Like a few other yelpers, we also found this experience to be underwhelming. I had the November burger special (turkey, stuffing, and cranberries) Good, but had the potential to be great Hubs had the Jake's burger which he said was ok We shared the fries and onion rings - both were meh...rings are frozen from a bag and we assume the fries were too. The menu board is right behind the registers and a bit small. If you are new to this place, you hold up the line trying to determine what you want to order. I also think the place is a bit confused, seems like a "fast food" experience with ordering; however the food takes a while to come out and is auctioned off by calling out names, which interrupt dinner conversations. (Table numbers would be a better option in my opinion.) Not a horrid experience; however not one I'll need to repeat too soon.

Service was great and staff friendly, but the burger was just ok. More grease than actual flavor. The shake was really good. Dining room was freezing cold. Not sure how they didn't notice that half of the guests had their jackets on. Hope they cane make some improvements. Until them it's Five Guys for me.

I'd been anticipating the opening of Jake's for some time now. Sadly, I found it to be somewhat underwhelming. The malt was the highlight of the meal and had that lovely, old-time diner feel to it. Onion rings? Good, but no better than anywhere else. Which beings me to the burger and the reason for two stars. As I brought the Reuben burger up to my mouth to take my first bite, at least five tablespoons of grease ran from the back of my burger onto the paper in the tray. I know that burgers aren't necessarily "health food", but this was a woeful amount of grease and really has turned me off from coming back for their staple food. I may grab a malt now and then, perhaps try one of their hotdogs. But daggummit stay away from those burgers if you want to live to see your 40's!

Great food!! SUPER service!!! Everyone was so friendly and nice, they even gave us an order of house made chips for free! The restaurant was clean and comfortable - we will definitely be back!

Very mediocre. With so many burger places emerging, this place isn't one that I will have to visit again. The burger was fine, nothing interesting or special. The fries were fine. Again, nothing interesting or special. The malt was fine too. The smaller malt and burger options were nice. The place was clean, staff efficient. I am not a big fan of waiting to have my name yelled out when my food is ready. Probably will not visit here again.

Tucked in the corner of City Centre Shoppes. Good, fresh burgers... no mushy mess like Five Guys. Son had a malt that was yummy & a hotdog. Onion rings are very good. Friendly staff.

I guess I'm going to echo some of the comments in previous reviews. I was rather unimpressed with our trip to Wayback. The menu has a lot of potential. But the execution just didn't work. We ordered two burgers and two sides. Three of the four items were delivered to the table wrong. I ordered a pretty basic cheesy burger with bacon and their gold sauce. What I got was a plain cheesy burger. When I took it back to the counter to get corrected, they lifted the bun and put two of the thinnest pieces of bacon I've ever seen on top of the burger. Then they handed me a plastic cup of gold sauce. My wife ordered a turkey burger with grilled onions. It came with raw onions. To correct that they made a new sandwich which arrived with onions that were hot, but still white and firm. Not sure what they think a grilled onion is. The cheese fries were exactly as expected, although I gotta say the cheese doesn't add much to the fries. The side of home made BBQ chips arrived and were plain chips. Not bad for chips, but not the BBQ chips I ordered. I didn't bother to try and correct that. You only get one chance to make a first impression, and Waybacks failed on this one. As for taste, I've had better. The burgers weren't bad, but not much to really talk about. Five Guys doesn't have anything to worry about from Waybacks. With so many places to get a burger, I can't see any reason to go back to Waybacks.

My husb, tween daughter, and I came here last weekend, and again tonight because a friend gave us a Groupon. My husb had the Cheesy Burger, I had a SW Chipotle burger, and my daughter gets the kids meal, but has the single burger made like their grown-up pepperoni pizza burger. We get an order of onion rings to share, and all pick at the fries that come in our daughter's kid's meal. On the first visit we tried the shakes as a treat, and on this visit gave the chili a try. The food was served quickly. The burgers were all hot, juicy, and plentiful. Folks here are friendly. The place is clean and comfortable. Great onion rings, nice fries, and the chili was pretty good. And considering the full meals we ordered, the price was great, (to be fair, not taking the Groupon into consideration.) We like it here much better than Culvers, which we used as a baseline. Smashburger costs more & is not as good. It's better than the table service casual dining restaurants AND costs a lot less. We really like the place and will back!

It's ok. The burgers are different from typical, however that does not make it better. The patties are too mushy.

Had the southwest burger and they had extra hot sauce available. Nice touch. Good fries and onion rings. I like it better than smash burger or five guys.

