Not overly impressed. The menu is varied, which is nice when you do have a larger party with different tastes. Our meal started off on a rough note when the restaurant ran out of popovers and served dinner rolls instead. It was only about 6:45 when this happened (and the restaurant is open until 10), so this was extremely disappointing because many of the other tables around us had them. The other disappointing part of our experience was that we ordered appetizers, but they never showed up. Our server seemed surprised when we reminded him of the appetizers. The food overall was nothing exciting, but it did take a while for us to get it. I ordered a pesto and Italian sausage pasta dish and it was only OK. It was lukewarm, but sausage's flavor was pretty good. We did order dessert and I had carrot cake, but it was nothing spectacular. A basic carrot cake, similar to one that you would purchase at a grocery store. The highlight of our entire experience was the honey butter--which is absolutely lovely. Overall, the service is slow and the menu is overpriced.

First, our waitress was very rude. I asked what kind of ciders they have (since they only have a wine list, no beers listed) and she asked if I meant apple juice. Clearly she doesn't even know what cider is, even though they do serve it. I ordered fish and chips and I got something that looked like fish sticks from a box. The only good part was the French fries. I would never go back.

AWFUL, BAD, HORRIBLE, DIRTY, RUDE. The list goes on. I would have given negative stars had that been an option. We walked in and another party was in front of us for lunch. There was NO ONE at the hostess stand and the sign said please wait to be seated. Plenty of times someone walked by, no one was ever acknowledged, and not one person came to help seat anyone for over ten minutes. That should have been our clue to turn around and walk out but there are little other choices in Shakopee. The party in front of us was seated outside and it took another five to ten minutes to come back and seat us inside. The waiter was awful, he was not friendly, the food was not hot when it came to the table and it was not good at all. The decor is awful, and I don't want to know the last time they cleaned that nasty carpet or dusted. Shakopee and Wright County must not have a health department because this place would be shut down. We will never be back and suggest that no one else goes there either.

Jumped on a recent Groupon deal, as the description of the food and restaurant seemed pretty good. In hindsight I should have passed, as I don't think it was even worth the discount. The food is way overpriced, which is due to the fact that it was very uninspired and flavorless. The decor of this place, I imagine was considered modern like 40 years ago, or whenever they last updated it. While our server was at least nice, she wasn't very attentive. Would not recommend and would not return.

The best thing about Dangerfields is the waiter Joseph Smith. He is top notch all the way and should train ALL of the other staff to meet his standards. If we would have gotten the waitress at the table next to us I am pretty sure we would have left as she was very tacky and unprofessional. Our prime rib was really good and every thing else was pretty average for the high prices. Even so, Joe was so attentive and pleasant that he totally made our evening most enjoyable. If I ever go back and Joe is not serving that night, I will not dine there. He is the only thing worth going back for. Your restaurant should redecorate the fabric and take lessons in customer service from Joe.

DO NOT EAT HERE! The food is terribly gross . The popovers were dried out like rocks. the fish is inedible and tastes fishy and overlooked . The prime rib was tough , dry and tasteless and could not be cut with a steak knife. The shrimp was dried out and burnt and tasted old. When we asked the nice waitress to speak with the manager owner Gus, she said he was too busy! As we were leaving, we asked the hostess to speak with the manager at which point she said he was too busy. My husband told the hostess it was unprofessional and cowardly to avoid speaking with us. As we walked to our car in the parking lot, the owner and 2 of his kitchen staff /we assume /followed us using profanity and words like the f---and c--- and other course words. We now assume he was hiding in the room behind the front desk and heard our complaints. I agree with the many reviewers that he is horrible and the one reviewer who says he is insane and psychotic! We finally threatened to call the police as we continued to our car because he continued to harass and verbally abuse us! Most importantly. You are entering a very hostile environment if you complain about your food which deserves complaints! We have never ever experienced anything like this in our lives and after reading the other reviews , it is no wonder the parking lot was empty! If you are stupid enough to ignore all the negative reviews regarding the irrational and angry manager owner and go to this hell hole, do not complain or you will be threatened! How sad for some of the nice wait staff who work there- One can only imagine how they must feel working in such a hostile environment!

A no-frills place with good local favorites. I went here with some folks from work and had a very good pan-fried walleye. My server, Jessica, was extremely helpful. This is the place to go if you're looking for a non-chain restaurant in Shakopee.

I don't know what a popover is, and I still don't because they were out. I had the stuffed walleye, and while I was hesitant b/c it was frozen in a previous life, it actually wasn't bad. Service was very kind and attentive. No complaints!

