We chose this restaurant based on a local's recommendation and the reviews here on Yelp. We arrived at 415pm to be sure to be able to get a table when the restaurant opens at 5pm. We were the second car to arrive. People started to stand in a line in front of the door at 445pm. We ended up as the fourth party in the restaurant, which ensured we had a table, but we just missed the one table that sits five or six comfortably. So the five of us sat in an oversized booth that we wished was just a bit bigger. The restaurant seats about 45 people. The table ordered an appetizer of a large plate of onion rings. It was plenty for the table. The rings were cooked to a golden brown and had large enough slices of onion to actually taste the onion. The batter was a little bland, but the dipping sauce was very good. It appeared to be ranch-based. We would order the onion rings again. The table ordered two 14 oz filets with mushrooms cooked medium, one 14oz rib-eye with mushrooms cooked medium rare, one 20 oz rib-eye cooked medium rare, and one 14 oz filet with mushrooms cooked medium rare. Every steak was cooked correctly and tasted great. The filets were very tender and even the rib-eyes could be cut with a fork. The side salads were nothing to write home about; just iceberg lettuce with a tiny bit of other vegetables. The salad dressing was thick and tasted good. We ordered the potato wedges as the other side since they do not offer baked potatoes. They were fine, but by then we were all too committed to our steaks to eat much of that heavy side. No wine or liquor is available, but the pitchers of beer were a great price. One pitcher was $6 and filled five or six glasses, as opposed to one beer on tap that costs $3.

I absolutely love their prime rib! The only down side is the lack of space, and our waitress had an attitude problem. Overall it's the place to go if your craving the perfect prime rib dinner!!

I went with a few friends. Me and my fiance was not impressed. Although I would add we are not BIG steak / meat eaters. I ordered the walleye and was not impressed my fiance ordered shrimp and was highly disappointed. I would say my friends was extremely pleased with there steak meals.*Point* if you dont want steak dont go!

This place is about meat. Period. Forget salad, vegetables, shrimp, or anything unrelated to meat, potatoes, and things that go with meat and potatoes, like cheese and grilled onions and sauteed mushrooms. My favorites are the prime rib and filet mignon. Family prefers ribeye. Whatever your meat preference, this is the place for it. The fried cauliflower appetizer was delish, as were the fried cheese curds. We like the twice baked potato for a side. Bring your own bottle of wine or cocktails, since they only serve Beer. They will provide you with glasses and a corkscrew. Been here a dozen times. My favorite meat haven when I'm in the area. Midwest cuisine at its finest. Oh and bring cash. No credit cards.

Love the Bergen bar! Burgers, steaks, and shrimp are wonderful! Very crowded when busy, however. You kinda feel rushed cuz there are always people waiting to be seated. But I still go back again and again so obviously the food is great!

Best steak I've had in awhile. Cheaply priced, and pick the cut you wat. BYO wine or liqueur, $6 pitchers of beer. Be prepared to wait if you don't get there when it opens. Looks like a dive bar, but has an ok patio with a bar window

Awesome. Best Prime Rib ever and we've ate at Ruth's Chris, Morton 's and many others. This place is all about the food. Get there early. They open at 5:00 and by 6:30 the wait was an hour. It is well worth the wait. Twice baked potatoes; home made and really good.

This is just a spot in the road, blink and you may miss it! The restaurant is small, it has a few booths and some tables running in the middle. My husband and I ordered steaks. He got a filet minion and I got the ribeye. The steaks were one of the most delicious ones that I have ever tasted. It was full of flavor, cooked to temperature, and very tender and juicy. I got potato wedges for a side and the were the thick cut ones that are so good!!! Also, they let you BYOA (Bring your own alcohol.) They just charge a little glass fee for it. We really enjoyed ourselves here. The only complaint that I have is that our drinks were not refilled promptly. Overall, a great establishment and the steak here is to die for!

This out of the way steak house has consistently excellent steak in a retro style atmosphere. Be prepared to wait as they do not take reservations nor do they take credit cards. Bring your own wine. Best steaks in Iowa.

Ok, maybe it was just a bad night, but I was not impressed. I had the salad to start and it was your standard dinner club salad. They serve bread, but they are like brown and serve rolls that they microwave and don't bake so they are tough. I had the shrimp and baked potato and the breading on the shrimp was so thick and salty that I wasn't even able to finish it. I ended up having to take the breading off and eating just the shrimp. The wait can be exceptionally long, but we got in right away as it was a Monday night and we were there right when they were opening. The service was horrible....so slow that I was wondering if we were ever going to get our food. Everyone that came in after us was getting their food. The waitress assured us that ours was coming, I'm pretty sure she either forgot to put in our ticket or she put our ticket in out of order. I was very disappointed because i had heard so many good things about this place that I was excited to finally try it.

Small northwoods bar atmosphere with fabulous steaks. Plan on waiting (in your car in the winter or their deck in the summer) but it is well worth it if you are in south central Minnesota. Beer served, BYO wine.

Bergen bar and grill is a great small town restaurant with great food at great prices. The meals for two are very reasonably priced. I don't eat beef so I always get the shrimp or walleye and both are delicious. This is my husbands favorite place for steak, always a good cut and cooked to perfection. They only accept cash so come prepared. Because the place is so small and the food so good expect to wait for a table. It is well worth the wait!
