. A hint of salt couldn't even be found. Again, we we're hungry, the restaurant was busy, so we just rolled with it despite better judgment. We also ordered the cajun black bean burger which was on point. Still though, expected better.

Sat at the inside bar waiting for my GF to arrive. I had an hour to kill so had some cold Bud's and kicked back. Great bartenders, actually smiled and interacted with the customers. It was Tuesday the 28th and a beautiful day and night. The place filled up quickly so we decided to eat at the bar. We split the Chicken Modega, I got a side salad and she ordered a whole house salad(larger portion of the side salad). Not a huge deal but the salads came out in 2 different bowls but actually I think mine was the same size as hers which was odd but in the end it was enough. The chicken was amazing. Now weird but our meal came at the same time as the salads which I was not happy with but by the time we were ready to eat, the food was surprisingly still hot. It does get very loud in there and found it strange that the louder it got, the louder they turned up the music. I don't like to have to raise my voice much to talk to the person next to me and not to mention that people were right next to us at regular tables having dinner. We will go back again as the menu looked interesting and would like to try more of their dishes.

I stumbled upon this place on a rainy Saturday and went to the bar for a few drinks. I was pleasantly surprised with the beer selection, but opted for wine. We ended up ordering a few appetizers because we kept ogling everyone else's! The crab cakes were awesome!!! Had it been a beautiful day, I would have spent hours on the amazing patio. I can't wait to go back this fall. If you are looking for a fun day drinking place, you've found it!

Energetic, a lot of FUN. Truly accommodating to customize my Cardinal Chicken Salad with trashed chicken and provel cheese. Yummy! Would recommend the Chicken Modega Pizza, as well.

Massa's has been a staple in Kirkwood for my entire life, so when I last came home and my parents said it'd been closed down and a much nicer looking restaurant opened in its place, I was curious. And when my boyfriend arrived to spend Christmas with us and my best friend from childhood was in town and dying to meet him in person, trying out Billy G's seemed like a good option. Billy G's really did quite a job reworking Massa's old patio and restaurant from what it once was. The patio's been completely redone and looks great - there's tall and short tables, one of which has a built in fire option in the middle of the table behind glass, a large bar on the patio itself and lots of good space that looks very inviting when the weather's right. Inside, the little rooms have all been removed and the restaurant is one big open space now. The large bar occupies the front of the restaurant and the dining area is right next to it with a mix of booths and tables. Good change compared to the old, claustrophobic feeling of Massa's inside. We all convened the Monday before Christmas around 9 PM, and even at that hour the bar was packed. That being the case, we took a table instead, which turned out to be a much better idea, since we ended up sitting and talking for 4 hours. Although I'd heard mixed things about the service when the restaurant first opened, our waitress was great that evening and made sure we were taken care of even though all we did was drink (everyone had had dinner prior to meeting). I got the house sangria, my best friend started with some blueberry mixed drink then moved on to the Caboose Juice (she liked the name), and my boyfriend got vodka tonics that evening. Like I said, we didn't eat, but the menu and dishes coming out looked promising - I saw some flatbread pizzas and appetizers, burgers, etc. and the desserts sounded good too. We ended up staying til just past 1 AM - when you start catching up, there's a lot to talk about! And we weren't even the final people to leave - there were still 6 or 7 people around the bar by the time we finally called it quits. Anyway, I was happy with Billy G's - nice job with the drinks, good service for us, no complaints here. I'd go back in the summer and try out their patio for sure.

Loving date night w/ my daughter at one of the best places to hang out in St Louis. Food outstanding! Service incredible! Live acoustic music on patio! Doesn't get any better for a Dad & daughter!

Went here for lunch a week ago and this place is great! It's quite large and spacious for a restaurant in the heart of Kirkwood. Which is notorious for its quaint small town style atmosphere. Ordered the pulled pork meal which was delicious :). Still not as good as Kenrick's, but still very good. The patio is reason to come alone. Probably one of the absolute best outdoor eating atmospheres in all of St. Louis.

  • Christina B.

The atmosphere is great! The food is good but not great. We had great service. The food looked like it was going to awesome but it was lacking in flavor.

  • William H.

I'd characterize this as "a restaurant in search of an identity". When you go to a place that serves "good" pulled pork and they bring you bread you do NOT expect mass produced white Italian bread...odd! So Billy G's what are you? Special at lunch is a lasagne..but the menu is a mix of BBQ, pizzas, pasta, and huge salads!! Waitress and staff in general were very friendly and capable. But headsets. I don't like the vibe headsets send...it is an Abercrombie feel of "Hi please come shop/eat and leave so more pretty people can experience us" Food was good though! Onion rings to start were fair and two salads were able to be split to take home. Wow serving size!! As for price point that others mentioned. I think you should focus on value and I'd say they may be ~10% higher then they should be but I did not feel cheated. Summer would be best time to swing by, grab an app and a drink while you chill on patio. Dinner not worth the price :)

Great wings. A bit pricey but the quality is at that range. Their BBQ specials are great. Decent local beer selection. Cool outdoor seating. It seems to be a bit of a wait even on the weekdays.

  • Stephanie N.

Great atmosphere on the patio. Especially in the booths. We went on a day that was very sunny and hoy. The sun was shining right on us so we told the waiter we wanted to sit inside. Instead he made shade for us by getting a huge umbrella to block the sun. So nice of him. Great host. Great service. Great huge portions of food. Had to take most food home because they give you so much. The feel of the place is also amazing.

Good food. Cool atmosphere. I would like to go back here when the weather is nice because the patio looks awesome!