This is one of those places that's easy to miss, we only noticed it when we picked up a pizza at Rocco's next door and thought that one day we would give it a try. On Saturday, we did just that. Unless you have been there before, the menu on the wall (right behind where you order), can be a bit overwhelming. We had to move out of the way for someone in line behind us just so we could get a good look at what they had to offer. The lady at the register, who also happened to be one of the owners, was very nice and gave us a quick rundown of what they had. I had the Classic cheeseburger and my wife went with the Philly burger. For sides, I had the Chili cheese fries and my wife had the Irish Nachos. Both sides are big enough for 2 to 3 people by themselves! The chili was very good on these, the owner told us they were her grandfather's secret recipe. The burgers were also very good. The patty's were thin and juicy which made them easy to eat, they almost melted in your mouth, unlike other burgers we have had elsewhere. They had a nice flavor and the added toppings were fresh. The owner suggested we try the shakes saying they are made with real vanilla beans, but thought that would have been too much with what we had. Maybe next time. The place was very clean and there were workers that came by to take away your plates when you were done. All in all, we were very happy with the service and the food. We will be back.

Sorry but for a burger joint it was just ok...not a very flavorful or juicy burger....definately have had better. The bun was cold making the thin burger taste cold. Not much taste going on.

Always anxious to try a new burger chain. An upside down grilled egg type bun burger loaded with cheese and pickles was good enough for me. There's a decent wrapper in the basket to pick it up with, too. Skip the Irish nachos, nothing Irish about chili over thick potato chips. Companion enjoyed his patty melt as well. I never heard of this chain, still waiting on In n Out and NuWay. Friendly service.

The burger was too greasy and soggy. The fries were limp and almost inedible. I'm adding 1 star for the tasty orange creamsicle milkshake and the super nice employees.

I had my doubts knowing it was a chain, but everything in here really is reminiscent of old time burgers. My southwest burger was very tasty and the fries are as fries should be. The shake was thick and actually tasted like chocolate, unlike a lot of the other burger places where you can't tell the difference between vanilla and chocolate shakes. I much prefer it to Five Guys. I will definitely return.

I was in the impression that this was going to be an In-n-out Burger alternative. But boy was I wrong. The burgers were so tasteless. Good service made me give this 3 stars but the food was meh.

We visited here before Thanksgiving and were surprised that they also had turkey burgers. The wait was quite long after we got our order in. Anyways, it is much better than your typical BK, McD's, etc. There are even shakes available and I got the caramel apple. The shake had little apple bits which I didn't expect and pleasantly surprised. We will be back for sure... Also, they had nice specials like the Thanksgiving turkey burger with stuffing and cranberries.

Worth a try for something low key. Very comparable to Five Guys & SmashBurger, maybe right in the middle of the two. Staff (owners) very nice and the rest of te crew very pleasant. Clean place and very good service. The Shakes were very good, but a little spendy. We tried the Cheese fries which were good enough. A side order is good for two to three people. The burgers were pretty good and everything tasted fresh. We will go back but when convieniant.

Stopped in to try one night for take out. I put in an order for three of us. Took about 15-20 mins to get the order. Burgers were good, cant say special. fairly overcooked that caused them to be dried out and coulda used a shake of seasoning. The grilled chicken sandwich that one person got was very good from what they said. It looked good too!. We didn't try to shakes. The order of fries was huge! Enough to split between two. Would we go back? Yes... the place was clean.. The service that we had was very friendly with a smile. Our big ding was things were a bit over cooked.

One of the newest trends to hit cities is the "craft" burger fast food stop! From 5 Guys to Smash Burger to one of the originals, Burger Time, they seem to be popping up everywhere, but is one of them really better than the next? I'm not a huge supporter of the chains, but I will occasionally test the market to see if something is worth eating. This is going to be posted at some of the others I have mentioned as a cross referenced review to be fair, but I will say - If you've had one from one place, you've had them all! Nothing really setting them apart from each other besides maybe the size of the burger, some of the creative toppings and the bun. As for the burger itself though, flavors is pretty basic and similar from place to place. The distribution or supplier may just be a little different as well. All-in-all, I'll stick to the ma and pa, one off's for my burger fixes. They're just better!

Personally, the burger meat was good, but a lot of the same old stuff already being done. Decent but not over the top. The owners were super nice and hard working, the atmosphere is super clean. My son loved his chocolate malt. I wouldn't drive from Hudson to Woodbury again just to eat here but I'd stop in if in the neighborhood. Next time I'll try a more personalized burger creation which they do offer!

