YUM! I am used to going to loc ocampos but we pass this place weekly so decided to stop in. if ambiance is you're thing don't go here. seats are ripped. its in a funky building but one of the workers was cleaning heavily when we ate so cleanliness is not an issue. the food was good! similar menu to los ocampos but you can see the food. almost laid out chipotle style. i opted for authentic tacos with corn tortillas, chopped steak, onions, cheese and cilantro. came with rice and beans. finished my plate, the steak had almost no fat ( a pet peeve of mine). my husband opted for hard shell tacos. half chopped steak, half spicy chicken. the spicy chicken is AMAZING. not only spicy but VERY flavorful. so yummy. my husband ( who is from texas and socal) was in love. we will return here many times :D
So far, my favorite place for quick Mexican in the Twin Cities. All the fillings are fantastic; my usual choice is the spicy chicken, but you really can't go wrong with any of them. I usually get the burrito, but tacos and tortas are occasional selections too...haven't had anything bad yet!
Would definitely eat here again, as the food is good and priced for value. My review would try to avoid a comparison to Chipotle, but here we go: a burrito from *that* place is usually no problem to eat in one sitting, but here at Pineda, I was out of breath 3/4 of the way through. They give you a lot of food and don't skimp on the meat. My one complaint is that the roasted pork meat included pieces of fat, which I noticed and picked them out before eating. Tacos were delicious in the traditional double corn-tortilla. Many choices of meat fillings were available. The building is yellow and pointy, looking a little like a spaceship. Can't say the food is out of this world, but if you're in West St Paul and looking for an inexpensive and filling lunch, check it out.

I have been enjoying this restaurants since I was a child. Their only fault is that they don't have delivery. A newly remodeled bar with great drink specials on the weekends, we are BIG fans of this place and I hope you will be too!
When my extra large family decides to get together, we almost always come here for pizza. When we're all present, there are 27 of us and still growing so you know we're a handful. This Carbone's never blinks. They stick us on the right side of the restaurant because they have a long booth and tables there and they don't really bring other tables to that side so it's almost like having a private room. We love getting their dinner special, 1 large pizza with 2 toppings, cheese bread & a pitcher of pop for $20. It's great when trying to feed all those people. Service has always been good. We almost always end up with 3 sausage & green olive pizzas but they're tasty so we have zero complaints. In fact, I'd venture to say we haven't had a bad experience here to date. Thanks Carbone's!
Good thin crust pizza that's fast and inexpensive. Great place to bring kids or the team. Can handle big groups well. I go for a quick bite when running errands. Old school service from nice high school kids usually. Great family style neighborhood pizza joint.

Too bad the food here sucks because it's so close to my house. I don't think I've ever had a good experience here with food. There has been hair in my pancakes, specks in my water, my grilled cheese was disgustingly cheesy and feel apart, and with my most recent visit my hash browns were literally yellow and tasted like pure butter. The food on the menu always looks so good, but I guess you get what you pay for, cheap. I wish there was someone on the kitchen that actually cares how their food turned out, then they might see a few more faces. Oh, I've also never seemed to have a competent, or timely waitress. Won't be returning.
Despite its unfortunate location on Robert Street, I liked this Baker's square. What stood out the most was the fast and friendly service we got from the hostess and our waitress. They were spot on. The restaurant itself felt clean and (recently?) remodeled. The only reason I won't be returning is that there was not much on the menu that interested me. The french dip was the only thing that I would really order. Too many egg options for breakfast and no pancakes/french toast! Still a solid choice if you have to sit down and dine on Robert Street.
"Service is USUALLY pretty good. Food is standard baker's Square; decent."

I'm really impressed. The ordering process is simple and easy. The food is delicious. My burger and everything on it was done exactly the way I like it. The prices are very reasonable. They have a good variety of foods to choose from including vegetables. Drink selection is small but nice, including both fountain drinks and a few flavors of Jarritos. If you're looking for a burger done exactly the way you want it at a great price you won't go wrong here.
Mass confusion. The cashier didn't know what she was doing, got my order wrong & three of the other members of our lunch party. The food took forever to come out of the kitchen, and when it did, it was cold and not complete. One person was supposed to get fries, they did not, one person asked for them to hold the cheese, it looked like they got extra cheese instead. I had a chicken sandwich that had zero flavor and was cold as ice in the middle. Not one out of 6 of us liked it. We won't be back.
Decent burger... Five Guys is WAY better! That's where I'm headed right now actually... worth the drive to Woodbury!

