Upon Walking in to This lovely wide open Tokyo meets Wayzata Restaurant, we were greeted with phenomenal service! All the Food is very fresh & tasted wonderful. We had the Lobster Rolls as well as the 2-14 Rolls, which were Amazing! Then The owner Billy made us a Special roll. Also we enjoyed the Beef udon Soup. Then it was time for Dessert, which of course was the most Delicious Ice-cream we have ever had. The "Green Tea Ice-cream". This place is new to Wayzata but you would never know it. They are Pros at what they do & you can tell from the moment you walk in. I would Highly suggest this place, especially for a nice Date spot!

Absolutely the finest sushi that I have EVER had. Billy is one of the most entertaining and gifted chefs that I have ever had the pleasure to meet.

I rarely write reviews on Yelp unless I feel strongly about an establishment. I read about Sushi Fix on City Pages and was curious enough to drive out 40 minutes from where I live to try it. It was okay and I can definitely say that I have had better--not just because I grew up in Los Angeles with a greater diverse range of sushi options. The service was VERY slow and the sushi was not well wrapped. We had to wait there for an hour (if not more) before our food finally came out. I am not sure if it was because they were understaffed (because it was not a full house when we got there) or if the sushi makers were just slow. The menu options were creative, but I felt that it was not worth the drive and it definitely did not meet the hype I read about. Overall, it was a mediocre experience and I could have gone to Minneapolis for the same sort of sushi and service.

Without question the best Sushi in the Twin Cities! All the fish is fresh daily. You will not find a better presentation and variety anywhere. The rolls are flavor sensations - but if you dare to go outside of the rolls, there are so many creations to try that will make your taste buds happy! Not to mention the chefs are artists - each carefully presented as a masterful work of art. Better than the sushi I had in Hawaii! Japanese traditional training - Billy takes pride in his craft. I like to sit at the bar and never even look at the menu - I ask them to prepare me a dinner and they bring me their best.

Great place! Our first time here and we'll definitely be back. We asked Chef Dan for omakase and he did not disappoint. Great cuts and a nice balance of flavors with his sauces and combinations. We're not big roll eaters, but the 2 he made were worth it - we forgot to ask what they were. But, in all honesty, what difference does it make? If Chef Dan is making it, it'll be worth eating.

I love it. I just love it here. Billy and the gang are so much fun and make it so. The Husband and I go in for date night often and always have a good time. We even bring our kids in (at opening and never much later) and it's still fun. As much as I love the fish, GET THE BEEF UDON!!! It is AMAZING! I crave this stuff. It's rich and warming, everything udon should be. Also, Billy got me Asahi Black after I told him how much I love it. If that's not love...

Billy has transformed the sushi experience. Billy aims to provide a traditional Japanese experience and he wants you to have a good time. We asked about a couple items he didn't have yet, only to be surprised by the appearance of several of our favorite unusual things like Yama Imo or Mt potato and pickled plums on our next visit. The staff is new and it takes a few weeks to work the kinks out, but we truly feel welcomed like old friends every time we stop in. Billy is very dedicated to doing a good job and wants your feedback. Sit at the bar and strike up a conversation, we've learned lots of cool stuff about sushi.

We drive up from Chicago, just to eat at Sushi Fix. The fresh fish is wonderful, and the atmosphere is fun and festive! Billy is the best host and makes you feel as if you have known him forever! He will make recommendations and they are always spot on. And if there isn't something you can find on the HUGE menu, Billy will make you what you want! I don't want to leave out the drinks! He is a bartender supreme! Go to Sushi Fix! Best Sushi in three states!!!

I frequent Sushi Fix when I am looking for just that! It tops any other place I've been in the Twin Cities. They don't have a happy hour but I believe you get what you pay for. They fly fresh fish in and you can really taste the difference. I always bring my sushi loving friends here because it blows every other spot out of the water. Billy adds a special fun authentic flare to the dining experience and the newly added bar with smooth Japanese whiskey and craft cocktails are awesome! I recommend Sushi Fix to all my friends, family and co-workers.... kampai :)

Definitely the best sushi I've ever eaten! All ingredients are so fresh, staff is incredibly friendly and Billy is awesome! I would go every week if I could!

