Another fine example of how breakfast should be served. Thick cut ham, crispy bacon and hearty pancakes. Small place located downtown be prepared to wait 10 minutes on a Sunday morning but worth the wait. It's like my mom decorated the place. It's also like my mom cooked the meal so it was good. $20 for 2 meals and coffee. Can't go wrong.

2nd time here for breakfast. I had the Cajun breakfast special and my husband had the Eggs Benedict. This is a little hole in the wall, the food was great and service was quick. However, if I had something to say, it would be that the waitresses could be a lot friendlier. We ask for a booster chair for my 2 year old and did get one but the waitress never acknowledged the question. When we ask for creamer and a refill later, again, the waitress did not acknowledge the question but we did get what we ask for. It was like she didn't enjoy her job which would make it awkward for the guests. For me, great service and food and a welcoming, friendly atmosphere brings me back. I wouldn't come back unless I wasn't in a good mood and didn't want people to talk to me.

I found Wampach's to be a charming small town diner. The breakfast menu provides a nice selection with some variety. The food was great and the wait time was not bad at all considering how busy they were during our visit. Our server was very attentive and kept refilling our coffee as needed. For some reason I really enjoy the coffee here and I find myself drinking quite a few cups! The portion sizes are quite generous (I couldn't finish it all). I quite enjoyed the laid back & friendly atmosphere with my boyfriend. Overall, I found the food and service great during our visit. I would definitely return in the future! :)

Wampach's is a gem in Shakopee, MN. This is a rare hole in the wall that offers no frills with great food. A greasy spoon well worth the wait. Highly recommend the eggs benedict special. Breakfast is amazing! Seating for the whole restaurant is only about 40 so probably difficult for larger groups.

WOW! our meals were quite generous & hot to the table. Staff was very attentive & fun to talk to. The meal was delicious. Just the way we got down home on the farm & we thought the price was more then reasonable for the size of the meal. If you find yourself in the area give it a try. You won't be sorry, well we weren't! Enjoy!

Nothing other then awesome can be said. Even the occasional grumpy waitress makes it feel just like home when mom was annoyed you asked for ketchup for your steak!!!!!!

Small town gem. No its not going to be featured on a television special. No its not going to stand out in your memories as one of the best restaurants you have been to. But you are going to get a lot of food for a reasonable price with decent service. Wampachs is my favorite hangover food restaurant. And its family owned which is part of the charm.

I think Im still full from breakfast on Saturday! You might have to wait, as it is a small walk-in diner, but I will never again go to Perkins in town, since this place is much better, friendlier, and cleaner...I had the eggs benedict and a side pancake(plate size!) and was stuffed as a 250lbs dude...food was fresh and custom made to order...the ambiance is great too...heart of shakopee...old town...

Great place! Classic Diner style place with great home style cooking. Best breakfast in the area and their bacon is unrivaled! The staff and friendly and you can't beat the price especially for what you get. The best part is their advertising... Simply "Stop In"!

Amazing breakfast food in a cozy setting. Make sure to try the American Fries, they are like hashbrowns but much better. Everything is made from scratch and always hits the spot for a weekend breakfast out. Prices are also very reasonable and the portions are generous.

Nothing new here, typical greasy spoon, diner food. I was left full with food still on my plate for a good price. If I lived close I would prefer it to a Perkins.

OK, this was my 2nd time there yesterday. Ever since my family moved to Chanhassen and my mother in law moved to Chaska, my wife & mother in law have loved going here when they go out during the weekends for lunch/breakfast and then shopping. She keeps wanted me to try it, so a couple weeks ago we went there. I got their Cajun Breakfast special and my wife got the beef commercial. She loved hers and when I tried it, I wasn't impressed, not much flavor and the beef was kinda chewy and fatty. My cajun breakfast was horrid. The hollandaise didn't taste anything like hollandaise sauce, and it had no spice at all. How could it be considered cajun with just a sprinkle of cayenne pepper (and not nearly enough). Since it doesn't have any meat and not much spice, I would think that adding some andouille would make a huge difference. Since Von Hansen's in in the area and has good andouille, maybe they should order some for this recipe. So, since my wife likes the place and she says I should give it another try, we went there yesterday. Service was pretty quick and they were friendly. My wife had a patty melt and I had grilled walleye. Now, I love walleye alot of different ways, but I didn't like this at all. She liked her patty melt, but I didn't try it because I was starting to not feel well. The walleye was very fishy. Normally walleye has a fresh light white fish type taste, but this was horrid. The spice was good, but the meat was really bad. The veggies were OK and the "american fries" were more like chunky southern style hash browns but didn't have much flavor. I started feeling bad, and when we were leaving and going to the car, I got sick and threw up in the parking lot 3 times. We drove home to Chanhassen (luckily we live in the southern part and it wasn't too far), I got home, ran to the apartment and got sick again. I then spent most of the rest of the day and part of the next morning with diarrhea and vomiting. I'm assuming the fish was bad! My wife thinks the place is good, and she doesn't like seafood, so she'll probably go back with her mom again, but I highly doubt I will ever go back and I won't bring my kids there either. I would have given them one star, but my wife likes it usually, so I bumped it to 2. Also, we had an order of onion rings for an appetizer since I've read good things about them. The order was HUGE, so that's a bonus. The spice was good, but the batter was alot thicker and chewier than I was expecting. I read an earlier review that mentioned the batter was alot like a tempura batter. Either they've never had good tempura, or the restaurant changed the recipe or over cooked these. Oh, and make sure you bring cash or a checkbook since they don't take credit cards. I can't believe a place in this day and age doesn't take credit/debit cards. Drop the checks and get with the times. I had to run next door to the bar and use the ATM and pay a fee from my bank and the ATM company to pay for lunch since I rarely carry cash.