Yeah - I had a Groom's Dinner here over the summer and I really wish I had gone some where else. First of all they got the number of people wrong and then gave me a hard time about rearranging tables and such to accommodate our smaller group. We (the wedding party) had to start rearranging our own setup and then the staff finally started to help. Overall, it was just a really disappointing experience. I would never recommend someone go here for any sort of group accommodation.

This place is stuck in the 80's. That's the most appropriate thing I can say. The decor is dated and run down, and the interior is somewhat dark. The drink menu is very limited, and they have no excuse for this. The wine list should be extensive, with premium selections available. This place is supposed to be somewhat upscale, so you would expect a quality wine list. Nope. Cheap economy grade wines, and they were all very much overpriced. I had a fish dish, and it was soggy. The fish did not taste fresh, and there was a funny taste to the crust they cooked onto it. It wasn't a normal flavor that you'd expect with fish, which is not a good thing. A friend's steak was flavorless and tough. My wife's pasta was flavorless and the pasta was over-cooked and mushy. "Al Dente" does not seem to be a concept they understand. The food was greasy and lacked overall quality. I've definitely had worse, but not by a wide margin. The food here was the worst tasting food I've had from a supposed "fine dining" establishment. I have been to some hole-in-the-wall places in small towns that were terrible and cooked everything from frozen, and they were the only places that I rate worse. I would have sent my food back if I thought it would come back better, but I knew it wouldn't. We were in a party of 10, and everyone disliked their entrees. Everyone. They were obviously using sauces out of containers; and if they weren't, the sauces were really old because they tasted very processed. They didn't even season anything properly. Seriously-how hard is it to use salt??? What a joke. If you really do know what good food is and tastes like, you need to avoid this place and go somewhere else. I had to give them the worst rating because they are trying to be upscale and are definitely not. The food was over-priced and things like giving me butter in blister packs and such is just tacky. I honestly felt like I was at a wedding reception at a VFW. I think many will say that is a description. Everyone in my party did. The saving grace was the Minnehaha Comey Club downstairs, which is why we were there in the first place. Next time we'll eat burgers at Turtle's up the street and then go to the club. Don't go here. Also, don't be surprised if this place appears in a future episode of Kitchen Nightmares. It needs it badly.

I love this place! Their popovers are to die for and a definite staple. My 2 year old was pretty antsy when we went there, walking around, socializing with other patrons and we didn't get any dirty looks - unusual for a somewhat upper class restaurant.

Excellent restaurant in "downtown" Shakopee. I had driven by this place probably over 100 times and finally decided to dine here this weekend. What a great chioce! The food was absolutely excellent. I had the prime rib (which, oddly enough, is only available in one size, but it is on the menu every night) with wild rice soup. The meal also included an oversized popover with honey butter. It was fantastic. Calorie-wise, this was a splurge, but it was definitely worth it. My steak was perfectly cooked to my preference and the waitstaff were not only friendly but excellent in refilling drinks and making sure we had everything that we needed. Price is also very excellent. For a dessert, beer, soup, popover, and medium-to-large sized steak, I paid about 28 dollars. For the quality of the meal and service, this place was excellent. I will definitely be returning.

Bad service and the like can be overcome by great food, but the opposite is not true. It doesn't matter how nice the restaurant, or friendly the service, if you food is awful, the restaurant is awful. The food at Dangerfield's is awful. The Fish, of the Fish & Chips apparently was left in the frier overnight. The viscosity of their salad dressings & tarter sauce must be designed for old people to easily consume through a tube or straw. I could go on but it is lunch time and I am losing my appetite.

I was told that this place was where people go in Shakopee. Now I feel bad for the people of Shakopee. The food was mediocre at best. Ok, that was being very generous. The funny thing is that when you enter this place, there is a sign saying how reknowned the chef was. Really? I guess they haven't eaten his food. I got a pastrami sandwich, where the bread was super soggy. Not good. I didn't care for the walleye fingers either. Even the soda had a bad aftertaste.

I took my visiting parents there for lunch the other day and we had a very nice time. The food was good and the service was great. My father and I had the French Dip sandwich and my mother had the Chicken Pesto Sandwich. They were all tasty. The coleslaw was also yummy. We sat by the window and had a beautiful view of swans and ducks frolicking in the spring fed water. My elderly father has dementia and watching the wildlife really entertained him while we were enjoying our meal. We plan on returning tomorrow for another lunch date before my parents leave.

