I had a friend who worked here before, and told me all of the disgusting things you reviewers and review-seekers SHOULD be aware of. First off, the cooks in the back potentially drops something that is with your meal, and will pick it up from the bare ground and place it back in your meal. Though every restaurant could possibly be doing this, my co worker saw this firsthand here. She confronted the chef, but the chef did not view it was a big deal. For you sanitary freaks like me, this is a red flag. It was a whole cooked terriyaki salmon that fell on the ground. Stuff like spicy mayo - The owner is stingy and will get pissed at the servers for wasting just an itsy bit of the leftover spicy mayo that the previous customer didn't finish, so servers are forced to refill the same small bowl up with spicy mayo and give it to the next customer who asks for it. Not just spicy mayo, but other stuff like a customer that took a couple bites of their meal and didn't like it. My friend threw away the meal and she did. The owner saw it all and got mad her for throwing it away and made her pay for the meal that she threw away. He said, "You wasted my money! Now you have to pay for it. That could have been given to a different customer!" She talked back to him and said, "But the customer took bites out of this already" Yes, in the end she really did have to pay for it. There's more, but that should do it. I didn't know who to approach this to so I will let someone who will see this comment do something or spread the word. It is pretty bad behind the scenes. I only know of the Savage location doing this, but nonetheless, there should be an evaluation at all of the other ones for us as consumers. Thank you for taking the time to read.

The food was okay but the service was horrendous! Had to ask for napkins. Had to steal cutlery from a neighboring table. Had to ask several times for our edamame. Waitress seemed very disinterested and bored.

I'm a fan of all the Kyoto's in the Twin Cities if I am correct I believe they are all owned from one single family so everywhere will be fairly similar in decor and menus. My boyfriend and I normally go to the Eagan location but because we now live closer to Savage decided to check out this location. The furniture is in much better condition compared to Eagan where the seats are all torn up. It seems a tad big smaller in bar size and the amount of tables. We did the All you can eat sushi dinner option. (check for coupons in local coupon books because they usually offer $6 off for two people) The service was about the same compared to Eagan as well not the best but still friendly. The fish is still fresh and I love the fact they have Green tea, and red bean ice cream my favorites!

I've been here multiple times, and I have to say that I'm very impressed overall. This is by no means the greatest sushi in the the world, but it's reasonably priced, has a decent selection, and tastes good. The one thing that could be improved on slightly is the service, which at times is a bit slow and reluctant.

Excellent Sushi all-you can eat! The service here has always been on point and I feel as if the prices are competitive as long as you arrive hungry or wish to order raw fish, etc. Pay one price for everything on their menu which allows the budding sushi enthusiast to try foods outside their normal routine. Highly recommend the yellowtail pieces and #9 Sushi Roll! 4 Stars given due to great food; however, if not extra hungry, prices may be a little high compared to just ordering by the roll elsewhere.

Inexpensive decent quality sushi. Especially if you do the all you can eat. Just be ready for your order to get mixed up a little bit and the service is just ok. It's nothing spectacular but for the price it can hit the spot.

I would like to give this place a 3 star. However the service I have received on at least 5 occasions puts it to a 2. I have never had the same staff more then once, It seams they cycle through staff on a weekly basis. My service has ranged from COMPLETELY FORGETTING COURSES - Management attempting to force me to take home items I no longer want - Host / Manager seating me in wrong section, after "LISTENING" to our request - My last visit our waitress had her toddler running around the establishment. I love sushi, and ate at the Eagan location long ago. However I don't think the staff competent enough to know one fish from the other at this location. The quality may be great, but I wont be trying it solely based on the asinine service I am given. Over...and Over... I do keep going back. The meal I receive here is NOT smothered in MSG and we honestly love it!

What a joke! I am standing in the take & bake pizza shop two doors down from this ridiculous establishment. The reason is that even though I just paid $80 for "all we could eat" at Kyoto I am starving. They tried mightily to pawn off the fried food specialties which inexplicably "arrive much faster" than a slice of raw fish. The all you can eat at Kyoto is nothing but a scam. A place to avoid. I'll never be back.

I've come to this location 3 times already. I had the seaweed salad, the fried shrimp tempara, nearly all the sasami, spicy tuna and salmon roll, the seafood fried rice, the ramen and the ice cream... i have nothing bad to say about this place! Service is fantastic. for all you can eat, its worth it! they even have cheap happy hour. their 16 ounce on tap is only 2 bucks! where else can you find asian beer on tap???