Went back for a 3rd visit, it may be my last for a while. We didn't like our food as much this time around. Trashed wings - they were those overly large wings that you know must come from a chicken pumped up with antibiotics. They are tough, too fatty, and not as flavorful. The blue cheese dressing was absolutely not the same as on my 1st visit. It was basically a gloppy mayo based sauce with blue cheese stirred in. I'm confused, did they change chefs already. The waitress was wonderful though! Caesar salad was good too

2 things got us really excited about the opening of Billy G's: 1) another restaurant by the awesome Gianino family 2) in the heart of Kirkwood We were super excited to try this new restaurant as we are big fans of the other restaurants in this family business. We stopped in on a Saturday for lunch and it was too hot to sit outside on the awesome patio, we opted for inside which is very nice. Our wait staff was very attentive and friendly and eager to talk to us. They explained the menu and were able to accommodate in every fashion that we needed. We started with an appetizer of homemade chips followed by each of us getting a sandwich entree. Needless to say we took a lot home because we filled up fast. This location is perfect if you're in the Kirkwood area and need a bite to eat. Its situated to where you can park anywhere and walk. I hope to return when the weather gets cooler and sit on the patio. I hear there may be live music eventually as the restaurant continues to grow.

I've been a fan of the Gianino's chain of restaurants for some time. While they won't blow you away with something new and different, they do offer consistently good Italian and bar food options. One of my favorite pizzas is the buffalo chicken pizza at Joey B's or Frankie G's. So when we found out that Billy G's was from the same chain we were happy they moved in down the street. We were able to visit for the first time a couple of nights ago. The place is huge. And it will be even bigger when the weather is nicer. The patio looks awesome. Our server was great. We told her the pizza we wanted and she kindly said they didn't have that on the menu at this location but she'll ask if the cook can make it. The owner actually ended up making our pizza and it was the bomb. All the goodness of the buffalo chicken from the other establishments but on a hand tossed crust. I'm not sure if they'll be happy that I reviewed that they can do this, but if you can ask your server. We also had an order of tremendously large meatballs for an appetizer and the trout special. Everything was excellent. I can see us revisiting often.

Had a great time tonight celebrating our 15 yr anniversary. Awesome patio... Great food... Music on the patio! And Ron absolutely is the best waiter on the planet!!!!! He was crazy busy but didn't miss a beat! We will be returning. Great experience. (Thanks, Ron!!)

My friend and I stopped in and ate at the bar - wanted to sit outside but I think everyone else had the exact same idea. The inside bar was very hip. The bar had a lot of craft beers on tap, which I went for the 312 wheat. Great bartender. I had the shrimp and grits (I went to school in the south and am VERY picky about my grits and they did not disappoint! One of the best shrimp and grits in St. Louis. We will both be back.

What an amazing atmosphere and the food was just out of this world spectacular. Homemade toasted ravs, garlic shrimp, pretzel bites and of course trashed wings. The trashed wings were so delicious had to order more for the table.

Deliciously good garlic shrimp appetizer, MaiTai cocktail. Quick service, nice outdoor patio dining experience. Really liked the barbeque brisket sandwich and their fries have always been good. Our server 'Dan' promptly took care of us and regularly checked in. This is the 6th time I've eaten here and do recommend both the food and dining experience. We enjoy going on Sundays after church, the games are usually on the tv's and visible and the service/food dependable. I also really like it for a date night on the patio which had a great ambiance between fire elements and lighting. Enjoy.

We were there on a Monday afternoon. They were busy but not slammed. Service was way Slooooow! Drinks came slowly and no refills even on a warm afternoon. Food was good but a bit pricey. If service is always this Slooow we would not return.

The building and patio are gorgeous, the food and customer service is not so great. I went when they first opened, and have been back 3-5 times due to the location being easy. The last time I went will be the last time I go. Two people with me ordered chicken spedinni sandwich, both came out pink, and the manager acted upset at my friends, took the food away and didn't offer to give a different meal. We complained to the server that the manager was rude, and they brought out free desserts. The desserts were great, but they are not made in house. This is a good spot for a drink, but the food is not worth it. I have gone to Joey B's forever, and it doesn't even compare...

  • Gregory P.

I had dinner here with the family last night and like the other reviewers I was impressed with the patio and inside as well. Service was good on our visit, no complaints here. Food? Its okay, but not great. I think I am getting tired of ordering food in St. Louis and it all taste like its coming from the same place. The wholesaler in town must have the St. Louis restaurant business all to themselves. I am sure Billy Gs has some signature dishes they can call all their own, but we apparently did not order them. My big complaint is the smokers standing at the entrance of the restaurant. Why the hell do people assume its okay to stink-up the place in a spot you cannot get around if you plan to eat / drink here? I will give this place another try or two and hope for the best. Maybe the pizza is really good, it certainly is priced to make you think so.

I stopped by for dinner on a weeknight on a gorgeous spring day. The wait for the patio was super long, but our party of two got seated inside right away. No appetizers because we were in a hurry, but we ordered a California chicken sandwich and the club and split them. Both delicious, as were the fries! Very cool vibe inside, lots of TVs showing the game, not too noisy. Attentive service- we let our server know we had to leave at a certain time and she did a great job expediting our order so our food came ASAP. I can't wait to go back and sit on the patio, it looks amazing.

Awesome patio. Mediocre food, over-priced, LONG wait. Not worth it. Go for drinks at an odd hour on a nice day. Stay away for dinner.

  • MaryPat G.

Remember, they do NOT take reservations, this being said it was not the place to go for our group of nine people. We got there at 6:30, by 8:30 they said that it would still be another hour wait. After talking to the management we were able to snag tables in the bar and everyone got a chair. Due to this we didn't feel like ordering a full dinner, just one person got a meal. We ordered lots of apps.. pretzel bites, trashed wings, margarita pizza, hummus w/ pita points, and toasted ravs. One friend got the pork steak and shared a bite. The meat was WONDERFUL. I can't wait to go back and order that as a meal. It tasted like brisket.. best pork steak I've ever had. The trashed wings were some of the best wings I've ever had, I had to order more! The pretzel bites and pizza were great too. I wasn't a fan of the hummus.. and the toasted rav's tasted like the frozen ones you can buy at the grocery store. The patio is beautiful. I will be back for sure.