By far and away the very best sushi chefs - and sushi - in the state. Not only great food, but a wonderful, entertaining atmosphere that makes for a great meal. Billy and team: Kampai!

Friendly service. Pleasant environment. Quick seating. Sushi - ok. Out of the items we ordered, we weren't wow'd by any, and they were all ok. Our starters - edamame and seasweed salad - just ok. Something like a Spicy Tuna roll should have been far more flavorful, and the Dynamite and Jackie Chan rolls were ok - nothing to "write home about". Dessert - green tea mochi ice cream - don't get it. Everything, though, was clearly fresh. Would we go again? Probably not any time soon. We'd check out a bunch of other places first before coming back here if we couldn't find anything better.

We have eaten at Sushi Fix at least 50 times now. The sushi has been consistently fresh and exceptional. Whenever we are celebrating a special event, my 13 year old picks Sushi Fix because the service is excellent and the staff is so friendly to her and readily takes time to answer her questions when we sit at the sushi bar. I'm really glad to see the restaurant is expanding because it has gotten busier and busier as people have discovered it. I highly recommend this for the best rolls I've had in a Sushi restaurant.

Great fresh sushi and a great selection of specialty rolls and appetizers. We got the hamachi jalapeño and squid starters and the silly billy and ninja rolls. Also a side of uni ... Everything was delicious and large portions!

Don't let the name or strip mall location scare you off! We NEVER venture outside of Mpls or St Paul for sushi but we did after reading a recent review of Sushi Fix. Well let me tell you it was well worth the drive. The Screaming O roll is the BEST sushi roll in MN hands down! The blend of ingrediance with the smokey grilled flavor and the raw fish is an eye rolling experience! The agadashi tofu and hamachi kama are also a party in your mouth! You cannot go to Sushi Fix without trying a Japanese whiskey, Japanese craft beer or single malt scotch! For a light and refreshing cocktail I recommend Happy Endings...mmm. Billy the owner makes them with the utmost care and he is a charming host! Dan the bartender is also a great host! We will be back again without a doubt! Thank you Sushi Fix for a delightful experience!

  • Camille L.

I had a nice experience here, the sushi was excellent, the sake tasted great but it's on the more expensive side. I got the wayzata roll and my girlfriend got the mexican roll which were large and very filling! I also ordered a saki drink which was almost $20! I figured I would treat myself since it was Saturday night but that is kinda over priced for the suburbs of MN in my opinion. The saki menu didn't have any reasonably priced options compared to other sushi places in general. The place was pretty packed on Saturday night but I got a table right away by the bar area. This restaurant is a great addition to the downtown Wayzata dining scene but be ready to drop some $! You get free parking though!

Finally found a sushi restaurant in the twin cities that I like! Knocked a star off because the rice was only so-so, but the quality of the fish was top notch, the salmon, toro all melted in my mouth!!!!

Hands down the freshest sushi in Twin Cities area, by this I mean the nigiri pieces. 1. It's very hard for me to find uni in the Twin Cities. They are often not fresh, or restaurants are always out by evening. This place gives a generous amount of uni, and it is very fresh! Slightly sweet, and a mousse-like texture! It's my favorite nigiri. I think it was $8.95 per order. I had to place another order at the end of the meal! 2. I recently watched a Youtube video that talks about toro, the fatty parts of a tuna, so I had to give it a try. The appearance was similar to red meats, but it tasted very creamy and fatty. The sushi chef put some wasabi in it to offset the fattiness. To me, it was almost similar to the texture of sake (salmon). This was also $8.95 per order. 3. The grilled squid appetizer was one of my favorite part! It was grilled to perfection, at a perfect chewy/crunchy texture, and the sauce compliments it very well. 4. The George Clooney roll was highly recommended by the sushi chef, but for my personal taste, it is a bit on the sweet side. The contrast between mushiness and crunchiness and the jalapenos on top were great combinations! 5. We also had a few other nigiri: sake, sea bass, sweet shrimp, and ika. All were very fresh! 6. It was a little bit pricier than other sushi places in Twin Cities, but I am willing to pay more for the fresh fish and great service!