I'm now convinced that I'd probably eat Nemo if I ever find him. Something must be in the water since I've been craving for sashimi more than ever. And when I say craving, I meant the I'm-willing-to-drive-30 minutes-for-this-piece-of-fish type. Good thing my car still works in this horrid weather, otherwise I might even consider hitchhiking. I never thought Kyoto was going to be my go-to place for sushi, but the one in Savage just brought out the fish savage that's in me (ba-dum-tssh). Even if it's a franchise, Kyoto at this location is much superior to the ones in my neck of the wood. First, they prepared the rice with just the right flavor and temperature: slightly tangy and warm. And, surprisingly, fish here didn't taste like it's straight out from the freezer either. Compared to the other Kyoto's I've been to, they also did a good job at not jibbing the customers by cutting up sashimi into fun snort-size. After all, I go to AYCE's to eat, not to inhale food (despite popular belief), so I'm glad they got the memo. Can't wait to go back there again!

I've been to the one in Eagan many times, but we found coupons to this one so in the interest of saving a few bucks we went. I enjoyed this place as much as the one in Eagan, and recommend anyone that wants sushi to come here. They even had great presentation plates. I took a picture of the round spinning serving plate. Very cool guys! I love the dynamite roll on the lunch menu, but if your there for dinner, the dragon roll is the best!

Love this place. For an all you can eat $16 lunch or $25 dinner it is one of the best deals you can get for sushi. You can even find coupons in your mailbox circulars that make it a couple of bucks cheaper. Reservations are only taken for groups of five or more. Although it is all you can eat, it is not served in a buffet style. Instead, they provide a menu that you can order off of as many times as you would like. Be warned that there is a waste charge if you are not mindful of how much you order. I have to admit that there isn't a huge amount of variety in the types of sushi offered (mostly tuna, salmon, eel, shrimp and crab based) they are freshly made and of high quality. My husband and I also enjoy the fried dumplings and the teriyaki beef. Sometimes the service is attentive and fast, and sometimes it is slow. Really depends on how busy they are. Friday and Saturday nights are the busiest like most other restaurants.

Excellent sashimi & sushi! Though not cheap, worth it! Came when I traveled to MN at Burnsville.

Ok, remember this is a 5 star AYCE sushi restaurant. So don't go expecting stellar. They over use tempura "crunch" or crumbs in some rolls so beware. Otherwise everything is pretty good. The hot food is on par with hibachi restaurants. We have had teriyaki, several noodle dishes, fried rice and dumplings. All are worth ordering. Also, I saw one reviewer say they wouldn't tip 20%. Remember you are getting all you can eat sushi for $16 at lunch. I think you can swing a $3.20 tip. Let's be real.

Yum! We were served some very good sushi, sashimi and fried rice. I also had miso soup and edamame. Every thing tasted really awesome. My two friends where also really happy with what they got. We also had an attentive waitress who kept our glasses full and delivered our orders quickly. It's a farther drive but we are coming here instead of Egan. Much better service and they have strawberry ice cream.

The lunch buffet is hand selected yourself with Kyoto's large menu of options. I typically start off with 4 small portions that any foodie will love to try the variety. I do not eat seafood but the menu still provides me with veggie sushi (mmm, avocado, peanut and wasabi is so good), chicken and beef options, rice dishes and soups. A total of about 12 options for me and an additional 40-50 for you fish lovers. Some items are better than others, but I can't say there is anything that you can go wrong with. Chicken or Beef Teriyaki, veggie sushi and vegetable fried rice are a staple on my Kyoto diet. Although its a buffet during lunch, they will charge you if you don't finish 85% of what you order, they do publish it in the menu but I guess I missed it last time I came. With a group of friends you can easily spend 90 minutes here without realizing it so make sure you have ample time available away from work if you come at lunch.

This place is amazing! Great food, always awesome service, and amazing deals. There is typically a coupon in the local Dollars and Sense magazine. We always come here on Christmas, and it's a guaranteed good time!