I want to like this place, but after three bad experiences I am done. The food is high and is average on taste and the service is atrocious. The second time we went the server was taking our order and left in the middle of it to deliver a salad to another table. WTH? When my husband got up to take one of our kids to the bathroom while we were eating, a server came by and pulled the chairs out and started sweeping under the table. This couldn't wait!? It took 20 minutes to get our check. I called and spoke with a manager and he sent a gift certificate. It was a nice gesture, but..... I went in tonight for a pick up of a sandwich. They were busy, so I stood at the carry out area. The 3 hostesses had all the time in the world to socialize, but after 5 minutes and three different servers using the carry out register and no one asking if I needed help, I finally asked if I was in the right place. The snotty hostess with a head set said yes and that someone would be right there. 10 minutes later she walkies someone that there is "someone at carry out." The waitress came up and was pleasant and I paid using this 25 dollar gift certificate. I thought there is no way they'd write me another gift certificate for the difference, but low and behold, they did. Sweet Jesus Christ. I used it tonight just to get it out of my wallet and now I have to go back again? I should have just handed it off to a couple waiting outside because I will never go back. The servers are overwhelmed for some reason. We have gone at not busy times and managers and staff are so busy socializing with one another it's hard to actually do the job.

Billy G's is not my typical type of restaurant. It has a very upscale suburban feel without much personality and it's almost always crowded. However, this restaurant still gets five stars from me because you just can't argue with amazing food! Last night I tried the red sangria, which is a little brandy heavy but quite good. I had the spicy cardinal chicken sandwich which really knocked my socks off and my husband enjoyed his caesar salad with salmon, which is massive. Honestly out of all the times I've ever been here I've never heard anyone complain about food that was less than stellar. Enjoy!

We were a party of 8, we had great service (Mike B) something you don't always get with a large group. My lasagna was great, everything was nice, we will definitely be back.

It's all about the location here. The food is fine; not great, just fine in a very St. Louis way. Staff is friendly, though not overly polished. That's acceptable for a neighborhood joint. Decor is attractive; patio is exceptional. Restaurants abound in Kirkwood. So, if you're considering a meal here, think of Billy G's as somewhere between Duffy's and Bar Louie--If Duffy's is too crowded, go to Billy G's.

Billy Gs is always a great spot!! Great beers, food and always quality!! People are fabulous too! Tonight, they were a bit busy, as they can be, since they are a hot spot! We also had a table of 12 so we had a variety of orders. We got a pizza and ended up seeing it come out (our table was by the kitchen) it's a great setup bc it's cool to see the pizza oven and orders coming out. We just had a hunch it was our pizza and I guess since the other orders weren't ready it sat under the lamps waiting. It was another 15-20 minutes and it just kept moving down lamps as other orders got taken. Two ways to look at it 1. Have any server bring pizza since its done and hot 2. They waited till all orders are done for our table. None the less, they were slammed and we understood we had to wait longer. But why put the pizza on that early when the order was so big?? It was delicious but unfortunately it was luke warm. The manager was very accommodating and knew we were not happy. They offered us to make a new one. I really wanted the pizza, just wanted it hot. we asked just to put it back in the oven....it came back perfect!! A little crispy (which we love) and hot!! The manager even took it off our bill when we really still wanted to pay for it!! We already loved Billy Gs and now we love them even more!!!

This is hands down my favorite place to eat at in Kirkwood!! Love the atmosphere here and the outside part! Margarita Pizza is my favorite thing on the menu and the desserts from Blue Owl are the best!! Good for a group or to just lounge outside or at the bar!!

Horrible! I don't understand the buzz about this place. So the patio is pretty. Everything else was really really bad. Service was non existent, the drinks were made with almost no ice so it ended up being a glass of mixer and a splash of alcohol. The food was not fresh and cold. The staff didn't care and got upset when they were told of issues. There is some sort of attitude that they think they are the best place in KW.....they are not. Don't waste your time.

The patio is excellent. So excellent that it let's Billy G's get away with mediocre food and ridiculous prices. Alcoholic beverages probably run about $3 - $4 higher than they should cost. $10 cosmo!! Everything I have eaten has been ok but not outstanding, and very expensive. Their small margherita pizza (roughly the equivalent of a 10 inch) is $20! For tomatoes and cheese! It was ok, but not worth $20. They are part of the Gianino's family and I really love Gianino's salad, so I was really looking forward to it at Billy Gs. Unfortunately, they aren't making is as well as at the other locations. It almost seemed like they forgot to dress it. Very bland and needed more of that special Gianino's dressing. I will go back to Billy G's only for that patio, but I will stick to the sangria because that seems to be the only reasonably priced thing on the menu.

There is absolutely nothing "down South" about "Shrimp n Grits" at $18. Even the Ritz-Carlton in New Orleans offers shrimp n grits for $15. Okay, calm down, lets start over.. The place looks great, food is good, but service is a major let down. Apparently this is an existing issue, you'd think management would catch on.. Our server was extremely polite, but we were seemingly forgotten for almost 20 minutes after seated on a slow Monday. I actually had to ASK for a server, #youknowit'sbadwhen. She had a great attitude but was perhaps overwhelmed? Entirely too much time between visits, felt totally forgotten multiple times. The place is bustling but seemingly totally disorganized or inexperienced. Aside from that, the prices, I know it's Kirkwood but come on. The food is good. G-o-o-d. Not $10+ apps or $20+ entrees good. If you're going to be holier than thou with the menu at least provide some options. 75% of the menu should be reduced by 50%. It's burgers, pasta, pizza, and meat. Get over yourselves. Their simplest pizza, which essentially consists of lawn clippings is still $15. To make your own (for example: oil, provel, pepperoni, basil yes they consider that a $1.50 "topping", and a dash of delicious arugula) starts at $20. ...$20. Billy, slow your roll. I know you're in 3rd gear but treat this place as it's own. Start with good food and impeccable service. Build some equity and respect, establish yourself in an otherwise delicate entrepreneurial climate. If you deem it necessary THEN inflate your prices to drive away the customer base. You'll probably last slightly longer. Next time I'll wet my whistle with an old fashioned or three on the beautiful porch first, then perhaps I'll be numbed to the rest of it to care as much as I do right now, because Kirkwood.