It was our anniversary. Drove 45 mins to get to Dangerfield's expecting a nice but casual dinner. We had been there once before and our experience was pretty good. . That I could remember. Until we got there. .we should have figured it out right away when we saw a couple get up and leave without ordering.. It all came back. . Terrible service. . We must have waited at least 45 mins for our food(the place was practically empty), remembering our last experience we had to wait a long time for our food also. We watched the waitress run from section to section apologizing everytime she got back to each table. My husband ordered shrimp scampi only to find it over cooked and rubbery. My pork chops were over cooked, burnt and dry. The "fresh" vegetable was asparagus which were large woody stalks, charred, cold and tasteless. Our disappointment must have been obvious when another waitress came up to our table and said. . "Come back, I'm here all the time, your experience will be different. " I thought it was nice at first but then I wasn't sure. . She was dissing her co-worker. I really did feel sorry for our waitress having to run all over the restaurant to different tables rather than have one section. Surely not worth the drive or the price of gas! Very.disappointing!

This place got 2 strikes in less than a week. We were drawn in on the one warm spring day we had here by a giant sign outside that said 'OUTDOOR PATIO NOW OPEN'. I had been there years ago with friends and remembered the food being pretty good. We walked in, waited in the alcove (straight out of 1992, mind you) for about 5 minutes only to be told that the patio was not open for the season yet, despite the 10 foot sign outside. We left to find a patio that is actually open. Again, last night we were in the neighborhood and thought, 'Hey let's give this a try for happy hour' - the parking lot was packed - good sign, right? WRONG! We went into the bar and sat down to find ourselves literally in a nursing home. Everyone in there had to have been over 70. After a good 15 minutes, the waitress finally came over to tell us that drinks were 25% off and the food was all free (really a bizarre promotion). No wonder it was jam packed - every senior citizen in town was loading their plates with greasy wings and communal nachos. AGAIN we left. All in all, highly recommended for disappointment or contracting multiple flus or viruses.

The only thing I have gotten here is the Sunday brunch buffet and it very good. A ton of variety. They also serve a very tall mug of beer. I have looked at there menu and though it is about $20 a plate I would recommend the food based on the buffet.

A very nice place, with live piano playing in the background. I had the prime rib, wild rice soup, and coconut shimp for an appetizer. It was one of the best coconut shimps I have ever had. It was a good wild rice soup. It was a pretty good prime rib...one of the better ones I've had. It was a nice night out for dinner. It is a bit more spendy than I am used to...but I plan on going back.

It's aiiight. Has it's pro's and cons. Worth the occasional stop since I live nearby but would not reccommend someone drive from, say, Eden Prairie because you have better choices there. I do think they are struggling a bit business-wise. I've had great service and dirty water glasses (which really really bugs me). Typically pretty decent food at a reasonable price. Can't attest to the happy hour or the brunch but they sound good.

I've lived in Shakopee for some time. I've probably been to Dangerfield's at least 5 times. And every time, I have had a mediocre to horrible experience, and every time I think "it must be an aberration, I'll try again some time". Well, no more. DO NOT COME HERE. The service is by far the most uneven, uncaring place to eat at these prices I've ever seen. The food is very mediocre for a very overpriced menu. The location and restaurant itself is great, which only confounds the horror which is dining here. EAT ELSEWHERE.

The moment I walked in I wasn't greeted by anyone. The bartender saw me, but didn't acknowledge me at all. There was a man behind the cashier. I immediately knew he was the owner. Not sure what gave it away but I just did not want him to serve me or help me or anything. I hate these types that sit around collecting the money while the rest of the wait staff is hard at work. They are there because they don't trust anyone else with the money. My waitress was nice. I ordered the prime rib, which said it included soup or salad. I ordered the french onion soup. it was ok, nothing to write home about. The prime rib was nice, but a little on the cold side. I had no issues with dinner until the bill came. I noticed they had charged me for my french onion soup. The minute i placed my credit card into the bill fold the owner guy rushed to take my payment. That was pretty tacky and obvious. He should just let the waitress that was serving me take it from me. I can't explain it. But that is just wrong. I asked him about the soup and why it was charged when the menu said it was included in the prime rib dinner. He didn't even bother to stop. He couldn't wait to cash in my bill. All he said was it was an upgrade and rushed away to enter my card. No sense in arguing with him over 2 bucks so i just left after that. On my way out, there is a tacky sign with his face on it.