Let me start off with saying their food is delicious. However, their service wasn't so great for my first-time visit. My boyfriend, and his two friends all go out and decide to go to their favorite sushi place. So we end up going, the inside of the restuarant is beautiful! They have this fake tree that has lights in it that is pretty cool seeing as it's not something you see all the time. The host was great, gave us our seats right away on a Sunday night and it was great. Sat down and look at the menu. Before this we went out for a bikeride, skateboarding, and walking before this so our stomachs are just grumbling at us on food. This is where I was a bit displeased with the restaurant. We decided what we wanted, and waited...and waited...and waited...and waited. And waited till a friend of my just starts swearing a bit and asks where the heck is our waitress. There was a couple behind him that had a server and we had been sitting at the table for at least 20 to 25 minutes. Without any water. My boyfriend apparently had made eye contact twice with the waitress that was serving the couple next to us and never once did she even ask the very minimum question, "Have you guys been served yet?" It got to the point that Minnesota Nice wasn't really in either of our cards. I stood up and pretty much talked to either the manager or the hostess lady and complained that we had been sitting at our table for about 20 minutes without anybody getting us our orders. I was sweet about it, but also hungry and not really happy (still happy, but a little bit sad that they didn't have anybody come to us). Got out orders, but everytime the waitress would hand us our food, she would give it to one of my friends (who was at the edge of the table) and expect him to pass it out as if it's his job and not bother reaching over to others. I understand that my friend and I weren't on the edge, but to place all the food right in front of my friends face and have him sort it out, I was irritated with the action. There was also a repeat of food that was handed to us that had already was handed out so food was wasted which made me sad. :( The food was still pretty good and probably is way better than other places. However, the service there from the waitresses could be better when it comes to communication. Interestingly, I applied to get a job there and hope to improve the restaurant on little things that are avoidable and hopefully bring smiles and enjoyment when families/couples are out here. Wish me luck.

So, this was my first time coming to this restaurant, as my coworkers suggested we have lunch here. We had a noon reservation for 6. Got seated right away, with our drink orders being taken. Ten minutes later we put in our first order for sushi. It took 40 minutes in a half full restaurant to get one person's first order. Then another 5 for mine, and another 10 to get one more. Our orders came out so hodgepodged that none of us could eat at the same time. I've eaten at ton of ssushi places before, and never had such terrible service. When we asked the waitress why it was taking so long, she started arguing with our party. Seriously? Why would you argue with your guests?? Then you have the gall to continue doing the same thing for the next twenty minutes while forgetting some of our order? I'm never coming back to this place. Food might be decent, but the service left the worst taste in my mouth.

This is a great place for unlimited sushi! They have a varied menu and lots of different options. The service is always good

I am a huge fan of this place. Occasionally the service isn't the best but that's the exception and not the rule. The sushi and rolls are beautiful and tasty. The price is excellent for all you can eat at $25 per person. I take my son here a lot he is 14 and loves it as well. This really is a great place.

All that you can expect from a nearly perfect sushi place. Menu clear and understable. Good service. TVs around for entertainment if alone. All you can eat is great. (Lunch 16$ 11-2:30 mon-thurs, till 3:30 Friday's, dinner 23$). Also pretty relaxing feel of furniture setup and fairly quick on food readiness. Love it.

This Kyoto location is fantastic! I used to frequent the Eagan Kyoto location, but no more will they see me. Not only is the Savage location way closer to where I live, the food is better too. Don't get me wrong though, I did like the Eagan location, but Savage Kyoto takes the crown. I am by no means comparing All You Can eat Sushi to a really good authentic uptown sushi places (well some). But, when it is only $15.95 for lunch time and you can devour as much as you want, it is good sushi in my book. You must order the Teriyaki beef here, they cook it perfectly. The Eagan location always over cooks the meat and it is too dry. They offer a non-AYCE menu as well and many types of cooked entrees too. I will admit that service is not exactly stellar, but they get you your food and fill your water, they just won't get 20%. FYI- No Hibachi here, they have not updated their website yet to reflect the new location.

Great sushi, fresh and fast. The menu doesn't have a huge selection of rolls but had other items to choose from. Service was friendly and attentive. We will come here again and do the all you can eat.

Used to love this location as it's much closer to my home. However after a bad experience where I told the staff a recent batch of Escolar didn't taste good to me. I was informed I would need to eat the remaining 3 pieces of sashimi and 2 peices of spicy tuna (they use Escolar for the spicy tuna) or be charged extra. I finished up the plate as I had been assured it was fine regardless of taste and finished the evening. I then had terrible stomach pains all the next day and bowel issues. I eat sushi at many places through the twin cities and have never had this problem. If you like the Kyoto sushi chain may I recommend the location in Roseville, I still go to that location and have yet to have a problem.