Conveniently located in a gorgeous building with an amazing outdoor space. The Gianino family serves up another winner. The crab cakes are delicious. And the red sangria alone is worth the visit. Prices seem a little high, but it's definitely a step up from Joey Bs

Billy G's had a great atmosphere, menu and drinks. It's a high class place in Kirkwood. What our family found is that most importantly the staff are second to none. We had non-stop assistance from Katy who wasn't even our waitress - she was there when we needed her, helped when called upon and made that extra bit of difference when a family with kids needed a little extra help! If you go to Billy G's - make sure Katy is around your table to help - makes all the difference :)

We went here at 5 on a Saturday (we were starving, and also we act like we're 80 sometimes). Who knew there would be a 30 minute wait at 5 pm? I guess we should've known that, since it is in Kirkwood after all, but oh well. Aside from the fact that another group which came in after us got seated before us, we really enjoyed the food, and hope that next time (when we go at 3 pm) we'll get to sit out on the awesome looking patio. My husband said the bbq pulled pork was surprisingly good, and I really enjoyed my French dip sandwich. Glad there's a new place to dine in Kirkwood...we've kind of worn out some of the other places around here!

Dinner for 6 on 12/29/14. Service good. We had eaten here twice before. Food was better then. Bread was commercial soft Italian flavorless. Caesar salads served with tomatoes? Dressing OK if you want a mayo based Caesar. Salad apparently long pre-made and wilting. Spaghetti also bland. Shrimp pasta Fra Diabolo tasted like tomato paste with chili. But at least the Shrimp in it were good. Nice enough bar with a fair choice of craft beers, but I will pick a different place to dine.

Meh...besides the big patio space (with nice outdoor furniture), I am pretty unimpressed by my visit. Our waitress was very sweet, but service was slow and since she isn't old enough to drink yet she could only tell us what is popular vs. answering more detailed questions like would you say this cocktail is sweet, which brings me to my second complaint: the drinks were way too sweet. This came as a surprise as one of us had actually been here recently and was overjoyed that her lemonade was not too sweet. Well, apparently they made some tweaks to the recipe :| I'm not sure why so many bar operators don't understand what the modern women want from a cocktail: sugary sweet is definitely not one of the desired qualities. Also, no self-respecting drinking establishment should be allowed to use mix to make Mojitos (Tree Mojito). Seriously, it is insulting. Two hours later I can still taste the chemicals on my breath. Bleh! Lastly, some of us who ordered whiskey on the rocks got hit with a $2 "rock" charge (they were already $9 to start with). Oh hay-ell.naw! I get where "rock charge" comes from. You get hit with a rock charge when you order a drink on the rocks that, supposedly, when served neat, gets a smaller pour. But there is literally no way to compare what you would have gotten when you order it one way or another. To put that aside, at end of the day, the practice of up charging is just lame as hell. Most people order their whiskey with some ice (unless we are talking about seriously premium single malt varieties). Why not just build the damn charge into the price? The margin on alcohol is already beyond ridiculous at a semi-fancy bar/lounge like this, you wouldn't think they have to resort to this just to trick you into paying $2 more dollars....The only places I go these days that charge me "rock fees" are the places I don't return to and clubs in more expensive cities where I don't have a choice but to pay up (keeping in mind though that I don't go to these places to socialize, which was the point of the trip here). Seriously, just don't do it. Even if it was legit, the practice is beyond tacky.

Best patio in Kirkwood, and among the best in St. Louis. Food is above average, nothing to write home about. I love the seared tuna, shrimp and grits, and trashed wings.

Group of 12 friends had dinner here (after I had a business lunch here earlier in the week). Wow! What great service! Everyone enjoyed their food, and the server - Mary - handled all of our requests with great aplomb. We sat at the tall table near the kitchen, so we could see the chefs at work - impressive! All the food we saw (and ate!) was very good. Can't wait to go back to try additional entrees.

If you can get to Billy G's in time to grab a seat on their patio on a beautiful Kirkwood day, I say that is the best part of this place. The establishment is new, so there are some things that need to be addressed: My main gripe is that the wait staff does not have it together. I placed my order and the entire table received their food, except me. The waitress delivered the food for the other people, neglected to see me there without a plate and walked away without noticing. She came back to check in a few minutes later, and had a difficult time understanding why my meal was missing. She flat out forgot to enter it in. So it was one of those "everyone at the table wants to wait to eat until everyone has food situations, but food that is here is getting cold and people are hungry". Not a great first impression.

Patio is fantastic! Tried two of their cocktails (smashed berry lemonade and green tree Mojito) both good but the lemonade was hands down winner. Been twice now and the second time waaay too much Jack in the lemonade but it seems like they are still working out some kinks with service and bartenders. The pretzel bites are so good! Huge portion sizes on some of the dishes if you like that sort of thing. Great place for happy hour and sitting outside, can accommodate large groups. Tons of people working and they all tried really hard to be welcoming and attentive. Will definitely be back!

Patio is great for drinks! Glad to have another patio in Kirkwood. I have eaten here probably 5 times. The pizza and the mussels are good. Everything else has not been so great including the ahi tuna, BBQ and sweet pretzel bites. Service has been hit or miss. We just go for drinks now....

