Amazing experience at this B&B. It's really more a mansion than just a BED. It was so gorgeous. This house is huge with three bedrooms and sitting spaces/ lounging areas, and a hot tub enclosed in a glass sunroom. Fabulously landscaped grounds surround the house and a large covered patio and another uncovered patio with fire pit create great ambiance for social gatherings. The home is exquisitely decorated. Art pieces include replicas of John William Waterhouse and John Collier, among others, transporting you to a place of decadent and rich beauty. Water nymphs and Cleopatra adorn the walls. Breakfast in the morning was delightful! The savory biscuits smeared with homemade strawberry preserves were a favorite. I HIGHLY recommend this B&B, a great weekend getaway if you like in the Saint Louis region!

This is a spot to go for many reasons other than simply a satisfactory dining experience. The concept of The Blue Rose compound which provides meaningful employment as well as living quarters for developmentally challenged people is wonderful. Located on a fabulous high bluff overlooking The Mississippi River, the location couldn't be better or more scenic. Bird feeders next to the windows overlooking the view provide fun sightings and enjoyment while waiting for your meal to be prepared. We were glad to have stumbled upon this spot and will surely remember this as a highlight of our trip.
I have to say I wasn't quite sure what to expect when turning off of 79 into the Village of the Blue Rose but once you're down the winding driveway that leads to the 'village' you're warmly welcomed by several small buildings and quaint homes that makeup the Blue Rose and the accompanying B&B. Lunch was great and I must say I couldn't have been happier supporting such a worthy cause that provides this small community of developmentally disabled individuals a place to call their own in which to live and work. The shining gem of the Blue Rose in my opinion in the location on the top of the bluff, and their viewing deck offering the best view of the river and the local nesting Eagles in the state. I've been numerous so-called destinations for eagle viewing in Missouri and the Blue Rose is the only that truly lives up to that description. The vantage pointed spectacular and the locale is so untouched that the Eagles literally fly overhead. I don't know anywhere else that offers such a fantastic opportunity to see these birds in such a setting.
Picture a quiet dining room. It's clean, it's cozy, and it has a beautiful view overlooking the Mississippi River. The servers are focused on making sure you have everything you need and the best experience possible. You have delicious food in front of you-- but not for long! The check comes and it's less than you're accustomed to paying. This is the typical experience when you eat at the Blue Rose Restaurant. The Village of the Blue Rose is a place where adults with developmental disabilities work (in stores, a B&B and a restaurant) and live (in housing) and on the large property in Clarksville. I have had many a filling meal at the Blue Rose. Clarksville has some unique stores and antique shops, and I love to unwind after a day of shopping by gazing out at the river, studying the fall colors or the swooping eagles or the blooming spring or the green summer... and then I love to shop in the several dirt cheap shops on the Blue Rose property.
