We stopped here on our way from Minneapolis to the badlands, driving on 90 West. We could not have been more pleasantly surprised with our decision to stop at the river city eatery. It was a quaint little Cafe with great home made food. The chicken dance sandwich is a must try as it combined flavors and foods I had never tried before. If you're ever traveling on 90 West in Minnesota it is a worth while pit stop for some good grub.

The only place to go in the area, not because it's the only place in the area, but because it's perfect if you want authentic and original in every way.

Great food as well as service. It's a very relaxed fun environment to be in. Nice little place that Windom has to offer.

This place is amazing!! A must have is the Elephant Ear latte. Pesto pasta is great. Service is awesome. I live over an hour away and stop here every time I drive through.

Met up with coworkers here for lunch and we were all left very impressed with the food. The waitresses were smart and attractive (bonus!) and good at their job. Only small complaint is that when it's busy it gets very loud in the dining room.

The appetizers were really good and the portions were huge. Definitely meant to be shared. I had the Chicken Dance sandwich and it was excellent. The flavors melded together nicely. Good service, our waitress was friendly and good about refilling our sodas. Would definitely recommend stopping here.

If you've eaten at a coffee shop in a big city this place won't floor you. The pesto is oily, the menu hasn't changed since it opened a few years ago, and everything is overpriced. River City Eatery is loud, mainly due to the music played. I've eaten here maybe a dozen times and never had a relaxing conversation. The waitresses (they have always been female and young) don't know much about the food. I'm not sure if this is a good place for kids. They do have a kids menu, but I'm not sure about booster seats or high chairs. The noise level would really upset younger children. You may wonder why I've eaten here a dozen times considering I don't love the food. It's pretty simple - no restaurant in Windom is great. Everything is just okay. There is a meeting place in the back for groups, but you have reserve in advance and I believe there is a minimum purchase amount (but I could be wrong). All in all River City Eatery is better than nothing.

Found this place on yelp driving through town last month on our road trip from Phoenix, AZ to Mankato, MN and wow! I'm jealous Windom has such a great place! Ordered a wrap, salad, and kids pastas and everything was terrific. I'm pretty sure the owner, Mari, took my phone order and she recognized me by voice I guess upon walking in to pick up my order. Decor was spot on and the food was great. I miss those small town, home feel places with great food and service! Best of luck!

This place is delicious and quick! The restaurant itself is adorable and very clean. Get anything with pesto on it! Their espresso drinks are also fabulous.

This is a great place, and one of the only places I would eat in Windom. We had breakfast and sat outside (2 tables on sidewalk). Breakfast for 2 was about $15, and the service was great. Nice interior inside and perfect for Windom

Definitely a fun dive with a cool atmosphere for a small town! However, I have not been impressed with the food. The sandwiches are creative, but you can definitely taste what is fresh and what is frozen. The chicken and meatballs in the sandwiches are obviously frozen. The meatball commercial is definitely lacking and the "prime rib" has the texture of an old leather shoe, obviously due to it not being fresh. The owner makes some yummy pies and their pie shakes are creative and delicious! This place has a lot of potential. .but it definitely has stayed open due to lack of competition.

We stopped by this place for lunch before a meeting and it was prettyy good. I don't remember which mocha I got, but it was really good even though it was on the small side. I ordered their veggie sandwich, which came with chips and a pickle. The sandwich paper had really cute newspaper print on it! Haha. The sandwich itself was good; the ingredients were fresh, nothin' to complain about, but nothing to rave about either. The service was really good and the waitress was really nice :).

The food was delicious and the restaurant was baby friendly. I had the Mac and cheese and garden sandwich which both I was pleased with. If you are in Windom, I would check it out!

The chicken dance, super tender chicken on a soft ciabatta with cranberries and apricot honey mustard was delicious. My husband had the special, white chicken chili in a bread bowl, and also thought it was very good. Definite stop for us on future trips through Windom!

My fiance and I were driving through from Minneapolis to Sioux Falls, and we stopped by River City Eatery. We were a little nervous at first- being city-folk and all, but the food was great! They had good options for vegetarians (the hummus/feta/veggies sandwich was delicious). And the chipotle chicken wrap was great too. Definitely a great lunch option for those making the drive, or for those who live nearby!

Really good find. Classy for a small farming town. The Pesto Pasta with Sausage was great! As was the Chicken Dance sandwich. But most of all, a really sweet staff.

Found this place through enthusiastic recommendation of a local. Nice menu. Food was fresh, tasty, nicely presented, and good value. The woman who sever us was very friendly and helpful, and the environment was very pleasant (artwork, low music, nice restrooms, fun salt and pepper sets). We'd certainly go back again.

The chicken sandwich was really yummy. I was irritated that they charged $2.00 extra to REMOVE ingredients from an elderly relative's sandwich. The blueberry, raspberry, lemon ice cream's first bite was full of flavor, but it was mostly blue and got sickening before anyone finished. Berry pie was blah ...very little filling and the crust wasn't good enough to stand alone. Other ice cream looked like it would be good. I'll try the place again because the chicken sandwich was tasty.