No 1 New China

Small place with poor ambience. Food was generally average. Good sized portions for decently cheap prices. I probably wouldn't eat there again, but it wasn't bad if you want some decent cheap chinese. The place could definitely use a renovation.
Do you enjoy a smorgasbord of food that, despite having vastly different ingredients, somehow manages to come out the same boring shade of beige? Do you crave a level of grease that is rivaled only by that found in a deep fat fryer (which, coincidentally, I am pretty sure is their most treasured piece of culinary equipment)? Do you have a masochistic personality that loves being treated as a complete and utter incovenience, at best, by the woman at the counter? Then I have JUST the place for you! I stopped in here absolutely STARVING one day. I ordered the sesame chicken and the potstickers. I feel like these are almost impossible to mess up. I have had these dishes at Panda Express and they were good. I have had them from the Co-op, cooked by people with little to no experience with Asian cooking - good. Hell, I've even had them in so called tv dinner form - good. No. 1 New China? Awful....in every sense of the word. Trashtastic .... and not in a good way. I did eat it. And I hated myself for it. I felt as I imagine the 16 year old who runs the fryer at McD's feels. I felt like I could literally sense the grease oozing out of my pores. They couldn't breathe... it was a crisis. At one point I couldn't tell if the grease around my mouth was excess from the food itself rubbing across my lips, or if my face was literally rejecting it as I ingested it. I think it was a little bit of both. That being said, the young man at the counter was extremely personable. The woman...well, best I can say, is bored and slightly aggressive. I had to mentally run through my morning to make sure I hadn't stopped off on my way to work to poop in her morning cereal and perhaps that is why she was so irritated by my existence. I'm pretty sure I didn't. Pretty sure.
So, so greasy. Didn't taste or have texture that Chinese fried foods traditionally have.

5-8 Grill And Tap

Reviews:
The boss offered to pick us up lunch last week and we decided to try this place as it has developed a little bit of local fame over the years for how good the burgers are. I decided on the bleu cheese juicy lucy and fries. The side of coleslaw was the best thing i ate from that lunch. The bun and bleu cheese that was on top of the burger was good. The cheese inside melted all out. The burger meat itself lacked flavor and was a little on the dry side. It was approx 10.00 per person to eat lunch. They do have a large menu with some other options. I will try something other than a burger next time.
I went to the 5-8 Grill and Tap for lunch and it was just ok. The sign by the door said "seat yourself". So I found a booth and did as instructed. But then I started to worry. I was looking around and there wasn't anyone really working to notice me. I started looking at guests and no one actually had food in front of them.... panic set in. I only have an hour lunch break! Suddenly a guy appeared and was very friendly. (Thank goodness) I wasted no time and ordered straight away. Since no one had food in front of them, I decided a Lucy was out due to time constraints and ordered the Montana Jack burger ($9.25). It was supposed to have crumbled blue cheese, chipotle mayo, shredded lettuce and 'famous' onion straws on it. It also came with pickles (bleh) and raw onion on it but neither were listed on the menu. I SO wanted to love this burger. It was nothing to write home about, nothing special - just a burger. Actually, that's a lie. It was freaking boring! I felt like it was missing something, only I can't tell you what it was missing. I dipped in ketchup, that didn't help. I dipped it mustard, that didn't help either. To be fair, I didn't think the ketchup or mustard *would* help. Not 5-8's fault, but there was a dude in the booth across from me talking SO loud which was annoying. Then he started staring at me so it was like I was having a conversation with him, but totally against my will.
Amazing Burger! Had the Taco Lucy. I don think I've ever had anything like it. I'll definitely return!

Good when they aren't busy. When they are busy. There is no method to the madness. Sit and wait as they like giving people's orders away. Apparently first come first serve doesn't apply here