I have had a craving for chili cheese fries lately. Wanting to try a new burger joint is always on the agenda to. So I decided to give Waybacks a shot at my beef eating dollars. I was able to take off work early and this place is kinda on my way home. That is a real good thing for me. Unless it is a special occasion or I am in the neighborhood for another reason, I do not like to travel far for eating adventures. I was able to place my order quickly, but waited a bit before deciding what burger I wanted. It didn't take more than a minute or 2 to decide on the Southwest Chipotle Burger. A double beef, double pepper jack cheese, with jalapenos and a chipotle mayo burger. I placed my order for the burger, chili cheese fries and a regular beverage. It was rung up and came to $14.00. I was kinda surprised at first, then did the quick add, 6 for the burger, 5 for the fries and 2 for the drink. OK, kinda grumbled a bit because I knew the chili cheese fries were not meant for one dining alone and getting a sandwich to. It is not a side dish, like fries. It is an appetizer meant to be shared with 2 teenagers or 4 adults. I wanted my chili cheese fries and I got them. But paid plenty too. The burger was quickly prepared and brought out to me by the cook. I was told the chili cheese fries will be shortly. I thought about waiting for the fries, but my stomach overruled my thoughts. The burger was in a pie tin type of dish, lined with a newspaper print food paper. Not sure what the newspaper print food paper does for this place. I guess they wanted to do something different. And customers pay an extra nickel for the research on the brain storming session they did to make this silly decision. I pick up my burger and immediately see that it is very lightly formed. Pieces of meat were ready to fall off. Lightly formed is generally a good thing, but I want it to stay together too. Then the meat started sliding around and I thought it was going to slide off the bun. I had to be very careful eating to make sure that did not happen. This is definitely a sandwich that needs both hands to hold down the moving cow. It didn't moo, so I knew it was dead. But I did wonder for a minute. I finished my burger and now my chili cheese fries are brought to me. They looked very good. Plenty of meaty chili and melting cheese. They were as expected. Meaty enough. Cheesy enough. And too much for one person. I tried to get a sample of the chili only, no cheese, no fries, to taste the chili alone. It could use more flavor. But this a chain and they want to deliver to palates of a wide range of customers. And their silly brain storming session told them, "lets keep it mild". The standard 80/20 rule. I have no idea how their chili cheese fries compare to other places. I have not had them in many years. It will be many years before I have them from Waybacks again. Unless they have a serving size more appropriate for one or two diners. And a price to match. The burger was very good, just slid around too much. Staff was pleasant and attentive. The table I sat at was not wiped, but it was not so unappealing that I chose another table. There were plenty of other tables available at this 2 PM visit.

Had a coupon for a free Jake Burger and was eager to try this place out. Who doesn't like going on a Burger Expedition? First things first, I think they are still working out some of the kinks, and I will be sure to update my review when I go back. Burger was good, but there was nothing "Wow" about it. Its on par with I would put it a slot below 5 Guys, and above SmashBurger with their grease bombs. My manager from CA said it was the closest he has had to In n Out in Minnesota...he must have lived by a bad In n Out in CA. The veggies were fresh, the bun was soft (although a bit flat) and it was not overly greasy. Since I was not in the mood for fries, I got a chicken ceasar salad as a side. Not sure why a place like this has this on the menu with burgers, fries, and shakes, but I figured, oh hell why not. While the lettuce was fresh (and FYI-its romaine on the burgers, too) Their was waay too much lettuce, the chicken was underwhelming, and I needed more dressing. Service-Cashier was extremely friendly, so much so when she accidentally charged me for 2 sodas I just said to give the other one to the guy behind me in line and not to worry about it. I agree with the previous review about the servers bringing out food...just walking around hollering out names is a bit weird. What if there are 2 Ryans and each have a burger and fries? Will the universe cease to exist if that Paradox presents itself?

Food was pretty good. I had the Rueben burger. Yummy. The owner was extremely friendly and we enjoyed our meal inside. It was clean (but its new so that makes a difference.). They are still new only open a week so they don't quite have a rhythm yet so give yourself time when you go in. They'll get there. The burgers were the best. The orings left something to be desired. Small portion for the money. Hands above Smash burger both the shakes and burgers and fries which were great! and glad they don't serve their food on a stainless steel grate!

Did not get our order correct. We had a to-go-order and when we get home, we open the bag to find plain burger with bacon. Not a burger with the "works" that we ordered. The employee even read-back the order to us. We were the only ones at the place on a Wednesday night - so it wasn't because they mixed our order up with someone else's!

We tried it, expecting it to not be very that good, judging by the other reviews. We were pleasantly surprised. I love fried burgers, and these were as good or better than 5 Guys. The bacon could be a little more thick and tasty, but it really didnt need bacon because it was very good. The fries are outstanding. More flavorful and less greasy than 5 Guys. My girlfriend said her cod sandwich was the best she ever had.