My friend and I came to Billy G's tonight. We had heard it was a new Giannino family restaurant. It was beautifully remodeled, great service, 40 Min. wait on friday night. A great place to enjoy with friends. A delicious pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, cole slaw, sweet potato fries and desert from Blue Owl. It was a wonderful experience. I will spread the word. Thank you Billy G. MJ

Billy Gs has been a nice addition to Kirkwoods dining scene. They offer a nice variety of Italian, BBQ, pizzas etc. I also like that they incorporate some other local foods like Great Harvest breads and Blue Owl (Kimmswick) desserts. The outdoor seating is comfortable and a great way to spend an evening outdoors. Portions large so beware!

Wow. Probably the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. Arrived at 6, and were told that it would take 45 minutes for us to be seated. Not a big deal, and certainly to be expected on a busy Saturday. Grabbed a couple of drinks at the bar, and grabbed a seat on the awesome patio waiting area. Long story short - we were not seated until 8 o'clock - and practically had to beg. Look, I know that this place had only been open for a couple of days, but this was ridiculous. People waiting that had arrived after us were being seated ahead of us. I saw a four-person high-top sit empty for at least a half hour. Our server was friendly, and I was determined to not take out my frustration on her. We ordered a couple of burgers right away, and she was sure to check on us for drinks and whatnot. A food runner brought out our burgers, but they were incorrect (wrong burgers, wrong sides). We waited another 5 minutes, and they brought another two burgers out - but they were also incorrect. It was at this point that we had had enough. It was 9 o'clock, and we hadn't even gotten our food yet. We explained to our waitress that we were leaving, and were directed to the manager - who did his best to smooth it over (offered to buy our dinners/drinks). But we were both too frustrated to even stay. I'd like to give this place another try - but the first experience makes it unlikely.

Worst service ever. My wife, two other couples and I went here for an after dinner drink and dessert tonight. It looked like a great place to go. It was a big deal to go out as we have a baby at home and my sister and her husband have two kids as well. We sat at the fire pit and proceeded to wait almost 30 minutes for a waitress to take our order. She helped out several other groups right around us, but never acknowledged our existence (her section was not that big). We had to order from the bar after waiting for her for a half hour. We were there a total of about 1.5 hours and not once did she acknowledge us, so the bartender got the tip on the $70 tab. Inexcusable and lazy. How hard is it to take a drink order? As a former waiter myself, I know the difference between being inattentive because of being busy and laziness. This waitress was definitely the later. Keeping people on staff like that is a recipe for disaster. Restaurant is also extremely overpriced. $6 for a pint of Schlafly? Will NEVER go back there.

Asked for California Grilled chicken sandwich with no cheese. ..had cheese on it....she takes it back to get new one....I got same sandwich with cheese removed....and chicken turned over on bun....with residual cheese remaining where they didnt fire me up a new dish. Over priced and poor service in my opinion. Had to wait 20 minutes when several tables were open.

Went here later on a Thurs. night around 8 and it was pretty packed. First impression was, wow, nice patio! It seemed like waiting for a table would take a while and right about that time, we noticed 2 seats open at their "fire bar" (more on that in a second) so we took them. Waitress was very friendly and informed us we could only order drinks and apps in this spot and that if we wanted dinner, we'd need to get a table. Fine by me... I'd already eaten earlier. Craft beer selection was more than adequate for the area and I was pleasantly surprised. Had the Urban Chestnut STLIPA, ordered the toasted raviolis and spinach artichoke dip. Food came out a while later but didn't notice very much as was having great conversation. Spinach artichoke dip was meh, sorta of dry and seemed like it could have been sitting for a while before coming out. Raviolis were pretty good actually, considering I dont care for them...but that is usually because most restaurants take them out of a freezer and drop them in the fryer. These seemed to be made fresh! score one there. So, apparently this bar we were sitting at had a center that had glass rocks in it and a short glass wall surrounding the rocks... not your average bar. An hour or so later, we and others near us began to smell a strong gas oder. Sure enough, about 2 minutes later, the entire center of the bar erupts in flames. Ok, that was pretty impressive but then my date had to quickly move her purse and the glass itself became pretty hot. A little heads up would have been nice people! Maybe its just me but I like to know if the bar I'm sitting at is getting ready to burst into flames! But what was funny was apparently most of the people who saw it had never seen anything like before. People kept coming over, taking pics of the bar, then of themselves at the bar, etc. Both funny and a little annoying at the same time. Pretty sure we photobombed a lot of different pics over the course of the night! So, would I go back? eh, thats a big MAYBE. Certainly to sit on the patio and drink with good weather. Might like to try the food. But honestly, living in the city, I don't usually have any reason to make the trek and this place wouldn't justify it...

Tried Billy G's last night for the first time. Atmosphere was great - loved the way the bar is designed. Ordered a cucumber mojito, which was delicious! I was a little bummed that I've recently stopped drinking beer because I was impressed with the variety of beers on tap. My only complaint was that the pizza was super salty. That was taken care of with more drinks! Love that they serve the Gianinos salad!

I went with a few friends last weekend to watch a sports game on TV. We were very impressed with the amount and quality of TV's at Billy G's. We ordered the pretzel bites as an appetizer-- HIGHLY suggest those, as they were delicious. We got a variety of main dishes-- chicken caesar sandwich, chicken carbonara, and pizza. We were very satisfied with the amount of food and the taste. Their patio is amazing; looking forward to enjoying that when the weather gets nicer. I do not believe they take reservations, so be prepared to wait if you go on a weekend. By 7pm on Saturday, the bar area and waiting area were filled-- I assume at least a 45min/hour wait for a table. Worth the wait though! Can't wait to go back.

I went here for my third time and per usual the food w as mediocre. While the restaurant has a great look, the food disappoints. I had a medium rare burger that was charred and barely warm sweet potato fries. Our server was great tho!