Great sushi. Loved the Jackie Chan roll. It does Kick Ass. Little on the pricey side though

  • Grace H.

Omakase was a pretty cool experience. Never put complete faith in a chef to put out whatever he wants before. Had a little trouble with the poached egg on the first course but it was yummy when I finally was able to grip it with my chopsticks. The fried jalapeno dish was pretty spicy even for me and I normally can handle a pretty high degree. The sashimi slices seemed fresh and melted in my mouth. Was less impressed with the rolls though. Was quite spendy at $50 and some of my friends weren't even full after the 5 courses. They ordered some shrimp tempura udon. I ordered a beef udon which was still yummy the next day. It was thoughtful how they packed the noodles and broth seperate...even giving me a small container of flakes (forget what they are called but it's made of some kind of seafood...perhaps shrimp?). Overall the ambiance was intimate and it was a great place to have a fun girl's night.

Thoroughly enjoyed the evening with owner Billy's saki suggestion providing the fuel to our fire. Great rolls, attentive service, killer Japanese beer that I have never seen before called Coedo on tap in dark and light flavors. Similar to a stout and a Belgian wheat. Salmon and pepper appetizers were delicious. Will be back many times.

Hmm..where to begin with this review. As much as it hurts me to say this, I feel I hyped up this placed a little too much, and it only deserves 3 stars. *GASP* I mean I really wanted to like this place because I enjoyed the food truck A LOT but in all honesty this place is mediocre in my books. As a self-proclaimed sushi snob, I will explained why this place needs a little more help. So brace yourself, this may come off a little harsh, and I do apologize. First rule of thumb, never ever ever let your bed of sushi rice fall a part as it is being picked up NEVER.... Not only does this show poor craftsmanship, this is the first rule of thumb for any sushi chef. Not only that, but the sockeye salmon was flaking apart on top. Ughhh. Second why is the rice still warm? It should be to a certain degree but not to a point where the fish's natural flavor is masked by the heat of the rice. NG, not good. I honestly couldn't tell you how disappointed I was with this place. Okay, maybe the other reviews like the atmosphere and overall friendliness of the staff, great...awesome...A+ but what about the food? I guess this is what you get, when it comes to sushi in Minnesota...overpriced piece of fish.

  • Amy J.

I would give it four stars but I dock a point for the ambience. Every time I come there is loud inappropriate pop music playing that just kills my mood. Usually I don't mind that stuff but it's just obnoxious at sushi fix. The sushi is pretty expensive but it is one of the better sushi places in Minneapolis.

This is THE best sushi in all of Minneapolis. Everything is fresh and delicious. I have loved Billy's sushi for years, and would go to any restaurant where he's the chef. Ku is amazing, as well!

I have to say, I'm quite sad to give this place only 3 stars. I've eaten here 3 times (take out) and have had very mixed experiences. The sushi is pretty good, they do a really nice job, have fresh fish and interesting combinations. Our first time getting take out was great, no issues, the food was pretty good. I would caution that a lot of their rolls are incredibly spicy and that takes away from the fish, I'd stick with Sashimi! The second time, they forgot 2 of our sushi items and took an hour and a half to get a take out order when we were told it would only take 45 minutes. I understand that you're very busy on a Saturday night but 1.5 hours?! I was pretty disappointed, called and spoke with the manager and just asked that they take the items we didn't receive off our bill. They went further and took off the whole bill which was extremely generous of them. I was told they appreciate our business and wanted a second chance, so we did just that. The following week I ordered again, they swore they double checked the order. We got home, got a phone call and were told the broth on our Beef Udon soup had been forgotten. It was just another disappointing experience as we couldn't eat the main dish we had ordered. I really wanted to love this place and have it be my new go to spot but they just can't quite get their take out side of the business together.