Great Sunday specials, Turkey or Roast Beef diner $7.50. Real mashed potatoes. Really large order of home made Onion Rings $7.50. Give it a try,

So I have to preface this review by saying that I'm a snooty Californian with extremely discerning taste... so if you're a local yokel, feel free to dimiss my review entirely. In the time of McDonald's and ever-growing fast food chain restaurants, I'm glad that there are places like Wampach's still serving food from the good ole days. I've been here a few times already and it's the first place I go to when I visit the in-laws out here in Shakopee for the Holidays. This is first restaurant I go to train/adjust my taste buds for Minnesotan fair (as opposed to the organic frisee salad with pomegranite seeds I get in San Francisco)... The food overall is pretty bad but what you would normally expect of Minnesotan fare. You might see a "Meatloaf Commercial" on a good day...that is, a slice of meatloaf over a mound of mashed potatoes and gravy sitting on an open faced sandwich bread. It came with a side of orange jello and some canned-corn on the side. Everything was out of a can or a mix, including the mashed potatoes, but if your taste buds are used to that, I guess it can be good. The dinner roll came with pat of what I thought was butter, but was actually margarine/butter substitute. However, anything fried is pretty delicious. They have a huge mound of onion rings in batter for a pricy $5.95. The ambiance is old school Minnesota. Shakopee is a working class town with a woman's prison and one of the largest malt factories in the US. There are probably people who've been to Wampach's for years and years. They sit on the counter (right of the restaurant as you walk in) and know the waitresses by name. They're also the ones who order the bolder items on the menu (e.g., chicken livers) that I wouldn't trust to order from this place. As much as I give 2-stars, I would be remiss if I didn't say that Shakopee wouldn't be the same if Wampach's was gone some day. It looks like an old-fashioned diner...no, it IS an old fashioned diner and it embraces its "bad" food without any apologies and self-consciousness. The people are genuinely friendly and the blue laminate counters are as real as the people who eat on top of them.

This is your classic greasy spoon. A buddy of mine and I have been meeting for breakfast periodically on Fridays at this place for a couple of years now and absolutely love it. You can't beat their coffee and breakfast! A little disclaimer is that I have never eaten anything here except for breakfast. The only negative I can see about this place is that as of the last time I was there they still weren't accepting credit/debit cards. Be ready with cash or check and enjoy your morning!

My family ate at Wampach's just the other day. I think they can do a little better. The onion rings have hardly any flavor and I didn't like the batter. I have had such better onion rings at the super market. I had a cheeseburger which had no flavor as well. I also thought the whole diner was tacky. I think they need Chef Gordon Ramsay to improve everything.

Best darn onion rings in Minnesota. Super friendly people. Always full of customers- for good reason. Highly recommended.

I love it. I have been going there for 12 years and I have had great meals. The food is good and the prices are good for the type of restaurant. I think it is a great restaurant.

How fun! My boyfriend and I were looking for a good ol' hearty breakfast on a Saturday morning when we Googled the Shakopee area and came across Wampach's. We decided to check it out and we weren't disappointed. I ordered a standard eggs, bacon, hashbrown/potato meal and omg, YUM. They got my overhard eggs and the bacon cooked PERFECTLY! I was really happy with my meal. My boyfriend got some type of club-esque sandwich (I don't remember the name of it) and he really liked it as well. You definitely need to be aware that you're going to a small-town cafe or Mom and Pop type of restaurant. It's nothing fancy and that's why we liked it so much! Lots of regulars and everyone seems to know everyone. You can tell some of the patrons have been going there for years. Again, this was another reason we liked it. I read some of the bad reviews before we went and honestly, yes, you're going to be disappointed if you're a self-proclaimed food snob. This is MN comfort food and it's awesome! If you're looking for anything fancy, this isn't your place. I love breakfast for all meals of the day and I will definitely be eating there again.

Best breakfast around. Period. The American fries are a great alternative to boring hash browns. For lunch and dinner, the liver and onions are a great choice for this country boy. The senior menu is a hoot if you think about - no teeth required for most items. We go for breakfast at least twice a week. Definitely worth a drive.

This place has the best breakfast! The servers were also nice and polite and I received my food quickly. I would suggest getting a sausage, bacon, omelette if your the omelette type of person. My place of work is in shakopee so I pass this place on the way home every day at 8am, I know where I will be eating at instead of Perkins :)

Once a year we travel to Minneapolis for the Back To The 50's car show. Wampach's is our chosen breakfast spot. A true Mom&Pop that's fills up with the locals daily. The service is good and friendly as well. Its the perfect place to get a large, hearty breakfast or brunch. Have an omlet made the way you like it! And they keep the coffee cup full!!!!!

I give a 2 ONLY because the menu still reads "beef commercial". If you dont know what it is then you should look it up. Just a bit of history. The service sucked... Just as posted before, my waiter seemed bothered by us being their, just did everything to make us feel unwelcome. Food was Ok, atmosphere is mom and pops but the service says that mom and pop quit long ago and left the place to the kids.

Small town diner in the heart of downtown Shakopee. Delicious home style meals with a different special every night and I love their steak or pot roast. All of their soups and pies are home made every day. I love the fact that this place has jello salad with just about every entree. Expect friendly, but not over the top, service. This place does not take credit cards to ensure that you bring either cash or your checkbook.

Very kind servers, the food was above average and fairly priced. I LOVE the breakfast menu and the coffee is better than Starbucks! I always enjoy bring my Grandma here.

I had the Chef's Morning Special. Two eggs, three strips of bacon, two pancakes, and American fries. Pretty average food. Cakes tasted like they were a box mix. Coffee was not good. Eggs and bacon were good.