Very nice place. The patio is beautiful! The service was great! There were three of us two dinners were wonderful one had Salmon which was not so good. Have come here several times for dinner. We were always told what the wait would r and it was always almost double. We requested a 6 top outside and when we saw one opened up and cleaned, a group of 4asked if they could move to it and they were put in it. After waiting another half hour for another 6 top to open we were seated inside. Food was not very good and the service was not good either. You are however allowed to order drinks and appetizers as you wait in the outside patio.

Delicious BBQ 3 of the 4 of us feasted on with tons to take home. Pork steaks are huge & could slice with our spoons. The pulled pork on my sandwich was enough pork for two sandwiches. I can't wait to go back and our server , Chris was one if the best I've ever had. If you want great service ask to sit in his area. We can't wait to go back.

I grew up in Kirkwood and have seen the location go through several reincarnations of restaurants which didn't seem to be successful. I don't think that will be the case for Billy G's. As with previous reviews I read before going here, I read negatives about the food and/or service or both. That did not seem to be the case going on last night when I went. They have opened up the space considerably since it was Massa's and re-did the patio and it looks amazing. Their service was spot on and the menu really has become a cross of their other family restaurants (Joey B's, Gianino's, and Frankie G's) and the sandwiches and burgers are just as good as the pasta, salads, and entrees if not a notch up with also some new items exclusive for their location. And you have to remember that every place has growing pains when they first start out as they are trying to get their wait staff trained and figure out the response and crowd level that they will get from the community and adjust accordingly. I think it is safe to say that they have figured that out (Chris was a great waiter with our group!) in less than a month from opening their doors and I think they will thrive in a spot that has typically not thrived in the past. I wish them the best of luck and certainly will be back in the future!

Met some friends at Billy G's last weekend and liked it so well I'm heading back again this week. Love the space, hip and fresh. The food was spot on wonderful and the staff super friendly and attentive. I loved all the menu choices and our waitress was very knowledgeable about the food. One review said the drinks were too sweet. I had the sangria and a mojito and they were perfect. We arrived early to avoid a long wait and were seated immediately. And yes it did get crowded. And loud which is my only negative about the place. I think the patio might be less noisy so maybe I'll check that out this time. If you are looking for a quiet, intimate experience the inside won't be for you. But if you want good food, high energy and great service this is the place.

Honestly it was a bad experience. Great outdoor patio but service was brutal. Rude waitress combined with food mix ups was to much. The entire tray of water spilled on nephew was only 2nd to the runner asking my wife "what she expected" when she politely indicated the cheese pizza he brought was not the veggie pizza she ordered. I hate leaving turd reviews but 100 % warranted on this. Food took over an hour then with food mix ups some didn't even get to eat. Nice Sunday family dinner out!To bad because it has potential.

Horrible experience!!! I had a great time and great service on my first visit here.... However, this time I waited an hour and a half for patio seating which from previous experience was well worth the wait. Finally we were seated in a beautiful cabana with pillows and were so over the moon about our table, posting pics on Facebook and singing the place praises about the establishment, only to be told that they sat us at the wrong table and we had to be moved so they could seat a larger party. Although the offered to buy us a round of drinks for the inconvenience, they sat us at the most god awful table on the whole patio, next to the ice bin and side station of the bar, where our only view was of stored propane tanks and heat lamps. It was like going to first class and then being told u had to return to coach next to a crying baby.

We had a large group (11) for my birthday and waited over an hour since they don't take reservations (and a holiday weekend). The first thing the server asked when she walked up after we waited too long to see a server was "Will this be one check or separate?"...not "hello, welcome, etc" so that put us off. We then were told we would have two servers - one for each side of the table??? After seeing everyone "serve" us but the dishwasher, we couldn't remember who are first two servers were. I have heard consistently from friends that the bad service is a problem. The food was nothing spectacular and the menu was all over the place as far as Italian, bar food, seafood...but not in a good way. We will go back for drinks and apps on the patio if anything. The renovation itself is very well done.

My girlfriend and I were here for at least 2 1/2 hours, and I always appreciate when the server doesn't make you feel rushed. She was great. It's in the heart of downtown Kirkwood and has a beautiful patio. Inside, their copper ceiling is gorgeous, even though it's the food that counts for me - and I wasn't disappointed. I got their house salad. Not very big, and it included some iceberg lettuce that I would have pitched, but the provel and their house dressing would have otherwise made it a 10. The Italian bread probably comes from the Hill - loved it. Their desserts come from the Blue Owl. I got the carrot cake which was phenomenal (it's all about the icing!). But it was HUGE. It was too big... from a person who prefers generous-sized desserts. But if my sweet tooth can't finish it, it just seems wasteful.

Maybe it's just me. Maybe it's because I'm not from Missouri, but I found this place to just OK, not A-OK. Eh OK, and being that even our friends who invited us there had to say, "sorry, last time it was better." I had to go with the lower of the two. Time: Friday night Wait time: 55 minutes Price for four: Food $56 (3 meals + 1 salad) Drinks $30 = $91 including tax Food: Mile high meatloaf, Crayfish boil, and Caesar salad. Service: slow (but it was busy after all) Would I return: No Positive points: ~The sausage in the crayfish boil was delicious. ~We were able to grab a beer while we waited outside. ~Patio looks nice Why the 2 out of 5: ~For some reason, with an hour long wait I excepted the food to be a good not OK. ~My friend's meatloaf though large in portion, the center was mushy. Don't get me wrong it was cooked, but texture wise it was like baby food. Perhaps it had to do with portion to cooking time ratio? ~Caesar salad was drenched in dressing. ~Everything in the crayfish boil was under-seasoned. (expect the sausage which both the boy on our table thoroughly enjoyed) ~Yes, it was busy, but it took about 20 minutes to get someone to our table. Once we ordered, she checked on us twice. ~Noise level is high. I guess in the end I've had better when it comes to price-taste-portion value. Either way, it was an experience nonetheless. I got to spend time with my friends from back home, and have a few drinks.