Hate to write a good review because the place is so busy . . . And happy Fresh flavorful custom made. And expanding .... Thank you! Try the Blue Fin for Four with Blue Hue saki. Yum! Or Waygu beef and red wine.

  • Leslie S.

The spicy seafood salad along with my specialty egg hand roll were the best thing ordered. They didn't receive 5 stars because the ika was very tough as well as the red snapper. They were also sold out of uni, Toro, blue fin tuna, and oysters. I LOVE that the pieces are big and there's wasabi on the fish. Worth reading again.

OK OK OK so I had my doubts on the hype. Sushi in Wayzata? Best in the Cities? The best service and sushi chefs? That started with a food truck? OK - I'm sold. Billy is welcoming and genuinely gets to know his guests, taking care of the omakase style as mentioned...there is a great sake list, great wine by the glass, beers by bottle only is the only downer. I would say that in the Twin Cities sushi scene, Masu and Fix are tied for first. Fix has super fresh sushi, generous size nigiri, the salmon is "buttah". The space is smaller and packed with regulars, but we were able to finagle 2 seats at the sushi bar nonetheless. And also - the sushi bar was planned as a centerpiece in the restaurant - high top chairs, roomy counter, able to look the chefs in the eye while talking to them. Vs other sushi bars where you are packed in, feel like you are sitting in a hole on chairs made for children. So Omishamaishai to the new and fantastic sushi restaurant! PS I went to the food truck last week - and it was just as good...albeit a bit pricey vs other food trucks...but the quality is great nonetheless. I hear they plan to expand their current location's space....

The food was excellent and so was the service. One of the big reasons I decided to try out this place was due to the very many reviews I read about this place both on yelp and other review sites. It was a pretty busy Friday night and we didn't have reservations, however there was only two of us and we were able to get seated right away. The waitress was prompt and provided some insight on recommendations. We started off with the seaweed salad and the octopus salad. We also tried the yellowtail cheek. All were delicious. For our sushi, we did the silly billy and the Jackie chan. The sushi tasted really fresh and the flavors were perfect. The only downside is that this place is definitely on the more pricier range for sushi. I don't believe they even have a happy hour here. Otherwise this place is definitely a great option for a good sushi date. Definitely one of the best sushi places in MN. Would definitely come back.

Date night is rare due to conflicting schedules so we try and make it special. I read about Sushi Fix and decided it was worth the long drive. It also opens at 4:30pm so that fit in nicely with our other evening plans. It is a very small restaurant located in a strip mall in Wayzata. Upon arrival we were greeted by the three sushi chefs: Billy (owner), Jackie and Boo Boo. All friendly with a warm greeting; we sat at Jackie's station at the sushi bar. I always like to order Omakase (chef's choice) as I have had some fantastic creations that you would never experience otherwise. Most Omakse is 3 plates of food and varies by the creativity and available time of the sushi chef. Normally you name a price range and that is what drives it. Jackie never asked for a price range and I never specified so this evening was quite expensive. My fault but they should ask. My husband ordered the 2-14 (Tuna, yellowtail, super white, salmon spiced up and shrimp tempura, tobiko, wrapped with soy paper, splash of home made sauce) roll and the Naughty Ninja (Tuna, yellowtail, snapper, cucumber, wrapped with 2 kinds of tobiko and sweet & spicy sauce) and was very happy with his selections. He also ordered two nigiris. My Omakase started with some sashimi wrapped around jalapeno pepper slices with varying sauces. The next plate was various nigiri including the sweetest scallop nigiri I have ever had. That was worth the drive alone. The last plate was just a specialty roll that was very good but not really a special creation. We also tried the Shisito Pepper appetizer (Japanese pepper sauteed and served with salt and bonito flakes). That was interesting as the bonito flakes dance on the plate. They were vary good but varied in spiciness from a little hot to VERY hot). You never know until you bite in. I really love spicy food so these were great until you hit the extra - extra hot one. The fish quality is excellent as it is flown in daily (they are closed on Sunday) and prices reflect that. The sushi chefs will create anything you ask them to. My only complaint is that Omakase should have been more creative. Especially since our bill was $168 with a glass of wine. We will definitely go back!

