Had Orange chicken and fried beef rice. I'm from los Angeles so I won't be eating here again any time soon. But god was it good! Lots of food and cheap! You'll love it!

5 star value- QUANTITY, actually bite into sized piece meat & freshly cooked 3 star for being "Americanized" & lower flavor 2 star dine-in dive experience & no delivery (take-out is best) I had $5.10 Hunan chicken combo plate & a $1.50 16oz bowl of hot & sour soup. 2nd visit Braised Shrimp combo (no veggies) 3rd visit- I got $5.10 combo Chicken & Veggies in garlic sauce with $0.30 extra bean sprouts (best meal so far) -Combo plates are available @ all hours (I got mine @ 8:30 PM on a Saturday night.) -Combo plate's 2 Crab rangoon (not very well stuffed) are in a separate bag because there is no room in the styrofoam container -huge bed of pork fried rice -HUGE pieces of chicken & veggies that I ate in bites -I went back for braised shrimp. They gave nice size pieces of shrimp also -the soup for $1.50 with bag of crunchy noodles was big enough for some peoples complete meals (not me) -I liked how thick with ingredients the soup was, but seemed to be missing mushrooms. (It maybe just my 16 oz serving) -they have "extras" on the menu like bean sprouts that can dress up a meal for 30 cents.

I am a Chinese connoisseur. I've had Chinese in St Louis from everywhere from Frontenac to funky town. the best that I have found any where is China house in Bridgeton. the restaurant seems very clean, you can watch them cook your food, and it taste remarkable. if you're ordering food at lunch time, phone ahead or you'll have to wait. the portion sizes are huge. The first time I ordered a combo plate I asked them if I had the right order because it was so large. bottom line is I'm glad I found this place because good and consistent Chinese is hard to find.

The terrible customer service takes a backseat to the amazing taste and quantity of the food! Huge portions of food! The hot braised chicken combo plate is the best in Stl! Order ahead of time so you don't have to wait forever!

We love this place! You can't beat the amount of food you get for the price and it's always fresh and hot. We have ordered from here for 5 years and have never been disappointed. Other places are more expensive and just don't compare. Even though it's small, China House is our place for good Chinese cuisine.

If you're looking for a decent chinese restaurant china house is the place. The serving size is sufficient and the price is right. Call ahead if ordering they can become busy pretty fast they also have an eating area if you prefer dining in. The orange chicken is good with real pieces of orange in the sauce.

There's no comparison! This restaurant serves delicious food at a great price. The portions are more than generous. I've tried a few other places and to me it is just not the same as far as taste. Don't expect anything spectacular when you walk in. It's just your regular place, although I will admit that this one is very clean. Much cleaner than most. Seating is available as well for dining in, but the Restaurant is so small that many people who are waiting for their orders to carry out are the only ones sitting at the tables.

Sorry, but I do NOT understand how their rates are so high. I called in my order, gave my phone number as a means to track my order, arrived 20mins later, was advised my order was not ready, waited another 30mins, went back up to the counter to inquire about my order, and it was sitting on a table in a bag. Got the food home to my family and everyone agreed it was NOT great. We threw away the remaining uneaten food and ordered a pizza. If you're desperate, then this is your place. You get what you pay. I got mediocre food for a mediocre price. FOOD WAS TERRIBLE!

If you're a native St. Louisan, then you know that there is a difference between county rice and city rice (and you'll also know what those terms mean). STL County rice usually has peas & carrots, and just tastes different all together. So when China House first opened, being that Bridgeton is the county, we thought it'd be the same ole boring county rice. Wrong, were we! To our surprise and delight, we had city rice in the county! It's tastier (greasier), sans those pesky peas & carrots, and it's so good! I don't eat meat, so my normal order is Plain Fried Rice, no egg, extra green onions + extra red pepper. They have these crispy french fries, which I love to get with my rice, in what has to be one of the weirdest food combinations. Warning: there is cross contamination of all foods, so check your order before you leave and as you're eating. I often have to pick out pieces of egg from my rice. Only once did I find a piece of meat. I didn't complain about it, I just picked it out. Also, the rice has sometimes had a burnt flavor. I've noticed this when I ordered later in the evenings. Not sure what that's about. My non-veg*n family loves their dishes too, from egg foo young, to fried rice dishes, to combination plates & St. Pauls. I agree on the large portions, especially for the combination plates. My kids would eat off of a combo plate for days. Cheap eats. Open late on weekends. Weekends and lunch times are extremely busy, so I suggest calling in your order. If you get a busy signal, keep trying. You'll be glad you did. ($5 minimum order for credit/debit card usage.) Located off of the Rock Road, west of Lindbergh, in the shopping area behind IHOP, and between the Schnucks & Home Depot. I no longer live in STL, but when I went home last weekend, this was one of my first stops. NO ONE does fried rice like the STL, and China House does STL rice right!

I was staying at a hotel near this place for about 2 months for business and probably ate here 4 times a week! The taste is delicious, the quantities are HUGE. I seriously could eat on a 'lunch' combo for 3 meals. I ordered the hot braised wings often which are messy but great! Served on top of a hill of tasty fried rice. You also get 2 crab rangoon with the lunch combo. Lunch combos are around $6ish...

Whenever I am staying at a hotel near the St. Louis airport, I make a point of stopping by China House. Although this little joint has a half dozen tables, I have never seen anyone eat here - this is a carry-out place all the way. So ignore the trashy eating area (see pic) and just order to go. I always get the potstickers that feature a pork-laden filling inside thick homemade skin. Since potstickers are just an appetizer, I can't help myself and make the mistake of ordering a dish that I won't be able to finish. Yes, the potstickers (6 for $3.50!) will fill you up. Someday I'll learn. Someday.

Great food @ a unbeatable price. The Beef and vegetables w/ white rice is amazing, as are the vegetable noodles.

Fabulous food. Don't worry about atmosphere, table service or presentation because this ain't P.F. Chang's. That being said, if you want delicious, cooked to order fresh food, this is your place. I had the Kung Pau Chicken and it was fantastic. The portions are enormous and not even 6'2" hungry me could finish. I had to take it home. My son got the Lo Mein Noodles with braised shrimp which also looked excellent. We ate there but the orientation is for take out. They have a few tables you can eat at, but you get those little plastic forks which bend with the heat of your fresh cooked meal. I didn't see any chopsticks. Drinks are out of a cooler and come in bottles or cans. We ate there which was a lot of fun. It is an ethnically diverse area so all sorts of people from all strata of society were in and out while we ate. Everyone was there for one thing: Great food at a very reasonable price. We had two "whole" entrees, two egg rolls and two drinks for $18.

Dive Chinese carry out joint in strip mall between Schnucks grocery store and Home Depot that serves up made from scratch, cook to order deliciousness that is some of the best Chinese takeout you can find, anywhere. The pot stickers are hand made on site and stuffed with loads of pork. Their "Hot Braised" is a healthier alternative to deep fried but still full of flavor. Located near the St. Louis airport, this place is so popular with travelers that passengers with a long enough layover will call ahead with their order and take a cab to get their food and get right back to the airport. Free wifi thanks to the Home Depot next door is a bonus for anyone who dines in at one of 4 tables available because they can't wait to get home before the eat.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