This was the fourth time we have been to BIllie G's in the last month or so. Every other time the food and drink have been great. Tonite was HORRIBLE!!!!! Some of the drinks were ok but for some reason they couldn't figure out the first or second Moscow Mule. All lime juice very little ginger beer or vodka. Despite my complaints with the first . Whatever We ordered trash wings and 20 minutes later had to reorder -- they seemed to forgot about us . Four out of five of our dinners came to the table COLD. Sent them back and and they came back cold again . At that point we gave up. Greg ( I assume a manager) comped our meals. . Don't know if I would waste time or money going back.

Visited this location twice more since my original review so I think an update is required. One time a group of ten ladies came for my sisters bachelorette party. She had a scavenger hunt game to play that consisted of doing silly things or asking strangers to do silly things. At one point in the night she had to kiss a bald mans head and the whole patio started chanting for her to, "kiss his head!", it was a blast & everyone seemed to get a kick out of it. Our dear waiter was a saint. He had to put up with us obnoxious females and did so exceptionally. He even brought the bride to be some bread out after the kitchen closed because the poor dear needed something to consume besides alcohol. Take note this was a Saturday evening. The only thing I have to comment about on my other visit was our table location. They have about three high tops jammed into the far back corner behind he serving station & they are terrible! I felt like a reject who wasn't good enough for a nice table with an umbrella on this miserably hot day. I also could not see the Cardinals game. Granted I could have asked to be seated else where or stayed at the bar so no one else is to fault. Just think they should rethink those tables. Maybe even open the doors up so the restaurant flows into the patio. It seems that it was they are intended to do. Side note; I ordered a buffalo chicken salad & my boyfriend a pizza. My salad was HUGE & worth the price & his pizza was delicious! Moral of the story; go to Billy G's the service is impeccable & everyone their is just lovely!

Good place in downtown Kirkwood. A few highlights: + French dip sandwich is huge but they don't sacrifice quality for quantity. Very good beef, well seasoned, good bread, etc. + Shaved brussel sprouts offered as the vegetable of the day. Tossed with olive oil, salt, pepper and then sauteed. Perfect little dish and one I will try at home. The only negative is their pricing. The sandwich with the side (included) plus a soda, tip and tax was about $16. This is a bit more than I like to spend for lunch. I would have been a lot happier with 1/2 the size on the sandwich and a price point that would have had me out the door for $12-13.

Prices were high, food was mediocre. I ordered the pasta primavera it was 14.99 and was a very large portion. However it was lots and lots of pasta and not quite enough veggies. But worse than that was it was pretty much flavorless. Three of my party ordered it and we all felt the same. We emptied the parmesan shaker trying to give it flavor along with adding salt and pepper. I usually don't salt any food. Sad when you spend $27 for one person to eat and leave unsatisfied. I doubt I will return.

What is not to like about Billy G's? My husband and I have been here twice, first time was a quick in and out, but we both agreed we wanted to go back and enjoy it next time. This time we went on a Sunday around 12:30p and sat in the bar area this time around. We sat in the bar area. If it hadn't raining we would have sat out on the deck, which is large and beautiful. Our waitress, Emily, was quick to greet us and get things started. I got the Blackberry Smash Lemonade with Jack Daniels (came in a cute mason jar with a straw) and hubs got Raspberry Tea (in a regular glass). Both drinks were very good! We both ordered pretty much the same thing as we wanted bbq; we got the 1inch thick bbq pork steak. He got fries and a Caesar salad and I got fries and baked beans-both came with corn bread. The Caesar salad was amazing. The dressing was very good and the salad was fresh, I'm very picky about my Caesar, so I'm glad he let me try it so I know next time. The pork steaks were amazing-smoked, tender, absolutely to die for. The baked beans were very good with onions and seasoning for a kick. The fries were also yummy and the corn bread was good, could have used some butter. We didn't have enough room to eat it all and we had to have it packed up in to go boxes, which they did for us. I believe the pork steak meal was $12 and the smash lemonade was $8. We walked out paying $55 including tip and we didn't really want dinner and we could NOT eat dessert, though we wanted to! Their dessert menu is from The Blue Owl in Kimmswick. It had Gooey Butter Cheesecake---I NEED a to try this! :) The atmosphere is good... You can tell its a good hang out for 21-40 year olds in the evenings/nights and during the day it's a great place for family. The decor is kinda rustic modern with copper ceilings, black trim, beautiful wood windows/character from the orig building and modern lights. The building is attached the Kirkwood 1 Fire Station and has been fully rehabbed into this establishment. It's a good place to go if you want to walk around old Kirkwood before or afterwards. Parking isn't too much of an issue. We really enjoyed ourselves here and look forward to a nicer day out to enjoy the patio in the evening with friends.

This places was much nicer than I expected it to be. I was assuming it to be like a bar. The pretzel bites with cheese are so yummy :) I had the strawberry smash cocktail for $9 was not bad. Would have been happy with $7 cocktail though. Service was fine. Took awhile for him to come by and get to-go boxes and the check, they box it up for you in the back which I hate that. French dip was flavorless. Would not order it again. My boyfriend had the pulled pork sandwich and it was tummy. His mom had the pork steak and she loved it. She will be able to eat at least 2 meals with it.

