We chose this restaurant based on a local's recommendation and the reviews here on Yelp. We arrived at 415pm to be sure to be able to get a table when the restaurant opens at 5pm. We were the second car to arrive. People started to stand in a line in front of the door at 445pm. We ended up as the fourth party in the restaurant, which ensured we had a table, but we just missed the one table that sits five or six comfortably. So the five of us sat in an oversized booth that we wished was just a bit bigger. The restaurant seats about 45 people. The table ordered an appetizer of a large plate of onion rings. It was plenty for the table. The rings were cooked to a golden brown and had large enough slices of onion to actually taste the onion. The batter was a little bland, but the dipping sauce was very good. It appeared to be ranch-based. We would order the onion rings again. The table ordered two 14 oz filets with mushrooms cooked medium, one 14oz rib-eye with mushrooms cooked medium rare, one 20 oz rib-eye cooked medium rare, and one 14 oz filet with mushrooms cooked medium rare. Every steak was cooked correctly and tasted great. The filets were very tender and even the rib-eyes could be cut with a fork. The side salads were nothing to write home about; just iceberg lettuce with a tiny bit of other vegetables. The salad dressing was thick and tasted good. We ordered the potato wedges as the other side since they do not offer baked potatoes. They were fine, but by then we were all too committed to our steaks to eat much of that heavy side. No wine or liquor is available, but the pitchers of beer were a great price. One pitcher was $6 and filled five or six glasses, as opposed to one beer on tap that costs $3.
I absolutely love their prime rib! The only down side is the lack of space, and our waitress had an attitude problem. Overall it's the place to go if your craving the perfect prime rib dinner!!
I went with a few friends. Me and my fiance was not impressed. Although I would add we are not BIG steak / meat eaters. I ordered the walleye and was not impressed my fiance ordered shrimp and was highly disappointed. I would say my friends was extremely pleased with there steak meals.*Point* if you dont want steak dont go!

We stopped here on our way from Minneapolis to the badlands, driving on 90 West. We could not have been more pleasantly surprised with our decision to stop at the river city eatery. It was a quaint little Cafe with great home made food. The chicken dance sandwich is a must try as it combined flavors and foods I had never tried before. If you're ever traveling on 90 West in Minnesota it is a worth while pit stop for some good grub.
The only place to go in the area, not because it's the only place in the area, but because it's perfect if you want authentic and original in every way.
Great food as well as service. It's a very relaxed fun environment to be in. Nice little place that Windom has to offer.

McDonald’s

Reviews:
Normally I'd give this McDonald's a better rating. It use to be FANTASTIC. Quick, fresh, and good. It was everything that a fast food place in a small town should be - everyone knew each other. This all changed about a year ago, and I am not sure why. An example? This morning I bought a sausage and biscuit sandwich. The biscuit was hard. I'm not sure if it had been repeatedly heated in a microwave, or if it was just REALLY old. The edges of the biscuit were harder than a tortilla chip, if that helps you understand. The majority of the staff don't seem to care. These are all the new hires that seem to be working a job for the social aspect. The staff that have been there for over a year do seem to care, but they are dragging the dead weight of the new staff. The old staff are going to burn out pretty quickly.
Stopped here with my daughter for a late lunch on a weekday on our way home following shopping and errands. We used the drive thru to place our order. Service was extremely slow. We were told to pull ahead and wait and our order would be brought out to us.. We were one of three vehicles waiting for orders to be brought to our cars. Our order consisted of a Cheesburger, McChicken sandwich, two small fries and two small cokes. When our order was finally brought out we pulled out of the parking lot, proceeded onto the Highway to travel home. As I was driving I told my daughter to wait until we were out of the traffic within the city limits and I would eat my sandwich once I was on the Highway on proceeding home. What a huge disappointment when we pulled our sandwiches out of the bag. My daughter's "Cheeseburger" had no cheese on it, no pickles and hardly any ketchup. I took a bite of my McChicken sandwich only to find ketchup....yes ketchup on my sandwich. There was no lettuce or mayo base on the sandwich, only the chicken patty, ketchup and the bun. I was not sure if this was meant to be a joke or if the staff working the day we stopped was that incompetent and ignorant to not realize you DON'T put ketchup on a McChicken sandwich! The fries were fresh and the two cokes tasted fine, but the sandwiches....unbelievable that they would be that ignorant! We did not turn around and return to the establishment as we had received a $1 off our next order coupon due to their slow service, and we only had paid off the dollar menu for our food. However, I am warning anyone considering stopping at this McDonald's to beware. It is the worst McDonald's experience I have encountered in my lifetime. This place is a disaster waiting to happen if their service continues to be this bad. I will not return here. The one star rating is only because of tasty fries and Cokes we received, otherwise they deserve a 0 star rating in my book.
I'm rating a McDonald's restaurant five stars? Maybe I'm going crazy. But this McDonald's has earned it, especially when compared to other McDonalds. They always seem friendly, they have random deals on food outside of the regular promotions, and they don't charge extra for extra sauces or different sauces. Specifically, they don't seem to care if you try to make a "ghetto Big Mac." I ask for the changes I like to make (sub Big Mac sauce, quarter bun, and slivered onions) and they understand what I'm trying to do, but don't really care. And they don't charge extra for any of the changes! Another time, when I got a 20-piece Chicken McNuggets, I asked how many sauce packets came with it, and the cashier said, "It doesn't matter. We don't charge extra for sauces." Whenever I'm making my runs to/from home or the Twin Cities, I try to make this my fast food stop if I need one on the trip.

This place is really, really good. We were driving through Windom, starving, and this was the only place open. The food was hot and fresh and the customer service outstanding. We wilI definitely be back.
Last time I ate here, The food was good, but only because of the excessive MSG added, I was sick the whole afternoon. My body felt cramped and muscled ached all day. I'm disappointed with their food quality as it is not safe and also super expensive.