he Mrs. and I were in Shakopee on an errand, and needed food. She suggested Dangerfield's, as several of her former co-workers had used it to entertain clients. She is pretty good about food, and I am usually up for an adventure. I chose three stars, because it deserves three and a half, but in no way is deserving of four. The music was too loud for a mostly empty restaurant. Wife's french onion soup was very good, my steak and potato soup wasn't, but I am generally not a soup eater, so I attributed it to me. The popovers that came with the soup were not bad, but not good. They ran out of popovers while we were waiting for our food, so we figure maybe we had the tail end of a previous batch. Fresh would have been much better. My coconut shrimp was disappointing enough that I sent it back to be redone. The refire batch was just as problematic as the first plate, Never in my life had I had such tough and chewy shrimp. Either the cook has no clue how to cook coconut shrimp, or this restaurant got a batch of super chewy and tough shrimp. About this time, I was very disappointed, and dreading my actual entree. I will now point out that the window overlooking the pond is a great place to be seated, and the view is quite nice. We overheard a waitress telling some stories about the building, involving a tunnel and some other interesting history. Interesting, and the ducks in the pond were fun to watch. Arriving at the table next were my pork chops in Jack Daniels sauce and my wife's steak. Her steak was cooked to a proper rare, and my pork chops were quite delicious. Both our entrees were delicious, and though the entrees saved the meal, I still have to be honest about the disappointment at the beginning. Will I go again? Maybe, but I think it will have to be at supper time, when they are more likely to have plenty of fresh everything. I also do not have a problem with the decor. I hate abstract art and trendy crap. This place was just fine for me.

Like others, I found myself at Dangerfields after purchasing a groupon discount. If you want a short review, I'll give it to you here...not even worth it with the discount. The place reminds me of a huge version of my grandparents house. Old stinky decor, shabby tables and chairs, and drab color scheme. We were seated at a table overlooking the pond in the back, and in retrospect, the location and view was the highlight of the night. At least we had some entertainment during our long periods of inattention. There was an adorable family of raccoons in the trees out back that helped us pass the time. We ordered the sirloin bites appetizer, and immediately stumbled upon a theme was would continue through all the courses: there was absolutely no seasoning in the dish whatsoever. Even the horseradish sauce was lacking spice...it tasted more like tsatziki. I had the french onion soup, and it really wasn't bad, except the fried onions on top of the soup were again completely bland, not even salt or pepper. My wife had an uneventful salad. For an entree, I ordered pan fried walleye. The filet was sizable, but cooked unevenly; firm and flaky at one end, hard and dry at the other. It was lightly breaded on seemingly just flour (no salt, pepper, nothing). The filet was served with soggy asparagus and an overdone loaded baked potato that was missing of all things, sour cream. My wife ordered Filet Tournedos. They arrived on the high side of medium even though she ordered medium rare. The reorder came out at the proper temperature, but again, just had the taste of meat and char. No seasoning whatsoever. My wife generally cooks with very little salt, and I understand that salt is a very subjective taste, but bland is bland. This was not $20+/ entree cuisine. I've had better at, well almost everywhere. On the plus side, our server was very pleasant, if a bit flustered at the obvious poor performance of the kitchen. We rewarded her for her sweet demeanor even though she was spending most of her time tending to a large table seated after we came in. The decks seemed like a nice place for a drink, and there is a mosquito screen that looks like it keeps those little buggers at bay. I will not return to Dangerfields. I am not sure how it survives. With my coupon ($50 off for $25), we paid 48.00 for dinner with the tip (25+23).

It's not often I'm prompted to write an extensive review of any establishment, but Dangerfields needs more attention. First impressions, the parking lot had quite a few cars in it, but it turns out there were some groups on the patio that accounted for most of them. At most, there were 4-5 tables occupied on a Sunday brunch. Walking in, the decor was out of date (finished wood, tacky fake gold railings, crazy color patterns on the fabric, window awnings on the inside, etc). All of this can be overlooked, however. I didn't plan on getting the brunch, but at first glance it looked pretty decent. We sat down and service was slow given the number of patrons in the establishment. Ordered a drink, and went up to the buffet. The plates are huge, and there was a giant spread of food. Upon further inspection, nothing on the brunch spread was fresh. Things had clearly been sitting there for quite a while, and was already discolored. Some of the dishes were scooped out of the middle and all that remained was overcooked remnants around the rim. I would say out of the 30-some items on the buffet, 5-7 of them were edible. I tried a little bit of everything that looked okay, and really the only thing that wasn't gross were the scrambled eggs (I had to dig them out from under the crusty top layer). Waffles looked amazing, but required a knife because they were rock hard. Salmon looked like it was delicious, it had no moisture left over whatsoever. Had the cook-to-order omelet line not been backed up, i would have had one. The owners of this establishment need to reconsider their "pride of Shakopee" tagline on the website, this was quite terrible. To quote my girlfriend: " This was the most unsatisfying brunch of my entire life." Perhaps they should put less items out on the buffet, in smaller sizes, and rotate them more frequently. They should sit down and watch a couple seasons of Kitchen Nightmares. Caveat emptor.