For the extremely busy night (which at times creates a good vibe), nicely dressed patrons, and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere, I am really shocked that I need to write a negative review. The appetizers were nothing special. While I recognize that nachos are not fine dining, I was hoping for a bit more. The platter of chips was huge, but the toppings were scarce. Whenever I see a reference to "our" as in "topped with our Smokehouse Chili" I expect that it is some sort of signature. I need to lower my expectations in this case. The trashed wings were nothing notable, except those came with "our house hot sauce." I am still not sure about those pretzel bites. My wife kept referring to them as "greasy" which was a good description, but I cannot figure out how they made them greasy. I read some of the other reviews and we must have just snagged the one bad server. She was inattentive to the point that we began challenging her with typical signs that a guest needs something, i. e. moving empty drink glasses to end of table, turning around looking for her trying to catch her eye. Needless to say, it came to a point that we just gave up on drinks and asked for the check. I do have to say that the patio looked really cool. It was too cold to sit out there, but I can see how that would be a great place to hang out for drinks.

Came back a few weeks after our first experience, and while its still a pretty solid place to dine (especially due to their awesome patio), they've got a lot of work to do to get their service running better. We sat by the kitchen and saw the entire counters under the heat lamps packed with sandwiches not going out to customers. At one point 10 waiter/waitresses were milling about in the corner exit of the kitchen complaining to a manager about "hour wait times" and the expiditor and chef yelling at each other over food orders. Our food was fairly quick, we just ordered sandwiches... Came out before the table behind us and they weren't too happy about that. Once we ate, however, it took half an hour to get our check. Not too impressed with our second visit.

So a few month back I was let go from this restaurant and I was a little upset at the time and wrote a very mean review that was to be fair untrue and regengeful after being unemployed for a year after leaving the military I had a little bit of hate for the first place to hire me and let me go. But I knew when I signed up that they would be over hiring and letting people go. So I would like to retract my previous review and like to say it is actually a very nice place to eat, great food, good atmosphere for fun and drinks and probably the best place to go in Kirkwood. So I would like to say best of luck and Billy G's is the best place in Kirkwood to go eat. Cheers

Great everything, honestly. Love the place, food, and experience. But $5.75 for a draft beer is obnoxious for a young couple living in the area...had two beers and a dinner each and beer was over half our bill. Only thing holding us back from being regulars. Maybe because they're new they're seeing what they can get away with, but I hope it comes down. Great spot otherwise. Get those taps open outside too!

Three strikes and they're out! If you even think you might want a second drink at some point over the course of an hour or more, you have to order 2 at once. The service is unbelievably slow! In the three times I've been there, I haven't had good experiences with the food at all! During one visit, I didn't know what the redfish was, so I asked our server. She had no clue and just scrunched up her face and shrugged her shoulders rather than finding out for my friend and me. We both ordered it anyway, and were extremely disappointed! It was like a piece of rubber with a layer of fat...totally inedible, and priced at $23, it should've been delicious and flaky! The server took it off our bill and the manager did come to apologize. I mentioned this to another friend who I knew was going there the same evening. She said she relayed our experience to the people in her group. However, two people ordered it despite her warning. They had the same results and had to send it back. You would think after ours came back and they saw what it looked like in the kitchen, they would have re-evaluated the situation and either totally stepped up their game or removed it from the menu for the evening. I've also had the pasta con broccoli, which came with a tasteless slop of a way too thick cheese and separated butter mixture on noodles with a few pieces of overcooked broccoli. Nowhere near worth the calories and completely tasteless. Even Pasta House does a better job on that one! I have been completely disappointed all three times I've been to this place. I have heard this from everyone I know who's been there as well. The only redeeming feature is the patio. My friends and I have decided we will never eat there again, but may go have a drink or two. We know we'll have to order all drinks for the night at once! As popular as this place is because it's new right now, they really need to step up their game or they won't last very long. Too bad because it's in a great location and the area is starving for something fresh and new.

I can't even write about the food because I wasn't able to try it. This post is more about the service. A group of friends and I tried to go up to watch some Cardinals baseball in the bar. The bar wasn't filled and had open tables. I tried to sit down to post up a spot before the game started but was approached by a manager and was told the entire bar was rented out for the night. Now call me crazy but who allows the entire bar to be rented out for a Cardinals playoff game? I told the manager I had 4-5 guys on their way and we ready to stay and eat for the game. He told me they could only offer us a table where we completely away from the crowd. Who wants to cheer by themselves for playoff baseball? That was all he could offer so begrudgingly we left to Bar Louie. Really wanted to try this place because it is local owned and have heard good things, however, it will take a lot to get me back based on this. Maybe I can be convinced otherwise if I continue to hear positive reviews.

One of my ALL time favorite go to places! Awesome outdoor atmosphere, as well as indoor. Crab cake appetizer is comparable to any crab cake EVER! House salad has fresh garden taste as well as the fantastic jalapeño bread with the"southern grits and shrimp" was delicious!! I can't say enough about how responsive and attentive the staff & manager has been! Many times I have been approached and helped earlier than predicted by wait staff. When walking in I expect them to yell out my name to make me feel "at home"! Recommend BBQ pizza which comes out looking great and tasting better!

Billy G's is great. Pretzel bites, pizza, and tuna appetizer are favorites. On weekends there is BBQ on the menu and it's all good. Of course the Italian dishes are excellent given this family's heritage. It's a long wait on Friday & Saturday night, but worth it. Now with music on the outdoor patio while the weather is nice. Kevin the bartender rocks.

Louis.

The atmosphere is great! The food is good but not great. We had great service. The food looked like it was going to awesome but it was lacking in flavor.

Food was average and service was well below average. Two reasons for my 2-star rating. One, the waitress was terrible and, two, the food took 45-50 minutes to arrive. Will not go back.

Enjoy!

  • Karen M.

Very large portions, highly seasoned, and if you want it - it's probably on the menu. Foodies - read between the lines. Those with no palette - enjoy!

My husband ended up not feeling so well that evening. So I would suggest staying away from the Salmon, otherwise we enjoyed the dinner and atmosphere.

Totally accommodating to vegans! They have several items on the menu that can be turned vegan including the black bean burger and a pasta dish. The outside patio is wonderful. 1000% better than that yucky restaurant there before.