Savage Kyoto is great! There aren't to many places in Minnesota that has "All you can eat Sushi" that taste delicious and has a great prices. Upon ordering, the urban Japanese scenery creates welcoming environment that entices you. Plain and simple, the food is good and the people that work there are respectful. If you have ever heard of Seven sushi, it doesn't beat them, but its hard to beat a upscale very elegant restaurant owned by a wealth man. Kyoto is not only a AYCE Japanese restaurant, as they offer a regular Dinner and Lunch menu as well. The buffet offers all you can eat 7 days a week, with lunch and dinner prices. Lunch at 15.99 11:30am -2:30pm Dinner at 24.99 4:30pm- Close All in all, cheap prices and great service will keep my friends and me coming back time after time. Enjoy eating health sushi and of course, YELP IT!

I don't normally don't submit reviews but this place was so good I felt compelled to do one. All I can say is it could not have been better. The fish was fresh as can be and served super fast. This is my new favorite place to eat!

Food is so good. and I think 25 $ all you can eat is amazing for such a good sushi. I have tried good expensive sushi and not the best . This place is quiet and they have almost all the rolls you can imagine. Really recommend coming here. Also FYI lunch menu is NOT the same as dinner, because not all Rolls are on there.

Best bang for your buck sushi around!! All you can eat sushi for lunch for $16 is awesome! Servers are always nice and are attentive. The only thing I don't like on the menu is their chicken breast- I think it taste kind of rubbery, but my husband loves it and eats at least 5 every time we are there. We go here at least once a month.

  • Sam B.

Sushi was delicious. The hand rolled ice cream sushi roll was a little strange. The pizza sushi was surprising good. The bill came out to be $28 with a soft drink, but with about 40 pieces of sushi it was worth it. I've had better sauces on the spicy salmon and spicy tuna rolls but they were still good. My favorites were the beef sirloin and the red tuna nigiri. The green tea ice cream was tantalizingly refreshing, good way to cleanse the palette.

I went here for lunch, Nice place, seems to be clean, and when I went it was maybe 35% full. I opted for the all you can eat sushi. I ordered two rolls, and I have to admit, they were great. What absolutely put this place in the dumpster is ZERO service. Seriously, 55 minutes from the time I ordered to the time I got my rolls. I had to flag down others who were not my servers to see just what the heck was going on. Never cleaned off the table, never refilled my ice tea. After I finally got my two rolls, I ordered one more, thirty minutes later I got up and left. total BS. Never got my last roll, and when I got up, two other groups followed my lead and bitched to the alleged manager. I am sure it fell on deaf ears. Now I know how they get away with their all you can eat spiel. They just do not serve you. They just piss you off till you leave. Total Chrap. Negative 10 stars. An hour thirty of my life wasted.

Their "All You can Eat" menu is wonderful. Make sure you go hungry so you can take advantage of "All You Can Eat". I have had their Sushi, Pot Stickers, Fried Rice, noodle soup, and more! I have never had anything bad. It is all excellent Japanese food. I will not eat anywhere else in the area because their food is so good and worth every penny! I tip 25% because the wait staff is so friendly and hard working and good! It is GOOD healthy food!

If you're a real sushi eater than this is not a place for you! Crapy food and sushi buffet, just not worse it to spending even buffet price Horrible food, green tea( taste like water) and pool service! Sorry, I'm not going there again!!

I have tried the Savage location, total of five times. Once for lunch, and four times for dinner. The food was decent enough, but service was awful. They can't keep the order straight, late with some items, forgot on some item. With group of 8 people, they kept bringing food on single plate that contain three or more orders from people from opposite side of table. Twice, they dropped drinks at table (fortunately, we manage to dodge out of the way with minimum of splash on us. It did hit our bags however). If you are looking for All You can eat Sushi, I recommend 98 pound buffet, or Kami.

I love coming here! Excellent food, lovely service, & not extremely expensive for such authentic Japanese cuisine. Definitely go with the unlimited sushi deal though. Also, the fact that they serve red bean icecream is amazing because it is seriously the best.

Amazing! Heard about this place from a friend and WOW! All you can eat sushi for $25 per person and it was delicious. Made to order and huge pieces and lots of variety. We had a group of 10 people and a couple people thought they did not care for sushi. They ended up trying it and loved it. So many things to choose from even if you are not a raw fish type of person. Excellent service, very attentive and patient. They took the time to explain how things work and the various choices for those who are not sushi experts. Highly recommend this restaurant, we will absolutely be back!