What's that saying? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Unfortunately, I tried this place out 3 times. The first time my meal and appetizers were actually pretty decent, so I didn't think twice about going again. The next time, I got pasta which was bland, greasy, and overpriced. Awhile later, my dad (who went with me the first time I went there) wanted to take the rest of my family there on a visit. Big mistake. My walleye tasted like dirty lakewater and the butter for the popovers tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge for a year. No one else liked their food either. Never again.

Enjoyed a cool evening on the screened in deck. The service was very good. I started with the Mussels, and they were perfectly prepared. I ordered the Whiskey Sirloin with veggies. It was perfectly prepared and delicious. The gentleman at the hotel recommended Dangerfield's, and I'm glad he did. I'd go back!

Not impressed! Wish we looked at the reviews before dining at this place. Most of them are spot on. The decor is dated and dingy. The serving staff was nice, but excessive in their attention. Do we really need new silverware each time a plate is brought out? I had the ribs. The ribs are large, but very little on taste. They were dry, not tender. The BBQ sauce wasn't even very flavorful. I ordered the baked potato to go with my dinner. It was long over cooked and came with two butter blister packs and a packet of sour cream. The packet of sour cream was similar to the ketchup packet you may find in fast food restaurants. Don't get me started with the doilies on the plates. The popover appeared to be microwaved and the whipped butted that accompanied the popover tasted like old refrigeration or possibly freezer burned. The butter was just that though, just butter no flavor. My wife had the pan fried walleye. She said it was hard in some places and mushy in others. While it was huge, it was most likely microwaved and bland. The server was pushing a special for a potato choice, an au gratin potato dish. My wife said it was not very good. I didn't even want to try it. Dangerfield's is trying too hard to be something it is not. A fine dining restaurant. If they hire a talented chef, trained their waitstaff, and updated the decor, they may get my business again. But dinner for two topping $70.00 was nothing but disappointing.

First time in. Ordered dinner off the regular menu. The Medjool Date salad was EXCELLENT! Nice portion and great flavor. Kudos to the chef. Cajun chicken pasta was also tasty -- had lots of fresh herb flavor and portion was more than enough. The pre-dinner popover was a nice touch. Not a ton of draft selections, but very well priced.

Go for the river view and a beer on the deck in the summer. That is the only reason to go here. We came for lunch and the place was almost empty but it took over 1/2 an hour to get our food. The pulled pork sandwich was not hot. The sandwich one of our party ordered was so dry she asked if it was supposed to be toasted. The waitress looked a little confused with that question and said no, it's not toasted. The popovers were room temperature. The only way popovers should be served are piping hot out of the oven. The room was so cold we all had to wrap up in our coats. Not going back.

I am writing this review on behalf of my father and mother. My parents have been here over 20 times. The service has always been great. Prices are decent for the atmosphere. They recommend this establishment. I personally find this place good as well. This review is short and sweet because this establishment can be summed up with few words! Enjoy

I recently discovered this place for a wedding rehearsal dinner. Overall, the food was pretty decent - 3.8 stars. We had a really large party, so I always chalk up food issues with huge parties. Overall, the steak and potatoes were cooked perfectly. What bumped it to a 4 star? Loved the service that we had - sweet, kind wait staff. Plenty of parking. Great bar/patio area. The only bad thing? The creepy, Lord-Of-The-Rings like swamp/pond in the back. But other than that, nice place to go for a night out!

Sad....so sad to write this. My last experience of 5 yrs ago was really great. As of Easter 2015...ugh hhhh This was the worst buffet I have remembered in my lifetime. I could have bought everything frozen and put in warming trays at home with better success. My poor mother got so suck an hour after...my parents and I all hope that we are given an opportunity to this this place go back to the way it was years ago.

The boyfriend and I purchased a groupon and went here for the first time. Over priced food and staff are not helpful. The food was decent but not for the price you pay for it. Good thing we had a groupon and didn't spend that much.

They bring out some bread which was very bland. I had the Chicken Parmesan topped over fettuccini Alfredo. The fettuccini was mediocre the chicken wasn't bad. Overall I would say he food is pretty average. We had a beautiful view over a pond and some woods!