2 stars for hospitality, 4 for the food. The fish is fresh, the rolls are pretty good. It certainly beats most sushi in the midwest and you will be paying more, as a result. It was fairly busy on a Friday night, but not packed. What set the tone of the evening however, was the apathetic hostess and how rudely we were treated at the beginning of the evening. 2 of us walked in around 730 and there were two 4 person tables open. We were told to wait, as they clearly did not want to give us a larger table. Mind you, there were no other people waiting besides us and it was nearing the end of peak dinner hours in the suburbs. During our 20 min wait we also were somewhat rudely told to move and wait near the bar, as we had been reading over the menu displayed in the kitchen window. I realize we had wandered into a higher traffic area but a simple "could you please wait over on the other side" would have been more than sufficient. My cohort and I are not stupid...just hungry. Finally we were seated at a 2 person table, ordered and then proceeded to wait about 50 min for our sushi to arrive. Our poor server was very apologetic. The restaurant was fairly empty by that time (less than half the tables were occupied on our side of the restaurant). The food was good, yes, but the key to a successful business is not just the quality of the food. How you make the customer feel plays a large role in whether they become a repeat customer. The overall experience left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth as I've been treated much more hospitably at supposed "lesser" establishments.

My first visit. Already looking forward to the next. My Two Cents: 1. Great owner with food truck start. (Knowing and not taking for granted new or repeating customers.) 2. Small friendly venue with very friendly owner and staff that focuses on keeping their core local customer based happy. (We were sitting near the front door and in comes the local crowd even after 7pm.) 3. Good sushi quality with good selection of both sushi rolls and saki. 4. A place you can have a quiet uninterrupted conversation with a responsive staff. ** 10 out if 10 **

  • Aaron G.

I am not sure what all the hype is about... I saw "Best Sushi Minneapolis 2013" in the City Pages with references to Jiro Dreams of Sushi even... Great reviews on yelp also so I had high hopes. The sushi was good but not amazing and very overpriced. The majority of specialty rolls are well over $15 and some over $20... At that price I expect perfection and sadly it almost invites a harsher review. The best part of Sushi fix is Billy. He is very friendly and always creative. I would probably give this place another star if it wasn't in a strip mall with horrible parking.

I have heard about Sushi Fix for a while now with some people calling it the best sushi restaurant in town. I have eaten at some truly amazing sushi restaurants all over the world so I never have the bar set too high because we do live in Minnesota. That being said in my opinion there are 2 types of sushi. There are the "Jiro" sushi restaurants where there are 12 seats, the fish was caught 10 minutes ago, reservations take 3 months and you are going to need to take out a second mortgage. Then there are the "American" sushi restaurants. I love both. I love sushi rolls with shrimp tempura, spicy mayo and avocado and other fun americanized ingredients. Before eating at Sushi Fix as far as I was concerned Masu in Northeast was the spot to go for sushi in Minnesota. After trying out Sushi Fix I'm very conflicted. I went into this meal very skeptical. Wayzata Minnesota with great sushi? I stand corrected. The service was great. The sashimi was no question better than Masu's. Thick, luscious, perfect temperature and cut perfectly for tenderness. It tasted extremely fresh. However, Sushi Fix is more expensive and their menu outside of sushi does not compare to Masu's. At the end of the day if you are strictly craving sushi I think you have to go to Sushi Fix. If you are craving ramen, robata, steamed buns and other Japanese deliciousness you should go to Masu. 612food.com

Wow, what a surprise to find a fun, hopping sushi bar with attentive staff in downtown Wayzata. These guys have it all over the other sushi place down the street. Sushi Fix is in the strip mall on the eastern edge of the main drag, Lake Street. The owner appears to be one of the sushi chefs, and he has a great, fun-loving demeanor. Prices are reasonable and, more importantly for a sushi restaurant, the fish was very fresh and delicately prepared. The people next to us ordered the sashimi bowl, which looked like a piece of art when served. I would like to see them offer a wider selection of beers (Summit Saga would be nice!), and a few higher-end wines. We'll be back!

Amazing!! One of the best sushi bars in the country. Try the Triple P sauce. Yum! Sorry Sakana, we will not be back.

  • B H.

The good news for Sushi Fix is its local competition, consisting of Sakana, is typical, bland suburban sushi (2*). For this new spot, "A-OK" is an apt description, though this place can probably reach a 4* rating. Sushi Fix is also notable as the new bricks & mortar location of one of the popular downtown food trucks (which proved a sushi food truck can work); that sushi truck is probably why they open at 4:30 and miss the lucrative lunch hour. For the record, 3* from me is not a "I hate it", I just don't make the wild swings from 1 or 5 that some folks like to do. If you're only looking in the Western Suburbs this is a more than adequate place to get your "sushi fix". As I hinted earlier, there's a lot of mediocre and even bad sushi in the Twin Cities getting great reviews from people who mean well. I think part of it comes from a penchant for rolls that are so overwhelmed by prepackaged sauces that much of it tastes the same. I'm more of a purist, so if you don't like getting nigiri (plain fish on rice) this review may not appeal to your tastes. For my own visit I dove into the nigiri (which requires an understanding of fish flavor, rice, and technique) with a foray into a specialty roll. First of all, the service is good. The head sushi chef was very attentive and talkative to his side of the bar while his assistant, when he showed up, was more subdued. I asked about their training (e.g. where they apprenticed) but the answers, frankly, dodged the question. Oh well, what matters is their skill-set now. I ended up mainly conversing with the server, who was very friendly and knew a fair amount of the menu. The drink selection is adequate. I had a decent daiginjo sake which they serve in the over-pour style into a saucer (which is more bells and whistles than any serious tradition, despite what the server said). Let's talk sushi. The nigiri had one of the strangest issues I've run into: the rice! Sushi rice is considered an art to itself. Some of the most famous sushi restaurants have their own particular method of making it (and even blends of rice). At Sushi Fix the rice is the saltiest rice I've had on sushi. So salty that the rice actually overwhelmed the taste of the more subtly flavored fish. The flavor was so strong that I first began checking the bottom of the nigiri to make sure it hadn't come in contact with the sauce of whatever the chef had been making before. Nope, it's just the rice itself. Even the little dab of wasabi didn't register. This is a shame because the fish was, mostly, fairly good. The fish isn't served cold, which is a good sign. The menu is fairly broad, and they had nearly everything on seasonal but toro. It took a fish as strong as saba (mackerel, which was on the oilier side) to actually balance with the salty power of the rice. Their tamago (omelet) was fine. The uni (sea urchin) they had in was good quality (creamy, rich). There were a handful of miscues: The tako (octopus) was too thin, tasteless and overall very weak. The hotate (scallop) looked good but they had the odd idea of spritzing it with what appeared to be a soy vinegar instead of traditional citrus--it ended up crushing the rice it was on and coming apart. Lobster Roll: the crunchy tempura has a nice, finer texture. The roll itself is a uses cooked lobster, avocado and other stuff that all completely gets lost in the strong sauce. This is a fairly typical "specialty roll": it's a variation of generic spicy, sweet or whatever sauce that's put on with it--with just the slightest hint of the actual ingredients. The salty rice problem? Not an issue here. In fact that probably helps you actually taste the rice. This could include pieces of a boot and it would taste similar. With that said, comparing apples to apples, this is still on the better end of specialty rolls, only because the flavors aren't all turned to mush. I wouldn't say this was worth the $20+ on its own. Despite what the other review who claims ("claims") to have been visiting from Japan (a place I've visited many times) seemed to think, this place--like most American sushi places--pales in comparison to what you can get (for sometimes quire reasonable prices) in Japan. I'd be curious to see how good the nigiri is if they adjust that rice. As of right now it's probably the best sushi option in it's area of the Western Suburbs. For sushi in the Twin Cities, if I'm going to drop $50-$100 per person I'd rather go with Masu in Nordeast. If I can go anywhere in the US, I'd go to Masa in NYC or even BarMasa in Vegas.

Yummy fresh sushi. Veggie roll is awesome for pregnant women! Little bits of crunch in the middle - so good. Only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is due to price and dining room is very small - gets super noisy when busy. Otherwise highly recommend!

In Minneapolis, this is about as solid as you can get. Fresh and creative, and while a little pricey, it's not outrageous. The fact that something like this is available in the western burbs, even better.

Very poor service. No staff to buss tables and the service staff is clearing tables then serving food and not washing their hands.

I am not a sushi expert but I have enjoyed eating sushi in various places around the twin cities. I was excited to hear about Sushi Fix opening in the western suburbs and had heard about the success of the Sushi Fix truck for lunch downtown. I was not disappointed. I can honestly say that Sushi Fix has the best sushi I have ever had. The flavors of the rolls are balanced and outstanding. In addition to the taste the presentation was outstanding and a work of art. Both sushi chefs, Billy and Kou, are friendly as well as the serving staff. They have only been open a few weeks and are still fine tuning their operation. I know that the quality of the food and service I had at Sushi Fix will bring me back time and again!

We went to Sushi Fix last night for dinner. In one word...GREAT. The food was fresh and creative. The service was quick and responsive. You can't ask for more than that.

Best sushi I've had in the Twin Cities. Billy, the owner and head sushi chef, is terrific, and he's built a very fun place.

Not worth the time or money. Poor and rude service with decent sushi grade fish but ridiculously overpriced. Read on for in depth review.. We decided to try out this restaurant last night based on a few reviews and we were beyond disappointed. Having a culinary degree and having lived on both coasts as well as traveling extensively- we are avid sushi eaters and we know our sushi. First and foremost our server was horribly rude and was no help whatsoever when asked about items on the menu. We had our two children with us (ages 7 and 5) and we were asked if the children needed a menu- when I asked if there was a children's menu the rude server scoffed at the question. Meanwhile, in the distance right behind our table was a stack of children's booster seats and high chairs clearly indicating children were welcome. When we were asked for our drink order, I politely asked what drink options there were for the kids and I was told none other than water...really?? The menu lacked variety and we opted for yakitori chicken and chicken tempura for the kids...we were brought 2 pieces of yakitori skewers where the chicken was less than 2 inches long for $5 and the chicken tempura dinner (at $10) consisted of 3 pieces of 1.5 inches of chicken smothered in batter accompanied with fried parsley and maybe half an onion ring. This is hardly a dinner size portion. When my husband and I placed our order we asked the server questions regarding the "chef's choice" with respect to what kinds of fish are available and the canned response to all our basic questions were "I don't know". My husband ordered a sashimi platter and I ordered a rainbow roll. We told the server neither of us could have eel and was told it was "chef's choice"... we told her again we could not eat eel and did not want it and she merely shrugged her shoulders and walked away. The sashimi platter was about half the size of an appetizer for $22 and my roll was decent but did not boast a $15 price tag...should have been more like $10. We were never asked for additional drinks, water was never refilled, plates were being cleared while kids were still eating, and the only time the server came back was to give us the check. Even though the sushi was decent in grade and freshness- we will never return there. The service and inflated prices are obnoxious. Save your $100 and go elsewhere.
